hello fellow hackers. Today i hacked my HD2 to install Android using a goldcard. Everything went well. No i have the problem that neither my Milstone, nor my HD2 or legend recognize the card. I have formated it a couple of times but no chance. I can use it on windows, and read and write but the cell phones doesnt recognize it. Is my SD card now corrupt? How can i remove the changes that were made?

Dude, why do you want to format it?
If I were you, I would rather buy a new one and keep the old one as an emergency kit
Still, you can try format it using a Partition Tools software.
Good luck
you shouldnt have needed to format it. it should work as a normal sd card when its gold, no problem. how else do you think you managed to copy the leoimg.nbh file onto it?
A card should work as a FAT disk, and still remain gold, until it is formatted (or you accidentally allow that annoying windows 'your disk may have errors' or whatever the hell it says popup to 'fix' it.)
Since you have gone past that stage by now, id say fix the mbr, fresh partition. Give some partitioning software a try, or you can use THIS (post 3) method to clean the mbr, see if it helps.

making the card took me maybe ten minutes. i can recreate it. anyways i was able to delete all the partitions with gparted and reformat the sd card with the phone it self. Thanks for the replies anyways.
Well last night I had android build on my card and it wouldnt install new programs and games from the android market place so i decided to re format my sd card through my card reader through my computer.
Big Mistake!~ Everything is wiped off but now its taking longer to load programs onto the card and windows keeps giving me an error when trying to load android .Cab onto my card :-( i really dont want to buy a new one lol

The .cab is dead. Have you tried the zip version? See my thread here.
But the .Cab worked before and it doesnt now?
Is there another re formatting program that i can use
to make it back to normal?? or is my SD card just ****ed up?

Reef updated the cab, and it's broken. cab takes for-freakin-ever as well, plus it doesn't really let you see how the system is arranged.
As for your SD card, you can try formatting it using the HP tool. Not sure if your card is messed up permanently or not... Can't say I've ever seen a card completely fail before, but I always buy name-brand SD cards...
I used the Hp Tool i put your android bundle on my card everything was great and then i when i was in android it would not confirm that i had a sd card in there... idk man i ****ed this **** up lol

First off, Could you please ease up on dropping the curse words? That would be appreciated greatly.
Now, when you formatted your SD card did you format it FAT 32? Also did you use quick format?
The recommended setup is: FAT 32 & Full Format (NOT QUICK).
Thanks

Yea, curse words are not appreciated... Lots of kids in the forums, let's be respectful.
At any rate, what do you mean "when i was in android it would not confirm that i had a sd card in there" <--- I'm assuming you mean some app said there was no SD card inserted? Try dcmedic's suggestions.
Sorry for the bad habit
I got it to work. that Hp tool actually did help me thank you!
I had to reformat it 3 times but it works like a charm now
I had android installed on the card and android was not reading that i had a card inserted but now its does so everything is good
thanks for your help!
one day my phone decided to stop playing nice, and without reason, started boot screen looping.
flashed it with a 354 recovery.img, and then a 354 update.pkg and then installed streakdroid 1.9.1 over that, everything went swimmingly.
then weeks of stability later, I did a reset (not the first) and weird **** came up (from the bottom of the screen, the one that normally can't be rotated to... saying "send this device back for repair, performing format do not remove battery" or something like that.
nothing was happening, so I tried to turn it off, nothing, so I pulled the battery, reinserted it and again, ran fine.
then, a day or so later, I reset the phone, and now it just loops the dell logo.
I tried flashing a 351 recovery.img, and running a 351 update.pkg and still just the loop.
I tried a nandroid backup and it says it can't mount /data/ because e: does not exist
I seem to be able to flasheverything and anything (except the nandroid data) and I have no idea what to try now...
so if there's nothing more I can do, I will need to know what the current australian ROM version is so I can flash it and maybe get it repaired.
does anybody have any suggestions?

This sounds like the error I have seen people report with ClockWorkMod. Is that what you are using for a recovery? Have you tried StreakMod recovery?
yeah, I've only used streakmod
everything I've used has been made especially for the streak, afaik...
if all else fails simply swap out the internal sd card and put in a new one. flash it with qdl tool.
Had that same errors and phone was replaced because of internal memory problem.
It´s strongly recommended to flash the stock rom/recovery/baseband first - even if its going to loop on the bootscreen - before you let Dell replace your device! You know, flashing other roms than the official ones void your warranty!
sounds like a corrupt internal sd card, if u got warranty, use it, if not then ull need to disassemble to format it

Yes, this was what happened to me as well.
You can confirm this by doing the internal sd card test. This is accessed through fastboot, but I can't remember the number combination to get there. It's around here somewhere, just do a search.
From a FAQ that was on StreadDroid.com:
1. Turn off your Streak
2. Hold down the camera button all the way, as you turn on your Streak
3. At the white screen, dial in the code *#301# – This will open the engineering mode that allows you to run individual tests.
4. Dial in 10 then press Enter to run the ‘SD & SIM’ test
5. The “Internal SD” test should pass, and it should show “permanent write-nonprotect”.
internal SD card failed
internal SD:
SD card error!
CMD/Data test : PASS
Permanent write-protection
I'm assuming the best and thinking that means that the SD card had a boo boo and it had nothing to do with my interference...
so can peeps help me one more time and tell me which recovery/ROM/baseband is the current australian builds? the warranty guys are anal about that sort of stuff...
and a stupid question while I'm on the topic, is the BB amss.mbn file for a build in the update.pkg for that same build? if it's different, I'm going to need a link for the amss.mbn file because I don't know what corner of the internet they're hiding them atm...

this is the latest official australian build its 318BB... u probably just got a dud unit, thats my guess..
i remember wen i got my N95 yrs ago i got a dud sd card.. i told em its just the sd card but theyre stupid and nokia replaced the hole unit just in case
like i said, if u have warranty, just use it
PS. when u get ur new unit, be sure to use the 354 rom, its uses the the australian standard frequencies..
either 11 or 00 regions work best.. check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:Dell_Streak.png#ROMs
There's currently no such thing as an 'australian build'
Streaks sold there are either the US or EU model (i cant recall which) and use the 00/retail roms. Of those 351 is the latest 00 rom.
If your innerSD is hosed how are you going to install a rom? the rom lives in the innerSD
I had a big long writeup, but the forum timed me out...
I've looked up some YT video's about how to get to the internal card
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w4AbtIGp8A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0f9N99gAP3w
the first video shows me where the internal SD card is located, the second shows me a cleaner way to get to it...
I need a smaller star screwdriver than what I have to get to it, even the tech guys at my work don't have a screwdriver THAT small...
but I have a few questions, I've looked some, but I don't think this kind of info is easy to find...
so, questions:
what are the size and speed specs of the internal SD card slot? logic dictates that it'll be the same as the external card slot, (32Gb class ?)
I've read that there are three slots inside, can I use all three?
if so, are they only accessed by apps like ASTRO and the like, or can I get to them via the data cable?
has anybody else done this kind of thing? is there anything I need to know?
is there anything else I can mod/tweak while I'm in there?
and, finally, how sweet would it be to get a triple calss 10 RAID 0 going on in there? I'm sure it's all but impossible, but unless I ask, how would I get to know right?

If your phone is still in warranty you should use it, there was a known problem with some Streaks being shipped with a bad internal SD Card.
If it is out of warranty and you choose to replace the inner card I can state from experience that you can easily get access to the card by cutting the back cover with a razor/exacto knife. There is a pic in the thread at MoDaCo that illustrates this. Of course the phone I altered was already dead and I was not able to resurrect it, so I have no way of knowing if my surgery had any ill effects.
A pic of the one I altered is attached.
Edit: the red text is right on the actual internal SD card. You move it to the left to remove it.
be sure that u kno that when u open it up u completely void all warranty, its not like flashing. YOU WONT GET AWAY WITH IT.
Happy Streaking

solved!
I got two new class 10 SDHC cards, a 4G (and a 16G, for the external )
I pried it open with my fingernails, and using a T5 torx screwdriver I opened the case, swapped out the internal SD straight out of the box and closed it up.
I had streakmod 3.2.8, streakdroid 1.9.1, performed a streakmod factory reset and it just started, no formatting, no warnings, no need for a nandroid, it even used my launcherpro settings (which is strange, because someone on this thread mentioned that the internal SD card is where the ROM information goes...)
after using tools like SD booster and SD tools I found optimal speeds, and it's working good.
I expected a better quadrant score considering I went from a no name generic card to a 20x class 10, but still, it works, and for $8 it was worth it.
Hi there,
Can anyone please post a dl link to a partition image for the internal 2 Gb sd card of their Streak?
thanks in advance
I have created an image of my inner SD Card right after a factory reset.
Download Here
I created this using Clonezilla, you should be able to use Clonezilla to restore it. It is an image of the entire sd card. You need to unzip the downloaded file to use it.
Note: I am running DSC_Rom, which is Gingerbread based. I don't think it makes a difference.
ok I'll try it and post results... thank you Sir! hoping that it would work
I was thinking of getting a class 10 8gb and putting favorite music onto it under a media directory, going as it is space you can't get at as its mainly just for apps. Clonezilla is a good idea though i was gonna use carbon copy but carbon will not allow you to clone a drive bigger than the one you want to clone, seems the same with clonezilla though dam
If you are just replacing the card, you shouldn't need an image. I replaced mine and the phone took care of setting the new sd card up automatically.
Was thinking that to be honest but i wanted a way of been able to add stuff to it without the need to take the phone apart again but looks like a new card installed then just ftp into the phone to transfer but transfer speeds suck lol, will play with the image though and see what i can sort out may be able to get a similar file structure and just add a directory

I tried putting in a replacement SD Card and it just did not show up. I tried a card with no partitions at all and one that was formatted Fat32. I did not try a factory reset after replacing the card. I have seen multiple requests for an image and now that my Streak is out of warranty I notched out the body to get access to it and figured it would not hurt to have a backup image.
a fat32 disk may not be seen the same way as ext 2,3 are linux based the first one will be a swap file then the second will be the data, I will wait till i get the card i want to install into mine, as anyone had troubles with the sides either side of the screen sticking back down, I got curious when i first had mine and took it to bits to see the micro sd card but have found one side seems to be a tad loose now

I notched the plastic over the inner sd card like in this post at MoDaCo. Seems easier than opening the whole phone up and you just have to remove the back for access.
Just had a click glance through, However I am not going to dig deep until i buy my new inner sd card then i will hit it hard, But i feel i would take a different approach to how they have tackled it as i will go down the machine code route when i do it due to the fact i am thinking i will not need to edit as much but time will tell but will post when i have installed a bigger card, also need to glue the backdoor switch down as that annoys me.

I did the same exact thing, and it worked pretty good, got rid of the plastic, remove the innersd... trying to recover it with the image given.. hope it will work
Update
I received the Kingston 8 GB class 10 micro SD Card I ordered today and with no prep put it in the Streak, did a factory reset and the Streak now shows over 6 GB free in internal storage. I have no idea why this card worked and the others did not, except that they were 16 GB, class 2 cards I had laying around.
FYI - I am running DSC rom .62b (a gingerbread rom).
Does anyone have an image of the InnerSD Card that can be used in a Windows based program, such as DriveImage XML? And if not, can someone tell me how to do it manually? I'm having issues booting into CloneZilla :/
Any help is appreciated,
Cullen
This the replacement streak 5 that Rogers gave me after my first one died. It came with ROM version 1.6 but would not auto update to 2.2. Market also gave me the "out of space" message. It doesn't seem to matter which way i try to load apps (downloading/install from other sources or from computer) i get the same message. If i try 2nd time sometimes they will say they are loaded but app will force close when loading.
I managed to install Steves Streakdroid Gingerbread 2.4.4 (which is wonderful, and yes i did donate) but didn't make any difference to my app installation/update problems.
I've done what i thought was a thorough search for others with this problem but have come up with only Market or cache issues. As i mentioned, this is a fresh install + factory reset and wipe.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
How much space does your device actually show as having available?
Sent from my Dell Streak
Internal memory is showing over 60 MB
External 14 GB
So apparently lots of room on both
Thanks for the reply, hope the info helps
I have managed to load a couple of apps after a few attempts. The apps that did install and load normally installed into the external SD card and the ones that would show installed but not load didn't show up on the external SD card.
On Gingerbread where are the apps normally loaded and can this be easily changed?
I'm suprised that nobody was able to help me with this one but I managed to fix it anyway - it was the internal SD card. I suppose it was faulty or corrupted some how, so I changed it out with a new 4GB SDHD card and all is well. I ended up removing the piece of plastic that covers the internal card rather then going the complete dissassembly route.

It takes just a few minutes to cut away the plastic covering the inner SD Card. I did this to two Streaks. More info here and here.
Most of the info on changing out the internal SD card I got from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220021
I was planning on going the disassembly route but I didn't have the special screw driver (torq?) So just removed the small section of plastic covering covering the internal sd card. It took only 20 mins or so. A normal reboot almost worked but the Streak rebooted itself a couple of times so I did the factory reset and that fixed everything. I'm using DJ Steves Streakdroid 2.4.4
