Just watched a YouTube demo and the guy mentioned pulling the SIM card being the only way to turn off LTE/4G. I know there have been many questions posed and didn't see this mentioned so figured I'd put it out there.

I feel like I just have to ask... why would you want to turn off 4G? if you have no 4G in your service area, the phone already automatically switch down to 3G

To minimize battery drain when you're not needing/using data? I guess you could leech wifi as often as possible too but know many people have asked about disabling 4G, I can only assume its power consumption related.
Don't pull out the SIM card. What happen if you loose it? You'll be ended up by paying additional charge for replacing new sim card.
The good way to disable 4G is just type:
*#*#4636#*#* when you want to make call.
Then, scroll down until you see the word says "CDMA + LTE/EvDo".
Click that and change it to "CDMA PRL Auto".
If you want to use 4G, just do the steps above, and instead of "CDMA PRL Auto", change it to "CDMA + LTE/EvDo" (you can also change to "LTE mode" if you want 4G only).
Hopefully, it will help you

You can "automate" this is a way by downloading an app called "Phone Info" by [email protected] It allows you to enable/disable 4G. Basically does exactly what dialing would do but is faster and easier.

Thanks for the link. My app drawer's cluttered enough with apps, though; maybe after we get root and can remove all the bloat/crap-ware.
I usually just add a contact with all the dialer codes so I don't have to memorize them. I'm in a 4G area, so don't really see the need for this personally, but nice to know the trick anyways.

I used to have the same issue with a cluttered app drawer (I'd uninstall apps I used occasionally just to shrink my app drawer). I started using ADW Launcher EX a while back and it lets you make different app drawer versions. Basically you can choose which apps show up in the app drawer, so you can hide all the bloatware icons and leave the apps you use all the time. Then when you want one of your rarely used apps, just switch to the "ALL" app drawer and it will show every app installed on your phone. Just a suggestion, I found it to be really helpful.

That's an excellent tip! Thanks. I'm actually a licensed paid for version of ADW Ex, but haven't used it in a while, preferring the look and feel of Launcher Pro instead. Might be time to check out ADW again...

I'll use my phone as I see fit, and if I want to save some battery by disabling 4G? Well then, I appreciate the people in this thread who provided that information.
Thanks!

Until a toggle switch comes out, this may be the only way. But who would want to go back to 3G?

LOL it takes 2 seconds. Man you must be laziest person in the world, lol. Download the phoneinfo app that takes you straight to that menu, so now you only have to tap 2 times.

So, what's the way to use Thunderbolt in overseas CDMA networks that doesn't offer 4G LTE service.
Is manual PRL programming (mean ##DIAG mode) or R-UIM card possible solution for this problem?
If you use LauncherPro you can create an Activity to go directly to the phoneinfo screen. I use this all the time to turn off 3G on my Droid1 when I'm at work thanks to no 3g at all.
Long press the home screen, add shortcut, then Activities. Select Settings and scroll down for what seems for ever until you see Phone info and select it.

my atrix was fine today, but the signal suddenly disappeared from my carrier, and not make calls anymore. when I put my SIM card in another phone it recognizes the signal from my carrier and I can call. any ideas?
thanks
HELP!!!!
please
can be a problem in the GSM frequency?? Because I can find other carrier..
may have burned only one frequency?
how to check?
is possible to burn only the 2100 mhz frequence??
1. Try to search network in setting. Than choose your carrier..
2. Last way is to flash your atrix.
Power off / power on the phone. Double check your network and APN settings. Otherwise you might be looking at a factory data reset...

Last night at this time, 4 people I was with had full bars on AT&T, none of us could download/upload or make calls. 2 iphones, 2 android. Someone with a Verizon phone was fine.
Maybe your sim card broke?

Are you still without a signal?
Have you tried the factory reset yet?...
if you can, try someone elses sim card in your phone. Its a long shot but I have seen it work in the past. If it works, takes it out and then put yours in. Otherwise Flash SBF, or take it in for warranty replacement.
Just out of curiosity, have you installed any weird 3rd party apps recently?...

What was the last thing you were doing when the phone was working properly?
Also did anything unusual happen?... (like did the phone freeze, or power off on it's own)

Might not explain the calling, but do you have anything in your APN list?
Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names
If Access Point Names (APN) is Blank, then try manually adding yours in from this Master APN List Thread...

I'd just make a call, and then when I try to do another (some time later) had no more signal. the phone still works ... all turn out!
I'm the unluckiest person in the world!
Anything I can do?
I have tried both Go SMS and regular native messaging app.
Normally when I get an MMS, it rings twice.
Once when it arrives and second when it downloads.
And I got a really important pic message that won't download.
HAAALP!
(Probably wrong section but no one visits Q&A.)
Restart your phone and it will download all over again automatically. Wait for it to dl and give you the notification before opening the SMS app.

I have been all day bro. It's not working.
Any other suggestions y'all?
I know the picture comes thru a Sprint network.
And Using Handcent, I was able to find the URL for the pic. But when I visit it, it just downloads a file to my phone/computer that I cannot open.

Is it off the sprint site? U try logging into your account and then accessing the file? I remember back in the day u used to be able to view all picture mail on sprint website. But that was when picmail was really only email link with thumbnails.
I know its kinda awkward to ask her to send it again, but hey, if u have no other choice? Maybe abduct her phone when she's in bathroom and send it to your email, lol. That way it should pretty much always go thru.
Can someone let us know if htc implemented the map profile so we can get email/SMS pushed to our cars? We are testing some iPhones but I do miss the android ecosystem. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply. Did you also check for any settings for a device that is paired and connected? I'm sorry to bug but I went to an AT&T store yesterday and they had a DEAD htc one on display. It wouldn't boot nor charge. sigh.
Odd, I see this setting on my One. Under Bluetooth -> Advanced, are two options, FTP Server and Message access. Assuming the latter is the MAP setting.
