on version 1.6 i was able to pick group which i want to sync with my phone from gmail account, now 2.1 it just sync all Contacts including mail addresses and its very messy how could i pick just 1 group? thx

I just got my hero and now I'm wondering is there any way to sync my thunderbird with the email client on my htc hero ?
I want to import all emails with folders and contacts .... But until now it seems impossible
If anyone has an idea please share with me.

If you're willing to sync your Hero with Google, then it's easy:
- sync your mail (and SMS too!) to Gmail, and then TB can access them from Gmail via IMAP. And vice versa.
- sync your Contacts toGmail contacts, and TB can access them via the Zindus plugin. and vice versa.
This is the setup I used but I have experienced a lot of problems with the contact synchronisation. I had a few contacts who have been deleted from my address books, I think due to the fact that not all fields in Thunderbird map 1 on 1 with gmail contacts. I had the settings in Zindus set to manual and warning for conflicts but still a few problems. I have now stopped syncing the thunderbird contacts with gmail contacts. If I have a new contact I will enter it in both gmail and thunderbird. The Zindus sync helped me alot for the initial sync because I have more than 800 contacts in my Thunderbird

I have a question about using the Hero as "gateway" to sync my exchange contacts with Gmail.
I have my addressbook in Exchange (I have to use it in my company), although for my personal email I use gmail. But I want to have a single contacts / calendar database. The calendar can be synced easily with googlesync, but not the contacts. Exporting and Importing with CSV file doesn't work very well as Exchange contacts sometimes shows exchange email address and it's not usable in gmail.
My idea is to use the Hero to sync the contacts with exchange (already done via HTC Sync), and then push them to gmail adressbook. But I cannot find a way to do this. Anybody knows?

I'm currently doing so.
But sorry to say although you can do so, some additional details(such as your customed infomation about your contact) it's not usable in gmail's exchange service. Gmail sync only supported information of every contact.
but of course you can try it yourself.
imap.gmail.com port 993 ssl needed
smtp.gmail.com port 465 or 587 STARTTLS/SSL neede
account: your gmail username(with @gmail.com)
address: your gmail username(with @gmail.com)
password: I believe you know it.
Then don't forget to check the boxes that allowed you to sync contacts with exchange server.
EDIT: first problem solved, so need to figure out if deleting the first email address from the phone will automatically give me the option to sync calender with the other gmail address
EDIT 2: tried deleting old gmail address so that I would only have the new one on the phone. it wont let me delete the old gmail address without doing a factory reset. I dont want to do a factory reset, so anyone know how to either delete the old gmail address, or be able to sync the calendar from new gmail address as described below?
Need help with 2 things:
First:
So I have 2 gmail accounts. One ive had ever since i got first android phone a year ago. 90% of my contacts are synced with this email address and phone, problem is that I dont really use this email address anymore. the other I created a couple of months ago and primarly use, but only a few contacts are synced with this email address.
So, how do I transfer all my contacts to the 2nd gmail address so I can get rid of the first? I have tried in gmail, but I must be doing something wrong...
Second:
This is kind of related to the first. I want to use my google calander for the second gmail address I have. but when i go into accounts and sync, it only gives me the choice to sync the calander from the first/old gmail address. There is not option to sync calander with the newer gmail address I really use. So either how do I sync the second gmail address, or per first question above, how do i transfer contacts from old to new gmail so i can delete the old account off of my phone, as im assuming if the newer gmail address is the only one on my phone it will give me the option to sync calendar????

You can export all contacts as CVS I think - from google mail (from your PC) ...
and then Import the CVS file you created on the second gmail

I'm having trouble syncing contacts, but calendar and email works fine. I have two other exchange accounts installed, and one of them is syncing calendar and the other one just email.
I have tried to remove all Exchange accounts on the phone, and re-installed first he main account witch won't sync contacts. At this point it works just fine. But after a while, it stops.
I have a bunch of other apps that access the contact list in case it can have anything to to with the problem:
I use Viber, Skype, WhatsApp, Facebook Cantact Sync from WeedNET, and several of the contacts are combined in the phone.
Can anyone help?

I own a LGg2mini with CM13, address book syncronized only whit MS account, no Google Contats.
Adding a NEW contact (from Whatsapp or address book directly), i see it only for a few minutes. Then disappeared.
To add a new contact need to use Outlook site > Contacts, then i see it on my phone (after Outlook app sync it).
