[Q] about restore data through CMW

i tried to take a stock rom(KG5) and take everything out of it.
by everything i mean to take everything im not using(from the stock rom-which is the most[prefer a lot of 3rd party apps])
when i flashed it without all these things i automatically restored data from the CMW backup i did.
the result is wicked!! but...
here is my qustion:
what kind of apps the restore data actually restore. i know it restored the launcher im using(because i eraced the TW LAUNCHER from the CMW file)and my other apps but does it restore all of the samsung apps?samsung APK's?
i figure its not because going to SYSTEM\APPS shows no sing of the other APK but i might be wrong.
i wanted to share it with other people but i figured that if it restore other APK or SAMSUNG apps it's useless. does it?
thanks for the help.
I would think when you do a backup in CWM it will back up exactly what you have on the phone at the time.
If you flash a new rom then restore from CWM, all you are going to do is write over your new rom and replace whatever was on your phone at the time you made your backup.
you didnt understood.
i ment that i did advanced restore---restore data and not a whole restore option(or restore system option).
i did changed the rom, kernel and modem(it didnt restore it from the old backup) but im not sure about the actual system files
I am also interested in this so i dont make another thread on the subject.
So using CWM restore, what does restore data and restore system actually restore .
Thx for your time.
data restore restores your /data partition
It is all user apps that you have installed and most settings.
System restore restores all apps that is preinstalled on the phone/in the rom that you have backed up.
So if you flash another rom, and then only restore data in advaced restore you will only restore your own apps from market or manually installed.
So i will get my own apps back and the settings i had before .
Thx alot man.
Not all settings, but all your app settings.
Most system settings are stored under /system
Like wifi, apn and stuff like that.

[Q] titanium backup restore

What's the best way to restore in titanium backup after flashing to a new ROM?
From an apps perspective, have the phone setup the way I want, apps frozen, etc I thought after flashing, I would be able to restore to that setup, but clearly doing something wrong. I do a batch restore and wind up will old apps, unfrozen apps and basically have to do the whole setup over.
Assuming this is user error, and hoping someone can provide insight. Do you create an update.zip and flash to that?
Thanks.
I don't believe you can save frozen app setups and such. All the update.zip does is allow you to flash titanium backup in recovery so you don't have to download it from market again and is just installed as a system app

You can choose what to restore when you you do that batch restore.
Maybe you are not setting it up right?
Every other night i have TB set to backup new data for selected apps,
New versions of selected apps
System data like messages, call logs, etc...
I can then restore them almost perfectly. Opera bookmarks give me fits, but that's about it.

tittanium ,,,

Little problem when I install a new rom...........all my apps aren't on tittanium thus not allowing me to restore them. I have backed them up prior to installing the rom but they aren't there when I open the package option to restore them ! Luckily I can restore my previopus rom through back up, but I am wondering why the apps keep disappearing as they never used to.
Thanks

set the backup location in settings

[Q] How to backup multi-user application with Titanium

Hello,
I'm facing a problem I couldn't find a solution to:
Android 4.2 introduced multi user feature, which is very useful for tablets.
My problem is how to back the users applications with Titanium. It works ok for the main user, but fails on restoring for the secondary user. Some strange things happen during restore:
1. Titanium didn't extract apps list for the secondary user, even though I directed Titanium to the right backup locations and saw the files there.
2. When I restored on the second user from the first user backup directory, the app was installed on the two users accounts, then I got wrong UID warning on every boot. I hade to wipe data to get rid of that...
To recap: right now I can only backup and restore apps for the main user account. I will appreciate any help on how to do it for the secondary account as well.
Thanks!
Thank you.
Is there another solution or workaround for this issue?

Back up apps with data and settings

Hello all,
after trying several roms at the moment, it bothers me more and more to install all the necessary apps again, set them up, log them in etc..
There is Titanium Backup etc. but I read that these have problems with Android 12/13. Is there an app that can help me here?
I imagine it like this: Install on existing system, select apps, then it will create a file with the apps, settings etc. In the new Rom, I install the app and say, please restore backup X. Then everything is there again as usual, without reconfiguration etc..
Thanks and greetings
Use ADB.
