I rooted my eris awhile back and my first recovery i had was ra recovery v1.6.2 i herd about clockwork so i installed it on my phone all i want to do is go back to re recovery v1.6.2 but i want to do it the write way my phone has been running so good that i dont want to screw it know.Half way down on clockwork it says flash back to alt.recovery ra v1.6.2 would that be all i had to do.
that should work for you
Yes you can use flash the alt recovery option and flash amon ra back onto your phone. You will be unable to use ROM Manager anymore since it requires clockworkMod to be on the phone. You are safe to flash amon's.

Hi all ok i installed clockwork about 3 month ago and i been checking out all the differnt roms out there i've had no problems evry thing is good. I have been reading alot of post about clockwork and how you should get read of it.Should i got back to the other ra recovery v1.6.2
clockwork <= amon ra
If its working for you i see no reason to switch.
Thats just more flashing which woud seem to be more risk to me.
But the general consensus as far as I've read is that amon ra is better for the Eris, here-say perhaps but thats what most people seem to agree on.
With that said if you have amon ra, you can still use clockwork from rom manager, but not vice versa. so in my opinion amon ra is better as you can have the best of both worlds.
Yes, you have nothing to lose and only piece of mind to gain.
If i want to go back to ra recovery v1.6.2 can i flash it threw clockwork. There is a spot on clockwork were it says flash alternate recovery.

I would recommend flashing amon ra through fastboot instead. Instructions should be on the thread containing the amon ra recovery image. I don't have a link - should be in the eris roll-up thread sticky. Then you can use rom manager to install clockwork and temporarily boot into it whenever you want to use clockwork.
I'm trying to root a Droid Eris(Still on 1.5,oddly) and I use Universal AndRoot to root it because I didn't have a PC with me...when I flash ClockworkMod Recovery via ROM Manager and reboot to recovery,I get the stock recovery. Does anyone know why?

Clockwork is not the recommended process for this, goto the dev forums and checkout the sticky regarding clockwork. I would recommend using Amons recovery with the one click root method.

I've been using ROM Manager and Clockwork Mod for many months without a hitch.
From Amon RA, flash update.zip which is already on your SD card. ROM Manager puts that there, and it takes you into Clockwork Mod Recovery. This update.zip is always temporary, it doesn't permanently overwrite anything , but it's a good thing because now you have the best of both worlds. Amon RA and Clockwork Mod.
Any questions?
I don't know if what I am doing in completely correct. This is what I did: I Rooted it with super one click the phone had stock android 2.1, then installed rom manager. I installed recovery from rom manager, then proceeded to do up vol/down vol/power and go in to the 2e recovery then I have to press reinstall packages. Is the last step always necessary? Do I always have to go in to 2e recovery and press reinstall packages to get to clock work recovery?

reinstall packages, the phone will restart into stock recovery i think then reinstall again and it will go to clockwork recovery, then everytime you go to recovery it should go straight to clockwork
if it doesnt delete your update.zip off the sd and get it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
then just do what i said above and that should work
theres been something dodgy with rom manager not flashing it properly, the update.zip in the link is what s15274n took straight off his phone so theres no need to flash it with rom manager anymore, dont think theres any need to root either, just put that on reinstall twice then your in clockwork
^ Thanks, yeah... really pay notice to option A/B in that thread. I prefer B and just flash my rom immediately (which has root access).
Hello XDA,
I am currently in the process of perm rooting a Rezound and successfully flashed AMon Ra recovery. The problem is I can only load recovery, ive tried battery pulls and restarts and Amon Ra is all i get, any suggestions?
Were you trying to flash a ROM? Whatever you were doing, sounds like your OS is toast. Try flashing a new ROM in the recovery, then it should boot into the new ROM you installed.

No, I was trying to perm root and literally just went through ADB and flashed the recovery img. still stuck in Amon Ra. any other ideas, Im thinking about putting a rom on the External SD card and flashing that way.

That's exactly what you should do. You'll be able to boot after that.

Yep. But first, if you haven't already done so, go into the developer menu of Amon Ra and install su. That gives you root. If you were trying to use OneClick root, that doesn't work if you have the OTA.
i am s off and now have a unrooted s off phone, whats the quickest way to get super user back so i can flash a recovery.
thanks
sounds like you did what i did. download the ics jb_hboot and flash it in bootloader. then download and flash twrp touch recovery threw hboot. boot into recovery and make sure you dont get any read errors. then flash the newest Amon Ra recovery. thats what i had to do. then you can flash an ics rom and get your root back.
