It's been a week with the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant.
Thanks to this forum, I was able to force my Galaxy to connect to the Wind Home ONLY network so far.
I absolutely adore the phone, yet as most of you know that using Samsung Galaxy S in Vancouver is pain in the ***.
Every morning, I have to hard reset the phone at least 6-7 times to get it work. Once it is connected, the phone works fine through out the afternoon. However, for some random reason, from 7-8, the phone starts to get nowhere again.
Now, I think I've had it enough. I am not sure if I should keep this phone untill the network in Vancouver gets stable like in other Wind coverage areas.
Can anyone from Ontario let me know how your Galaxy S is doing there?
SO, what do you think I should do guys?
Please help...
Hey,
I'm from Vancouver as well with the same provider/phone. I am having no problems with the network, even in zone that are still not officially online yet. Its possible it would be a dead zone, or a fault with your phone.

My first Vibrant would do this non stop. I'd get it replaced if at all possible.

I've been getting annoying service issues the past few days. I did in another state about 10 min away. And another county about 25min away. I keep leasing data. Or it will go in to emerancy calls only which makes me think its switching over to tmobile. Anyone know whats going on? Its not the area cause another att phone with me both times didn't have an issue at all! Im running surorom 7. With stock modem. Any one have an idea?
As I am typing this my phone done it. And it also likes to switch to edge a few times while in town.

Someone Help.... VERY annoying!!
Not my sim card. as it does it with my ORANGE UK sim and my T-Mobile sim!
I've had my Note for 3 Weeks. I've never rooted, so I'm just on the stock AT&T ROM. I had that same issue, it would lose signal and become non responsive for up to 2 minutes until it reacquired a signal. it appears I've solved the problem by doing a Factory reset. My suggestion is that you return to stock and see if that solves your issue. if it does, redownload your ROM and reflash
Update: after a couple of days, the signal issue has returned. I'm waiting on a replacement from Amazon; I'm hoping this is just a defective device. Otherwise I'll have to return the Note. This signal issue is a deal breaker and I'll have to move on to the at&t One X (wasn't too impressed with with the SIII announcement).
Hey guys, this did not happen at first, but today I have been experiencing some big issues with my phone.
I have been using the UVLK1 ICS based radio since I am an AT&T Galaxy Note user on the T-Mobile Network.
People have been calling me and my phone isn't ringing. I am getting Google Voice e-mails for voicemails they leave me but the phone never rang. I am at work where I always have gotten great service at all times. I rebooted the phone and it is still doing the same thing.
Any ideas?
Now I can't even make calls...the phone disconnects the call right after I tap the make call button...
Now I flashed the Blaze 4G radio, doing the same thing. Can't receive calls and immediately disconnecting when trying to place calls.
Data isn't working either..
Pulled the SIM card, put back in, problem solved. Weird!
It is doing it again! This morning it happened and I had to pull battery and SIM, reboot, it worked but shortly after stopped working...
issues with TMobile radios on galaxy note
I have experienced similar problems as well, but not to the extent to where my phone doesn't work at all. Since TMobile sells the Note now, I'm sure someone will port the full ROM or at least the radio.

i'm using the SGH-I727 with various T-Mobile radios and having the same issue, kinda. It will work for about 3-5 hours then stop. The signal meter still works, 2-3 bars in my area, even flucuates. However it will say (Searching) and nothing comes in or goes out. It does not work again until rebooted. Then the process repeats.
Any other t-mobile subscribers with you? The crazy weather might be a cause.
Can you put your sim in your back up phone?
Hi all,
First off, thanks for your help in advance, I find it great that communities like this are content with a simple thumbs up and don't require the contents of my wallet like the bastards at Apple. My problem is probably quite simple, but it's beyond me, so I'd appreciate your help.
Basically, I bought a Galaxy S Plus in India some years back and it's been my primary phone ever since. It worked fine with any SIM I put into it in India and made texts and calls as usual. Here's the issue. About a week ago I moved to the UK and my wife gave me her LycaMobile SIM to use with the phone. I put it in, but my phone wouldn't make any texts or calls, the phone showed some bars for signal for a few seconds but they quickly disappeared. I know the SIM works, because we tested it in her Nexus 4 and my friends Galaxy S2, leading me to believe the phone is at fault.
I tried several other SIMS in the phone, both UK and India based, but still no luck. My guess is that it has something to do with baseband, but as I said, I'm really not sure.
Thanks again for any help.

I think thats not the problem, google says that india and the united kingdom have the same gsm-bands (900/1800).
I recently bought a used Galaxy Note 2 from someone (via craigslist). The phone is in perfect condition externally, looks brand new. It has stock Android 4.1.2. When I picked it up I tested it out and everything worked great, however the area we were in didn't have 4g so I couldn't test that. Got home and switched my Sim card from my old galaxy nexus to the note 2 and it won't connect to 4G at all. It gets 4 bars of 3G, wifi works fine, making calls works fine. Moved the sim back to the galaxy nexus and 4G comes right up.
I called verizon tech support and the guy I spoke with tried to do some kind of update that involved rebooting the phone but that did not fix the problem. He said the only other thing to try is a new sim card, so one is in the mail. If the new sim doesn't work he says it's a device issue. I'm having trouble believing that the sim could be the problem since it works fine in my nexus.
FYI I've tried setting the network mode to both Global and LTE/CDMA.
Is there anything else I can try? Thanks in advance.
The only other thing to try with it is to flash root66 with the NAND Erase box checked in Odin to see if there is something still left on the phone causing this.

You could try the hidden settings. Force lte. Let me see if I can find a link.
If you play with the hidden settings though, be careful, and remember everything you do in there.

Ok... here is the story... I owned galaxy tab s2, s3, s4 and now own s6... all lte with regular phone call capabilities.... from s2 to s6 have the same annoying problem... incoming phone calls and sms stop working randomly (lte always works)... yes on all devices! Long time ago, when i bought s2 to use as a phone, I thought "ok, it is not a real phone, and it is from south korea will wait to s3 (i live in the usa and use t mobile)".... then bought s3... same problem... S4 same and s6 same! Im very frustrated... all these are 1000 dollar tablets! How it is possible this problem happen on all devices through years...
I detected this problem because, when my phone is turned off, all calls are forwarded to my wife's phone... and one time we were dining and she received a call, but my phone was turned on and the caller was calling to me... weird... then... I call my phone with skype from my pc and again call was forwarded to my wife's phone... the only thing that fixed this is turning off and on the tablet...
4 years ago (or more) have been asking in forums, tried to call samsung usa (they even didn't know this tablet with phone exist) and nothing.... obviously did like 100 factory reset... and rooted (not the s6) all devices and messed up a little bit with some configuration like volte and so... but nothing... problem persisted 4 years ago till today...
You sure its not a samsung account problem. Maybe it linked itself to your wifes phone number on one of those tablet and now its acting strange. Have you tried logging in online into your samsung account. Maybe there is a setting with linked phone number or perhaps an "old device list"/"linked devices" where you can delete all linked devices and then log it back in on your device.
Also if that all isnt possible maybe try a new samsung account?

When I was looking to buy the S6 I started looking at the wifi model first and noticed that the phone software was installed...even thought it was the wifi model. I had never noticed this on earlier tablets and was under the impression that in the US we weren't allowed by the carriers to use the tab as a phone like they can overseas. So when I saw the software installed on the S6 wifi I decided to wait until the LTE model was available from T-Mobile. Finally it was released so I went into T-Mobile and before purchasing I asked them if I were to put my phones SIM into the tab if I would be able to have the phone working since the software was installed on the tab. I was told that it might work for a few days, but the system would eventually detect that it was a tablet and automatically disable that function and the phone would no longer work on the tab. They did however say that if I had a Galaxy phone that it would work through the phone to receive and make calls, but only if the phone was close and connected to the tab ( By wifi or Bluetooth I guess) So I thought that is ridiculous...Why would I pay $729 for the 128GB LTE version and not be able to put in the SIM from my phone and use it that way? When I can get the wifi 256GB version for about $100 less and just tether that to my phone when away from wifi to get onto the web. Anyway...That's the route I took since I wasn't going to be able to use the phone function without a Galaxy phone anyways according to T-Mobile. All these years and we still can't have true phone function on our tabs here in the US, but they can overseas for some reason.

Mine works great!.... when it works... 80% of the day... carrier never disabled the phone calls... or at least that is what i think,... i dont think carrier disconnect my tab just a few times a day.... this solves just with a reset or a network reset... have another solution that works great... i have set up a google voice account, with a second number, and, set on call forwarding, that, when phone is out of signal of shut down it forward to google voice number... that number works on lte so ir works like a charm... but it is not an elegant solution...
I think next year should buy the tmo version and go all calls through lte, phone number with google voice and that is solved...
Just think what i feel... how frustrated i am... 5 years with this problem! the only tab did not had this problem was the first S, just S, (tab s with no number) tmo never help me... samsung usa never help me.... they only told me "do a factory reset" with all my patience anwer "i did like 100 factory reset already" but they told me "ok but make a factory reset" i knew all the time they will never help...
My last hope would be to talk with someone at samsung south korea from a high tech support, but cant get anyone talking in english
The final question is am i the only guy in usa that uses a s6 lte as a phone? or there are other people using a s6 as a phone and dont have this problem?
Thanks for your time

I remember the Tab S.... Still have mine sitting on a shelf somewhere LOL. There was a developer that put a phone rom out for it and with a little hacking I was able to use it as a phone with a Bluetooth set. I remember going into a T-Mobile store with it and they couldn't believe I was using it as a phone LOL. I had it in one of the Otterbox cases with the belt clip so it worked out well for awhile but just as a novelty to see peoples reactions LOL.
