Em, how exactly did you uninstall those system apps? the only real safe way to do it is moving those apps with root explorer or adb from /system/app to /data/app, reboot the phone and then uninstall them like any other market app using the application manager in the setting or some app like mini uninstaller (love that one). fix your phone and do it like this. titanium and other methods are less effective or phone destructive, at least for me

oh
I did not this
I same times used titanium to uninstall the apps without move to data/app
same times with root explorer deleting from system/app
I will try it

Be careful what apps are you uninstalling.. If you wanna remove some of google apk, only one that you can remove are googlesearch.apk and enhancedgooglesearch.apk. Everything else that have google in part of the name is "must have" since its closely related to google login/synh/market login.
I mentioned to another member, if you are interested, i can post you complete <safe to remove> list of .apks that i find out (there is maybe more), the phone will start without any errors and everything will work fine.
Well, you just need a little of brain to figure out what you can not uninstall. Google **** rocks, in my humble opinion.

Yea, its quite easy to figure out what to delete and what not to touch. After few reflashes, i downed list to a 10 stocked apps and manage to replace stock Contacts.apk with a Contapps one, and stock Conversations.apk with HandcentSMS. Its quite easy.. dont touch google and Semc stuff and everything will be kk Oh, you can remove backup and restore if you wanna, since you can use Titanium or xRecovery backup.
I just came across this just now. According to Droid Life, there is a new google music apk when the test market was accidently released. I was curious if anyone has gotten sync to work? Possibly using titanium to remove the HTC music app then installing the new google music apk? I'm currently tied up at work and school and unable to test this out.

Under Accounts & sync, click Google. You should now have a 'Sync Music' option.
I tried this last night and never really got it to work properly. I have like 10 gigs of music on my phone and it continued to sync all night and through today. I finally chose to shut off the sync option and run with what's on my phone. Not like I'm running out of room with this monster sd card lol. I'll let them get it officially up and running first. I just clicked on the instructions link in the other thread. They're easy to follow, all seemed to go smooth. Dunno. Maybe it does work, and I should have chose to test with just a few songs instead.
I'm, a total noob at this - just did my first ever SBF, root, and custom ROM flash all in one sitting three days ago (after spending many hours on here over the last week or two reading up on it). I started from a totally stock, never rooted Droid X2 that had received the 2.3.5 update during the soak - and used Moon Shadow's guides to SBF back to 2.3.4 and then root the device (using zergRUSH). I then followed dragonzkiller's guide for installing CM7.2.0-RC1. I followed all of these instructions VERY carefully and didn't have any problems at all - or so I thought.
When I booted CM7, my old background pic was still there, but everything else was new and worked great, so I didn't think anything about it (but now know this isn't right). I realized soon after that the Google apps were not loaded (Gmail, Maps, Nav, YouTube, etc.), but some of the other apps in that same ZIP file (that was flashed AFTER the CM7 flash per the instructions) DID get installed (like "Talk").
I was able to download/install the missing Google apps from the Google Play Store (still hate that stupid name) without any problems and they all work perfectly (including Nav from the car dock) - and everything else has been running flawlessly. The phone is very fast & smooth... no bugs... not a single force close or reboot yet after fairly heavy use for the last couple of days.
So... obviously something didn't go perfectly with my install, but as far as I can tell, everything is fine with the phone.
My questions are:
1) How can I tell if I'm missing anything else?
2) Should I just keep what I have or do I need to SBF back to 2.3.4 and start over again?
I'm perfectly happy with it right now - but maybe I don't know what I'm missing.
p.s. I would have posted this in the CM7 install thread in the Dev forum, but I'm not allowed to post there yet.
Thanks!
Well your post indicates that nothing is wrong. lol. If you have the google apps that you want on there and working now and everything is smooth then in my opinion, you are fine just how you are.
LOL! Well, yeah... as far as *I* know, I'm fine... but this is the first time I've done this, so I don't know what I'm talking about. Just wondering if something else may not have been done that could cause problems later - or if I'm missing any other apps that I may need/want. Is there a list anywhere of all the apps that are included in that Gapps ZIP?

You can extract the zip and look at what apk files are in there.
---------- Post added at 11:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 AM ----------
I just did it and this is actually all thats in there:
CarHomeGoogle.apk
FOTAKill.apk
GenieWidget.apk
GoogleBackupTransport.apk
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk
GoogleFeedback.apk
GooglePartnerSetup.apk
GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
LatinImeTutorial.apk
MarketUpdater.apk
MediaUploader.apk
NetworkLocation.apk
OneTimeInitializer.apk
SetupWizard.apk
Talk.apk
Vending.apk
Thanks. Hmmm... I don't see Gmail, Maps, Nav, YouTube, etc. listed specifically in there. Is it possible that those apps don't get installed automatically along with CM7 when following dragonzkiller's instructions? Maybe I'm making something out of nothing. Is there an easy way to tell of those APK's are installed on my phone? They aren't in the App drawer by those names (well, other than "Talk").
I know some of them are on the phone though (Google Quick Search box is on the home screen, my contacts and calendar all synched from Google, and the Market/Play app was there (Vending.apk?), so maybe everything that's was supposed to be there WAS there. I thought I read in a post here somewhere that Gmail, Maps, Nav, YouTube, etc. would be there automatically too.
Told you I was a noob!

I actually dont remember if Gmail, Maps, Nav, YouTube, etc. were there when I installed it. I really didnt think much of it and probably just installed what I needed from the Play Store. The main thing you need to worry about is being able to sign into your gmail account and getting on the play store. If you can do that, it installed fine. A lot of those APKs are system files and services. They wouldnt show in your app drawer. If you wanted to see them on your device, you would need a file explorer and navigate to the system/app directory.
Awesome... I just used "File Manager" that's already loaded and found the system\app folder. Everything is there... I'm fine. I guess the only question left is why was my old background pic still there after SBFing and wiping the big 3, but I'm not gonna worry about that. Already changed it.
Thanks for the help!

lol. That happens to me when I switch roms sometimes too. The wallpaper will stay the same. Dont know why. But bottom line, you're install is fine.
I have tried installing omega 7.1 about 8 times now following the following instructions to install it.
- backup settings (call log, sms etc.) via samsung
- butch backup user apps via TitaniumBackup ( backup all user apps with their settings)
- backup TouchWiz home via TitaniumBackup
- create TitaniumBackup update.zip
- full wipe (as recommended in the OP)
- flash Omega using Default installation
- start android
- setup samsung account and restore settings (call log, sms etc.)
- skip google setup
- reboot to recovery and flash TitaniumBackup update.zip
- butch restore user apps via TitaniumBackup
- restore TouchWiz home (only data) via TitaniumBackup
- setup google accounts
- setup mail accounts
The ROM install goes well, fully functional and my settings back as they were, my problem is that I prefer to have the stock toggles on the drop down menu. When I revert them to stock with the Omega file kitchen files I do indeed get my stock toggles back and fully functional. But after doing that my SMS sounds are sometimes none existent, by this i mean that when receiving an sms with the screen locked the screen lights up and the sms envelope appears at the top on the status bar but there is no sound or vibration, I have toggled the notification icon in the toggles and it is green, i have even tried re toggling it to no avail. I have noticed though that it seems like all system sounds have gone too when this happens, so then I check all of the sounds settings and they are all fine, then all of a sudden sounds kick in again, weird? this is not happening on the stock ROM because I have tested it a few times between trying to suss this problem out. So when the sounds come back again I try again and it does the same thing. Its impossible to have transferred any settings as I started system settings from new each time. I know you will say "well don't revert the toggles to stock" but I am pretty sure that one of my tries that it happened before doing that,
Can anyone help, or is anyone else having the same issues when reverting to stock toggles?
I've had the same problem for a very long time...with all roms....the only way I fixed the issue was not using titanium back up and starting from scratch? For some reason titanium back up corrupts the files .....I instead imported everything from gmail

Were you able to have backups of you apps from any method? I have lots of infor stored in my apps that I cant really lose. and did titanium corrupt even if you didnt save any system settings, just apps and app data?
Like I said, I started from scratch....which meant I lost app data....I also tried just adding just my contacts....still the same issues....one thing I didn't try was just adding the apps....give it a go.

OK, I just tried a totally fresh install of omega 7.1 I downloaded all of the apps direct from google play, I deleted all of the titanium backups just so they couldnt get in the way. i didnt touch the rom from its default and I am still getting the problems with sms sound, I did a system wipe factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik and formatted system partition, I didnt even change anything back to stock in omega, just left it as it comes, so then i reinstalled my stock rooted backup and it works perfectly again. weird

So can i put this kernel into omega 7.1?? Im a noob at this
I have cured this issue now, Omega 8.1 has been released, so just to make sure that I didnt transfer any bad settings over I did it all from scratch, I also un-checked google backup initially incase there were any bad settings / back up in there too, and I did not use nor install titanium backup. after installing everything step by step I tested the sms sounds in numerous ways and not it works perfectly, the rom is nice and smooth too, so if anyone has problems with SMS sounds then grab the omega v8.1 rom, thank to everyone for your suggestions.
Got my 32 in the mail today and immediately unlocked bootloader, twrp, and rooted with no problems. went right to titanium backup and froze all the garbage bloatware so I don't have to look at that junk polluting my gorgeous new screen! Love this phone already!
For someone who is pretty new to the whole unlocking and rooting process, is it pretty simple? I read that you could loose the flashlight and calculator, did it happen to you?
If you lose it, just go and install a rom!

Didn't lose Calculator, don't recall having a flashlight app... but yeah Rooted, unlocked, CWM. No ROM yet though, holding out for AOKP
same as everybody else. It is easy as long as you can follow directions! I didn't have the flashlight app or a ringtone maker to start and no, I didn't lose the calculator. There is a ton of apps and dashboard switches you can download to replace any stock things you may lose though.

Not if they're frozen. If you try to uninstall them they will reappear after a reboot because of the way the system is protected. Using a custom kernel or installing a custom ROM that has the apps removed are the only ways to completely get rid of them right now I think, but freezing them is good enough for me.
Why not just disable them through the regular app manager?

This goes back to freezing them. That's the safest way you can "eliminate" junk apps without jacking up your phone. No need to search for a "safe list". You can use Titanium Backup or Rom Toolbox to freeze apps.
Same here. first thing I did once I had root was to freeze at&t's preinstalled bull****. Add tasker and gsam battery, I'm good to go for the time being while waiting for ROMs to shake out all the bugs.

I normally use Titanium Backup to remove bloatware and was shocked when I rebooted my phone and they all came back. I know you can freeze with TiBu if you have the paid version but I am cheap. It isn't that they don't deserve it, I was close to purchasing it before I found Bloatware Freezer Free.

There is a flashable tweak that removes the bloat. And it sticks after reboot. I don't remember what it's called or who did it... Been a month since. I did it. But it is here on XDA.
