Update soon - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Righttt... Now guys the 2.1 update is little more than a week away. But the developers are at work looking at the prototype bootloader (for the mini anyway).
So question is do I update? Or dont i? Because I dont want to update to find out the bootloader gets cracked and I cant use my phones full potential. Will the official update inhibit me from getting a cracked bootloader?
And i'd like to know what all the rest of you on the forum are going to do, wait or update?

I would wait, at least ultil someone have root, and also have confirmed that you can flash back to 1.6 if wanted...
SE may be able to patch the firmware before they release the update, and then there will perhaps be no way back for the once who didn´t wait and updated their phones, and thats why i would wait...
I would actually also like the XDA DEVS to hide any progress (call it "go undercover" or "away from the XDA forums"), as i know for shure that all the phone manufactores are reading here at XDA and "other places" on the web too...
If SE see that XDA DEVS get too far, SE can easy decide to hold back the update some time longer to make the needed changes to lock down the new firmware even better...
I really hope that XDA DEVS beat SE in this race...

you have a point. i think i will just wait around and hope for a while then...

I don´t believe that there will be an update soon. If there were only 2-3 weeks until update, why X8 was released with 1.6 instead of holding it for 2 weeks and releasing it with 2.1? SE did release X8 with 1.6 which was a terrible marketing step because it had no other choice - i.e. update was too far away.
Also, you call off a product (and 2.1 update is a product) 3-4 days before it had to hit the market, swallowing the consequences, only if something went terribly wrong.
So hold your horses. And get used to 1.6

One of my contacts in SE tells me that a new version should appear in week 43 (25th - 31rd October). Let's just hope for an early arrival

If official information can´t be trusted, why should we trust unofficial. I will believe only when I´ll see my X10 mini pro running 2.1, and this is not going to happen soon.

This is a very good point..

test version (not final) for mini leaked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808359

So, they are releasing final candidates now. Which means a month ago or it was a big lie, or something really bad was discovered and they realised they have to do it from the scratch and need one more month. Neither way I don´t trust SE. If release candidates will be released soon, we are not looking at October, but at the end of November at best. Operators will not be willing to release an untested product onto the market, and SE will blame operators for delays. smart move Frik Skogberg.

I'm sure I read somewhere that 1.6 does not support Bluetooth HID such as keyboards.
Unless I am mistaken, you should wait a few days until 2.1 is released and try then.

With Telstra, although i debranded from x10a to x10i, the general forums say im on the correct firmware, will try unlocking the phone and using my other sim cards. I didnt really care about android over9000 firmware update until now, want my Hd recording, 16m colors and bluetooth 2.1 HID DAMMNIT.
There is an app for it. There is an app that allows you to connect a BT keyboard to the x10/android 1.6 phone.
I've tried it my self, and it worked. But I normally use it with my computer instead.
I can't quite remember the name. But it was a bit trublesome to use it imo.
But it does work!
All I remember is that I searched for BT HID or something in the Market.
If you want to be able to use enter/space etc.. youl'l need to pay for the app.

My expectations of getting 2.1 are by Q3 2011, we have already been delayed 6months and im still on 014 so by the time its ready for my carrier it wont be til atleast december. i read somewhere that 2.1 would be coming out sometime this week OTA for areas with the majority of SE users.

Sorry to burst your bubble... but its Multi (2 point) touch for the X10.. not the e10 or u10 (Sony has said many times.. "no multi touch for the mini or pro") this update will probably just enable ANT to communicate with excersise and health monitoring devices. unless your a fitness freak or packing a pacemaker I wouldn't get to excited.
(actually.. if you ARE packing a pacemaker I wouldn't recommend getting too excited either
Sheesh the amount that this gets thrashed on here I am surprised people can get so excited about something we know isn't happening!

New Updates ?

Hi
It has been a while since last galaxy s2 got an official update ?!
dose anyone know why ?
world wide no any official update since the arrival of Kh3 which was a month and a week ago ?
we usual got updates every 1 to 2 weeks ?!
2.3.5 is on its way.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
so that is why updates stoped ?
and i didnt hear that 2.3.5 will be released to galaxy s2 are you sure ?
ice cream's on the way
I'm still waiting for the official 2.3.4 update (I have an unlocked phone from the UK). The current firmware has a weird bug that causes the data connection to occasionally drop... So I'm hoping the next update fixes this.
will 2.3.5 be official to galaxy s2 ?

I had a phone die from bad Samsung officially released FW after a KIES update. Plus Samsung wouldn't support it even though it was "incorrectly placed by them", and given the green light for my region (and I went through the finger pointing game between Samsung/carrier)
Odin is definitely the way to go. You get a million times better support from here over Samsung if anything goes wrong...

i think it take again a while before an update comes! i don't get it the big successor of samsung and sgs1 again first an update!
Ehh...so far no one really answered the OPs question. Obviously he knows there are custom solutions out there but he simply asked about an official Kies update. I am on XEU as well and am frustrated by the lack of an official update in over 2 months. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone is going to be able to give you any reason why there hasn't been updates or any information on when one may be coming. Samfirmware isn't really official and I haven't seen any quotes from an official Samsung source like their twitter. Seems like we just have to wait and suffer with the battery bug and the data connection issues...
I'm also very disappointed with speed of Samsung in releasing new updates. Anyway now I have HTC Sensation for test (Czech) and Android is still 2.3.3, but in Germany it is 2.3.4
So I would like to mainly ask Google to step into this jungle and make some order. Otherwise, I think people will turn to iOS or WM 7.5, where updates are more clear...

HAAAAAAX!!!
I think it's just a bugfix update. But maybe it'll boost up performance a little, as upgrade from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 did.
There's still that obnoxious LED bug which they HAVE TO fix.

No I was saying there is a pre alpha version (AOSP + CM) build of Jellybean courtesy of some XDA developers on here, Sony haven't released ICS for everyone yet and it's been almost half a year!, there is no chance they'll release an official beta any time soon.
Well, I believe in sony. Because they have done brilliant support. And they said they will give a software support for 16 month. So make.believe for jelly bean update.
