Had my device replaced by AT&T and came with 4.0.4 and I cannot root it. The non-counter increasing method says it's only for GB so I am left with the Odin method of flashing CWM.
But it's not working. I click start and all it does is say this :

not the wrong version, but maybe a bad copy of it ??
The PC environment is critical to this process, and often times, the files have conflicts..
Temporary shut down of any anti-virus software, HTC sync, etc. will help in the process.
Also, make sure you are using a powered rear USB port on the PC, and the factory cable if possible.
If problems still persist, re-download the files again, Odin included....g

Yes, that was the file I used.
It must have been something computer specific because I downloaded the same files to my office computer and it worked; come to think of it, I've always done it from my office computer.

I just got my phone back from the service centre. They did a factory reset to XDLI. Now I can't copy any files TO my phone via USB. The copy window just gets stuck and it doesn't move at all.
I can, however, access files and copy FROM the phone.
I have tried both MTP and PTP modes and both don't work. It's not the cable either - tried it with other devices.
What could the problem be? Because of this, I can't root my phone either because (I suspect) it doesn't transfer files even in recovery mode, so ODIN never starts flashing the firmware. (ODIN does detect the phone though, and starts the flashing operation - just that when it gets to the recovery.img part it never progresses)
Edit: It just gets stuck here for >5 minutes...

well, if noone knows anything, this is going back to the service centre again. and I just got it back from them today... what a waste of time
- You might try to uninstall the drivers and reinstall (preferably from the SGSIII Toolkit)?
- Are you using an original cable? I have had similar issues with 'fake' cables
- Try different USB ports (if possible use one on the rear of your PC)
Hope any of this works, good luck
tried all that just now. the cable works with all other devices. the weird thing is that i can copy FROM the phone, just not TO the phone.
if copy files to phone by usb don't work another alternative way to copy files to phone or vice versa you can use Airdroid, you can get it from the google play store

yeah...you just dont remove the usb during a flash....
That's forced download, plug the device to the pc and flash a ROM meant for your device.
We don't even know what model you own neither what you're trying to flash.

Check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243231
Notice that the device with issues is an I9100. Pay attention to the suggestions in on how to get odin to pass, NOT on what FILES to flash.
Get your I9100G gear ( I9100G ROMs and kernels and flash those instead).

ok.thank you very much but the last question.
im not in the download mode and i told you about that symbols can i flash when im not in the download mode or these symbols are from download
could you get my meaning?
Those symbols mean that your phone is practically begging you to flash something. It's called forced download.

so i have driver issue.
i google every where on the internet but they are all lame.
could you give me the link of galaxy s2 usb driver.:good:

It might be a bad ROM flash tho.
Those threads are meant to ve a guide.
You need to get your pc to see the device, then flash a proper stock I9100G ROM.

You cant flash a custom recovery on me7. I would read a little bit next time I think this has been posted three times today. Youll have to flash the stock me7 image to get back the stock recovery. Everytime you try to boot to recovery youll get put in download mode. You can boot normally by using the button combo for download mode and then denying it.
You also dont flash a stock restore file under bootloader you flash it under pda.

Thanks. Got that resolved a while ago! :good:
Hello, I've seen this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/samsung-xcover-4-sm-g390-twrp-magisk-t3927209 and I've tried like everything to root the phone. I don't understand a lot of this area so I'm just following everything I see on the article and even on youtube but nothing seems to work. The main problem, as far as I know, is that I've tried used odin 13, even odin 10 and it just doesn't flash on it. So I've searched like why is it always failing and some guy on youtube made a video about opening powershell and try to work from there but it doesn't work anyway. Is it possible to get some help? Or is it just impossible to root? Sorry again cause I'm kinda newbie on this but I've searched so many pages already that I'm probably going go give up soon.
PS: I tried to install twrp and magisk but the only model available is Xcover 3 and not XCover 4, tried also kingo root, odin and the powershell booting. Everything has an error. I already have USB Debugging and OEM activated, of course. Thanks in advance
@duckkz
Because your goal is to get a rooted Android, then take note that neither TWRP recovery nor Magisk framework must get installed ( flashed ) before. You can achieve this with running a couple of ADB / Fastboot command.
