Not sure what recently caused this to happen, or if I should just reset stock and reload everything. Whenever I have an incoming call, I will be connect for anywhere from 1-2 seconds and it drops. Not just hangs up, but the service drops completely where the bars on the top bar show the NA symbol, the circle with a crossed line through it, and then the screen remains black other than the top bar. Then the service comes back, the clock pop-up readjusts time, and then it is fine. I can call people back with no problems, but no receiving will work. Also, randomly happening, about once a day, when you click the contacts nothing shows up, click the messages only numbers show as no names are paired to the numbers, and 75% of the apps don't open/work right. When I reboot the phone it works after, but is the only way to get rid of the fact.
Currently, I have installed Bionix 1.9 w/ Voodoo , the "gingerbread" YouTube, the JI2 GPS fix, Camera-update for the i9000 firmware, the 2,2 style Market APK, and nothing else really out of the ordinary market. Running on 2.1-update1 firmware, or the hardware locked version.
Not sure if anything is colliding or causing this, but if anyone has any suggestions before I try to just revert completely to stock and reload everything, I would greately appreciate it.
Thanks.

I've searched this site and couldn't find anything about this. If I missed it, I apologize.
So, I've had my Sony Xperia X10 since December 2010.
Recently, about 2 weeks or so ago, a new logo has appeared on my status bar. It's not on the notification bar (the left side), it's on the status bar (the right side). The logo is a dual spinning arrow. The one that appears on the notification bar is 2 spinning arrows in a circle that are kinda vertical. The new logo i'm getting is of 2 noticably fatter spinning arrows, making a slight bigger circle where the arrows are going horizontally, not vertically.
When this new logo shows up, I can not send/recieve texts, nor connect the the Market or the Broswer. I haven't tried making calls, but I have never received a call while that logo is active.
It comes up randomally from time to time, and it's completely annoying. As I usually notice it when I'm at work or out and about, and I don't know exactly when it appeared or how, so I don't know if i've missed any texts or calls. When the logo is no longer there, then all of the texts that I missed during the time it was active all appear at once, with the current time stamp. I've responded to them, only to find that they were sent hours earlier, but I didn't recieve them until after that logo went away.
In order to get rid of the logo I've first tried checking all of my settings and apps and what not but with no luck. I've gone online to look it up but found nothing. So I've been turning the phone on and off. But it doesn't always work, and rarely works the first 3 or 4 times. I have to turn it off, and then back on, and when it comes back on, within 30 secs of fully booting up, it just reappears out of no where. I then shut it off again, and back on. and then, about 3 or 4 times later, it doesn't turn on, finally. Other times, I have to take the battery out, and then put it back in, and every time i've done that, it hasn't come back on when it rebooted. it's weird like that.
I've tried looking up this logo to see what it is, but I have found nothing on this logo. I've found the thinner vertical spinning arrows in the notification bar on many websites. But I have not found one thing on the thicker horizontal spinning arrows on the status bar. Even the official list of icons doesn't show it listed either.
It really sucks that it randomally appears out of the blue from time to time. Not every day. sometimes every other day, or every couple of days. but I never know exactly when it happens. it just appears. usually when its in my pocket or sometimes when it's charging, but always when i'm not paying attention to the phone. so i don't know when it starts, how long its been active, or how it starts. But I would like it to stop, only, I don't know how to do that.
I've found lots of answer to things for phones on this site, but have never felt the need to create an account or post anything, as i've always just looked and looked and found what i needed to know. But this time, i can't find anything anywhere. Again, if i overlooked it on this site, i apologize. But I coudln't find it.
Does anybody have a clue as to what this logo means or does. Again, it's not on the left side of the top bar, it's on the right side, and its bigger than the left side logo, and is spinning horizontally, not vertically.
After looking it up online, and checking settings and apps, and everything, to no avail, I got some antivirus apps, but they've all found nothing. So i'm stumped as to what this could be.
Is there anybody out there who could help or possibly know anything about this. My phone is ok for the moment, but it did happen earlier today, and I know it'll happen again soon.
Thanks in advance.
The spinning arrows is the phone syncing with account on the phone. Check the sync settings

Lol....
You have set up an account, either google, facebook or twitter.
Your phone will sync from time to time so that you get updated.
The spinning arrows are just that and are a completely normal function of the phone.
I would only worry if you have not signed up for any accounts (Including logging onto the market, because that uses a google account)
If you are still worried go to
setting
accounts and sync
and disable it
Hope this helps
It definitely is not the syncing. The syncing icon is a little different. Also, as I've stated, I've already checked those settings, among others. I've had both the syncing on at the same time as this new icon was on, and there is clearly two different icons, one stating the syncing status, the other nothing. I've disabled the syncing before, and that logo goes away, but not this new icon, which seems to disable any and all network activity. But I know it has nothing to do with the syncing, as that works fine and is controllable.
But thanks tho. Anything else it could be.
Is your phone rooted, if so , find an app in the market that can take a photo of your phone screen. Then we can see what the symbol is.
Look up the app shootme if your phone is rooted. And post the pic. This can help us solve your problem.

nope, sorry, its not rooted. I've never tried to root it. Tho I did update it awhile back. Long before this new thing started. It's always worked great before this. Like I said, it's only recently started doing this, like in the past 2 weeks or so. I have not added any new apps or games or anything in over a month either.
I doubt this helps, but heres some info on my phone.

Do you have auto software update checked. I can only think of that if its not the sync. icon. Use android SDK to take a screen shot if its not rooted.
Hi,
I have an Atrix and have installed the Alien4-ROM (Android 2.3.4 Kernel Version 2.6.32.9).
In addition I insalled a lot of apps.
In the nearest past I got a problem which I don't get rid of.
I even did a wipe of all the user data and installed all apps etc. again (which took me half a day).
Problem:
Sometimes (not reproducable) I am not able to ring someone or if I get a ring the phone freezes.
Starting with e.g. GO Dialer I am going to make a call, press the Call-Button and then nothing, the Screen is freezing (during the initiation of the call).
Vice versa, I get a ring do a Lookscreen-"slide" to answer the call or accept the call and then nothing, phone is restarting or is freezing.
BUT I was just trying to reproduce this behaviour again to describe, but all went fine. So I am never sure if it works or not.
So my question is how I can find out what's going wrong. I assume it's an application, but how I can monitor which application is causing this behaviour.
Is there a debugging which runs all the time (without having the USB-cable plugged in)?
Any ideas/suggestions which is the best way to do a root cause analysis?

My stock Verizon GS3 waits a while before it makes a call.
I can click on a favorite, dial a number directly, or select someone from my contact list. When I hit dial, the phone does nothing for up to two minutes. It remains completely usable (I can surf the web on 4G, open and close apps, whatever). Just no phoning. Then, after a delay of anywhere from seconds to two minutes, it will suddenly dial the number. From then on, it works the way it should. The next time I try to dial, assuming I have waited a bit, it all happens again. If I try using the phone right away after it has sort of "woken up" to the fact that it should dial numbers, then I can continue to dial new numbers without a delay. Only after it sits a bit does it get stuck again. If I try to hit the "dial" button a number of times (aka, retry dialing because the phone isn't doing what it should) it queues these requests up and once it gets unstuck, it will dial all the numbers one after the other.
This issue also affects two other widgets (and nothing else that I can ascertain). These are the Assistive Light widget and the Negative Colors widget. They behave the exact same as the dialer. I can hit them as many times as I want, and it will simply seem to ignore my button presses. But, after a delay of up to two minutes, suddenly every button press I hit will be queued up and executed all at once (causing the screen to flash negative and positive, and the flash to go on and off a bunch of times).
I am running go launcher and the stock android 4.0.4 on Verizon.
Some specific questions:
1) What should I look for in the logs to indicate that the phone is placing a call (or handling the Assistive Light request)? I have tried to isolate the portion of the logs around when this happens but they are so dense I have no idea if I am even looking in the right area.
2) I occasionally see "VoIPInterfaceManager" referenced in the logs, but as far as I know I am not using VoIP (I had skype installed at one point but then deleted it when this problem started thinking that maybe it was interfering, but to no avail). Is this in any way relevant?
3) I have an extra SD card installed (yanked from my old DroidX). Could that be the issue? I just pulled it out again, but the phone does not always misbehave, just sometimes (say, 75% of the time) and it just happens to be playing nice right now even before I pulled the card so I don't know if it helped or not.
4) Is there anything I can do to start diagnosing this issue (i.e. apps to try to diagnose what is going on, developer modes to put the phone in)? How about anything people can suggest to even start narrowing down what the culprit may be (hardware? downloaded app? os?)
Thanks, and sorry for the long posting. This is making me nuts.

So several days have passed, and it appears to still be working. I suspect the sd card was the culprit. No idea why. But I am a happy camper again.
+Detailed information:
After the problem occured, I flashed back the stock rom with odin, then installed cyanogenmod 10.1.2
I can use my phone to do anything, apart from making calls
++Doing calls
When doing a call, the screen will be black, apart from the status bar. I cannot drop the call, unless I press the home button and hope to get the error message as written above. Sometimes, it gives me the option to drop a call in the pulldown menu. Furthermore, the screen does not switch off, when putting the phone to the ear, as it used to do.
While the call is in progress, I can hear everything clearly and on the other end of the line they can also hear me well.
++receiving calls
When my phone is ringing and I use the slider to pick the call, it will tell me "incomming call", but it will not establish connection. On the other end of the line, the seconds are already counting, but I don´t hear anything. Sometimes the phone freezes totally to the extent that I remove the battery and reboot.
++Environment
When the problem occurred, I didn´t change any settings or software.
Before the problem occured, I put the phone togehter with a container of ghanean millet-beer in a plastic bag, unfortunately the phone got wet at this occasion. As I said, this is the only problem that occurred, everything else is still working like a charm!
Because I was suspecting Software Problems, I first restored a nandroid backup and later installed the latest stable from scratch.
Now I also changed the provider and Sim, so the problem is certainly not from the network.
copy from galaktos @cyan ogenmod. com
it is because my problem is same with him

I have (obviously) an HTC One AT&T Model, running CyanogenMod 11 M2? Whatever the current milestone is. I'm pretty sure it's 2. Anyways
EDIT: The CM version is 11-20140104-SNAPSHOT-M2-m7att
I'm not sure if this is a ROM error or not, but I've got a really strange bug. CM 11 was running mostly fine, aside from the occasional reboot, which was a deal breaker fr me, as I really enjoyed it otherwise.
However, yesterday, right before class, I was on a phone call, and when I hung up, I locked my screen as usual. Well I went to unlock it a few minutes later, and the screen was black, but the backlight was on, and the control keys on the bottom were on. I could not get the phone to respond to anything, so I hard shut it down(held the power button for about 10 seconds). When I booted it back up, it had made 2 changes I noticed immediately.
1.) My background was reset from the one I had to a random CM wallpaper, and not even the one that comes with CM11.
2.) (and the more annoying one) I now have a constant notification from my default messaging app that tells me i have XX amount of new notifications, with the number growing every time I get a new message.
Now, I use EvolveSMS as my default, having just recently switched from GoSMSPro to Hangouts with CM11, and now this one. I have never used the default messaging app, as it just plain lacks some features I want. I've gone through the default app, however, and "read" every text, and the number in the notification did not decrease. When I clear my notification, it returns within 3 seconds. I think 3 seconds is longest I've gone without it.
Yesterday, I went through and, regretably, deleted ALL of my texts. At that time, I had 35 "new"messages. That got rid of the notification. So I went back to using my EvolveSMS, and now today, I got the notification again, and have 37 "new" messages as of now.
Any ideas what the heck could cause this? Obviously that random freeze had something to do with it, I just can't find anything out.

Change your messaging app from hangouts to messaging, the notification will go away, and stays away after you switch back to hangouts. Done and done.
