I have received the Tmobile ota update twice and both times my phones stays on vibrant screen and nothing else. The first time i kept my phone rooted and did the download and the progress bar goes to 100% and the phone reboots and gets stuck on the Vibrant screen and i left it like that for 20 mins. I flashed the stock rom again then a week later i got the ota again. I unrooted this time did the download and the same thing happened again. Has anyone had the same issue or know if i am doing anything wrong?
Why don't you just manually update to the latest update and save yourself the trouble of ota updates

sure they would. no ota will be 100% successful. with such a popular device even a small percentage of failures is still thousands of bricks.

Right, but we're not evaluating Samsung's overall success. We're on a XDA thread where the majority of people have modded their phone out of warranty. I know 6 people personally with vibrants, i'm the only one who takes the initiative to mod my phone and my 6 friends all installed the OTA just fine, and these people don't know anything about android other than it's "super cool" and they upgraded just fine.
I had the same problem with the OTA update from tmobile on 2 sgs I have. Just flashed the JI6 update they attempted to install using odin and was good to go.

Do you already have a file named "update.zip" on your internal storage? That could be the problem. if you do rename it, and then when you get the OTA again it should work. Also I heard customer recovery can cause issues.

My phone was connecting with something today, then I had a message saying I had an update. So I downloaded it, it said I may wait up to 10 minutes, but it took less than 30 seconds and the phone rebooted. But it seems like its the exact same. I'm not sure if I even got the update. I checked in settings and its saying my firmware is up to date.
My vibrant is rooted, with stock software, with gps fix and lag fix. Any ideas? Is there a way to find out if its updated?

From your home screen, click on the settings, go to About phone Look at baseband version, if it reads T959UVJI6. then you are updated.
Hey guys,
Hoping someone can help out here, although I'm guessing I will need to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991072
My phone has been prompting for the last 36 hours or so to do the OTA update which I had been putting off due to wanting to retain root (done with SuperOneClick) and not having time to follow the instructions for that. I had wireless turned off last night, and this morning when I turned it back on it downloaded the update without asking, but still asked before attempting to install. It's been asking me every hour since and I've said 'Later' every time.
Anyway, I stepped away from my desk for half an hour at work this afternoon and came back to find my device boot-looping. I don't expect anyone at work would have touched it, I just don't know what led up to this behaviour. I get the Motorola animation, then the AT&T "Rethink Possible" animation, and then the screen goes blank and the LED blinks red about 120 times at about 3 times the speed of a normal notification and then it starts over again.
The only reason I'm concerned about doing the SBF flash is that this is a SIM-Unlocked device on Telstra network in Australia and I really don't want to loose wifi functionality. Other than that I'm quite comfortable doing so. The phone had only been rooted, I hadn't done the deodex ROM or any mods.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Seems like if it did try to install it failed somewhere not allowing for full boot... have you tried pulling the battery also try and find out if it is running 1.5.7 also try booting in recovery and factory reseting. And also don't you only lose wifi when flashing 1.5.2? I might bw wrong about that though

Sorry, I should have specified... yes, I have pulled battery - issue persists. I hadn't gone as far as a factory reset, but it's definitely less dramatic than a reflashing, so trying that now...
OK, factory reset seems to have done the trick - it was still on 1.2.6, I'll do the update to 1.5.7 with the v2 Root Process now and see how I go.

Hello all. I've been reading with much dread on the changes to my phone with the Verizon forced OTA update. I really don't care about the extra battery bar, and didn't want to have my battery life wasted by the Verizon Location bloatware. I caught my phone twice trying to install the OTA, and I defered it until tomorrow.
That's when I notice you can "reject" the update. Currently if you go into settings, status, you can then click on reject. It appears the OTA will not install.
Hope this helps,
BOBBY
PS- I have a screen shot but can't post a Photobucket link as a new member yet.
I read on here that it will be forced upon you on Feb. 5.
Don't be afraid...
Nope
I rejected the OTA a couple of times; didn't stop it from installing when I wasn't looking a few days ago.
It really sucks that you can't permanently reject an update if you don't want it.
My son has a DroidX that is bone stock. He doesn't care about mods whatever, his phone is all beat up and he could care less what the wallpaper/icons etc are. He just wants it to work.
When the GB update came out for it, he absolutely DID NOT want it but eventually it installed anyway and his phone has been really messed up ever since (it worked fine before the update)
He has so many apps installed that he really doesn't want to factory reset it ( he doesn't even know where he got half of them) but it is going to have to be reset soon.

My phones actually rejecting it normally. Ive restarted my phone a couple of times and it notifies me that its DL however it just fails to install. I don't want the update right now but i do wonder if that will come back to bite me in the as*
Ever since the update my phone seems to lag just a little bit when scrolling screens in sense. Or has it always been this way and I'm just noticing?

You can always save it for later.
The file is called OTAPkg.zip and should be in /cache/fumo. You can just download it and postpone the install then move it out to somewhere where you can always use it at a later date.
I got my Rezound last week and I'm loving it. Right now I'm running stock, however i will be rooting in the foreseeable future. However i noticed a couple of times when i had to Restart my phone that the recent OTA update would DL only to fail to install. I don't want the update as i've heard and seen it reduces battery life. Should i worry my phone is defective? a couple of more days so i can return it and get another one. Would that be wise? thoughts?
You haven't done anything to it? If you haven't just take it to the Verizon store and have them look at it. If they can't get the update on exchange it. There's no reason why it shouldn't accept the update if you haven't done anything afaik.

I've not done anything, still running full stock. That's what i was thinking, i don't want this to come back and bite me in the ass. Plus i still have the 14 days to bring it directly to verizon. thanks
I am exeriencing the same thing...happened several times; firmware downloads and nothing happens. I reboot and nothin. The phone is stock. The last time after rebooting, it showed a push air thing in the notificication, and when I clicked it nothin happened...oy.
When I check the status, it just shows a rescent date along with the description of the update...and nothing happens when I click check new.
I sorta want the update so I can get rid of the headphone jack noise...and I feel like if I go to a verizon store, not much will be accomplished...hmmmmm

I went to Verizon today and the guy was able to update my phone. I actually didn't want to but eh. I told him what he did and all he told me was "Check Update" and plug it in the to the charger *which is the way my phone had been when i tried updating* and it began to install.
Hmm still nothing happens when I click check new, tried with it charging and unplugged... Might pop into a store later and see what's up, phone keeps freezing on meh! Have any negative experiences from the update so far? I'm weary of that verizon agent thing running all the time

I had the same issue with the "check new" screen just disappearing when I was completely stock. I called verizon a couple days ago and they checked to make sure that I had tried to update with 4G, 3G, 4G w/ wireless, 3G w/ wireless. I had also tried doing a factory reset and pulling the SIM and battery out for 20 minutes. If all those dont work for you, they say you can either get a "certified like new" phone shipped to you or you can get on a 3way call with htc and verizon support to get the issue resolved. You might want to try those things and if still nothing I would call.
This seems way passed overdue. I've tried manually updating with no luck. Has anyone else been experiencing the same issue?
Same here, smartswitch and ota see nothing. Gonna probably need to use odin to get it done.
Do you guys check on setting , system UPDATE (manual mod )

Yeah I've tried manually updating. This seems ridiculous that I still haven't received the update; and I'd prefer not to root the phone...
Yes. No update for me either. I heard it's possible the date your imei was activated could impact your update. I activated mine on Feb 14th.
Same. No update. I usually do all updates for apps and system manually. Still nothing...

Temporarly on Hold.
T-Mobile stopped the OTA Oreo update right now for Note 8. This is due to problems with this update. Samsung and Google are working on a fix. Once they fixed the problems then they will resume OTA Oreo update for the Note 8.
I posted this in another thread days ago. If you have questions or you feel there is no problem, since you didn't have any problems this far, then read my post on the other thread.

Mines starting to heat up more during a charge...and using android auto. Before, the phone used to be nearly cold to the touch. Now it's very warm.

I charge my phone using the 2.0 amp wireless charger (I have a few scattered around) and I haven't noticed ANY heat change. In fact, I'd say the phone is cooler if anything. When I tried to update to Oreo by connecting to the computer (Smartswitch), I got Error 807******(don't remember) repeatedly, so I gave up and updated OTA.
I got tired of waiting and updated to Oreo via Odin. Haven't noticed any major issues.
I think T-Mobile stopped the OTA update because of battery life. I received the update on April 2nd and battery life is pretty bad for me. I only get 3Hrs 45min screen on time. Deleted a lot of apps that I don't use but didn't help much only get 4hrs screen on time. I also had to turn off Always on Display which I hate to do because I was use to looking at the screen without unlocking the phone.

No. Flashed mine via odin a few weeks ago and didn't trip the Knox counter.

just got mine update yesterday.
Just got mine, the new build number is CRD7, not really sure what's new compared to the last oreo update, but that 1.3 GB update installed surprisingly fast.
