[Q] Sync WinMo to Google for contacts, calendar, etc without activesync ? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so my micro usb port is messed up, and in WM I have no contacts, because PIM Backup requires to connect to pc to install it. So is there a way to sync to google to get my contacts and stuff without using my pc? Then I can use my Android contacts and calendar in WM. All that I have seen about google syncing WM phone requires connecting to pc and I cant do that obviously. And/or could someone please attach a cab form of pim backup if possible even if there is a way to google sync from the phone?
Thanks all, with your help I can make this busted phone work for me, I already have a spare battery and external charger.
Thanks HTC for using the flimsiest crap possible for data transfer and charging I appreciate it. I guess mini usb wasnt bad enough right

Yes you can do it with active synch right into google...you have to make sure you have imap enabled in your gmail account. The instructions are in the TMOUS HD2 forum but will work on any winmo device:

[Q] Problem installing sync manager

Hi
Has anyone had a problem trying to use sync manager, as I can't even find the option use choose it, from the USB option,
I installed this one from the htc website (arrgh I cant post links yet) which I got from the one x+ support page
dl4.htc.com/download/htc-sync-manager/setup_1.1.48.0_htc.exe
On the phone there isnt an option to select htc sync like I had on other htc phones, but once installed the software on the pc detected it correctly and let me sync media, contacts etc
I had previously installed 3.3.10, but that didnt detect my phone

That being when you click the button to forward or rewind track you dial the last number you used
A bit of a pain when walking the dog...
Don't use it...

Hi there. Honestly, sync manager is kind of garbage (for me at least). It's way too slow and as we can see, doesn't always recognize your device.
Download Android File Transfer. You can put music, photos, and all kinds of other things on much more quickly.

[Q] Recovering data from broken screen S2

Hi guys,
I'm trying to help my friend recover data from his galaxy S2 with a broken screen. It turns on, receives calls etc but you can't see anything on the screen.
His contacts are not in sync with gmail, is there a way to set this up using a PC and leaving the phone on so that everything will sync?
I think the most important thing is his contacts, maybe some pics and apps if it's possible. thanks!
U could probably use ADB to pull em off i would assume, long as u know where they're stored.
Thanks! Do you have a guide for dummies on using ADB to do just that?
Search is your friend, there are tons of guides on XDA. What ROM is your friend running, do you know? I was thinking that if he's running stock maybe you can use an MHL adapter to hook up the phone to an external display.

[Q] Data transfer questions

Hello forum,
I have a samsung at&t galaxy note running blackstar. About 15 days ago the screen shattered and 3 days later one raindrop fell on the screen and ruined it. Right now the phone screen is all black and you couldn't tell if it's on or off by just pressing the power button. I bought another phone and so my question is, how could I transfer my old data from my screwed phone to the other one without having to use the old phone?
I would like to take my texts and some contacts. I downloaded a software called MobileGo for Android, but it requires me to download an app to the phone, which I have to open before the software can start operating. And then again, this is a problem because the screen simply cannot be used.
Thanks,
Michael.
Try samsung Kies. And if contacts were google contacts they would sync back to your new phone by signing into google.

I did, and my contacts synced alright, however there are some texts that I need to recover. I already tried to connect the phone to the computer and copying everything, but the phone isn't being recognized. Is there any way I could copy some of the pictures saved in the phone?
Install the phones divers and the android sdk and use adb to pull everything out
If you had usb debugging enabled on the broken phone that is... otherwise that won't work.

Connecting to Computer?

Am I missing something, or should it be pretty straight forward using a USB cable to connect to a computer? My computer will read the phone in download mode (make the sound of plugging it in) but wont read when phone is on. Looking into status of the phone, it reads AC charging rather than USB charging. Is there a setting Im missing to change it or what?
I had to install Kies for my computer to recognize my phone
Sent from my SM-N900P using xda app-developers app

You can also go to Samsung's website, to the support section and find the downloads for the Note 3. You'll find USB drivers there as well. At least I did for my Note 2
Alright, tried kies, still nothing. Doesnt show the device connected. As for drivers, went to samsungs website and went to phone, under download shows no drivers.
EDIT: Figured it out. For some reason I was under the impression you couldnt use the supplied cable because of the 3.0 part. Used it any and computer found it immediately so now I'm up and running. Thanks guys.
Any luck transferring bookmarks? I successfully transferred all music and photos, I can't find the bookmarks file on my htc evo 3d. Tried my backup pro but am not ready to plunge into the root world. Appears as if backup imported bookmarks but I don't know why they're not appearing in browser bookmarks. Yes I checked "my files" app, don't know what they're titled or how to get access through browser. Any painfully obvious technique I'm missing. I'm sure many people are anxious for a answer. Thanks in advance!
I haven't had that issue, since I just restored all with titanium backup. If you still have your old phone, can you export your bookmarks to another browser, say dolphin and then back them up?

I thought that would work, but bookmarks to sd (a Dolphin browser plug in/extension) has been removed from Google play and side loading gives a prompt stating there is no tool (program) to open it with. The only app I've gotten to work so far is my backup pro. It only transferred bookmarks to the Chrome browser, but only a fraction of them. Do I need to root in order to use titanium? Thanks for your response!

[Q] Best PC Sync Program

I'm used to using Nokia Suite for the 808, it did a great job of syncing photos from the phone to pc. Now that I have the S4Zoom I need an equivlent. I noticed that Windows 8 doesn't give a whole lot of choice in regards to what software to use. Tried Picasa, not too keen, tried 3rd party sync programs (Puresync, easy2share etc) that are supposedly able to work with ptp and mtp devices but just didn't work. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of choice...
What's everyone using to sync photos from android to pc?
Cheers,
Dunker
