can anyone who is lucky enough to have a Hero already comment on the battery life?
i find that the 1.5 port i have on my Polaris tears through the battery like i have never seen before. (even with all widgets disabled)
don't forget the hero has a 1350 battery fitted as standard
i have no problems with my hero and battery life....so far
As long as you dont enable GPS its fine. I get through the day with about 1/4 left.
And I Browse through wifi for about 1 hr on it. few calls, lots of txts. Few games. few apps like wifi fixer, locale
thanks for the info...
The battery life is better then my Touch HD and deffinetly better then my Diamond, and even when I keep wifi running I can get through a day without trouble,
I'm really surprised how long it lasts, wasn't expected at all,
Imagine how good it will be when an 1500mah or higher battery comes out
hi guys
im thinking of having the hero
jast a small Q
is the hero battery size is the same one as the touch HD battery size ???? (i didnt mean the capacity i mean the size of battery)

No, its thinner but longer. The HD is Shorter but fatter.
One thing I would add about battery life, and that is that when on standby it is excellent.
My Hero came off charge yesterday at about 11am and essentially sat on my desk barely being touched for the rest off the day - a couple of phone calls, a text message, and a few emails. According to the meter on the phone status, I'm at 70%, which means I'd probably have no qualms picking it up and going out now without worrying too much about my battery life.
On my G1, I know that had I left the phone for 24 hours on standby, I'd probably be down to less than 25% by now.
Regards,
Dave
I have not had my Hero long enough to make much of a comment on battery life though I had nothing to complain about until this morning.
I went to bed with about half battery life indicated and I just left the phone. When I got up this morning it had low battery - very unexpected.
I left WiFi off but I have left most settings at their default which means that the phone will be auto syncing my Google account for instance. Can anyone. suggest anything that will help me?
Thanks
My phone has been off charge now for 48 hours, and although it has been idle most of that time, it is still showing 40% battery life - uptime is 50hr 47mins, and awake time only 2hrs 21mins.
Are you sure you weren't running something that would drain the power? Also, check to see if the phone is continually dropping from 3G to 2G and back again as this will drain power significantly.
Regards,
Dave

Well, to be honest, anything is possible! I dont have amazing reception at home but I still think that was unusual battery drain. Has your phone been constantly connected? I know mine is all the time because of the auto sync with Google.
I guess so - I'm getting 3 bars HSDPA where it is currently sitting, so I guess the 3G signal is sufficiently strong for it to stay on 3G.

Dave
To save more power -
Goto 'settings' > Wireless controls > Mobile Network settings - then switch off 'enable always-on mobile' and if you can 'Data roaming'
You may have other apps that constantly check and refresh, change them to check at longer intervals - like twitter.
I can still browse internet and Market fine this way and battery time is extended.
Hi peeps
had my hero for about 1 month now this is second hand set and so far battery life is good about 2-3 days light use on idle i get 6-7days which i think is prtty good for what it dose on normal use i get 1-2 days
I'd suggest to charge the hero everyday. For Lithium-ion batteries it's best to keep them over 40% for a longer life-time. They don't suffer if you charge them very frequently.
And don't leave them off at 100% because that will have a negative effect on the life-time.
Hope that helps keeping your batteries in good shape

yeah it true its better to keep them topped up but for most people thats not alway possible. And in past i have let batterries go be low that and still got like 18months out of them
Wonder why but my HTC hero battery life not very good at all
doesnt last even a day with hardly any serious usage....maybe 30 mins wifi browsing, 30 mins phone browsing, less than 30 texts and maybe 10 mins call,
i had an app called battery status (full version) i wonder if this has been causing the problem....
its hard to effectively test the phone due to diff usage paterns ..any one had any prob with this particular app?
So here's the situation...basically am getting about 12-14hrs of battery life. I have been switching roms, sticking mostly with bionix. However it doesn't matter what rom I still average about the same.
I'm not sure what I actually should be getting so I thought I would ask. I user my phone for basic use; texting, checking email, 30 min podcast, and an app or something. I don't game or watch videos.
Can we here what people are getting and if there is something that can be done to get more life on my battery?

The other dozen threads on the same topic didn't provide enough information?
Use 2G/3G Network Switcher and stay in 2G mode unless you really need speeds faster than EDGE (downloading a podcast). For texting and email, 2G is fine and will help battery life. Also using Juice Defender can help as well.
Go download Auto Killer, and set it to whatever level you want.
Also, go wipe you battery stats.
See if that helps...
Yup I've done all the above. Just curious if I'm still getting what is standard. I've searched the forums but if you know the best place to look then point me in the right direction. Keep the advice coming

12-14 hours is pretty good. Best I got was with Franken-Twiz 3. I think the J16 modem in Franken-Twiz 4 is killing my battery faster so you can flash Modem J12 or try Bionix 1.8 which has Modem J12 in it.
how do you wipe battery stats?

Welp with 3g and wifi off I'm easily getting 16hours and on average I'll have 50-70% left of my battery.
I just normally use it as a phone thou. You know some emails, text messages, some surfing.
Just in case you think I'm nuts heres a screen shot as of now. 98% with 3hours on the battery and 48% with 16hours on the battery.
Last night I went to bed at 10pm and my phone was off the charger since 6am and I had 72% on the battery.
I've learned the more you fiddle with your phone the more battery it uses obviously. I've had several phones so I don't have to constantly play with it. Play videos or stream and well it will eat batteries. Use GPS and wifi it will destroy your battery life. Of course I'm not a power miser, but honestly I use it when I need it and when I don't it just sits there until I do.
Got it thanks

I'm getting similar performance with the JI6 OTA, and I generally leave both GPS and 3G on all the time. I just checked my battery stats and my phone's been off the charger for almost 4 hours and my battery percentage is still at 99%. Granted, I've only made two short calls and checked e-mail a few times but I'd call this very good performance. I also woke at 7:30am and surfed around on my phone reading forums and web sites (my display was on for the ENTIRE hour+) for over an hour this morning and when I plugged back in at 8:45 am, I'd used less than 10% battery. I'm also noticing that my phone is charging WAY faster than stock or JI2.
Personally, I have posted about this topic many times but I'm ignored. My battery was terrible before I rooted and did OCLF. After root+lag fix my battery literally tripled in life. I could go 2 days with the same amount of use. Watch videos, surf internet, make calls, do whatever and it would barely use my battery. After this JI6 update I am back to square one. I 'reconditioned' my battery by running it down to zero then charging it back up completely. It definitely helped but I'm still losing a percent by the minute just having the screen on.
Dont waste your time telling me to use juicedefender, turning off wifi, switching to 2g only, task killers, blah blah blah, or any of that crap. I've done it all. I"m still looking into the JI6 radio draining my battery though. Theres a lot of talk about that being an issue.
The JI6 Modem does drain your battery. No doubt about it. I've switched to JI2 and yes my GPS appeared to have suffered a bit and sometimes my Edge connection isn't as good as JI6, but way better battery life.
Or you can do what I do and leave your headphones plugged in and leave the music playing overnight. Seems to make my battery last about 2-4 hours more than it regularly would. Hope that helps

I have uninstalled any battery app because I noticed they drained my battery faster. What I have noticed about the phone, when I charge it with lets say 25 percent still remaining it charges faster,, naturally,, but the battery drains much much much faster. To remedy this,,i use the phone until the battery icon is blank and blinking before I start charging the phone. Naturally, this causes the phone to need a substantial amount of time to charge however the battery doesn't drain nearly as fast. I am a heavy user btw...give it a shot and confirm what I say.

I flashed bionix 1.8 two days ago, charged it up, wiped the battery stats, and let it dry clean.
The phone was in Auto mode for EDGE/WCDMA, reinstalled/downloaded my apps and some more, tested GPS on a few occasions, watched some HQ content on Youtube, and tested VideoPlayer, a few calls, some SMS and MMS, I listened to my music for the most part on it. 30+ hours later the phone finally drained.
With any stock FW's I could not get through more than 24 hours of a regular use with 2G mode only.
Currently I am at 79% at 11hr mark since unplugged.

True. You have to sacrifice something.
Hi. I know there are tonnes of battery related threads out there but I would appreciate if I got some personalized help.
I am running Trigger 3.2 Final with Bali v1.8.4 and the JK6 modem.
I have gone through all the modems available for Froyo and JK6 gives the best battery life for cell and data. No overclocking or anything.
The problem is I get extremely bad battery life on data on all modems. JK6 seems to be the best of the bad. With data off, I can get 20+hrs with light phone usage, but the moment data is turned on, the bat percentage just drops like a rock. If I enable data and browse the net with Opera Mini (no flash), a 100% charged battery can be reduced to to around 30% in around 1 hour. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
If it is the battery needed replacing, why do I get excellent cell life with no data activated. Bali is supposed to be battery efficient, but I am bleeding power. I bought those cheap knock off batteries from ebay and get the same results.
Brightness is on lowest, syncs are all off and email checks every hour I think. Nothing else I can think off can be chewing the battery.
I have calibrated the battery many times and makes no difference. I should also mention that I had worse battery life on the bionix roms.
On battery use,
Display takes up around 83%,
Cell Standby 11%,
Idle 5%
What can I do? Is there an app that will tell me if I should replace my battery or anything. I am all out of options right now
Bali Is The Problem
I just read about this same problem from other users, the Bali kernel eats up a charge cycle extremely fast and has even caused major over heating problems!
My suggestion is to go to a different kernel or change the ROM completely to something less power hungry
it could possibly be the batttery itself, mine did this a while back and replacing it helped, maybe even upgrade to the extended battery if a little more bulk doesn't bother you it's a great option try a different kernel, i use Bali and am not overclocked with the JK6 modem and text all the time at school I then got an iPod touch and stopped using my phone for music and it saves me an average of 30% battery 0_o idk why but oh well
So I just got an Amaze earlier this week, and my battery life until today was atrocious. Like full charge to dead in ~8 hours with medium usage. I tried doin the whole battery conditioning thing, running it dead, full charge, running it dead again, and have done that 3 times so far.
Yesterday, I lost 4% battery life in 3 minutes showing my girlfriend something on my phone. then 30% in 20 minutes watching netflix on my phone. Pretty much unusable battery life, and I thought that I would have to return the phone and go with a different model.
However, today, it has been off of the charger for 6 hours with the same medium usage, and it just ticked over from 98% to 97% battery life remaining.
What is your average with the phone? My last phone was the vibrant, and it had pretty good battery life. If this phone is gonna end up requiring a second battery, I dont wanna keep it. And with how erratic it has been so far, I can't just go off of what I've experienced.

make sure you are updated to the latest firmware, check for update settings from HTC on your phone..depending on my use, I can go for 24 hours of use, to 5 hours of use...I have also noticed where 4g is weak my battery gets eaten away very quickly...There is no way to tell weather you are using Hsdpa+ or UMTS unless you have a custom rom or modified notification icon...but near my house about a month ago it kept switching back and forth that means it was switching between 3g and 4g...although it will show 4g no matter if its HSDPA of UMTS...I complained to tmobile about my connections speed and after about month they said they were working in my area and my speeds are amazing now and battery life is much better...here's and app to tell what you are on and the signal strength...
https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5pbmRlcGljby5uZXRzdGF0Il0.
also put your screen on auto, and DO NOT use a task killer makes things worse...Connect to wifi whenever you can, weak wifi can also cause battery drainage...This is true of all phones on the market with 4g today...my moms my touch 4g used to get about 5 hours of battery, and she HAS NO INTERNET ON HER PLAN...SO I SWITCHED HER phone over to stickly 2g since she will never really need 4g...now she gets about 20 hours of battery time....4g is just a battery killer no matter what phone you're using...
So how about the battery in the Lumia 920.
After the Lumia 800 failed in this area it would be great to know if the 2000mA battery is big enough for this whole Thing

I've been using it for half a week now and battery is phenomenal even in LTE all the time. Will last you a full day off not a day and a half with moderate use. Full day heavy use probably.
You have nothing to worry about this time. Nokia got it right.
More details here: http://forums.wpcentral.com/showthread.php?t=200158
Mine sucks right now. I'm just using it for normal email updates and a few downloads from the app store and it'll be on 40% by 4-5pm. I've turned off a lot of the background updates on the live tiles too, but it's not making a difference.
Screen on time is disappointing.
Mine has excellent battery life. 2 days on a row on my last charge.
Ppl with battery life problems, I would suggest to visit the Nokia support forum.
Important
If you disable NFC (tap+send in settings) you have a HUGE improvement in battery life.
As mentioned above, disabling NFC and background apps will greatly improve battery life. I am more than satisfied.
I leave my data connection on 2G most of the day and it seems make the phone last all day, with heavy use. If I really need the faster connection I switch it to 3G. This seems to work for me
Full day, 3G use (using on a 3G only carrier, no LTE unfortunately). Moderate-to-heavy usage, not a problem getting back home, chilling on the sofa, doing what not, and having enough battery to last until bed time. FYI my day starts around 8-9 and I head to bed around 11ish+.
I hear battery life isn't as good when NFC is on. Don't know though, I never have NFC on anyways (really don't see how useful it is atm).
Battery saving Tips
This battery saving tip has been overlooked since WP7 first generation devices. The reason why some ppl will be having huge battery drain is due to apps running in the background. So, you need to think about the apps that you actually need to run in the background. Make sure all your email accounts are on the highest interval time to be checked and/or "as the item arrives". When you select as the item arrives I believe true push is being used which if you don't receive tons of emails will save battery in the end. The other apps settings are located here start screen>settings>swipe over to applications>background tasks>and block all apps that you can that don't need to be running background tasks. I for instance only have accuWeather app running background tasks. Another thing is you need to be aware of apps power usage...i noticed that accuWeather is far better at using less power consumption than the Weather channel app. Other tips are common knowledge. Disable NFC, use WIFI when available, turn off high sensitivity if you're not needing it, use low time-out for shutting off display and use low brightness. Be efficient!!
Good
Lasts me about 1hr for each 10% increment. About the same i was getting with the S3. While playing music its battery life seems to last longer than leaving it on standby :S Find standby kills battery some reason, just recently turned of nokia drive background app, hopefully that makes it last longer
Battery life has been excellent for me. Mine was fully charged on Wednesday morning @ 8 AM and was at 48% when I put it on the charger Thursday @ 2 PM with moderate uses. Unexpectedly, the battery life is much better while on the LTE network than when I'm using my SIM card not registered for LTE usage. Standby drain is very very good.

That's because WiFi stays connected when you're streaming music, whereas WiFi disconnects when on standby. Known windows issue that should be addressed by ms soon.

I get great battery life unless I enter into an LTE area. When I do, my phone gets VERY hot and the battery runs down in a few hours. Even if I'm not doing ANYTHING with the phone. Strange...

How do you switch the 920 to 2g mode? I only have 3g and 4g in the options on max speed? my old lg wp let me set either 2g or 3g, huge difference in battery life on that devic.
to be honest tho so far i'm impressed easily outlasts my old phone, just tried turning off the high sensitivity on the touch to see if it makes a difference.
also run down the phone till it turned itself off last night, tried turning it on got the warning icon of low battery, did it again then it started, data connectino wouldn't work battery said 0% remaining and it lasted just under half hour with me playing mirrors edge, makes me wonder how accurate the battery % is
Battery capacity seems to have been cut in half!
When I first got the 920, at 100% the estimated battery life would say 1 day and X hours. Now (2 weeks later) when my battery is at 100%, it now says 13-14 hours of estimated life. My battery also drains much faster now than it did in the first week of owning the 920. My use of the phone has not changed over the last two weeks. I'm always in an LTE area, WiFi on and I use bluetooth from time to time. Is this an issue that other people are experiencing?
I'm trying to figure out if I need to exchange my 920. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Thanks!
i found it was using 2% battery every hour whilst connected to a data connection - but not syncing anything, all backround tasks turned off. This seems a bit mental.
So it seems that battery isn't so good :/ Too bad because i was wondering to buy this phone.

After deep cycling the battery, I am back to the correct reading. I am now losing a little less than 1% of battery life per hour on standby!
