Howdy! I'm using mdeejay's 23oct 1.9 froyo 2.2 build at this moment.
Whenever I try to do anything related to calls, people, mail or whatever, I always get the same error:
"Sorry!
The application Mail (processcom.htc.android.mail) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I've tried several android builds and always get this same problem. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? A sidenote is that I tried to use HTC Sync to import my data, which it did just fine. For example, when I press "people", I do get to see all my contacts, but then the error pops up and it closes again.

Have tried doing a fresh install?
Meaning, deleting your data.img and letting it create a new one on boot.
Use Titanium backup so you won't have to reinstall your apps one by one (well the paid version is much faster, but the free one is pretty good too).

Look to see how to fix this. Very new to this forum, and would love to learn more about this device...I can't open a lot of different apps because of this too. Keyboard function won't work....
I would like to add, that I can not access the settings apk now either. So I can't toggle bluetooth, unload, reload apk.....
Please help, I am now limited what I can do with this....

Thanks so much, I figured out if you have Titanium Back up(I do.) you can wipe data from the Contacts 2.2.1 and wala....Back to running smooth. I am back to being happy. You were very helpful....Thanks!
I am having the same issue!
I have put TNT lite on about 6 different g tablets now (I am a retail store manager), and yesterday when i got a new one opened for a customer I noticed the error on the original TNT build. I figured it was another beautifully glitchy software piece form Viewsonic, but after installing CWM and TNT lite i am still getting the same problem.

did you follow the link jhalsey gave? that worked for me, i haven't had a fc in since (a couple/few days)
I had this problem a LONG time ago when I went from TnT lite 2.0.2 to 2.2.1, but didn't know about this fix at the time and so just re-flashed and wiped everything, essentially starting afresh...
~mine solved~
my issue wasn't in contacts, but rather it was a issue with my calendar. I cleared it through Titanium Backup and it worked. I just played a guessing game of processes and finally tada! it worked!.

Cleared by te delete but now won't sync
I cleared by rooting and deleting the contacts DB directory, but now I can't get Exchange contacts to sync at all. Ideas?
FIX : android.process.acore STUCK IN FAIL LOOP
Found on Woot; it worked for me....
Everything was running great for about 24 hours. Now i keep getting "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Please help!
OK for those of you that have this problem, I was able to fix it by going to settings > applications > manage applications > all > contacts storage > clear data. Now no more annoying popups. I hope this doesn't become a reoccuring issue.

Just had this problem come up for me today, and it was friggin' annoying!! That easy little "clear data" fixed it. Go figure! haha
In contacts you will sometimes get blank contact information. The contact will say unknown and contain no data. If you delete those you are good. It has become a regular check with every new sync I do on gtab, either after a flash or updating contacts from my phone. If you catch it right away you wont have to wipe all your contacts or get the error message again.

I used titanium backup and wiped the three contacts files, then presto back to normal
guys..need help. am on rooted, darkside rom 2.5. my contacts app craches/ force closes (process com.motorola.contacts has stopped unexpectedly). this occur when i open my facebook contacts. and now cant even open the contacts display settings. tried suggestions like rsd flashing, cleared google plus data ( cant remove gplus, since it comes with rom). i dont know what to do. sorry for posting this. searched similar threads. but i couldnt find a relevant cure. thanks in advance.

I too suffered this problem of contacts force closing so tried this suggestion
used TB, selected Google+ 2.0.0 checked Force Remove App(by recovery exploit), phone rebooted left with white triangle yellow exclamation mark in middle and android image ! Removed battery and rebooted phone Google+ 2.0.0 still there and contacts still crashing... Any ideas would be appreciated, I REALLY wanna try to keep this ROM !

Im a bit thick.... removing was an issue but freezing it worked ! Will give you thanks..
Ok, i flashed to ics real lite v1.1 and am using rage kernel. Its a clean install and didnt use any backups. I only restored my contacts via memory card backup and messeges via sms backup app. This is on the mini pro.
My problem is sometimes when i get a call, i get a black screen. I press the power button to turn my screen on then i unlock my screen then answer the call. When i do that i get an error bout "com.android.phone" not responding. Whenni click ok, my prone drops the call and i cant even see the caller via call log, its so frustrating. Ive read around and ppl suggested i delete a few messages from "reject call with message", but i cant find a delete command in there. Secondly, there was this suggestion about clearing the contacts cache and stuff via app manager. This only deleted my whole contact list and was never able to get it back till i did a reinstall of the rom. I dont use facebook or some other app, my setup is bone dry basic, i only use sms backup app.
I also tried using another rom, the full version of real ics v4, still nothing. Any help would be appreciated as i really like this rom.
I'm having this problem on incoming calls, just from certain contacts. Other contacts get through ok.
What happens is that the phone displays the message "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped", and I don't see who called and not a missed call. Sometimes even the error message closes by itself before I see it, so I don't know that there was a call.
To fix, I tried to wipe all data+cache+dalvik ache, didn't help. I reflashed a different rom, didn't help.
Recently I've synced my contacts to facebook with the Sync.ME app, and I suspect it might be the cause.
Any ideas on how I get my incoming calls work again?
First do a fullwipe again.
Then directly test it (not flash of another kernel or restore of any apps! )
Choose any Rom which should work for u.
Test it.
If anyway have problems, u should go back on a stock firmware and do a factory reset then.
Then test.
Uf this works now - root and flash Rom
again
Otherwise it's hardware (don't think so) or maybe account/Google related.
Much success and play give a short feedback.

Kinda tired of all the wipes/restores...
I will try to connect to LogCat via ADB and see if there's something suspicious.
Please tell me if you think of other ways to debug this.
U can try to fix permissions via CWM
And also u can try to replace the phone.apk from another one.
But because u already did a fullwipe, I think this won't help, that's why I gave u this recommendations .

This was caused by an old backup using BackMyTones, where the contacts weren't in sync with the ones existing in the google database (and phone).
Tried many things (like full wipe and one-by-one app installation like you suggested), but what I could have done to avoid a full wipe was detaching the google account to erase all contacts, then reattach it. This fixed things.

When one of my contacts call me, it still shows "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped".

Hi guys,
Not sure what to do here, I've tried everything.
No matter what, I can't get Gmail to continue push syncing instantly like it should, unless it is untouched after a fresh OS restore or new ROM flash.
The untouched factory version that came with the phone seems to be fine at first, but the minute I update to the latest Market version or restore via Titanium, or anything, it stops doing push syncing. It will only grab new mails if I go in the app and press refresh.
I've tried all the usual fixes, clear data, uninstall/reinstall, make sure the phone's sync/mobile data is on, checked the Gmail and account settings, checked inbox label settings, tried on Wifi and on LTE....NOTHING FIXES IT.
Can someone please help me? Getting frustrated, as one of the above usually always fixes this problem. Currently running stock/rooted/deodexed/debloated rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2296109
