When I try to charge (in a car) the phone and play music at the same time - it fails. The phone says that sd card is busy even though connection type is set to "charge only". But everything is ok when charging with normal charger at home.. Does anybody know if this can be fixed?

so i got a pioneer 5200 head unit today. it has a usb slot in the front, you can connect things to it and its suposta read them .. such as a ipod/iphone or any other phone with a sd card I WAS TOLD.
but i cant see to get it to work with my vibrant :-/ i know i had to put it in to debug mode to get it to work with my mac.. so i was not sure if i was missing something that i should of done.
any help? thanks.
Mount after plugging in?

you would need to mount the drives on the phoen as samuel said... but there could be another issue... When you mount two drives will showup (internal and SD), can the head unit process two drives?
Not ALL radios have the ability to read every phone. I have a new JVC KW-NX7000 Navi and it would not read crap from my Cliq, but would from my G1. Haven't tried it yet with the Vibrant. Try taking it out of debugging and see if that works.
Another thing to consider is that the head units often have size limitations for the partitions they can read.
It also might be getting confused with the internal storage and the sd card since I doubt it can read more than one drive at a time.
Same problem with the stock radio on my 09 civic si. I believe it to be because of the way the phone provides access to the storage cards (USB hub)

good call, i didnt think of the two drive thing.
checking there site it says
"Not every USB device is compatible with a Pioneer headunit containing an USB port. See more details at the following webpage: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/USBCompatibility. Pioneer headunits containing a USB port are compatible with USB MSC (Mass Storage Class) devices only, and are not compatible with DRM (Digital Rights Management) contents and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) connection devices. For size and other limitations, please see Owner’s Manual. Unauthorized copying of music or other files is strictly prohibited. Optional USB extension cable is available for use with front USB ports."
how ever when going to the site they say its basically a blank page ha. ill try to take it out of debugging mode.. and if that does not work ill pop out the sd card.
i tried, taking out one of the sd cards, turning off debugging mode, changing it so i have to select if i want mass storage, or media mode.
and still i get nothing sad but oh well.. still got the aux port ha
I wish I had an aux port, fm transmitters suck ballz! I have to remove my antenna to not get static and even then, sometimes I do.

These things work great! http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-FM-MO..._3?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1284670423&sr=8-3
And the magic question is... CAN WE PUT OUR DEVICE IN USB MSC MODE? (Mass Storage Class)
I think it's one thing we really need. Almost every device is compatible with it, not with MTP!
You have to enable mass storage device and then mount it once you've plugged it into your receiver. Theres an app called Auto-mount that will do out for you automatically. It will only transfer music stored on your sd you will have to use the headphone jack for Pandora and Slacker.

I have the same problem with my Vibrant. I have an Alpine IXA-W404. When I plug in my phone via usb, it shows "searching" then "not supported" but on my head units screen it starts to show some random music files on my phone, but won't play them. I tried plugging in using two different wires, and tried with debugging on and off.
Any help? I even saw a video where the guy was doing it online with a similar setup, using a Droid and some other similar Alpine deck.
when i select "media player" from the usb settings on the phone, after about 20 seconds, the head unit starts to play a few songs but its very choppy. Any help is appreciated!

Hi every one.
Just came up with a problem.
Few minutes ago I tried using my phone's memory card as a usb in my car to play some music but too bad till the time it switches into mass memory mode the music player says not applicable usb.
What to do?
Can't we decrease the unplugging time so as to use mass storage mode quickly?

I am so confused as to all of this and I am new to android and this is what happened with me
The story annoyed so much it took me 3 hard reset until I figured out the source of my problem
My story began when i noticed how poorly my sg2sounds on my car stereo using a 3.5mm cable so I decided to plug into the car stereo via usb as that will enhance the playing music on my stereo via usb cable.
Anyhow I bought the titantium pro from the market and ran the batch that moves all user app to sd and once I do that I noticed that my car stereo does not recgonize the gnote as a storage device and also I noticed the phone truns off once I unplug the usb cable.
So when i used I thought about moving all apps back to internal memory via titanium and my problem was solved.
Can someone shed some light on why this is happening and how to solve it, as I would like to be able to move my apps to sd card via titanium without affecting the phone's connection via usb
Check out "Multi Mount SD-Card Lite" https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rafoid.multimountsdcard.widget.free
Maybe this would help as your phone needs to unmount the sdcard from phone when connected to PC our car stereo. Therefore any apps on sdcard will stop functioning.
You need root for the above app to work.

Although Titaniun can move apps to external-SD not all apps are designed to be used on an external-SD card and therefore can either be not recognized or cause problems.Sometimes they say if its movable or not in the details of the app in the market.
I have a new 2012 BMW 335i with the advanced bluetooth usb option and premium sound package. I do not have NAV.
My trouble is finding the music stored on the microSD card in the phone when plugged into the USB input for the BMW. I can have the phone "sync" to the car by putting it into PCSync mode but when I browse the file directory with the car I cannot find the music on the microSD card.
My friends iPhone 4S with the white apple cable works great. Music, album art, the whole enchilada .
Anybody have any ideas?
TIA

What happens when you connect the phone? Does the phone prompt you to enable the hard drive mode? If not I would try just pairing the phone via Bluetooth and see how it goes there. I don't have a BMW but I have a Genesis and everything works well with the Bluetooth pairing.
Try connecting the phone with USB debugging on (you can find it in the development options of the phone.)
Let us know more details of what is the reaction of the phone once you plug it in the car.
Also, is your music on the internal phone memory (/sdcard/ if fully stock and unmodified) or in your physical microsd card? That may have lot to do as well.

It pairs and plays via the bluetooth no problems.
The music is on the mircoSD card and not the internalHD.
I plug the phone in and it defaults to charge only. I pull down the top notification bar and change the setting to the External Hard drive... the car doesn't redognize that the phone is plugged into the USB port. I then change the setting to PCSync and then the car USB icon lights up and I can browse into the phone's directory. But the directory is not the one on the microSD it is the internal phoneHD
All the music file are located here...
/mnt/sdcard/ext_sd/music
according to ASTRO FM
my phone and card are all stock
try it as media sync
connected as a EXT HD and USB debugging selected I can find the music files on the microSD and play them just no album art. getting closer
Get a vishnu piggyback system and chip your car, do a bit of tuning and you will be having so much fun whipping around town in a 400hp beast that you would have forgotten about this little problem all together,

I'm all over them. The car is still a little too new and everyone has an iphone. XDA has been the gospel when it comes to phones.

Hello everyone,
I'm currently using a HTC One M7 with a meenova sd card reader, in which I store all my media files, including my audiobooks. What I sometimes like to do is listen to them before falling asleep. Problem is, the meenova being mounted causes a wakelock which drains my battery overnight, even if MortPlayer is set to shut down after a couple of hours. So, if I fall asleep before stopping the audio and unmounting the meenova (which happens very often), I'm greeted by a low battery warning first thing in the morning.
Is there an application out there which can automatically unmount the meenova after a set amount of time?
