Already check the settings in handcent and the led notification is checked.

this is already a discussed bug with 2.1 nordic. look here for details:

I'm not sure it's a problem with your phone, I think it's meant to do that . I don't know if there's a mod out there to stop it though...
It's definitely meant to do that
damn then i have to hope that a mod will be released
Turn the phone off?
I think you should request a dev to do that as I think it will never be made as your phone should really do that. I'm not sure if there's even a phone which will not turn on its screen when a sms is received.

Coming from htc phones all this while..this screen turning on when recieving sms/mms/email is really annoying..hopefully someone can cook something to totally prevent this. I guess samsung designed it thia way due to lack of notification led.

on my nexus one, the screen will not turn on when an sms is received. but i can turn this option on if i want so that the screen DOES turn on with an sms. its all about choice. maybe you guys could try handcent, and root and remove the stock messaging app to stop this.
i've just noticed that my phone has started doing this too.
i have sms popup installed and the default sms notification is turned off therefore sms popup should handle the sms notifications.
i have "leave the screen switched off" set in sms popup but the screen still turns on.
this is also happening with the exchange client and i think it might have started since KE7 ...
any ideas ?
Hi all, I have a slightly annoying problem. Whenever I boot up my phone, after about 20 seconds I get the message pop up like in the screenshot I have taken. After pressing force close it doesn't come up again, but I don't know why it does out in the first place.
I tried removing set cpu but the message still popped up. Everything seems to work ok (except the damn deep sleep without aero mode on boot) but this message box annoys me...
I am running j's cm7 with and the baseband provided with it, along with the bootloader bypass v2. I'm just wondering if any of you have ideas our know what could be causing this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Problem solved, someone else on the forum had the same issue and the problem was that we had the 'set on boot' option selected in settings> cyanogenmod settings> performance settings> cpu settings.
Its all good now, i hope this can help someone

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 on O2 here in the UK. I updated the firmware on my SGS2 when O2 UK began providing Android 2.3.5 a couple days ago, and I noticed that vibrate on my phone no longer works. I've set Vibrate to "Always" and it does not vibrate during calls, received texts/IMs, anything. I've also tried the Vibrate test from the LCD Test screen (*#0#* or something like that) but to no avail.
Has anybody else had this issue with a SGS2 on Android 2.3.5? Any assistance would be appreciated!
Reflash the ROM. If doesn't work Service Centre is the option

This Android 2.3.5 was through KIES. Is there any way I could I revert back to 2.3.3?

Yes. Download a 2.3.3 ROM from Intratech's thread of carrier branded ROMs and flash via Odin.
Go into "settings-sound-haptic feedback".Check that haptic feedback is checked.
What were the changed from 2.3.4 to 2.3.5 or whatever you were on?
Hi guys,
I do have the same problem. Is there's any other way than just wipe out all data to factory default and flash again? Currently, my SGS2 is acting really strange. Sometime the vibration is working, sometime not... all of this happen randomly.
PS - I doubled check my settings too. Vibration is set to always and the Haptic feedback is checked.
Thanks for your help!
Same thing happening for me too
I set Vibrate mode to always but in few mi nutes it resets back to never. My phone is not rooted also

Uninstall Tiny Tower = fixed the problem. Some apps have so much control over our phones. They can read and manipulate really damn everything on your system. In my case, Tiny Tower was controlling my vibration mode and well, I don't know why, it was disabling and enabling it randomly.
Also happening to me. I'm using 2.3.5 as well.
Vibration does not work for notifications, no matter what settings I use.
It works for phone calls and for haptic feedback, but not for notifications of any kind: gmail, whatsapp, SMS..
Does it happen to you as well?
Any idea what I can do, besides the factory reset?

All righty. It was my fault. I use the "Quick Settings" App and I had selected a Sound & Vibration setting there that seemed to override the settings.

Thank you for your help because without this options i learned that some of the Instant Messaging when you receive the message it did not vibrate.
SGS2: vibrate not working
I found that third patry apps like andriod assist takes over the phones default vibrations settings. Try uninstalling those apps and you should get the vibration working again like you want it to.
My X10 Mini Pro crashes after some minutes within a voice call conversation. I'm using nAa with MiniCm7 2.2.0. It just stucks. I had this in Simplexity 2.2 also. Can somebody help me?
I am having a similar problem with MiniCM7 2.1.9. My phone freezes and sometimes reboots, other times becomes unresponsive to all, so I have to remove the battery to be able to reboot.
I did not have this problem with GinTonic and stock kernel, so Im not sure if this is indeed a problem with the ROM, rathe the kernel.
Could anyone add more info / details on this?

More digging
Since I got no replies I've started digging myself...
I've plugged my phone in USB and started a live view of logcat.
Then I've tried to reproduce the problem (open and connect Skype, then call someone - in this case, the "Skype echo/call testing service").
A few seconds later my phone gets all black and completely unresponsive.
And in logcat, nothing . Just tome "write blocked (...)" messages
Is there a way to get the logs from the kernel execution?
PS: I'm still posting here because XDA does not allow me to post in the dev thread.
There's anyone got an issue with LED? Since upgrade to 4.0.4 my LED not blink for all notifications (WhatsApp, SMS, Missed Calls, Facebook) when screen off.

I had the same issue. Seen a few posts scattered around and seems to be fairly common but I haven't seen a solution yet. I've downgraded back to 4.0.3 mainly because of the led issue.
