[Q]SMS sound notification cut off - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I've a problem (or at least an annoying fact...) with my SMS notification sound since I#ve got my HD2 five months ago. But now I just can't stand it anymore
When recieving an SMS, the notification sound starts to play, but then (after about three seconds) the sound is just cut off. So if my notification would be a speech with "This is the notification sound" it would play like "This is the notific". I've tried a build in (very short) sound, and it works, as long as its under about three seconds. And I tried it with longer ones (over six seconds). Then, the sound is cut of periodically... So if my notification would be "This is the notification sound. And now you hear an even longer version of it" it would play like "This is the notific *silent* d now you he *silent* on of it.".
This happens on about 80% of the messages I get, the rest plays the notification just fine. There is no difference if the device is locked or not, or if I'm on some tab or just the home screen.
I tried to find some settings for this, used google and searched the forum for about two days about this topic but couldn't find an answer.
I think it might have something to do with the option to repeat a notification tone? But it's unchecked and the option is disabled by default (or Sense).
Maybe you have a solution for this.
Thanks in advice!

[FIXED] VAlert 1.21 - Customize vibration pattern

VAlert
Customize vibration on phone ring
This small program allows customizing vibration incoming call alerts.
Windows based phones vibrate either before the ring or constantly during the ring.
Having a short ringtone can possibly solve this problem, but with long mp3 ringtone the phone will constantly vibrate during the ring.
This program will enable Windows Mobile phones to produce short vibrations when the phone rings.
Vibration patterns can be easily changed by the user.
Possibly to match vibration patterns to the ringtone, so the phone will vibrate in a rhythm.
Very low (~4K) memory usage
This software is a freeware.
How to use
1. Install the CAB
2. Enjoy the program with default settings
3. The program is hidden by default. To display program window (if needed), run the program again
7. In Phone->Options make sure ring type is Vibrate and Ring
4. Edit script.txt to change vibration pattern. Every line in the file is a pair of vibration length and note pause
5. From the program window run Menu->Test to test the created pattern
6. Perform Menu->Hide to hide program window
What's new:
- More devices support, including non-HTC
- The installer executes the program upon installation (no soft reset required)
- No vibration on waiting call
- Support for incoming call ring mute (stop vibration)
- Silent start
- Even lower memory footprint - ~4K on standby (was 11K before)
sounds cool
gunna try now
you should make it so you tap the screen to show when u want it to vibrate instead of editing the .txt file
Edit: Great app but confusing to change the pattern
Edit2: lol doesnt seem to work on my vogue when i go to phone->options and press play its just a long vibrate
Ohh man i was about to post a thread on something like this. Thank you so much for making this!
Sounds nice. Will try it out. Thanks for sharing.

Play from phone options is not implemented. Open the program and click Menu->Test or just try an incoming call.

hmm.it may be useful.thx.

+ 100 i would guess
Downloading now,.
Thanks for sharing sir!
to save people the bother of working it out themselves, and to get everyone started...
here's my version of the Nokia classic message vibration
i can't hum it, so you'll need to try it, i guess!
Edit : Oh, by the way... is it possible to do something like this for recieving SMS / MMS / Email, or is that a different process altogether?

Yeah, that's what I wanted to ask too! Would be awesome, would be a very useful app, thanks. And yup, maybe an easier way to edit vibrates would be nice. However, it's cool now, for a version 1.
Future versions
Post your suggestions. I am making a list of changes for the next version.
Suggestions :
- a settings UI on the device (instead of having to pull the txt file off to PC and edit and then put back in on device)
- ability to change between multiple vibrate scripts (via drop-down menu or list?)
- if possible (?) ability to use vibrate scripts for SMS / MMS / Email / Other alerts
- vibe scripts that match pattern with the actual ring / message tone would be VERY cool
excellent little program, thanks a lot for the effort
if the other message alerts can be changed from within this (or even just another separate small app) it's just what i'm looking for!
and please can other people post their script efforts, it'd be good to have several pre-sets to start out with.
there might be a slight bug in this
a few calls have come through recently, the vibrate kicks in itself and the ringtone does not play for about 10 seconds or so.
also the programmed pattern seems distorted.
it might just be my device, as i'm noticing that S2U2's full screen call ID has been struggling to kick in when a call comes in these days since i started using Manilla2D as well.
it might be that the device is struggling to find the ID picture and the ringtone and the vibrate pattern at the same time, all the while trying to run M2D.
i'd check if it works correctly without all these extras running, but M2D and S2U2 are pretty much essentials for me these days.
anyone else care to help?

Do you have this problem with all calls or just some?
What do you mean by distorted pattern?
Does this problem happens when VAlert is disabled?
Thanks works great on my prophet with 6.1

That's not a delay. By default (there is a registry setting to change it) the ring is delayed by 2 seconds. VAlert does not have that delay, so it will always start vibrating 2 seconds before the ring.
Nice tool... works goodm i like it!!!

Notification LED - Missed Call, Email, SMS/MMS Timout

Hi,
I am currently using this outstanding phone and really love it except for the fact that the aholes at HTC didnt want to release a WM 6.5 ROM upgrade for it, but hey thats another story.
Perhaps my biggest annoyance is that much like my old Diamond, the Notification LED on the Dpad which flashes when a notification event occurs cannot seem to be customized or set to flash indenfinately until the notification event has been looked at.
Is there anyway to hack the registry or something so that it stays on till the notification has been looked at?
Thanks

Some very annoying problems and solutions so far! Please read and check!

EDIT: I will include fixes / solutions whenever i find them for problems we face in DX
DX is an awesome device, spec and style wise. But over the few days i had used my DX i have found some rather annoying problems. This is the list. Please read and check each event and report if you also have the same problem with same apps also. And its not a problem with the app, just the DX doesnt play nice with them. Atleast thats what i think as i have used them in other devices and are problem free.
1. Viber + Poweramp: We all like viber chatting and may at the same time listen to music on Poweramp. But if you maximize and minimize the keypad in viber, there is a sound lag and a pop crack sound always. The only solution is to disable your profile to silent or vibration. Note: Stock player does not create any sound hiccups. I havent tested any other player either.
SOLUTION: PowerAmp > Settings > Audio Focus > Untick "Short Audio Focus Change"
** After un-ticking there were no sound hiccups when i repeated the scenario as explained in 1
2. Poweramp: no need for an introduction as no one i know uses the stock htc music player. Suppose you are listening to a song and your device is in standby mode (screen off) and the song changes to the next song, the volume of the next song suddenly reduces to a low level. But the volume knob is same as where you set it. The solution is to close poweramp and start that song. This doesn't happen much, but it does happen.
3. Status bar drop down: While you are browsing a site like 9gag, you may stop to read the meme. During that time the HTC browser or HTC Sense decides to drop down the status bar automatically. This happens like every 10-20 seconds. The status bar just drops down instead of staying hidden. It does go hidden again within a second, but is rather annoying. The status bar should not show up unless i touch or drag the page down.
Please share your experiences if you have similar or any other problem.

[Tasker Q] Icon not showing up over keyguard after upgrade to 4.3

Fairly simple setup (newbie user of tasker ), which worked up until and inclusive of 4.1.x on S3, consisting in a sound alert and an icon to STOP the alert (acknowledge), upon receipt of a specific SMS (string inside the SMS), which icon was showing ON TOP of the screen lock (via the "show over keyguard" set to ON).
Since the upgrade to 4.3 the alert partially works as before (SMS comes in, music starts), with one (MAJOR) exception: the icon meant to allow me to stop the alert music now requires unlocking the phone, first, prior to being able to see/access it. Any ideas?
[Useless info, meant to only support my plea for assistance ] If you picture these alerts coming to me at the oddest hours of the night (critical alerts from work), you could imagine how pleasant it is to try and unlock a phone in total darkness, barely awake, to stop the annoyance of the sound waking up the entire house inhabitants, before being able to stop it.

[Q] HAPTIC feedback is hard to kill on my S4 Lollipop. It won't stop vibrating. lol

Hi,
I've found that vibrations and the HAPTIC feedback is HARD TO KILL, on my Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545) running Android 5.0.1 (OC1) Lollipop. It won't stop it's little buzzes! lol
Background:
- Running one of the later versions of the OC1 update from muniz_ri (Thank you muniz_ri!!!)
- Problem also occurred with my previous version of that same update (version 3 days after muniz_ri opened his thread)
- Problem is subtle and, while I am sure it happens, it seems inconsistent at times.
The problem:
- My phone vibrates sometimes.
Ok, granted that's not a problem for everyone, but I think it IS a problem if:
1) you've carefully TURNED OFF ALL vibration options,
2) You've disabled HAPTIC feedback in multiple menus, and
3) You've even dragged all three VIBRATION INTENSITY sliders all the way to the left/off positions (Incoming call, Notifications, and Haptic feedback)
4) You're OCD like me.
Anyway, after all that, I still notice tiny "haptic like" vibration activations here and there. Incoming calls mostly though I've noticed other vibration activations sometimes when making menu selections, or changes, etc.
It's weird and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing or if it's maybe a "New Version of Android" thing? (I came from 4.4.2 where the only vibration I couldn't disable was the "power-on" buzz)
Thanks all. Have a great weekend

Specifically... I've noticed I CONSISTENTLY get the little tiny "haptic feedback" buzz when sliding either the red or green buttons to answer or reject an incoming call. wth
Again, I've disabled all vibrations of any kind in every menu that I am aware of (I'm a battery preserving nut) but I cannot seem to stop this version of android from buzzing. (through two different installs of lollipop, btw)
Am I the only one? Does anyone know what I am missing? Is haptic feedback a hardcoded non-optional standard operation under certain circumstances under 5.0.1 (OC1)?
Thanks
Can't stop MY BUZZ
OK seriously, to try to clear this issue, I even just flashed muniz_ri's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4708661) latest version of the OC1 upgrade with NK4 bootloader ROM.
As instructed in his upgrade without losing root post, I used FlashFire 0.20 and, for the heck of it, I chose his DEODEXED variant. Everything went awesome. I am so grateful to muniz_ri for this upgrade and for all his generous work.
However, my Samsung Galaxy S4 on Verizon's network still freakin' vibrates when it wants to!!!
(Please see previous posts for the laundry list of menus I've configured to try to stop my phone from vibrating when I want it to stop. Also note that I'm running in "Power Saving Mode")
This problem did not happen to me ever under any of my previous android versions before 5.0.1 Lollipop (OC1). When I set the phone to silent it was silent, when I set it to sound it made sounds and when I set it to vibrate (haptic or otherwise) it vibrated.
Only now, since upgrading (and this is my third wipe and update of 5.0.1), does my phone seem to persist in throwing vibes when it damn well pleases. lol
Am I missing something?
Am I the only one?
Is this normal?
Are you having a nice day?
Thanks for any insight,
Joe C.
