Is there a way to use the USB plug from the hd2 and plug it into a USB hub which in turn you can plug in a keyboard, mouse, or other device with the correct driver. This would open up possibilities for video out, card reader transfers, and many other very useful things. It can communicate with a ps3 and a PC, why wouldn't this work?

THIS IS THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION, DONT POST NEW THREADS!.
this should be posted in general, NOT development.
...and that doesnt mean make a new thread there. just wait for a mod to move this one. and DONT POST HERE AGAIN. please.
thank you....
hi i like cookies
if you used a powered hub (one that gets power from another source besides the phone) then yes it will work with many USB devices such as mice and keyboards, if you boot the phone into UBUNTU.

USB host is a reality for our HD2s but thisa post is in the wrong place, go to the correct place and im sure answers will flow,
usb host was essential during the development of a working linux build, remember the pics Dcordes posted back in may with his hd2 sat in the numerical keypad
.
I wasn't sure where to post it so I thought here but guess not. My bad for posting in here. :/
True, forgot about Ubuntu.

A very interesting question, not thought of that one. I will be interested to see any answers! Quite a lot of USB stuff does work.

no USB dvbt drivers anywhere for Windows mobile I am afraid, perhaps it could be possible to adapt some drive from a device with internal dvbt, but no likely since it sould match the TV chipset in the USB stick and enable communication through USB, also there is the software and front end.
There are other possible solutions tough, I posted in an old thread , don't ask because I do not remember which one but i think it was related to this, so perhaps some search find it.
supposedly there are two devices in development, one is a dvbt bluetooth device and the other is a DAB device
Found it

Hi,
how about this device.
bluetooth DTV receiver for Windows Mobiles.

Does anybody know if a mini usb to tv out cable will work on g1? I don't know much about these cables and would like to know if the cable will work by just simply plugging it in. Or if additional software would be required.
Any info would be a great help as I hope to use 1 of these cables for a tv streaming app.

Was unaware that the question had been posted before, better search harder next time before starting a thread.
Will not be looking into this further as it seems clear that it doesn't work. Thanks for the posts that have answered my question

Sorry, about duplicated Thread about the G1 TV out that was already post before, but this website below fuel my curiosity and probably was misleading about the ability to broadcast video. Thought maybe HTC created a cable that enable many HTC device that don't have the TV-out to a capable function and I know it more in the hardware, but the software/drivers support too. It also seem it more supported in a Winmo OS device then Andriod OS.

To make it clear once more, there's no TVout on G1 (a.k.a HTC Dream).
The physical connection to the signals of the chipset is missing and additionally there's not software to support this part of hardware.
HTC devices with TVout feature, deliver the dedicated signals on some of the pins at the extUSB connector.
The adaptor you pointed at, is a simple cable with some passive elements inside (e.g. filter) to attach to extUSB connector and match it to the input of the TV set.
Best regards,

Hello
I bought SGS2 after a long hesitation. I was wondering about buying Motorola Atrix2 due to the Webtop and WebDock.
I wonder if it is possible to port this feature on our SGS2?

I suspect that's going to be a negative. The SGS2 lacks the necessary hardware.
The Atrix can do this because it has little metal contacts on the outside of the device, that enable the communication with external hardware. The SGS2 only has USB.

Moving to Q&A
You can output display via the MHL, or use the USB port, but can't do both at the same time. So not possible to port this exact lapdock.
You have a couple possible options though.
1- output display via MHL and use bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo
2- output display via DLNA and use USB OTG keyboard/mouse combo
To be honest, I'm not even really sure if option 2 is viable or not. I've not tried outputting my display via DLNA at all yet. So I don't know if this works.
connection to a monitor / TV is not a problem. What I want is the ability to run systems based on Linux like on Atrix.

You haven't been so clear about your question.
The Atrix can plug into a webtop, this laptop-like dock, yeah? Then the webtop is running off of software that's actually running on the phone.
This is not and will not be possible with the SGS2 without heavy modification, and I mean heavy...way beyond my skill set and I've taken a few cell phones apart to replace faulty parts.
If you just want to be able to run a Linux ROM...chances are good. Android is Linux based, but I'm guessing you want something a bit more purist, like one of the 'buntu's...I didn't find anything about this on the interwebs, but you should be able to google just as well as I can.
If that was your question, what the hell does that have to do with the webtop/webdock stated in the OP?
I just found something that gives similar possibilities - I have not tested it yet but looks promising - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390351

Your English wasn't the problem, it seems pretty good actually, but in the OP you seemed to be asking about connecting to hardware. That was a little misleading.
No worries.
Looking for HTC Titan compatible AV cable. I looked around to see if there is any possibilites for such a cable, but I don't see one. Is it still possible to use a 3rd party one and just get it to work?
I've seen the Android phones have TV out and see how they are able to mirror the screen to the TV, and I'd like the same possibilities.
Also, MS used it for their conferences, I know that they are using special phones, but wouldn't you think it would still be possible?
Thanks!
I'd also be interested, way to think outside the box man!!!

You have to get a microusb to hdmi for it though. If you try it, report on how it works.

Hey there.
Because I'm not allowed to post in the development part of this forum, I'm just gonna do here.
I am currently trying to build a robot based on the Arduino ADK revision 3. It's working for now, but I wanted to expand it by using the Android Open Accessory Protocol to access the smartphones Wifi and sensor capabilities. The problem I encountered is that the S3 doesn't communicate with my Arduino at all. The Arduino is waiting for a connection even when the smartphone is attached.
It isn't a problem with the Arduino. Other programs to parse usb descriptors are working fine.
Have you any idea what I am doing wrong? Or is it just that the S3 doesn't support accessory development?
If you need any code of my programs just ask.
Thanks

i dont think the power is a problem since the s3 starts recharging when connected. but thanks.
i will also post this on another forum thanks for your help
What i am sayimg is to mount the adrino correctly the motherboard of the s3 needs that extra power just like with usb sticks. But i think it would be worth a shot. They are pretty cheap. Well in my area i can get one for about $15.

thanks for your help. in the meantime i found the problem. i activated wifi debugging a while ago and apparently the accessory mode somehow is based on the adb. so i deactivated the accessory mode for usb too. but now its working just fine.
