i am s off and now have a unrooted s off phone, whats the quickest way to get super user back so i can flash a recovery.
thanks
sounds like you did what i did. download the ics jb_hboot and flash it in bootloader. then download and flash twrp touch recovery threw hboot. boot into recovery and make sure you dont get any read errors. then flash the newest Amon Ra recovery. thats what i had to do. then you can flash an ics rom and get your root back.

I rooted my eris awhile back and my first recovery i had was ra recovery v1.6.2 i herd about clockwork so i installed it on my phone all i want to do is go back to re recovery v1.6.2 but i want to do it the write way my phone has been running so good that i dont want to screw it know.Half way down on clockwork it says flash back to alt.recovery ra v1.6.2 would that be all i had to do.
that should work for you
Yes you can use flash the alt recovery option and flash amon ra back onto your phone. You will be unable to use ROM Manager anymore since it requires clockworkMod to be on the phone. You are safe to flash amon's.
I'm a bit confused on when i'm seeing in posts that i need to flash the stock boot or recovery image. What does that mean and how do i do it??
Check this post. The RUU is the stock factory ROM that ships with the phone. If you flash that you'll be back fresh how the phone ships. Flashing the stock recovery will get rid of Amon RA / CWM if you have it on your phone now. But you can reflash those things after going back to a stock configuration.
OK so i am rooted, S-Off, and hboot 1.49.1107
i just flashed the firmware update and then immediately after flashed a new rom. i didn't know you had to flash the firmware and go into the OS after, then flash the rom. so it just gets stuck at the HTC screen now. how do i flash a rom with the new firmware already installed? so i have to go back to a GB rom and old firmware and try again?
If your s-off just grab a Rom and reflash I would think. I don't know why u fooled with firmware to begin with if ur s-off already.

just take the OTA when it comes out. all better. LOL! BUT DON'T FORGET! look at what you flash. sometimes what you flash can cause you to loose your root.

If you don't have supercid
can't go back GB RUU
Could someone please help??
tryed updating through System Update (OTA)
failed to install... said my device may have custom rom
I wasn't using a custom rom, only changed cid to use a custom rom but ended up using stock. Just forgot to change cid back.
Changed cid back to original (HTC__044) and tryed to download OTA again...
It succeeded to download and asked me to install... Accepted.
it rebooted to Recovery and failed to install.
Followed 1st post instructions (status 7)
and installed the OTA through recovery.
Instalation successful!
BUT
When I rebooted the device, it just doesn't boot.
I downloaded anryl files, but it failed to load PG86IMG.zip when I boot to bootloader. Says wrong image.
tried booting into recovery but it won't boot into recovery either.
then tried flashing recovery again and booting into recovery again. No success.
any ideas?
Thanks in advance
I flashed twrp.img during unlock/root process. I have seen some mods/roms that say I should use CWR and not twrp to flash.
is it ok to install cwr even though I am running twrp already?
I fear conflicts like when I click reboot to recovery, wouldn't my device be confused which to use?
If you flash cwm it will replace twrp

Go ahead and flash cwm youll be perfectly safe. the recovery.img's overwrite eachother so the phone will only boot to one or the other depending on what you have flashed most recently. TWRP has known errors, i've actually contacted the primary dev of twrp to resolve this but havent had time to follow up with him. Anyway CWM is much safer for now.
Don't forget that backups made with one recovery won't restore with a different recovery. So if you switch from TWRP to CWR, make a new backup
I would really like to see Amon Ra ported to the DNA. Anyone know how, or someone who could? It worked really nice on the Rezound.
I recently reflashed the most recent tmobile stock image 262141. Now I am trying to root it but the recovery doesnt seem to exist. When I use the AIO to reboot into recovery, I get three green arrows in circle pointing at the phone. I then rebooted into bootloader and chose recovery from there and ended up in the green arrows screen. Anyone know how to restore the recovery?
So you flashed an RUU and now it won't go into recovery?
Flashing an RUU brings the phone back to factory status. So you'll need to RE-unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery then re-root your device.
Oh for some reason I thought this had some sort of stock recovery that wasn't fastboot. I must have confused it with my Samsung device. Thanks for the help.
