[Q] Phone is modified so no OTA update possible.

Hi
So here is the situation. When my wife's phone was on 4.0.x I rooted it using Odin and CF-root. No problem, peace of cake and she could use market unlocker to change the market to show her the Japanese content instead of the Hong Kong content. She very happy. Then there came the Jelly Bean OTA update ... Update went well, but she lost root and i did not have rooted her phone again ...
Now there seems to be another OTA update but it refuses to install because the update software says the phone is "Modified" and then quits the update process.
So my guess is i need to download to complete 4.1.1 firmware package to update her phone using Odin and do a complete wipe of all data on the phone (excluding her MicroSD card), in the hope that will make her phone in a "original state" again. Am I right?
So i downloaded the firmware package called I9300ZSDLK4_I9300OZSDLK4_TGY.zip from the Sammobile website. But after extracting this zip file i see a file with the name "KIES_HOME_I9300ZSDLK4_I9300OZSDLK4_500022_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5"
Can i still use this file in Odin to overwrite the firmware on her phone? Or do I have to use some tricks with Kies to tell it to use this file to write to her phone? Please advice on the steps i need to follow to put her phone in a state it will accept OTA updates again.
Thank you
I think you can flash her phone using Odin, and the content in internal storage will not lost except the system files, unless you do a factory reset
And you can enter recovery to do a full wipe before flashing, to avoid some unknown issue
Did you download the zip file from hotfile? If not, would you please tell me the link? As a China mainland user, I can't download files in hotfile.com...
Thank you
Thanks for your reply, I indeed were send from the sammobile website to download the file from hotfile. I will put it on dropbox for a while.
btw i installed it by the use of Odin and it worked very well. The status is now "Normal again" and the OTA updater doesn't complain about any modification. Know that this I downloaded for the Hong Kong version of the I9300 Samsung Galaxy S3.

[Q] Online Location for Verizon OTA updates

Greetings,
Is there a way to locate the OTA update files from Verizon?
Background: I have a Pantech Marauder phone. It was previously rooted with ICS Root Unlocker 1.0. I'm an obvious noob, and I accepted the OTA update. I no longer have root, and I haven't been able to find any tools to tips that work anymore.
Idea: Build a custom ROM from the update if I can find the file.
I was thinking about trying my hand at putting together a custom ROM since I can't locate any for Pantech Marauder. There are several online requests for stock ROMs; however, those requests are unanswered. I was thinking that if I could at least get my hands on the update that was pushed to my phone then perhaps I could work with that following some guides for building custom ROMs.
Is there a way to find the OTA update file location online? Perhaps from Verizon for manual download (I've searched) or Google Code? I tried looking on my phone for the file; however, without root, I couldn't find it. I tried using file browsers and searching for files such as "update" and file types such as ZIP. I also tried search for S910LVWD211F.D1 (the update).
Or, am I completely out to lunch on this one?
Same here
Would be sweet to see a custom Rom

[Q] GT-S7560M Update trouble

So I have an old Galaxy Ace 2 (GT-S7560M) That is still on 4.0.4. It is super slow and I would like to update it to JB. Looked around and found a video how to update. Followed the steps. Odin fails I get a Security Check error ID 0x30 on the phone. On a second look at the files I was using turns out the PIT file is EUR so I'm guessing that’s the issue since Odin throws the error when it starts doing re-partitioning. However when I try to find one for NA I can't seem to get anywhere. So am I missing something? The phone is completely stock never been flashed or anything. Has been in use out of the box for a year or 2. How can I update it since Kies claims I have the latest FW?

Couldnt get monthly security updates 965F

Hi guys,
New here
I'm, facing a problem with Android Updates. I couldn't get monthly security patches for 965F. But when i check on Sammobile there are several new security patches that my phone doesn't have. (Currently on September Security patch) (XXV csc ) What to do ?
Thanks,
Have you ever flashed a Samsung phone with Odin? I was noticing the same thing, the update was not coming straight to my phone, so I downloaded the appropriate firmware and flashed it to my phone with Odin. Not a big deal once you know how to use Odin and you have it set up on your PC or Mac.

I was wondering the same myself, I figured possibly it has something to do with the CSC and or the SIM card you are using as compared to the IMEI of the phone maybe? Or else possibly there is no update been issued for our particular combination. I use the app Updato and the version I was stuck on is showing as the latest one.
