My Vibrant dropped a couple days ago and went on the frits. USB wont stop flashing and then it would freeze when it slept for more that 5 min. Took it to Tmo and they ordered a replacement. So while its in the mail I decided to root and try and fix the prob. Flashed Bionix 1.6 via Rom Manager after the 1click root method. Now Im trying to get everything back to stock b4 I have to send this phone back to Asurion. I tried using eugene's Stock JI5 & Jack's Stock OC/UV Kernel but for some reason Clockwork was being a pain. So I Moved the file to the external sd and renamed it update.zip. Hit "Flash update.zip file from sd card" and then rebooted. Looks to be stock now but I want to be sure so I took a screenshot and I was wondering if any1 can tell me wether or not its all the stock info before I Unroot and send it to Asurion. Oh in case ur wondering I tried looking up all the stock info or at least for a stock "About Phone" screenshot and had no luck. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Looks stock to me. (you edited and added the picture, i was being a smartass)
so i edited too...
They won't look that far into it.
dude will glance at it and throw it in a box... if you UPS it back they will never hunt you down, even if you sent them a rooted one.
but a stock phone probably won't have JI6 / JI5 on it yet.
use the original ODIN to go back to stock.

You know everybody is going to tell you that you should have posted in the QnA section especially when you gonna put a [Q] in front of your title. Anyways, here is the link that will get you back to how your phone was shipped to you.
Stock will look like T959UVJFD in baseband version

If you don't understand anything in that first post then ask somebody for help in the QnA section before you post in the Dev section again.
dont know much about odin but i get the impression it needs to be hooked up via usb which im still having problems with. I figured they wouldnt look much into it because I sent them a bricked G1 b4 and never heard anything back about it. Just tryin to cover my ass cuz u never really know i guess.
as the as asking a question in the dev section ur probably right. i just figured i get a quicker more educated answer here. Plus I wasnt event thinking about that when I posted it. I'll be sure to post in the right section next time. Thanks for the help.
ok so I'm trying to use odin with no prior experience and this is what I got. I did what the thread said and now odin is stuck on file analysis. I ended up pulling the plug and retried it twice with about 20min between each pull. I read on a few threads that odin 1.00 likes to hang. does this sound like its what its doing?

Ok, so I've tried to do my own research and have come up with very little. It took me about a year to figure out what rooting actually meant and did. So I rooted my SGS vibrant and flashed a bionix rom (i think). It says "bionix shut down sequence initiated" or something like that when I turn it off (any ideas on what it is or how I can find out). I really have no idea what version it is. I also would like to put a new rom on my phone but am scared ill screw it up. I watched a youtube video that told me how to do it the first time I flashed anything. It works with a few random screw ups but KILLS my battery. I would really like for someone who knows more than me to explain what a nandroid backup is and how to do one. What the clockwork rom manager can help me do. What the one click lag fix did. Why my computer won't read the storage things on the phone when connected to the phone anymore. What is this odin thing. What is a kernel. will I still get the ota updates without the stock rom. Where did my stock rom go when I pushed backup before I flashed this rom in the rom manager app. Did I actually wipe all the original data from the phone. Why can't I restore boot animation with one click lag fix(it says somethings not found... Did I wipe/delete it?). What is an apk and sdk(or skd)? What is a voodoo lag fix. How many times can you flash beer something goes wrong. I'm really new to ALL of this and have had no help really when I've asked a lot of people who apparently know more than I. ANY help from ANYONE who knows ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Almost all of those questions can be answered by reading the Tips and Tricks or Noob Guide threads. Those two threads have given me all the info I've ever needed for the Vibrant.

Theres a lot of questions in there so I'll just bite off a few at first. Before that, have you taken a look at the vibrant bible thread in the dev forum? It covers a lot of the basic ' how tos '.
Firstly, you can possibly see what version of bionix you are running by looking under settings - about phone - build number. now might be a good time for you to odin back to stock and start fresh. Odin is a program that runs on your pc and can safely install a rom on top of any lag fix you may have enabled. You can read about using odin to go back to stock in the vibrant bible thread I mentioned earlier. Once you go back to stock you can receive ota updates from tmo if that's what you want or you can reroot and flash another custom rom. If you choose to flash another rom I would recommend reading every post on that rom's thread so you can learn from other's experiences. I would also recommend you keep reading the bible thread, theres a ton of good info there.
Good luck.

Dude, THAT is why I do those stickies, thank you! So glad it helped man!
That was really helpful, thank you and I will be looking into this more little by little. But I also have 2 very specific questions:
1. Is it possible to turn an htc windows phone into an android phone?
2. will I lose everything if I push the flash clockwork recovery in the rom manager app? I haven't done it yet but everything I've read has told me to do it the first time. I have the bionix rom running and don't remember flashing the clockwork recovery thing EVER. have I messed up or can I just do it whenever? And is it true thats how you make a nandroid backup because thats what I've read.
I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out, and being patient with me. You guys are the reason I love android. Thank you from your very lost, slowly learning, new friend.

Depends on the phone, many do have android roms available. Just look up whatever windows phone you have in the forum section and if there has been some android development there will most likely be a section in the thread devoted just to android development.
You need to odin back and start from new

I was trying to root and get a custom rom on my friends Fascinate. I rooted it fine and then found out I had to use odin to set the firmware back so I could flash clockwork cause the stock recovery wouldn't let me. I'm pretty sure I used the wrong odin or something on accident. When I boot up the phone it shows at&t world phone. It wont boot up past that screen. It won't boot up with the usb cable in either. the phone is the 1008 version. Can anyone tell me if this is a for sure brick or not and if it isnt how to fix it or if it is if theres a way to get the at&t logo off the screen so verizon doesnt ask questions.
You flashed the wrong rom.
go here and get this Its the stock rom.http://www.multiupload.com/I9HBT8MXN1
and here get this its the stock pit. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2056318/atlas_v2.2.pit
And if you need odin get it here. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?t093btu771q0bgi
Them i would suggest using this rom and reading up on it here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983395
this should get you strait. If not go here as a last resort, it is a bit confusing at first. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265 and read this it includes a download link.
you will need to unzip the stock rom to get to the files you need for this.
The instructions there look pretty spot-on. You should thank DaleV.
Additional things:
1. ALWAYS make sure what you flash is for the VERIZON FASCINATE.
2. ONLY use the PDA button in Odin. NEVER EVER EVER use the phone button.
3. Jesus Christ. Be more careful with other people's $600 devices.
Yeah i know. Thanks so much man. Saved my butt. And yeah, ive really got to do ALL the research first and not cut corners. Lesson learned ha. Thanks guys REALLY appreciate it.
OK to get started a little background, I was very deep into rooting and roms on my original droid, so I do know a lot of the basics. I got the fascinate in last october, dropped it and cracked the screen in december at that point I decided what could I really do to the phone hacking thats worse than physical damage, so I started using Odin and flashing the risky froyo files that were out then. I dont remember which one, did one and the phone started saying -e:cant mount /dev/blockst111. Ive tried the i500 vzw stock recovery.tar and the modem and something else of those files through odin to no avail. Im trying to do all of this recovery stuff from afghanistan also. When I try to use those files through odin it always says invalid hash value. file download is almost impossible here but I was able to get the 2.2 atlas .pit and CI500_VZW_ED05_FROYO_REL.tar (1).md5 from another marine. please help oh and I dont have the stock cable out here either. Thanks for any help guys.
I got it ! sorry for the cry for help but all I had to do was mod the file name and voila there it was.
Glad you got it fixed. Watch yours and each others backs over there and come home safely.
Brwnsuperman has all files to stock and gingerbread upgrade if you ever need fix again.

Hello,
I recently flashed a custom rom to my Samsung Galaxy 5 i5500 and i didnt back up my stock rom so i used one i found on these forums, now i am wondering if my phone will appear stock and will there be any files on my interal/external memory that i can delete (that will show that i voided my warranty).
My phone details are;
GT-I5500
2.2
I5500XWJP3
2.6.32.9-perf
[email protected] #1
FROYO.XWJPJ
------
I had to flash clockworkmod v4 onto my device before i flashed Cyanogenmod so i am wondering if all traces of ClockworkMod have been deleted when i flashed the stock rom back.
The reason i am asking this is my phone is broke (i can use it fine, but the battery is damaged somehow so it doesnt charge properly etc)
So basically;
Does my phone appear stock from the details i have given above?
Is there any files on my device memory (internal or external) that i should remove manually in order to get a repair?
And finally- is Clockworkmod fully removed from my device?
Sorry for the large amount of text.
Thank you,
I will 'Thank' every post that helps me resolve my questions.
Curtis.
I have sent in 3-4 rooted phones into HTC and they didnt do a single things about it, I would say youd be okay!
Thanks for your comment.
Can anyone else verify this for me?
I want to be 100% positive!
I've had multiple times where a carrier rep has looked at my device in-store, running MIUI or CM7 and they were actually jealous, they didn't get mad. It depends on how you do it. Have you tried replacing the battery? Maybe go in to your carrier store where you got the phone and ask for a battery replacement.
I've got a person from these forums sending me a battery for free to see if thats the problem, so i am waiting to receive that battery before i take it in store- so im trying to make sure its as stock as i can get it incase i have to take it to the store to get repaired.
Thanks for your reply.
You're welcome. Now, I'm on a galaxy s mesmerize, I believe you have the same tools with your phone. Could you go to the specific forum for your phone and find some files for Odin or Heimdall to make it go straight back to stock?
We have threads for my phone that you might have similar ones of, just look for "Make your phone stock" or "Official Odin/Heimdall" or something like that.
You should be able to use that to get back to unrooted stock and send the phone in, if the battery doesn't work.
Yeah ive already used a stock rom from the i5500 sub forum, but i am not 100% sure Clockworkmod has been removed- or if there is any left over files on my device's internal memory which should be deleted before i send it off for a repair!
As soon as it gets fixed il be flashing it straight back to CM7!
Thanks again!
If you've got a stock rom on there and haven't flashed CWM you probably don't have it Try going into recovery to check.
Just looked in your phone's forums, I'd say use Odin to put the phone on one of the roms under "latest firmware" in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781149
and you should be good to return it. Those should all be free of CWM and root as far as I can tell.
Yeah it should be fine then, thanks.
No problem, good luck.
Hey All,
I've been looking for an answer for over a day now, but can't seem to find anything about my specific problem. Here's what happened:
I had flashed to ICS 4.0.3 on my Samsung Vibrant about a month ago and everything was working great until yesterday when I woke up to find the "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen on my phone. I did a little research to find out that there is a fix to this and to NOT reset the phone. So, I took the steps to ODIN the phone back to Stock Eclair in hopes that starting from the beginning again would be easiest way to fix the problem. The ODIN process finished completely fine (PASSED), but now when it reboots, I only get to the first "Vibrant" screen, then it shows the battery and spinning circle icon. Apparently it won't fully reboot. I've tried to ODIN it back to stock several times, and I keep getting the same results. I can get it into download mode and plugged into my computer, but that's about it.
From the posts I've read, it sounds like my phone might still be okay to recover since it does power up, but I can't seem to find a solution to get it fully back up and running.
Any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Maybe your JFD file is corruption. Check with your MD5 sum if there any error or mismatch.. Just give you an idea.BTW what Odin are u using. I recommend Odin 1.7 I stay away the older Odin or the newer Odin
You are screwed.
Sorry to tell you this but i had the exact same problem and found no solution whatsoever to fix the phone. I finally gave up and bought a Galaxy Nexus. You can try flashing Eugene's Unbrickable Froyo Rom which is flashable through odin as a .tar package along with the pit file. You might be able to fix it but i highly doubt it. I flashed Eugene's rom and got the same results as you described. By any chance did you click "Reset Phone" when the "Encryption Unsuccessful" showed up? If so well yeah your phone is pretty much paperweight as of now...until someone finds a solution. Like you i am also able to access download mode. So i guess there may be a way to fix your phone. Not saying it's impossible...hopefully someone finds a solution soon.
Here is the link to Euguene's rom: http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=8
Good luck.
OP, what ROM were you running (specifically. Not just ICS 4.0.3-what is the name of the ROM)? Also what kernel?
Since you are not the only one this happened to, I would like to know the above and see if it correlates to the others that this happened to in the Vibrant section. I'll post the same in their threads too.
Check here out for a possible solution/workaround.
Replacement Vibrant Coming
Thanks for your recommendations/help guys.
I decided to go to T-Mobile and complain and they are sending me a replacement phone. Apparently it's still under warranty, so it won't cost me anything, and if my data is lost, then so be it...at least all my contacts will still be in tact through my Google account.
Merio - I did NOT hit the Reset Button when I saw the Encryption Unsuccessful screen. Before doing anything I did a little research and I found a forum here on xda that said to not hit that button, and tried to explain a way to fix it using the Heimdall One-Click. Basically it sounded like I'd be flashing back to a Gingerbread ROM. So, instead I just went ahead and tried to flash back to stock Eclair. The results of that were obviously not good.
Woodrube - I was running the Passion 13 ROM (ICS 4.0.3). Was really enjoying it until I got the Encryption "Screen of Death"
I don't know what Kernel it was, actually, I don't really know what a Kernel is...
Thanks again guys. Hopefully I'll be up and running on my replacement phone soon!
