Hi guys,
I have a X10 mini pro which has been unlocked by the carrier and is working fine in another network now, but I would like to remove the OS that came with it (Claro carrier in Brazil) and install a clean one (like if I had bought an unlocked phone) since I cannot see many apps in the Market (like Google Talk (!), PDAnet and the paid Easy Tether), it seems they've been locked out by the installed OS.
Is there any way to do this? I tried to look at SE's website but haven't found anything there.
Thanks in advance!
Try the debranding threath its in this subforum

I'm afraid you cannot use tethering in your X10 mini due the kernel used in the ROM.
Also many apps aren't showed due the small screen resolution and they'll still hiden even with a generic ROM. Try Apktor or the "black market" to get them, but sometimes the app couldn't be installed.
Thanks! APKtor worked just fine on my X10 pro!!! Thanks a lot!
I also tried it on my htc magic but too bad its OS is still 1.5, I cannot install many appa from there like the new google maps or angry birds

Go to the HTC magic forum , you can even upgrade to CM 6 (froyo)
Thanks, I'll take a look there... But I'm afraid to mess with it and brick it because it's my company's phone...
Anyway it seems that Rogers has started upgrading Magic to 2.2 these days, I hope this update is available here in Brazil soon!!!
If you're afraid that you'll break , then its better to wait for the official update.

Before someone starts to throw things at me let me just explain my doubt.
As many of you I have been waiting for the update to 2.1 for a long time.
I have read most of the reviews that cover what changes from 1.6 to 2.1, but I see many people trying to revert back to 1.6.
I would just like to know if in your opinion it is worth updating an U20i to 2.1.
Thanks for your input.
i updated my x10 to android 2.1 for the sake of very good apps
So there are no unbearable bugs or drawbacks in Android 2.1 from 1.6?
So far we have 4 votes for 2.1, anyone care to explain what were the major gains or major drawbacks / problems after the update?
Keep the votes coming
there are no diffrences except the browser the base system and the skin

This almost sound as a funny answer. "There are no differences, only everything changes" hehe
Rofl, I like 2.1 now after getting it to work, wouldn't want to go back tbh.

yesyes i know the stupid snapdragon
however NO MULTITOUCH in 2.1
thats an biig bug!!!!!!!
stupid SE shoud go and kill themselves
well now we know who voted against the 2.1 :=)
I should do the update tonight if I am able. Then I'll leave a comment too
My phone got slightly faster. But I updated mostly for the apps
I've just updated to 2.1 and I too note less freezes and a smoother operation. Plus I got my phone debranded and I have access to all the nice applications available on the android market.
Lets see if we can get the bootloader cracked and are able to eventually get 2.2 or even 2.3 on this wonderful device.
The only annoyance I have with 2.1 is I can't seem to get default input to stay off, something keeps reactivating it.
There is a new update for LG optimus one, v10d.

Yeah. i did get the notification. Anyone has a changelog and what this brings to the table?
Its most prolly 2.2.2 i guess. But unless it brings some drastic improvements i'll skip. The lag fix kernel is working nicely for me. I dont have any other problems so i guess i'll stick to 2.2 for now.
Yes it has updated to 2.2.2. I did update it and my phone has become very slow. Apps are taking too much time load specially d browser. As of now it won't recommend anyone to upgrade.

I have the same question, did z4root work on this new firmware? I doubt it!
No, it doesn't. So be careful installing it.
Problem updating the phone
I just bought the phone a couple of days back. I wanted to update the phone s/w, from currently v10c, to v 10d. But every time I try and after accepting all the terms and conditions, midway through the process I get a message that the phone don't support S/W update. I have installed all the necessary driver. The programs recognises my phone. It even tells me that there is S/W update available for my phone. What could be the problem? Am I missing any setting on the phone that is restricting it from updating? Help me out please.
Is 2.2.2 faster than 2.2.1? 2.2.1 was way slower than 2.2, I downgraded, then rooted
For all who dread the upgrade on their rooted phones, gingerbreak 1.2 wirks like a charm. Phone is rooted in a manner similar to z4root. Happy rooting!!!

We are waiting in uae
there's cm7 running 2.3, and you guys are hoping for 2.2? forgive me if i sound brash, but 2.2 really nowhere near the smoothness of 2.3.
2.2 better then 2.1

I updated to 2.2 as well, but I downloaded the update.zip and loaded it to my SD card in recovery mode to install. Works like a charm.
I got a bit bored of waiting on the UK 2.2 release, not sure when it's coming out.
Anyway, I went the down the 2.3 route with CM7, and very happy with it.
A question I was going to ask before, but never did, is, if you were on 2.1 and went to 2.2 via the official route, would you still be able to update to 2.3 with CM7?
I'm wondering whether Motorola would lock the phone down further to try and prevent it.
Hi, no need to worry, you can update to cm7 without any problems.
Motorola understands that we don't want to be locked out of our phones.
The carriers are the ones who make motorola doing this locked bootloader thing.
greetings
Hello people, I am unrooted and have enjoyed my ATRIX 4g even though I have been stuck with the final ginger bread ota release at&t gave us and have waited patiently for the promised ota ICS upgrade which they now posted we will not get, I am aware that there is a Leak Test ICS that is buggy, and have been mods made or provided over here by your awesome developers bringing our devices up to JB level even, but am a fan of the functioning camera and finger print biometrics personally. I am a noob as far as Android rooting but very tech savvy and with devices and software in general, every app I have wanted to use has been great on this phone regardless of what version it was made for until today... I am quite into photo editing and have a ton of photo edit apps and engage in IG a bit, we as the underdogs over at IG were always fighting to make our tweaks and edits look as good as an Iphone edit mainly because they had an app called Snapseed, I was very pleased. When I read google had purchased this app drom NIK software a month ago and today it was finally released for Android, I went to Google Play and it for the first time ever said this app is not compatible with your device, it needs 4.0 or above in other words ICS, now my main question here is if I did root flash a mod similar to ICS or the unstable leak version will Google play still just see the signature of my phone and not allow a download or if I was running a new os would it get around that issue, I did also write the developer but doubt they are too concerned about making the app backward compatible as Google also purchased Motorola and offer a mere $100.00 towards upgrading to a different moto phone and I love this ine and do not have the money at the noment to do so.. any advice would be greatly appteciated, as to a a suitable os and whether or not it would even allow us Atrix 4g users to download Snapseed if our phone is recognized by its name and autodetection by googlr play tegardlrss of os, I mean it's a fast phone I've had no problems, everything works, dual core, good ram, speed stirage etc.. thanks Stu
Shows up fine on EPinter's CM10. Market just checks what version of Android your device is using. I haven't installed it to check, but will be doing so shortly. I'll get back to you about how it fairs on our devices.
Edit: After about 10 mins of playing around, it's running pretty well. No noticeable lag whatsoever. Kinda regret paying for PicSay Pro since this one seems to have a simpler UI.

Thanks very much sir, I will now have to look into this EPinter's CM10 and learn the whole process and hopefully not brick my phone, I'm good with directions, does the CM10 have a working camera and fingerprint scanner, and can I save my whole phone image if it all went south? I also paid for PicSayPro and many others too, love graphic arts and photography so the cam although only 5mp is important at times.
Anyway thanks very much yet again for the info.
No problem. Yes, you should make a nandroid backup once you have a custom recovery. It is one of the recommended steps followed by an exclamation mark. =P The only thing lacking on EPinter's CM10 is video camera (related to missing HWA due to improper kernel source) Regular camera works fine for still shots. I use camera fx & camera 360, both work without any issues. And No, the fingerprint scanner doesn't work since it's not a part of CM source.
There is an unofficial, "official" ICS (ICSROM & ATRICS) that has proper HWA with video camera and fingerprint scanner but the battery life is terrible and the phone gets really hot. I personally had random restarts every few minutes.EPinter's CM10 does well as a daily driver, but if you're going to go through the trouble, might as well try all the roms available! =D

Thanks very much for this info, I will research these downloads, I watched a youtube vid of cm10 and looked good, seems the Atrix is a bit more of a pain to work with than other Androids but will look into the whole process of unlocking and fastboots and the nanandroid back up etc.
Greatly appreciate the help.

Yes, the Atrix is a pain compared others, but once rooted with a custom recovery (IMHO RomRacer's custom CWM 5.0.2.7 is the best, never had issues) it's just like any other device. Heck, I remember flashing 3-4 ROMs a day, it was insane! =P
I would recommend downloading Titanium Backup from the market as well. It will help you quickly backup your most used apps w/ data/settings and reinstall them after installing a new ROM. Good luck and have fun.
P.S. Thanks for Snapseed!

Hi, I just rooted and unlocked a samsung vibrant, because I'm not in the us I don't use t.mobile. turns out it has android 2.1, and it's kinda bad. it doesn't even have google play, it's still android market, really outdated stuff. so I wanted a better OS... I thought of upgrading it via kies, but I'm not sure if it will lock my phone to t-mobile again. will it?
also, I wanted Rom suggestions. a rom that's not using an ancient android version, that is really stable, and has everything working good and smooth. and of course, that will keep my phone unlocked.
any ideas?
thanks in advance!
DO NOT use kies to update your phone ever! It will most likely ruin your phone by hard bricking it. As for which rom to use, its really up to you. If you just want play store and everything working on your phone then you should install one of fishmans 2.2 roms. If you want the newest OS Jellybean(4.2.2) then you can try flashing it but beware that 911 is hit or miss and gps was awful in my experience. You may have to unlock your phone again after flashing but its pretty simple as you know. Download galaxy s unlock from play store and unlock it again.

First make sure its a vibrant. Second I have three ROMs that are all the newest if you want to try them. They are all 4.2.2 and running great what you want on your phone is just a matter of trying different ROMs and finding what you like
