Can you get phone into download mode? Install odin and all windows drivers. Take out batt plug up usb hold vol up and down and put in battery. If that doesn't work there is a cable you can but that might force it into download mode

Can you get adb to work?

I had the same thing happen earlier, I was flashing back a stock ROM in Odin, which I have done before, and this time it was doing the cache files and the phone went black and removed from Odin, now this PC-Computer icon is up. Holding down the power-button just blanks for a second then puts back to the phone-pc screen, my phone was hardware locked so the power+volumes does nothing, and the computer won't recognize the phone in adb.

If you have tried everything twice and nothing worked .Don't mess around with customer services. You need to talk to tech services they got me a replacement

Download Mode trick.. it worked for me.
Ok guys! here you go.... If you feel like you semi-bricked your phone and cannot boot into download mode.. there is a trick that might work for some or it might not doesn't hurt to try, but damn sure worked for me... Make sure phone is connected to computer with ODIN Opened,..
1. Unplug your phone from usb
2. Take out battery (and mini sd and sim)
3. Plug usb back into phone.
4. Hold down up and down volume keys while putting battery back into the phone. IT SHOULD BOOT INTO DOWNLOAD MODE. if not sorry. Sometimes when people flash back and forth the up and down volume keys get reversed... so try volume down and power.. or volume up and power. GOOD LUCK!!!

No luck, currently going through a relentless trial-error process of different usb-battery-sim/sd-volume-power buttons. Just found out insurance which I thought was covered on my phone via Asurion through T-Mobile is only covering one of the phones on my line, yet I bought them both with warranties at the same time... Pretty bummed, Only is looking like paying the deductable fee for a new phone as if lost/stolen.. Hope something pulls through.

Just a small deviation
1. Take out the battery
2. Plug the USB into the phone
3. Plug USB into the PC
4. Hold down the Volume up/down + Power button with one hand
5. Put the battery back in with the other hand
6. Wait for the phone2pc icon to flash 2 times and on the second time when the screen goes black release only the POWER BUTTON
7. When you see the digging Android you can let go of the Volume buttons
That is the only way I could get it to work

help phone, yellow triangle and computer pic

I was putting the new update on and Odin was doing its thing. it went black now I got the stupid screen of a phone pic a yellow triangle and a computer. I know my phone is hardware locked what can I do? I rooted it with the one click root but no rom was installed.
Do you have adb running? You do know there was a fix for hardware locked vibrants, right?
If you have adb running & your phone can be seen by your pc it might be possible to get the sbl file pushed in to flash. Not sure it would work this way but it might be worth a shot. Not to sure what commands you would need either.

I did search and search on hardware locked and bricked phones. My first post was about all I see is the phone, yellow triangle and the computer icons. I pulled the battery hold the volume up and down both put the battery in plugged in the usb cord and It goes right to the symbols of the phone, yellow triangle and the computer. Odin does not see my phone sorry but I have studied for hours how to root and do several things to my vibrant by myself. This has me stumped and looking for help.

Nothing. The 3-button fix should have been applied prior to flashing anything! You need a new phone, unless somehow, magically, after searching these forums and trying the (at least) 20+ ways people claim to get into download mode work.
None have worked on mine.
im not asking if ODIN can see your phone. I was asking if ADB sees your phone...
Do you have ADB setup? if so, what happens when you type:
adb remount
If you do have adb setup and nothing happens then you are in the same boat as southplatte.
get the samsung captivate back to download mode
I have similar problem like that. When i use Odin3 one click flash the ROM. It stuck in the middle of flash. I take off the usb cable out ,try to reboot the phone. Oop .. the screen show the sign of the phone--- yellow triangle with exclamation sign in the middle---computer icon. Can do nothing with it, because the computer now can not connect with the phone.
In my case, I take the USB off the phone but still connect with the computer. Hold the volume button + power until the phone flash in black screen .This moment happen very quick ,it will go back to the unconnected sign again. When the screen turn black just release power button but still press volume button (otherwise it not working) hook the USB back in your phone right on that moment. The Phone go back to download mode. If not work try couple time ,important is timing right on the moment the flash to black screen .
Now ,you can use the odin3 flash the ROM again. It works for me ,and i try again same situation couple times. it really works.
hopefully, this will help for who got the same problem.

Same issue...
Galaxy S 4g Tmobile - tried pulling all cards and battery and 3-button trick but to no avail. Never enters downloading mode. How can I tell if I'm fully bricked?
Dharra, youre in the wrong forum altogether
OP, try a jig. If that doesnt get you into download.mode, listen very carefully: youre ****ed.
Your only remaining options will be to send it to someone with a riff box (pm connexions2005 or go to mobiletechvideos.com) or do the unbrickable mod and run the unbricking app.
If you do fix your phone, do the hw lock fix right ****ing away!!

Mine is BRICKED!!! OTA Friday got to 85% and went black. none combo of the Three Button Salute is not working at all. Odin can not see it.
As long as you can get into download mode, your phone is not totally bricked. Vibrants are very very hard to brick. Trust me, I have messed mine up more times than I can count, but managed to fix it. First off, can u tell me what windows version ur using, do u have the Samsung drivers installed, what button combination have u tried to get into download mode. I know you probably tried a ton, bit this will help me narrow down what will and will not work for you.

Have Odin open and everything setup on the PC.
Then just take out the battery and make sure your phone isn't connected to the PC yet. Then wait maybe 5 seconds and plug your phone into the USB without the battery in the phone. Then press both volume buttons only and install the battery while holding both volume buttons.

You can't give up that quick. Come on man. Took me over 30 minutes one time to get in download mode. Tried different techniques. Try restarting your pc or maybe even a different odin version. Make sure odin is on before trying to get in downloade mode. Best way for me to get in d/l mode is to press both vol. up and down at the same time and then plug usb in. Other techniques are out their also.

Thanks everyone for the help, my phone is working again!!!
Definitely the wrong section. Here's a couple tips/ideas though. The easiest way to manually get to Download mode it to:
1. Pop the battery, wait a sec, pop it back it.
2. May be easier to leave the battery cover off, we'll get back to this.
3. Make sure your computer is powered on, and the USB cord is plugged into the computer.
4. Without pressing the power button, hold down, volume up and volume down at the same time (this may be easier without the battery cover. This takes a firm grip sometimes, if this fails that's what you did wrong.
5. Still without pressing the power button, plug the other end of your USB cord into the phone. It should boot up into Download mode in a matter of seconds. If not, try again, you probably weren't holding the volume buttons properly.
Also, possible reason it stopped, did you put the .tar into PHONE instead of PDA? That will cause it to error midway like what you described. Otherwise I would definitely re-download/install your USB drivers with the one from this site, I find they work better. Also re-download the .tar .pit and even Odin for good measure. Check out the Vibrant Bible, that thread is your friend. Good luck, hope that helps!
EDIT: Guess I was too slow haha. Gratz man.
Best way is to use usb jig.

I'm pretty sure if those options didn't work your Vibrant is a hardware locked one. You may want to try the hardware jig as mentioned above. I've fixed my hardware locked vibrant countless times with that little tool

well after tons of hours and trying every way i came to the concusion that the usb port might be damaged or corroded on the phone, like ive stated before my other vibrant connects perfect to the computer,,and on this phone i can wiggle the cord by the phone and you can hear it connect / disconnect from computer, but it still it not recognized by the comp. and so i dont think the jig would work becuase u would need a good usb connection to begin with,im thinking my gf got some water / snow or somthing in the port corroding the connection, i took a magnafying glass and seams like there is some green corrosion in the port.
nevermind ...........
Also bricked my phone - Will the jig help?
After trying to install Froyo through Kies and failing, after trying to put stock ROM with Odin and again failing, i got the phone to the state that the only thing I get when powering up the phone is the picture of "phone --! -- computer". It is not trying to boot at all.
Will the jig help to get it into download mode? Are their any other ways to bring it to life or it is total brick?
Tnx

Try one more thing... Pull the battery and put it back in so your phone is off...plug in the charger so you get the charging screen...now when you see the charging icon hold in both volume buttons and the power button. You will see the icon flash off and back on then flash off and back on ...now when it flashes off for the third time...let go of the power button only..keep holding the volume keys

Samsung Vibrant Wont Turn On

Hi, I am having a serious problem
My vibrant was working and i was flashing the firmware T959UVKA7 using odin 1.3
once the update was done and it odin said passed
the phone is not turning on at all, act like there is no battery
tried to plug it to wall charger not even responding, its like dead, no power at all
i even tried to remove the battery for 5 min, add it again and plugged the jig
nothing is happenning, tried every combination of keys, even connect it to computer usb with no battery then plugged the battery, nothing, the phone is completely dead
Please let me know if there is any way i can make it to work again? or i totally bricked it?

Which firmware (kernel only or complete)? Link?
Which OS were you from before odin up the KA7?
I ran into similar problem. I was from Stock Froyo Kies, then odin over the supercurio stock+kernel KA7. It got black screen ...for a good 5-10 min. I was going to pull out battery but I heard some mumble jumble in the background telling me that it's converting (voodoo ext4) so I left it alone. If you pulled out too early during the conversion before it finish doing voodoo...I'm not sure what happened to that unless your odin KA7 does not have odin. Do you see any light, sound, or splash screen at all?
When you flash, did you have "repartition" checked or not?
Anyway, have you try the 2 button download mode? Mine was silent dead black screen too at one point from last few days with few variation difference caused by different tinkering mistakes. I just took off battery, sim, sd and kill odin. Reput them all back and fire up odin. Hold down both the + and - with 2 fingers, then hook in USB from pc to phone. It should put it to download mode and you can reodin whatever...depends what it can do.
same situation here.
i came from T959UVJFD then i flashed T959UVKA7 (.tar.md5 file from samfirmware.com) using odin3 v1.70
odin says it was finished. but it doesnt turn on anymore. i cannot even go to download mode.
PLEASE HELP!
any kind of button combo doest work
try downloading odin3v 1.85 and using this method to put in to download mode
1. pull the battery,
2. put it back in;
3. then, with the phone still off, plug your usb into the computer,
4. turn on odin3,
5. hold the center of the volume buttons,
6. plug the usb to the phone while holding the volume botton
orginally found in this my posting

I know I'm posting this on multiple threads, but Im desperate! I'm having the exact issue as OP, am hoping a suggestion from someone helps. Right now my hope is hanging on the comments from people here claiming "it is REALLY difficult to brick this phone".
I was "downgrading" from ICS Passion with GB bootloader, down to stock. The "downgrade" to 2.1 worked fine. Then I used Kies to upgrade to Froyo, and after the install it shutdown, and now the phone doesn't respond to any key. Tried a different battery as well, to eliminate a probably battery issue. No good.
Tried different combos to get to recover/download modes: Vol UP + Power, Vol Down + Power, Vol Up+Vol Down+Power, and Insert Cable+ Vol UP+Vol Down - nothing yet. Used ODIN 1.85 with suggestion from canyon789, and that didn't work either.
Any ideas? Please help.

If your willing to wait the approx. week, call up Samsung tell them that you were updating through Kies and then your phone would no longer turn on, you've tried different batteries and tried different cables and still nothing, she/he will try to help you get into recovery mode, just go along with it, she will then help you get everything you need to send it to Samsung's nearest repair center. Sent mine in last thursday, they replaced the PBA (logic board) and are sending it now. Should be here in 2 days :]

Did you try the exact no-boot steps from the Guide linked to above?
I tried everything else, only the exact sequence worked.
Battery out, phone plugged in, Odin running: press center of volume keys,
insert battery.

Yes tried the exact same steps, no luck. Ordered a jig finally and hoping that will get me out of this mess
I hope the jig works for you. So much for "unbrickable". I will be sure never to Odin anything but the JFD file. Good luck.
work perfect for me thanks

his is not going to help at all, you damage the bootloader you as happened to me, but in my case it did ODIN, Mini Kies did.
The only thing you can try and see if you have some success is to do two things:
* Easy way: pay for you to get a JTAG on the phone and reinstall the bootloader. (Actually that's what you Damage to flash it)
* Terse: Vibrant Unbrickable do MOD
(but must be done by someone who is skilled in welding and electronics, as this takes a lot of risk, as is jumping two pins that control the processor of the phone)
note that the device is already damaged, you try to repair it, if you do not succeed, At Vibrant Ebay sell broken, win one for 53.66 at auction. and attempting to repair Give you a MOD.
I hope you will help.
If Mini Kies damaged your phone, call Samsung, tell them that you upgraded with Mini Kies and now it won't turn on and they replace it for free.
