When I talk to someone weither I call them or they call me, they get a echo. My phone is rooted and the gps fix only. Is there a setting or something I can do to fix this. I have tried to reboot my phone to fix it with no luck. Does or has any one else have or had this problem?

I've had this problem before, and it's usually because I'm using a Bluetooth headset. This can also happen with a 3.5mm headset or if you are on speaker. Lastly, if none of those are causing the problem, it could be the government is tapping your phone.. so hide the pot! LOL

What's up with that? Even with headphones plugged in the notification sounds go through the external speaker?
Silliness.
Buuuuuuump no one?

I would like to know the answer to this as well, my previous HTC when headphones are plugged in all sounds including notifications went through them, yet the S3 sends notifications to the external speaker, surely this is a bug?
It's absurd and not the only Samsung phone that does it. The thing that strikes me as odd is there aren't many people that seem to care about it. Google searches hardly brings up **** and this thread has gotten like 60 views but 1 response...which is you with the same question.
My Galaxy Nexus didn't have this problem. Annoying as fuc-

That's ok, but when your phone is in your pocket how do you know if you have a text/email unless you put it on vibrate?
On the top screen of your phone you will see a small i which stands for notification, i dont know whats it called but the settings menu on top of your phone drag it down and click notifications then the letter i will disappear now all notifications will alert you normally via sound like call and texts.

oops i meant i put it to vibrate. however if u do this there will be a slight pause in the music when a notification comes in(i think it only applies to certain functions like sms. whatsapp nofs dont pause my music)
I can't believe no one cares about this... I still want to hear my notifications over my headphones... Work email, personal email, specific ringtones for individual calls and texts... the list goes on. I've owned Mostly HTC, but even my Palm Pre and older Sanyo phones were smart enough to mute the external speaker when connecting headphones.
Bizarre.
I don't know if this has been explained prior to my response. Notifications work fine over blue tooth.

The issue was never Bluetooth. The problem is, you can have you headphones plugged in while sitting in the library, and if you get a notification, it will blast the entire room. Similarly, if you are in your car, the notifications don't make it to your aux port, and also, if you use the aux port, Bluetooth will not play the audio simultaneously. That's crap. On CM-based ROMs this works just fine. Definitely not a hardware issue. Sure sucks for people who use hands free kits in their cars
Same issue here with the external speaker not being muted when earphones plugged in, and unlike previous comments, issue persists when using bluetooth. Currently using Omega v32.1.
This problem affects my Galaxy Note 2 as well. Wow. How does no one else care about this? I don't understand why people would put their phone on silent just because they are listening to music. CM10 sort of fixed this issue on my GS3, but I can't use that on the gn2 because of all the custom stylus integration.
It's definitely an android thing and I can't believe that in almost 2 years since it's been logged, no traction appears to have been made.
Did a quick search through the developer forums to see if anyone has made a mod, but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know, if one the many talented developers on XDA, have done anything here?
EDIT: Turns out there is an app already out there to solve this, but interesting that it's not standard in the OS.

SoundAbout barely works, FYI. I have had major issues after installing this. Sound cutting in and out just using the earpiece.

You could try SoundAbout, but as ScrapMaker states, it may cause issues with the sound cutting in/out using just the earpiece.
I wasn't going to try using it, but have over the last few days and it seems to work ok for me. Give it a go and see if it works (as I haven't been able to find anything else on the play store yet)...
I just got the galaxy note 2 yestersay and noticed the headphine issue today while working on the motorcycle. With the headohines on I can't hear the phone ring or notificationsn. what I hear instead is the music I'm listening to go mute the length of the ringing while anyone around me hears my ringing which comes off a little rude on my part and a bit annoying that it doesn't just ring through the headset.
I'm going over the settings and searching the Web like crazy but not finding an actual solution just work arounds about muting the ringer and/our putting it on vibe, neither of which is what I'm wanting or works for me.
Anyone else out there getting callers telling you that they hear an echo when talking to you on any of these AOSP ROM's while connected to AUX port while driving (happened with viper rez too)? Upgraded my cable to monster and it made no difference. Maybe there's a setting I'm overlooking?

It might have a bit to do with AOSP, but to me it sounds like something you can't avoid when you use the your car stereo to make calls. The other persons voice pumping through your stereo, and thus back into your microphone. Just something you can't avoid.

AOSP does have some funky things going on with calling, but whenever you put someone on speaker phone, it is obvious to that person.

open the phone app, hit the menu button and then hit settings. Make sure you select "enable noise suppression" and "enable voice privacy" and see if that helps the problem.
I have those setting enabled and I do not notice any echo or weirdness while using speakerphone or headphones.
I haven't attempted to call myself on another phone to hear what it sounds like to the other person when they're on speaker, but so far nobody has asked me "hey, do you have me on speakerphone?" when I'm using it...
Oh also, are you using the aux port to connect to speakers only, or do you have an external microphone also?

Honestly, I don't know. I don't see a mic anywhere. I'm plugging the rezound directly into the aux port using monster aux cable. Its a 2007 328i and I think I may see what could be a mic under the stereo but I'm not sure. Btw, yes, suppression and voice privacy are both checked! Thanks for the response!

Have you tried a factory reset.
Maybe an app is causing the issue. You'll never no. If worse happens the speakers went bad.

Are external speaker and headphone jack somehow connected? Because, headphone doesn't work as well.. The sound is very very low on headphones..

Just got my G3. I have it rooted and have Xposed and G3 Tweaksbox. I don't think I froze anything that would have to do with the mic/speakerphone.
When my speaker is on, my mic doesn't work.
Mic works fine otherwise, so it can't be a hardware issue.
Any ideas?
I disabled all xposed modules and unfroze all apps and sane thing.
Can someone confirm they don't have this issue on a Verizon phone?
I really don't want to factory reset already.
Could someone just test this out and let me know if you don't have the issue?
Just make a call, turn on the speaker and see if the party on the other end can hear you talking. With the speaker on, the other party can't hear me, if I turn the speaker off, they can.
Be best if it's someone with a Verizon phone.
If it works for someone else on Verizon, I guess I'll go with the factory reset. The phone has only been out a few days, I guess it's possible it's a bug and I'm just the first person who noticed it, but I doubt it.

Are you positive it's working for you?
I did a factory reset and it's still not working.
I did take off my case and now there's some audio, but it's all a low static. I call a vm I have and start talking with speaker off and it's fine, then I turn speaker on and I get all static and hissing and can't hear myself at all.
I don't see how it could be hardware, but I guess it's possible. Sure seems like a system bug, but if it's working for you, I guess not. You are on 10B?

Definitely working ok for me. I had several speakerphone conversations over the past few days. Maybe try the LG Suite to reinstall completely? If that doesn't work I'd get a warranty replacement on the way. Edit: 10B software
Instead of dialing my vm, I dialed another phone line that I picked up.
As soon as I hit the speaker button, I hear static and can't hear myself talking anymore on the 2nd phone when I'm talking on the cell.
I guess the phone is going back.
Flashed back to factory image and same problem.
I guess it's my hardware.
Had phone replaced today and all is working now. Clearly I had a defective phone.
I guess these phones have 2 mics, one for use with speakerphone and one when not on speaker?

Pretty strange for sure. How did you reflash stock? Where did you find the image/tool for VS985? I don't see it listed on the LG Suite site.

LG Suite doesn't appear to work for Verizon G3.
You need to follow this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799647
It was very easy and got me back to 100% stock.
Most smart phones have several microphones now for noise cancellation. The normal mic is down at the bottom. When you turn on the speaker it then switches to a different Mic away from the speaker to prevent feedback.
Your phone had a dead Mic.
I just tested mine to see if I had the issue (just in case).
No problem.
Hey XDA folks, I'm new to the V30, and I've searched and searched, both here and elsewhere, and can't solve this issue, so I'll ask.
When I initiate or receive or call (doesn't seem to matter which), the other person hears an "echo" of their own voice. It fades away and is gone completely (I think?) after 30-40 seconds but is super annoying to people at first. I don't make a ton of voice calls but I do use the phone daily for work, so I need it to work correctly.
None of the suggested fixes or potential problems I've found elsewhere seem to make a difference: VoLTE, WIFI calling, Noise Suppression, Voice Clarity, and the case I've been using - same issue with any of these on or even all off. I'm using Mint Mobile (T-Mobile network), and used the same SIM with two other phones without incident. Using latest stock firmware on this H932, unrooted.
Have any of you experienced something similar? What did you do to correct it, and what did not work? Sorry if this has been covered, and I hate starting new threads for my own problems, but I've been unable to find anything similar here.
The only time I head something like that on MY end is if someone is using speakerphone. I have friends who do that and it's annoying. Are you using speaker phone mode?
Or if someone is using a VoIP "internet" phone like Vonage.

I wish I could say yes, but no, I never use speaker phone mode. And it happens both over VoIP (WIFI), VoLTE, and regular calls.
The really strange part about it is that the echo fades away over the course of 30-40 seconds or so, either completely or until it isn't very noticeable. This leads me to believe the problem is in software/firmware, not hardware, but beyond that I'm mystified.
