Looking for a Overclocked nonvoodoo kernel that will allow a custom boot animation. JT and Dirrk seem to have plenty of kernels but none seem to say that it supports custom boot animations. Currently running JTs 1200 and custom boot is not working. If anyone can link me or give insight would appreciate. Thanks in advance.
...dupe...
my bad.
Get on IRC (freenode / #samsung-fascinate) and download the 1031 USCC kernel from jt. Good no-voodoo stuff there.
...The hex-1600-test kernel posted HERE also works with boot-animations (tested with Zinc 1.1)
I believe it is also posted on their deodexed dev forum.

so i kinda wanted to know what mods, lag fixes, kernels were available for the new "eugenes jk2 froyo" that so many of us odined onto our device....
so far all that ive gathered is that ryans oclf is perfectly fine to use...please let me know!
I don't use eugene's rom chet I saw on his thread he has a bunch of different kernels listed. For the rest you'll find most of your answers in the change and feature logs
Sent from my SXY-T959
That's the STOCK froyo, means it doesn't come with anything but the OS itself. So do whatever you want.
My first question is this. I can not for the life of me figure out what Eugene's GB ROM is based off of. I know its based off of 2.2, but is it JK6, JK2, etc.?
My second question is, I'm looking for the Nexus One bootanimation and sounds. Any assistance in figuring out if I can change my animation would be helpful. I'm tired of the spinning android one thats included in the TW ones (no offense).
Fyi, the release of nero today includes the nexus boot. You could just download it and grab the bootanimation.zip
So is Nero built off the same base as Eugene's clone??
I've read through tons of threads trying to figure this out.
I'm running rooted OTA 2.2 (froyo) since 4/21/11 and am very happy with the performance so I'm trying not to mess with roms/kernal upgrades.
Is it possible to change my boot animation and sound without replaceing the stock kernal. (if not what kernal should I use?) I've read and read about trying to change or edit the .qmg file but no luck so far.
Also, what should I use or do to hide/remove all the bloat on my applications menu?? If I change my kernal to OTB would I notice any performance diferance from stock 2.2 froyo and would that help my situation?f
Thank you in advance for any insight on this.
You have to have a kernel that supports custom boot animations, and the stock one does not. Adrynalyne has some that work very well, and they can be found in the ROM/Kernel sticky in the developer forum. Most custom kernels will say if they support this feature.
As far as removing bloatware, both uninstaller pro and titanium backup have the ability to remove bloatware that verizon shoveled on us.
Hello everyone!
I have a simple question that I would like to have answered. I'm adept at running custom ROMS on my GTAB, but I've never really messed with kernel stuff before.
There isn't exactly a 'topic' that deals with this, and pershoots website doesn't have that much detail either.
So I would like to know what kernel would be the best for me to run.
I've got VEGAn-Tab GingerEdition running and I just installed pershoots 2.6.32.39-cyanogenmod and it should be the ginger edition
Is this the right kernel or should I be running another?
Thanks
There are basically two kernels that are being actively supported on XDA, pershoot's and clemsyn's (clemsyn has several kernels out, but they're all just slight variations on the same kernel). If you want to overclock above 1.4GHz and/or adjust the voltage settings, then you should try clemsyn's. If not, then stick with pershoot's. It's what I use. It's what most of the devs on here include with their ROMs. For me, it seems to run better with less work. But try them both out for yourself and see what you like better. That's the only way you can really know if you're running the "right" kernel.
Also, pershoot just updated his kernel to 3.6.32.40, if you want the latest version.
Froyo use clemsyn. Gb use pershoot. Jmho...
Hey Thanks! This stuff gets quite confusing.
Another question here. I have installed Roms but how do we install a Kernel? Do we install prior to the Rom?
Thanks in advance
I've tested out every version.
1- froyo -->clemsy
2- ginger --> pershoot
3- flash kernel as you would with any other zip file. Do not use calk wipe all zip.
I have been trying to flash Glitch v12 after flashing the Espresso Rom (Runnymede SII). Once I flash the Glitch kernel and reboot I get past the Glitch splash screen but then get stuck at the Espresso splash screen (just says android). I have read the forums forwards and backwards about Glitch working on the Espresso Rom but I can not get it working.
I love the Glitch kernel and I am wanting to try out the Espresso rom. From what I am seeing with the rom I love it and it will be so much better with the Glitch kernel.
I saw a couple places mention something about CWM 5.0+ and Glitch are not working properly. ?????
Any help would be great.
