Yup I can confirm that, I even tried to do a soft reset but the problem seems to exists
I think we are getting a new update soon, cause there are a lot of weird bugs like caller ID picture to mediascape previews

I think the problem lies with having lady gaga on your phone

I've deleted everything with "thumbnail" via FileManager on my sdcard, then Mediascape did new ones, then now I have the correct ones I think the Folder for Mediascape only is "sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails" or "sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media"?! Someone can confirm that? PS: you've the kill the Mediascape-App and restart it..

2.1 Contact photo bad quality / pixelated

After the 2.1 update, the photos manually added to my contacts are in very bad quality when the person calls (Full screen call)
Is there any workaround or is it just to wait for SE to send out a fix?
Yes this IS bad!
not only bad too bad.................
Mine were exactly the same, as I'd backed up my contacts to my memory card before the update.
Solution is sadly to just go through the contacts and edit the photo again, put the same on back on and its fine, back to normal.
Im guessing its the way the contacts info has been compressed onto the memory card!
They're bad if you use the default Facebook app for the contact photo. If you change them to use timescape Facebook for the photos they look significantly better.

no its still pixellated even if you do that. but only when you are calling/getting a call from them
they are always pixeleted when imported just reaasign the same picture and it goes back to normal.
When you do or get a call, then the contact pics are always pixeleted...since the upgrade.
If anyone has a solution, so he can post it here.

Sound plays but no video

Hello.. I'm a newbie and I've just encountered my first problem with my S2..
All video does not play on my phone anymore. I get sound and black screen.. I get this from video I've recorded and films I have put onto my phone.. This happens off internal and external memory too.
I turned my phone on this morning and tried to view video and now I see all my video's again..But recorded video looks very grainy and pixelated. Not sure if it's software or hardware related, but I'm seriously gutted because it's my sons Birthday today and I'll be unable to record anything.
If I have to take my phone back and get it replaced, what will happen to all of the App's I've paid for? Will I be able to move them to a new S2, with the same Google account?
This is my first Android phone and I know very little...lol. Was absolutely loving it before this video playback problem.. I did a search but couldn't find anything relating to this problem..Maybe I'm not using key words...idk.
Just recorded some new footage and it looks fine..But all video footage I recorded before the problem started is pixelated... Am I best restoring the phone or is there a workaround with some setting or something?
Sorry should have said in first post...I'm on sim free and I've not done anything with the phone yet. V 2.3.3

[Q] Video thumbnails problem

Hi there, guys!
First of all I would like to say that I find annoying the fact that the phone uses the oldest photos in order to use them for the gallery wallpaper.
I copied some pictures today which were read as older and changed my gallery wallpaper.
I changed the file properties and the files I wanted were the oldest again.
But the wallpaper wouldn't change |(it has happened again in the past), so I deleted the .thumbnails folder and let it recreate them again.
All OK, now, it has used the photos I wanted, but like in the past when I had done this again, in the gallery all the videos have no thumbnail anymore...
Do you know any workaround for this problem?
P.S.: There should be an option to choose which photos to use for the gallery wallpaper IMHO..
Hello,
Try openning "Play Movies" app and click on "Personal Videos".
That re-creates my video thumnails.
Thanks,
dmoney98
Hello my friend and thanks for trying to help!
Unfortunately I don't have such an app...
Do you know where I can get it from?
I searched in play shop but i couldn't find an exact match...
EDIT: Seems like goggle videos is not available for my country. Even trying to manually install the apk didn't work (parse error)
Any other ideas anyone, please?
EDIT2: I used Market enabler and managed to install google play videos, chose "Personal Videos" and it did restore the thumbnails..
Thanks a million dmoney98 !!!!

Instagram distorted image problem

I've managed to use Instagram properly during the first few weeks after it was released for Android. Now, every time I upload a picture it gets distored so I have to delete them. Aside from the uploading a picture feature, I have no other problem with the app.
Do other Galaxy Y users experience this also? Is there a possible solution for this?
Model number: GT-S5360
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: S5360DXLE1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected]#1
Build number: GINGERBREAD.DXLE1
Country: Philippines
Instagram version: v1.1.2
ETA: as of 6 June 2012
Instagram updated a few hours ago, and now I can't upload pictures of any image resolution without having it distorted.
yup same problem with me,when i upload a picture on instagram and it's too big,(images from digicam,or the size is more larger) it's distorted, but when a picture is been taken from GY fone and upload on instagram,it's ok..
Thank you. It looks like when I use the smallest resolution 320x240 Instagram uploads the pictures without a hitch. Although the same thing can't be said when I change the resolution a notch higher.
You just need to update it.. 1.11 even if higher the pics will not get distored lower version does but if you update it it will be fix

I just updated Instagram to v1.1.13 but the images still get distorted when I use resolution higher than 320x240.
I hope Instagram updates the resolution choices for Galaxy Y, too.

Yes. I updated it via GooglePlay. Perhaps your setting on GooglePlay isn't tic to automatically update the apps?

If that's the case I'm not sure why. Perhaps Instagram/GooglePlay is doing the updates from one area after another.
I'm using v1.1.3 and used to get distorted images. Don't know if the update has fixed it for me, I haven't uploaded for a while. Gonna try it now...
EDIT: Just uploaded 2 pics taken with the phone's camera and they uploaded fine

Multiple Uploads

Hi, posted this in development by accident! Was meant for this section...
Anyway, I've got this really annoying problem when uploading a file on my phone. If I select ONE picture from the gallery and try to upload it to facebook it tries to upload the whole bloody gallery - All 100+ pictures I have on there. This also happened yesterday when I went to send a friend a picture on Skype - Went to send ONE photo and again, it went and sent every single file in my gallery and I had to go through and cancel them all. To be clear, I hold my finger on ONE picture in the gallery until it highlights blue, then tap the top right and share it through whatever program I want, I assume this is the correct way of doing it?
Is this a bug? Does anyone else have this issue or is it just me?
Thanks.
I bet you got instantly popular when you posted this in development section
So far so good but not much have seen it yet, I'm sure the insults will come
Genuinely thought I was in this section. it's late xD
