I was under the impression that the typical custom ROM disables the OTA update feature. Is it safe to accept the update with Bionix + JAC's kernel installed, or is bricking a possibilty here? Can I flash it back to stock without "losing" the OTA update?
I'm very curious as to what it might be, because Fusion is based on JI6, which would imply that this update is newer than JI6...
I wouldnt recommend doing the upate, if stock gives you problems imagine a custom rom

I just received the same update also while running Fusion. I unrooted, deleted the update.zip then accepted it. It rebooted back into Fusion and didn't change anything. Apparently it's a Media Hub update.

So, I returned to stock, did the update, it failed - or so it seemed. The radio is DI01, but the stupid no service notification is still there. Is there a way to apply just the remaining update? I am already rerooted, launcherpro'd and just applied the deodexed rom - and dont want to do it all over again.

No, if you just applied the de-odexed rom, there's no way that update is going to work.
Check with Frost, I assume his rom was based on DI01, so you probably have all the updates to the applications, but not the OS (since you're still getting the service notification).
If you go back to stock, I have an update that skips the modem that I made for myself, but there's no chance it's going to work for you at this point.

I guess its not really a big deal, and don't want to bork the phone over a silly notification sound. I hoping to see some frozen yogurt rolling by soon and Im sure it will be included then
Thanks for your reply

I flashed the update from jt1134, was trying to get back to stock but need the DH12 build.prop. i'm downloading the system dump but internet is slow does someone have it?
I flashed a couple of different ROMs on my fascinate and got them set up and running beautifully. The problem is when I reboot I get FC like crazy. What am I doing wrong. Sorry if this is a stupid one, I came from OG Droid where everything is much more simple. Thanks..
which roms? 2.2 or 2.1? if 2.2, how did you get it? did you get the official update, or did you flash the odin package, or do it separately?
Evil Fascination 3.4.0 with wipe. Stock kernel. used the cwr found in this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048380
I can't seem to get Update All to work. I am rooted on cyanogen mod 7, running 2.3. When I click Update All most of the downloads/installs fail. and the eris is dog slow. Do I need to go back to updating one app at a time?
My Eris just hung then rebooted trying to use Update All. Oh well.
You don't say which ROM.
I had that problem with GSB, but I do not with CondemnedSoul's CM7 ROM. (Though, to be fair, GSB would eventually all update if I just kept doing it.)
My GS2 was rooted and had CWM before the OTA update. My update kept failing so i reverted to stock with bloatware and 3e recovery, re-rooted, and the OTA went through successfully. Wifi was working before and after, but, when I flashed CWM with Mobile ODIN Pro, my wifi no longer worked. Even reverted back to stock 3e with Mobile ODIN and it still didnt work. Have tested this 3 times with the same results. Has anyone else ran into the same issue?

The only way I was able to fix this was revert to stock 2.3.4 there is a thread somewhere here under rom 2.3.6 by vladm7 that has a wifi fix page 7. It was just easier for me to flash u.named rom

Hmm...that wifi fix seems like its only for Entropys kernel (according to op that is)
It is possible that it may work for other kernels. There is only a small change to define the wifi device node location. Backup your files by pulling them first before pushing the new ones to try it out. Reboot isn't necessary.
I have an initramfs update that MIGHT fix things in my kernel, I might be releasing tonight - not sure.
Very busy with the holidays.
Hey everyone,
As you know, the official SGS2 ICS update is rolling out.
I have the stock GB rom but I rooted it using superoneclick
Will I have any issues updating via Kies to ICS?
Anything I can do to not have problems?
Thanks in advance !
If it is just rooted and otherwise stock, there should be no problems because root is just lost after the upgrade. Keep in mind that a custom kernel or ROM will prevent Kies from working, so will a custom launcher. Always close the launcher and use Touchwiz, no idea why but Kies doesn't seem to recognize the phone when a custom launcher is running (like ADW or Go Launcher).
To avoid rerooting, just install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, upgrade to ICS and restore the root with the app.
Needless to say, always do a Nandroid backup in case the ICS upgrade goes wrong, is buggy or you don't like it. That's the best way to avoid problems because it acts like a failsafe
Other then that I don't know of any problems that can occur despite the upgrade going wrong but in that case Kies is to blame. To keep root use the app I mentioned above, worked flawlessly on my TF101 for the last 4 updates.
Thanks
Thanks a million
you should have your fingers chopped off for starting a thread identical to 30 or more started in the last week just like the mods that allow it should have their eyes checked
