I`ve just Updated to Android 2.1, and i can comfirm that the SuperOneClick Tools works to get Root
but its still says i Titanium Backup that i dont have root... but i can remove apps
Do i have real Root?
did you installed busybox? On titanium press "problems" button for instructions.
And be sure you enable usb-debugging (correct me if Im wrong) but that made the difference for me when Titanium said it didn;t have root acces.
yep. just realized it. it needs busybox madly
yep, I had no problems with SuperOneClick, did the old busybox update in Titanium (I seem to remember that from when I first got the phone and rooted it) I un-installed some of the bloat ware this morning (mainly Roadsync and the games)
everything still seems to be working happy as larry on 2.1 woot!!

Same here.
Try this:
If you wait longer and it still doesn't work, try untick/retick USB debug while it's running

Yes, I noticed the same.. It would at first not detect my phone, then I put it in debug mode and it "Looped". So I just tried to click on the "mount storage" or what it's called (while in safe mode) and suddenly it trigged.
Not sure if that's why.
It then managed to get to the installing superuser.apk but nothing happend.. So I ticked/unticked the safemode again and then I got a message on the phone asking if I wanted to install it.
I chose yes.. waited some, it said: Running SU test...
Nothing happend, so I once again ticked/unticked, waited some and then it says I have root Now I just have to confirm it, lol..
My root works perfectly.. Running titanium, busybox, setcpu, etc. now
I have tried rooted from my ubuntu but always fail. Trying with superone click, it works Thanks man!
just updated to 2.1 yesterday. within the SuperOneClick zip there's a file called rageagainstthecage. When extracting or trying to drop the file to desktop or any location on my pc, the file dissapears after a few seconds. and YES..I've no virus-scan running at all.
any ideas?
does universal androot work?
no, androot failes: no fu goo
BUT, even if i've no virus scan running, the rageagainstthecage file dissapears when extracting.
The funny thing: changed to an non-admin-account on my win7 and there i could extract and root!!!! Thanks!
On My Device SuperOneClick workes also after a few tries, but to get realy root, i had to install Superuser from market afer rooting with SuperOneClick!!
I must confirm that SuperOneClick works great on my X10 mini .
I was having a 2 little problems :
1. The framework 3.5 on windows xp sp3 was giving me some troubles like errors on access memory ,but i solve it by installing net cf 2.0 and it work flawless.
2. The application tell me that the phone is rooted but could not transfer "superuser.apk" on the phone ant could not install it either.Solved by transfering the apk on my phone and installed with astro.
Hope that was useful.

Get root but still problem with permission when remove default application.
Copy busybox to /system/bin resolved the problem
Superoneclick works with me perfectly; on win7 had to install pdanet drivers and then worked. Only got stuck at superuser upload, but even it was there in the phone and got root with no issues using rootexplorer.
Of course i had to disable antivirus.

Hello Guys...
Just rooted my phone, using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711907
But after root, tried to install Set CPU, but it says there is no root access....
Is there a way to confirm, if the device is rooted?
When i launch the superuser application, nothing is shown in the program, can only set preferences for the app....
What do i do wrong?
Did you install busybox? I forgot to do it and Apps could not access root but I realised my mistake and opened the busybox installer app
Busybox is just saing "waiting" and that the phone isn't rooted...
Is it neede to re-flash the phone with the guide?

Busy Box is something that you install on your Droid to give you some additional handy LINUX / UNIX based commands. You need Busy Box installed because some commands are not available to you and you made need them for some root level tasks.
As for downloading it should be available in market!!

Hi everyone,
I recently receive my new SE X10 mini pro from Vodafone, and I already updated it using PC Companion!
Model: U20i
Version: 2.1-update1
Kernel: 2.6.29
Compilation: 2.0.A.0.504
And now, How can I root him?
I read that we can use z4root and found it in Market, but I did not found that program.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks
It seems that google have removed it from the market. You can find it here instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
I tried to root just about an hour ago with Z4Mod... it seemed like it worked, superuser installed.... but when I tried to download to titanium backup to make sure busybox was installed it said I did not have root.
Verified this by typing su in terminal emulator as well.
What am I doing wrong?
AT&T 1.6 Mini Pro
Thank you!
Also, are there no custom ROMs for this phone?
How can I make it faster?
Is there support for apps 2 SD?
No custom roms yet.
Apps 2 SD is supported.

Z4Mod says the phone is rooted... superuser installs.
However, I do not have root. Titianium Backup states so, and terminal emulater su does not return a #.
Anything i need to do to make this Z4Mod root my mini pro?

I fixed that by enabling USB debugging in the settingss from the x10. maybe it helps for you too.
Try downloading busybox from titanium backup (click "Problems?")
Sure! I have just rooted using it. Type z4root in the search box here in the forum. Someone put a link to the app. You download it to your computer and then to your phone. Install it and it is ready to root a**!
Ok just got a replacement Vibrant. I Immediately went to the official release of froyo to test. Installed fine using KIES. Attempted to Root and did so successfully using the SuperOneCLick app wich when finished tested and confirmed root. Went to install Busybox and it gives me the Nand locked error.
1)Is there a way to confirm phone is nand locked?
2)Ive only found a way to unlock nand is for the Bell version or requires a paid app or extra non Tmobile sim card (wich I dont have). Is there a way to unlock nand for Tmobile not involving either sim card or cash?
3)Is it possible to odin a different rom/kernel (namely TW's Newest Nero) if phone is nand locked and have working busy box/root?
open titanium backup and click on 'problems?' to d/load busybox, same issue?
Yes it downloads busybox and then says "failed" after verifying busybox. Says cannot get root permissions. Please verify you have root and Busybox.
download terminal
open it
type "su" (no quotes)
what did it return?
SU comes up with "Permission denied". Should I try using the "update.zip" method with froyo? As i said the other program confirmed root supposedly. Super User Is installed BTW.
Did you follow this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925400
Ok that was the guide i was following. Issue was that whenever I tried to dl the recommended file manager from market , It would show the dl completeing and then close with the application never installing and not showing up in applications. I had already had ES File explorer installed as that was my favorite on my initial vibrant (pre official 2.2) because the ease of transferring files wirelessly and other functions. I uninstalled ES and ran Titanium again and this time was prompted for SU rights. After giving rights to Titanium i again ran the "Problems" button and ths time busybox installed. Restarted Ti and ran "Problems" and updated busybox just fine.
Seems my immediate issue is done. Now on to backup and then ROM's.
You, my friend, deserve a big, sloppy, man kiss.
*BTW The app Super Manager is still not installing for me even after removal of ES and reboot of phone.
Open titanium backup
Select "market"
Wipe data
Wipe it again for good measure.
Still in tb
Menu > market doctor
Fix market links
reboot
Open market
Agree to terms
Issue fixed?
Perfect that did the trick. Never knew about that feature in Ti Backup. Again many thanks. Working on the CWR signature issues now, following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423 . Dont want to do anything until I have a nandroid to fall back on.

Hi,
at first i downloaded chainfire3d on my device and tried to install the driver but then got error that says can not write to system (or smth like it). After a while i downloaded root explorer, went to system folder, pressed r/w on top and tried again. Still keep getting the same error. Any ideas ?
Is your device rooted? You need to grant Chainfire3D root permission, otherwise it won't work.

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I just posted it here. I have a Visual Land Prestige 7G (not 7L or 7) with android 4.1.1. I have tried EVERYTHING to root this device, but no dice. It is for my daughter, and came with LOADS of bloatware that she not only does not need, but is taking up a huge amount of space, and making the tablet run like cold molasses. I would just build a custom ROM for this thing if I knew anything about doing so. If anyone could help me get rid of this stuff, I would be immensely grateful as I have been fighting with it for days now! This is the first time I have run across a device that I can't figure out. I can usually fix things myself, or at the very least find info to guide me through the parts I did not know. I feel so defeated! lol! PLEASE someone help!

Do you have Play store on your device? If so please search for and install SRT Appscanner and tell me if it shows any bugs listed as not fixed or vulnerable at top of your screen.

Have you tried Impactor? If not, try following the directions below. The guide was written for the Sero 7 Lt but Impactor works on many different devices, just skip the first part of the guide about accepting updates as that applies to the Sero 7 LT. If you need help installing ADB drivers use the program I suggest in the guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45543527
Hope this helps!
*EDIT* i see in one of your previous posts that someone already suggested Impactor but it looks like you may not have ADB drivers working properly if Impactor cant see the device. Does it show any info if you open a command prompt and type "adb devices"?
THANK YOU!!

I already had impactor downloaded so I just needed to download snappea. It turns out it was ADB. I assumed it was working properly because it would show up in device manger as android adb interface. I sure wish I had asked you three days ago! Lol! Can't thank you enough ^_^

Ok so I installed root checker, and it says I'm rooted. I have installed superuser, and App Master. However, I still cannot delete any apps like pre installed angry birds thats taking up 60mb on the internal memory. App Master (and also tried my already installed All in One Toolbox) goes through the motions, and says successfully uninstalled, but is only uninstalling the updates. I thought maybe it was a problem with the superuser app I had installed (by ChainsDD) so I downloaded the one from ClockworkMod. When I open that one I get the message "Binary must be updated". When I click install I get "There was an error installing superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer"
Ummm.....
Nevermind. i think I fixed it. Not entirely sure what i did, but I know I had to redo the impactor. the SRT appscanner was stopping the payload. It was saying it was malicious. Super user installed after that, and it says it's uninstalling facebook now. I guess I'll see how this goes.

Ok scratch that. I am rooted, but still cannot delete bloatware! I have tried 4 uninstallers, all with the same results. Well, actually one says I need to be rooted. I downloaded two root checkers, and both say I AM rooted. Gggrrrrrrr....
Edit: Also tried delting from snap pea. It says "failed to uninstall app. Please grant SnapPea root privileges and try again" I granted SU, but still says the same thing :/

Tried titanium last night with no luck. even tried es file explorer, but tablet wont switch to rw. tried to install supersu just now, but it says installation failed. tried uninstalling the other su app and then install supersu, but no luck. seriously contemplating how far this thing would travel if i threw it out the window! lol
Further, I have also tried the basic r/w command in the terminal, (mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3) but since Im not very familiar with it, I wasn't sure what else to do. I could be wrong, but Im assuming my problem is the read only file system.
Man your lucky to get that far...rooted with impactor and downloaded and installed supersu and it is stuck updating the binary..for about 20 mins it's been saying.. "installing...please wait"
