Hi everyone, is there a way to root the 1&1 SmartPad and to use a custom ROM?

Root 1&1 Smartpad
Here is a way to root 1&1 Smartpad running on Android 2.2 (Froyo).
Many thanks to 'Kjeldor' @ tablet-user.de for the original German content.
The following apps are needed:
Superuser.apk
AnyCut.apk
z4root.apk
U may download the zip file from rapidshare (h**p://rapidshare.com/files/451128664/Root-Kit.zip) or attached below.
1. Copy the above mentioned APKs to the memory card
2. Go to Settings > Applications and enable 'Unknown Sources'
3. Install a file manager from the 1&1 Store (I installed Dual File Manager)
4. Now go to the SD card using the file manager and install 'Superuser.apk' and then 'AnyCut.apk'.
5. Start 'Anycut' and click 'New Shortcut'. Select 'Activity' then 'Development', and create a new short cut. This new short-cut named 'Development' (default name) will give you the access to 'Enable USB Debugging' option which is otherwise not visible from 'Settings > Applications'
6. Activate the 'USB-Debugging' from the new short-cut
7. Install and run 'Z4root.apk' application. Once it's up, click 'Permanent Root'. Make sure your Smartpad has enough battery and be patient (unless you want to brick your device !) till it reboots.
More info and pictures on Z4 root is here (w*w*w*.dkszone.net/root-galaxy-s-samsung-android-2-2-froyo-samsung-galaxy-tab-root)
8. Congrats, now you have root access !!!
Once again many thanks to 'Kjeldor' @ tablet-user.de forum for the original German content.

Hi everybody I finally got a 512Mb micro SD card so I can test my kitchen... And as I supposed it works perfectly.
I uploaded on megaupload a new version here:
http: //www. megaupload.com /?d=V5YZUX7Q
Changes:
For testing I put the french FLASH.DIO found in this thread as ROM\TEMPLATE.ROM
I added also 4 test OEM packages:
Bluetooth_SAP_Profile - wich adds the capability to use remotely the SIM card from an advanced car kit for example.
HTC Network Wizard - for easily set the GPRS settings for your carrier
regedit - this is the well knowsn PHM Registry editor
windows live -
- Please take attention that I put in each ELTORIO\*\initflashfiles.txt the french path for Programs wich is "windows\menu démarrer\programmes" in an english rom you MUST edit those files and replace the path by "windows\start menu\programs"
How to cook your own ROM:
1- download the kitchen from megaupload
2- decompress the .rar
3- put your source FLASH.DIO in ROM and rename it TEMPLATE.ROM (those provided is a WM6.1 french one)
3- launch t5353-kitchen.bat
4- select [1] Extract
after a while your source template.rom is extracted in OEM/SYS/ ROM\XIP folders
5- relaunch t5353-kitchen.bat
6- select [2] Put ELTORIO packages
7- customize your ROM for example by placing new packages in OEM folder
8- relaunch t5353-kitchen.bat
9- select [3] Build ROM
10- in build OS check the package you want but don't forget to not oversize your rom (if it happens wmreloc will crash so you will need to relauch the kitchen and the [3] choice and remove some package)
11- your new ROM is ready in FLASH folder
12- format in FAT16 a 512Mb micro SD card (some say that 1Gb is working also)
13- put your new FLASH.DIO file on the micro sd
14- replace the microsd card in the phone
15- while pressing the send key (those on the left) press power until you see "Update menu"
16- with the volume keys select "Format User Space" and validate with the "Windows" key (the second from the left)
17- now the user space is formatted you can select Upgrade OS and validate
18- after a while your ROM will launch
19- normal customization will occur on the first boot..........
20- felicitations: you built and installed your first ROM for your t5353 clone
It is working for proving this is my first test
ROM: WM6.1
Language: French
Add: Network wizard, bluetooth sap profile, registry editor, windows messenger

After very long discussion with Chinese engineers I got right solution how to update ROM on Chinese T5353 clone!!! I did it successfully!! I have the file FLASH.DIO. This file contain Russian WM6.1 professional with MS pocket Office 6.1, SpbShell3.0.1 and many other software. To install the firmware you must use tf-card below 1Gb with FAT16 file system. I used tf-card 512Mb.
Instruction:
1. Turn off PDA.
2. put the FLASH.DIO to a tf-card and insert it to a phone.
3. Plug charger to PDA to avoid low power within flashing.
4. Press hang up and power buttons together for 5-10 sec.
5. Update Menu will appear on the screen.
6. Use volume button to navigate menu and Windows button as enter button.
7. Select "Format user space" and after message "format done" will appear after few seconds.
8. Select "OS update" The message "downloading OS" will appear. wait 5-10 min while flashing the OS.
After ROM will be updated, the device will reboot automatically.
That's it!

It works.
Im so happy.
It doesnt work because of one importing thing!
You need to uncheck verify ver. in IMD setup.
It saved my phone!
Now I have the old 5.1 version and Im trying to get some better.
The 6.5 version is perfect! I love it.
But its only in chinese language.
Where could I found the 6.5 English version?

I'm pretty sure the chinese use the chinese ROM as a base from HTC. The kitchen I used is in Chinese so what I did is translate all the rgu files and initflash files from chinese characters to english. Again, I have no idea if this will work and I forgot if it has Manila installed. But I know for certain its WM 6.5 build 28025 lol. Worst comes to worst you can use the hard reset key combo and flash it back to 6.1. *crosses fingers*
Dont tell me that you take all that chinese text and paste it to google translator
That could be funny!
I have a strong inclination to flash my ROM again

It would be rofl. Nah I took the HTC Diamond2 ROM and compared the files then transplanted the text. Also changed Favorites to Favourites since I don't like the American spelling
Okay here's my english T5355 C02 ROM multiupload.com/LZW8HM44XF perhaps someone should check it. I bear no responsibility if this bricks your phone I have translated all the rgu's and initflash files as renamed all the mui's from 0804 to 0409. I've also transplanted the english XIP from the working 6.1 ROM to this ROM
Sorry to ask.. but wich tools do you use to translate and edit the rom's??
Any chance of 6.5 to 5353??
Thanks
So does the T5355 C02 wm6.1 english rom also work on the t5353? and are you sure that the t5353 isn't running a Qualcom cpu?

Yep 100% it even says so on the chinese forums. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure Qualcomm are fabless i.e. they don't make their own chips. Instead, they sell their designs and license them to manufacturers. Do you think the clone companies have these licenses? Also, the T5353 and T5355 are slightly different there is a ROM for all in one so I would have to have a look at that ROM and see how they did it

So it's right to assume that it doesn't work on the T5353? Does anyone have an english rom for the T5353? I'm still stuck with a Chinese rom..... Can someone please upload the "universal" WM6.5 on somewhere else then megaupload? It says that the service isn't available in a service area
Thanks!

[Q] Android 4.0.4 Tv BOX, Help to root it!

Dear XDA developers,
recently I've bought an Android TV Box, you can read a techincal datashet of it at this link:

Principally I've one problem, It's impossible to write on an external usb disk, a permission denied message appears at all attempt.
I've tryied some different format for the device FAT,FAT32 and NTFS but no one allow me to write on the device.
So I've search some solution on internet and I've found this one:
"To enable USB host API support you should add a file named
android.hardware.usb.host.xml and containing the following lines:
<permissions>
<feature name="android.hardware.usb.host"/>
</permissions>into folder
/system/etc/permissionsin that folder find file named
handheld_core_hardware.xml or tablet_core_hardware.xml and add
<feature name="android.hardware.usb.host">
into <permissions> sectionReboot your device. Usb host api should work.
Tested on CUBE U30GT with android 4."
Unfortunatelly I haven't the access to modify the system /etc/permision folder, so I think that I must root my Android Box, but How?
Can You halp me with the USB and Root issue?
Thanks at all,

Tecmobile You 25 root

Hello,
After a long time looking ways to root the You 25, I've found the right way to do it.
The You 25 is very similar to Micromax A51, as some users suggested. It is based on broadcom cpu.
Quick characteristics: gb 2,3,7, 256Mb ram, 256Mb rom, 2Gb Sdcard, dual sims, 3g ....
On Win7: Disable antivirus
1) Download unlockroot23
2) Execute unlockroot23
3) Two items:
- execute install driver
- You 25ower off; take off batteryand back ; connect You 25 usb cable to the pc; wait driverdetection (popup tells adb installed or something similar); poweron you25; set it in debug mode and unknown source checked (in settings applications menu) ...
4) Execute unlookroot.exe
2 panes popup opens:
- Click on ROOT (in green) item on the left pane,
- Click on the detected You25 item on the right pane;
Normally rooting is executed (the root button greys on);
Once finished, the You25 reboots (I d'ont remember exactly ...)
After reboot, check for SuperSu icon is there.
Check su with terminal, should ask su access to SuperSu.
Thanks to forii, which I haven't bookmarked. Just in case: Browse with search " Micromax a51 root".
.
Tecmobile you25: Fixing vulnerabilities (trying)
Hello,
After the rooting, I try to fixmaster key vulnerabilities.
With the forii help ,many thanks to them, I come up with a solution:
- Install bluebox from Google play;
- Install Xposed framework for Gingerbread 2.3 (Xposedinstaller-2.2-2013005.apk (1.25Mb)) from androidforums.com);
- Install Master key fix (support Gingerbread) me.piebridge.masterkeyfixgb_v2-0d0824.apk from Xposed module repository repo.xposed.info
Once setup Xposed and install the module, running bluebox shows all fixed.

I would like to install on it Arch linux or some other linux core.
I set up a virtual machine with linux, installed a cross-compiler and the toolchain to build for ARMv6 processors and then I tried to build a bootloaded and a kernel for the tablet. It succesfuly built the kernel, just to test the toolchain ,but soon I realized that I could not configure u-boot for this specific processor. I could not find any pre-made configurations files for it. I don't have much knowledge about how to build a kernel or a bootloader.
Could anyone help me regarding this issue or give some instructions how to manually configure u-boot?
PS: I tried to boot on some RasberryPi softwares that I could find on the internet but it did not boot. Also I tried some linux software for the tablets Airis Kira N7000 / N8000 / N9000 that I found here: https://kirbian.wordpress.com/descargas/airis-kira-n7000-n8000-n9000/ ,and booted the kernel for a very short time(it displayed something like uzImage.bin and a loading bar), but then the screen went black with the cursor blinking on the left. After this it remains in this state, nothing loads or changes. After I reboot it, it loads the stock rom (Android 2.3.3)...
Thank you in advance!
