Stock messaging on unrooted vibrant - Vibrant Themes and Apps

Has anyone had lag issues scrolling through messages on the stock text messenger? Not really sure how to improve this without switching to handcent (not very asthetically pleasing for my taste), or rooting the phone (waiting for froyo).
Thanks!

DROID X2 on rooted gb text issues. recieve same texts twice or more!!

i get every text at least twice! any ideas on what is going on? on rooted gb from p3droid. anybody else experiencing problems? thanks
I've had similar problems with my X2 on Froyo but only when communicating with my friends on AT&T (they both had iPhones).
It's not unique to the rooted GB. It is a bug that, for whatever reason carried over from Froyo.
They said the bug was patched in gingerbread. Are you sure you're not taking about getting the same text in 2 different apps? Meaning in stock texting app and a 3rd party app. If so then you need to disable notification in the stock texting app.

I have not had 1 duplicated message since i went to GB (Now on rooted GB).. So check your settings, make sure you disabled the stock text app if your using an SMS program.

i use handcent sms and already disable notifications for stock app but i still recieve the text twice in handcent!
I noticed that when I downloaded ES Task Manager, I got tons of duplicate SMS. When I deleted it, no more duplicates. Not sure if that helps, but it works for me!

Anyone having dc issues with stock HTC messaging app?

It's pretty damned annoying. When I use it it freezes first then gives me the force close error message. Sometimes it does it back to back. I know everyone uses handcent but I like the simplistic black& white look of stock htc. Does handcent have this look as a theme? I'm getting really annoyed with the stock htc.

You can customize the colors of handcent to your liking. Just go into its settings.
I use go SMS, works great and you can customize everything

Mods and addons

I have a rooted and unlocked atrix running the beta cm7 rom. Can anybody suggest some good addons or modifications to make the phone better in any way?

The thing that made me switch from CM7 to homebase was the stock text messaging app. It wasn't cutting it for me. You can install Gosms pro or handcent to make it a lot better. I for one actually like the stock blur text messaging app.
And you'll probably want to install a different keyboard as the built in keyboard isn't optimized for our qHD display. Tons of keyboards to choose in the market ( go keyboard, swiftkey, perfect keyboard, etc...).

Mms?

So I used TB to freeze my stock messaging app. I use go sms pro and it was annoying having to get double notified ever time I got a text. Yes I did disable the notifications in the stock app but I still would get them sometimes for some reason... Any way with the stock app frozen I could not get any Mms. No pictures or video.. Nothing. I could send and receive texts just fine though. I now have my stock app unfrozen and everything is working fine... Any idea why our phones have to have the stock app working to get Mms?

Not sure on your question there, but I also never use the stock messaging app, I've always used Handcent instead. I am able to successfully disable sound and vibration notifications in my stock messaging app, and just use Handcent though. I've done this on all 3 of my Evo LTEs that I've had, have 2 currently. Not sure why you aren't able to, but it's not an issue with the Evo, must be something wrong with yours if you're not able to

Odd... Maybe it's my rom? It can't be the phone it has to be software related?

3rd party apps retrieve the sms from the stock messaging app. And htx sense is a whole mother level of weird. On aosp you could swap messaging apps of other roms for the device. Not sense though.

[Q] SMS Alternatives?

Hey guys, SMS alternative for galaxy s4? I've been using hangouts, but I switched back to stock cause I love the lockscreen setting. The stock messaging lags though, so it gets annoying from time to time. Anyone got better ones than those two? I've used textra, goSMS, sliding messaging pro, and 8sms. any underrated ones i haven't heard about?
THANKS!
I've been using sliding sms. I like it quite a bit its a 4.4 kitkat based messaging app with some hangouts features

Also a lot of options for customization. I think it looks cool too
Try hello SMS. Has auto night mode and extremely light.

I personally use the once named Ninja SMS, now known as Hoverchat. Uses the floating heads/windows like Facebook messenger. Have had no issues with it.
Try Chomp!
Textra is my daily sms/mms app. It plays nicely with Apple group texts.
