also me
I'm just going to assume you're all doing it wrong.
I'm going to assume that the Fennec builds you are downloading are the "Official" android ones, which are built for ARMv7.
Wildfire has an ARMv6 core however, so these will not ever work.
There is currently an experimental build for ARMv6
https : // wiki .mozilla .org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#ARMv6_.28experimental.29
The layout does not work correctly though, so don't expect to replace your stock browser.

I would like to play the old classic Scumm games on my phone. I'm running the latest Cyanogen Nightly ROM and would like to know how to do so. I've downloaded the latest version of the apk (1.3), but it says it cannot install for some reason. On the android market, it says requirements are Android 1.5 - 1.6, although I've been told that people with Android 2.3 have got it running. How does one do so?
Try putting it on data/app

Okay, I've done so. Now what? It doesn't show up on my home as an app.
Just installed the apk that I've downloaded from their website on my Defy - running CM7 stable - and it's working.
I see. I'm running CM 7.1 Nightly and it is refusing to install for me. I've tried a couple of times.
Tried chmod?? After data/app??

I tried searching Firefox on the market through my phone and it doesn't show up, on the PC it says that Firefox and Firefox Beta and not compatible with the X10i.
Can someone post a compatible apk of Firefox?
EDIT: Firefox is not compatible with the X10i, because it needs at least 512MB RAM and the X10 has only 384MB of RAM (all the other system requirements are met), but I just found an APK for X10 and it works great and lags only a little bit. I'll post the link here, so that it might be helpful to someone else searching for it
Download Firefox 8 APK for X10 here

What is a good android emulator for windows xp?
Is there any way I can try out Sense 4.0 on my pc with an emulator?
Thanks!
The emulator that comes with the Android SDK is ok especially now that they allowed hardware acceleration.Abd as fir the sense thing you would have to load up a custom rom and there is a tutorial on how to do this just google for it.

The most realistic one is the Android sdk since it emulates ARM hardware which means it can get a bit laggy. The smoothest one is Bluestacks alpha but its running an x86 build of Android which makes it fast on x86 hardware but restricts apps. Looking forward to their beta that is supposed to have ARM compatibility and still be fast.
The android sdk I tried but I cant install .apk that are on my computer. Ill have to try installing a rom.
Bluestacks looks interesting. Is there a download link for the alpha?

Yes but.....
Hello,
Yes, but the beta version coming soon, actually android 2.3.4 ( in the future ??? )
asks go(d)ogle or on XDA there's mod
Note : for XP, need SP3 and 1gb memory (min.)
Use HD-ApkHandler.exe in the install dir ( the two services "BlueStacks Log Rotator Service"(for log) and "BlueStacks Android Service" (for SDCard.fs) must be run).
Tricks to edit SDCard.fs > Stop services and use Winimage.exe, it work very fine

They pulled the alpha download since a beta is coming soon. Google the following file and you'll find 3rd party download links. Its about 120MB.
BlueStacks_HD_AppPlayer_setup_0.6.2.0563_REL.msi

But I don't think they are too far away from the beta release, put your email in on their website to be a beta tester. Really hoping the beta is running ICS. I look forward to seeing how smooth they can get ARM emulation running. They want it to work well enough for games so the end product shouldn't be laggy. Part of the reason the alpha is fast is because its only virtualizing since its running an x86 build of Android.
BlueStacks Beta got released today http://bluestacks.com/
Unfortunately its not working on my pc
I need a Flash Player to watch flash videos on HTC Explorer and Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830.
Which is the best ? Or should I install a browser ?
Both ARMv6 devices so don't expect much to work. There are unofficial flash apks out there for ARMv6 but performance isn't that good. If you want decent flash player you'll need an ARMv7 device.

In this thread it shows HTC Explorer is an ARMv7 device.

Oh, you're right, I saw that it had a MSM7225A SOC and thought it was ARMv6, but the SOCs with the A are actually ARMv7. You can try the Android 2.x flash apk from the site in my signature. For a browser you can use the default one that came with your device or a 3rd party one like Dolphin Browser, etc.

I installed Dolphin Browser & SWF Player - Flash ®FileViewer on both the phones.
On Galaxy Ace, the site worked using the Dolphin browser and SWF Player seperately, but the images are moving in frames i.e still images moving after 5-10 seconds. On Explorer, the site didn't load anything at all using both seperately.
I don't know, why !
Skyfire??works ok fr me

I try to keep it updated all the time, right now the latest version is up. You can always go to the direct Adobe link at the bottom and see. But newer releases are all just security fixes that aren't adding any new features, they will never make anything past version 11.1.x.

Sorry for the stupid question - it's been a while that I used my X10 Mini Android phone...
I am trying to revive my phone for my son and just installed newest stock ROM from Sony. Everything works as Sony - expected, however I do not find e.g. the App Kytephone in the store to install. I heard that this app pretty much close down the phone and makes any android phone a great kids phone.
Any help how I can install that app? Any stting or update to marketpalce needed Would updating to any custom ROM might make that App available to install ? Which one is most stable (as my son shouldn't use too many features anyway...)
THANK YOU!
It needs Android 2.2 or higher, and sony's latest update is 2.1, that's why you can't find it in the store, so upgrading to a custom froyo or gingerbread rom should do the trick

Awsome - thanks, will try. I know this is a non-checker question and it all depends on individual opinions... However, could you name any ROM that has its strength in stability and battery life?
I would go with MiniCM7, the last version to run on stock kernel was 2.0.7, which is quite stable.
Or you could try this, which should run on 2.1 too

The market will only show apps that are suitable for our phones. You get more choice if you run the latest custom rom (which is Jellybean), but the market will also take into account things like the screen resolution, and the architecture of the chip used.
Apps developed specifically for Armv7 or higher won't run on our phones, which have Armv6 architecture, and if an app requires a resolution higher than 240x320, then the market won't show those options either.
If you want to try an app that is unsopported, find a .apk for that app (use a general search for that app), copy it to your sd-card and install it from there. If the app checks it's own requirements (rather than let google-play decide if it's appropriate) it still won't install though. Sometimes you'll get lucky, but that is really rare.
Usually the only way to get an 'unsupported' app to run is to get a different device that fulfill it's requirements.
