i want to put my phone back to uk generic, what is the code i need to put in?
I used 1235-7379, which is UK generic according to another thread on xda, and I've just flashed using SEUS to the UK 2.1 firmware.
So far it seems much much faster than the Nordic one!
il try that, thanks mate, how will i know if it works though?
If you go into the service menu (menu back back menu back menu menu back) and click on software info then the customization version will contain that number, mine does (1235-7379).
I don't know of anywhere where it specifically says 'UK'.
Interestingly my uk generic says world!
I used 1232-9897 and when going to service menu of says WORLD. So I guess I'm back to UK generic :-D

1232-9897 is World generic, not UK..
Uk is, as stated above, 1235-7379
@nathaniel57 - Did you happen to notice the file size when you switched from Nordic to UK?? I've tried a couple of times and cancelled it cos it was downloading something around 142Mb.. which seems too small!

Hi
I haired that software 16 is out, so I checked SE Update Service but it said that I already have the latest software, although I have version 14 on my phone.
How can I find the update?
Thanks
me too! ive got telenor sweden and i cant update to 16 yet!

I'm in the UK on Orange and I am unable to update my x10i. Although I have heard that other UK customers on other UK networks have found this update to be available for the x10i's. Some of this may come down to the provider maybe??

Yes. It's provider based. But Telenor in Sweden has the update since I've got it. However, my phone isn't locked to Telenor!
Telenor Norway got it
I bought mine from Expansys UK SimFree and it is showing 14 as the latest version available for me.
how does this work exactly? if i put a Telenor simcard in my phone it will be upgradeable? what happens if i unlock my phone? will i never be able to update it ?
why cant i just use the SEUS which right now says there is an update but cant install it.
after two years of iphone this sort of updating is very strange and old. where is the android itunes?
I have 1.6
i got mine from carphone warehouse and i show me its upgradeable and it did upgraded to 1.6
I got the update downloaded to my PC... is there anyway of installing it manually?
i4rsh: it depends on what brand of SW your phone has from the beginning it does not rely on the simcard. So if you buy it with Telenor it probably has the Telenor SW in it.
I have the same problem, so i called SE and they say that it seems to be some tech problem with update service atm. So wait until it is solved.
Hi all,
Just purchased an X10 Mini Pro (U20a) and I'm really digging the li'l bugger. Had a few interesting quirks and I wanted to see if anyone has the same problems
Here's the basic info on the phone:
Firmware 1.6
Build: 1.1.A.0.8
Kernel version 2.6.29 SEMCUser(at)SEMCHost #1
Under Settings > About Phone > Baseband it shows at "Unknown".
Under Settings > About Phone > Status > My Phone Number it shows "Unknown". That had never happened to me with my other Android phone, let alone a SE phone.
Is this normal? BTW, the phone was purchased factory unlocked on eBay and above the barcode on the box it has SI 1240-1185.3 XL,AE (whatever that means)
Any help / pointers would be greatly appreciated?
Mine is a UK model updated to the latest software build 1.2.A.1.174 and it shows my phone number, however it reports unknown baseband like yours.
anonimo, thanks for the quick reply. At least that scratches one "off the list".
I only have the unknown phone number "mystery" and one silly question:
Can anyone confirm, if the FOTA 1.2.A.1.174 pkg posted on the other thread can be used for a U20a safely? I think if I remember correctly, U20i users reported it working but I don't recall reading anything from a U20a user..
Thank to all users here for sharing your knowledge and helping others out!

I don't know if SonyEricsson feeds the two models with different packages over the air. If that's the case then it could be that the package on the forum is good only for one model but not the other. I updated my phone (MiniPro) via OTA directly from SonyEricsson.
1240-1185 XL, AE is the GEL Firmware, which is one of three generics known for the U20a at the moment. Brazil as far as I know is still the only generic to have received updates since release. Check the u20a info thread and debrand threads in the Mini Pro Development section for more info. Mine says number unknown and same for baseband version. The latter is probably related to the phone hardware, not sure about the former however.

I am not sure I understand what you mean. My phone is "generic" UK i.e. non-operator branded and I got the update from SonyEricsson...
I unbranded my phone to the UK generic firmware, and get "unknown" for my phone number too. Doesn't seem to have any obvious effect

Thanks for the input. Glad to see I'm not the only one with the missing phone number. benjymous, I know it doesn't affect functionality but I still wondered about why it didn't show up - guess there are gremlins inside the phones!
I'll look at the U20a info thread again. Its a shame the 2.1 upgrade was delayed to "late October" according to Engadget

Generic UK is a u20i build, I was referring to the U20a Generics, of which there are three. GEL (Generic English/Latin America), Bangladesh and Brazil. The former two are still sitting on the release firrmware.
@rmarquez
Just checked the phone number thing out a bit more thoroughly, the number needs to be programmed onto the sim being used. I just used my old Motorola to program the sim and now the number displays on the SE. Not sure how to do it on the SE, will have a look around later and see if I can find something.

Maybe it's a matter of what SIM you are using. Maybe Android uses a SIM command to retrieve the phone number that is not supported by all SIMs...
(Note I have used "maybe" twice because this is just a wild guess!)
Whats the best thing i can do, turns out my rebooting issues are ram related fault with a bad badge of boards. Changed the default.prop values to upgrade to the Nordic FW, was originally orange FW then debranded UK 026. Not sure whats best to do assuming SE wont like the fact it has the nordic 2.1 update! Never made a backup of the orange FW didnt think it would matter UK generic should be fine for them i'd imagine! dont know whats best to do, wait for the UK 2.1 generic update to come out and flash it? then send it away un rooted. Rther than try go back to 1.6
I'd wait for the 2.1 update and flash that if you can.
I had one that was doing that and it got swapped anyway.
Where are you sending it for repair? I sent my x1 with a custom Rom for repair at cpw when the screen went and they made no mention.

No idea they just said it would need to go in for repair for 5 days [and no replacement in the meantime]! dont have any other spare phones very annoying!
She also said theres a 2yr warranty with its hardware. sure the booklet said 1!

Doesn't matter what the booklet says. EU-law: 2-year minimum.

I'll start by saying that I'm not very Android literate, but I need some help.
I bought my wife a White Xperia X10 in the last week from Expansys - unlocked and unbranded. When it arrived it came with a euro power adaptor and French leaflets in the box. Expansys also sent me a UK power adaptor and so a simple change of the language had it working fine.
Today it is not seeing the UK firmware update - does this mean I haven't got a UK phone, and how can I check? The back of the phone under the battery shows Sl 1232-4307 and with a google I think my phone is:
X10i GT-FR GENERIC 1233-2796 1232-4307 Customized FR/Luster white
Now I'm not very happy as I wanted to buy a UK phone, but knowing Expansys customer services its going to be easier to try to solve this myself.
Is it possible to make the phone believe that it is a UK Generic model so I can use SEUS to get the update and have it work as I wanted originally - as a UK handset?
I need some pretty straight forward instructions as I am not Android aware, although I am pretty IT literate.
Thanks
Why do you want it to be a UK handset? To update to 2.1?
If so, go to THIS thread and download the "Executable" file link or just click HERE to download it directly.
When the download is complete, just extract the files to somewhere on your computer, backup any contacts/apps (if any), and turn off your phone. Right after the phone powers off, take out the battery for 30+ seconds (to be safe), plug it back in, then hold the back (arrow pointing left) button and plug in the USB cable. Your LED should go a solid green. If this happens, execute the "X10Flash.bat" file from the folder you downloaded and wait. It should take about 2-5 minutes, and when it's done you will have 2.1 on your phone.
Enjoy.
Thanks very much for the information.
I wanted to become a standard unbranded UK handset to simply use SEUS to keep up to date afterwards. It's my wife's phone so it needs to be simple to keep it up to date.
I was also concerned that I might not get all of the right carrier settings etc unless I use UK firmware.
Finally I noticed this evening that there are some French apps on the phone for finding restaurants etc - I assumed that if I got a UK localised version I would benefit.
Are my assumptions wrong?
Thanks again for your help.
Was just reading that orange branded phones are having 2.3.5 today (UK)
Anyone confirm that? I'm unbranded i would of though I would have it if they do
And yes I know I can root and do it myself, is Kies just rubbish at updating!?

I can confirm 2.3.5 for Orange, mine popped up yesterday
Samsung Kies informs me of 2.3.5 ( Middle Eastern XSG ) since a week but I don't use the stock ROM.
I got 2.3.5 KI4 trough KIES a long time ago (21.10.2011 judging by when i downloaded cf root for it) and i never had any problems with KIES, exept for it requiring 2gb on C drive ALWAYS -_-
I got KI8 2.3.5 through kies on Friday night in the uk

Exactly why I made the post I'm unbranded so one would think I would be one of the first, compared to branded headsets due to the carriers Modding the update.
I'm surprised so far it seems quite random
My phone is also an unbranded (pl plus early batch), so I'd say you got something weird

Updated my unbranded sg2 to ki4 via kies last sunday, and my sg1 to 2.3.5 as well via kies.Strange thing is lots of problems for the first time ever eith my sg1, but its now almost undistinguishable in speed to my sg2, which, by the way has hardly changed for the better exept for portrait video , worse wifi, phone signal, gps and loss of message skins . I wish I hadn't done it.
Had my phone about a week,
No update when i first got it,
installed a few roms etc etc... then went back to offical stock for uk three, and ki8 popped up.
Havnt taken the update yet, not sure if its even worth it atm and was a little unsure if i was ment to be offerd it, not heard off any other three users til now.
Three, vodafone and orange have updated their fw to 2.3.5 you will need to check what csc your phone by putting *#1234# into the dial pad, mine is xeu which is unbranded and still no updates yet.
Won't let me add screen capture to show my phone info.

how random it seems to be for the unbranded handsets...
Ah, my code is XEU too, so I guess mine is unbranded too. Very strange, I always thought that unbranded phones got their updates first?

It's not random, simply put Orange, vodafone and three in the UK have it, Samsung have chosen not to release it to unbranded sets yet..

Ok random isn't the right word... but i've never had a unbranded phone that recieved updates AFTER the carriers?
Like I said though, I could root if I was bothered, I'm just curious, and I would love to know what the hold up is
Sorry not able to edit my earlier post, but just got back from Scotland and checked my gs2 and its only 2.3.4, kies has written the information in a format I haven't seen before instead of the usual three entries, I have four all no gaps and smaller font and because of the mix of XX and XW I thought I had 2.3.5. Still wish I'd kept my earlier firmware though. Sorry if I gave any one false hopes.
Still no 2.3.5 official update over kies for Ukraine (SEK) ((, what do think guys, will it be soon?
