The official o2 2.1 update has bricked my streak
Well I say bricked, it won't get past the dell logo. I can get into fastboot and recovery but both stock recovery and clockworkmod but I can't update the SD card with the original stock rom to unbrick it. As its bricked I can't get into the OS to mount the SD card. I can flash via fastboot but not sure of a command that will allow me to flash to the sdcard. I have tried fastboot -i 0x413c flash sdcard update.pkg/zip but this doesn't work. From what I can tell you can only flash to the internal memory? Any ideas?
Thanks
Rob
Same thing has happened to me. The official 2.1 update rebooted after install and can't get past the Dell logo screen.
I have tried all the recovery roms various Update.pkg.'s no luck....
All can't boot past Dell screen. :-( bricked? Thanks o2...
Streak was unrooted, no custom roms, or recovery images had been done. What pita....

Ok a big f*ck you to O2. But I'm back in business.
M4D4, if you're still stuck this is what you need to do.
Get a micro SD card reader
Put your SD card into the reader
Download the stock 1.6 rom from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6KBABM67
Rename this to update.pkg and copy it onto your SD card
Insert the SD card into the streak
Hold BOTH the volume up AND volume down buttons while holding the power buttons
Now you will be in recovery mode, navigate up and down using the volume buttons. Navigate to number 2 'update software via update.pkg'
Press the camera shutter button ALL THE WAY in
A new screen will ask you to confirm, press the shutter again
Leave the streak updating until it boots into the home screen (note - it will stay at the dell logo a lot longer than usual as it is rewriting the dalvik cache but should take no longer than 10 minutes)
Pat yourself on the back and flip O2/Dell the bird
Yep I think Lots of people have had the same prob - me included -
Follow the above instructions and it should be ok.
use a micro SD reader to upload the DELL version of 1.6 (no others will work) to the root of the card.
Reboot - mine took extra long to come back up... sticks at DELL logo... be patient.
Once thats working - copy the 2.1 ver "Update.pkg" to the SDCARD reboot it again and 2.1 will install.
Turn on by holding down both vol buttons and ON button.
Select option 2 - update from SDCard, screen txt should be blue.
Press the camera button - it should then install 2.1
Once it all reboots - wait for some time (I thought mine had bricked again) paused for a while on the DELL logo, then it came to life... 2.1 up and running
Been stable since then, but there is some lag when selecting apps for the home screen that is a bit crap. Mine was quick before.
Although photos feels a lot quicker
I'm using the leaked 8023 build with the buildrop from 8105.

7. Click on the button “PIT” and load the “s1_odin_20100512.pit” file
8. Click on the button “PDA” and load the “I9000XXJP2-REV03-PDA-CL464213.tar” inside of the firmware download’s .rar file.
9. Click on the button “Phone” and load the “MODEM_I9000XXJP2.tar” inside of the firmware download’s .rar file.
10. Click on the button “CSC” and load the “GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJP2.tar” inside of the firmware download’s .rar file.
11. Click the checkbox next to: “Re-Partition”
12. Your settings should now look like Figure #2
13. Plug your phone into your computer with USB Debugging on
14. Look at the gallery below to see if everything is going right
15. Once done, your phone will boot up
And now the phone Rebooted and I get the following message “update media, plase waite E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (invaild argument) E: copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD: you storage not prepared yet. plase use UI menu for format and reboot actions. copy default media contenr failed.”
I have tried in vain to boot in the “Download Mode” to try and re flash the device and no luck.
I have tried using the following commands in SDK “C:\android-sdk_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools\adb reboot-bootloader” and no luck
Am I hosed?
It seems to me that I need to reformat the internal SD Card but I cannot select any of the options in the Android System Recovery <3e>
The options I have are
Enter: OK Key, Select : Vol UP /Vol Down
Reboot system now
Applysdcard:update.zip
Wipe date/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Format internal sd-card
The Volume rocket works to move between the above options but I can use the “OK” key nor any other to select an action
Anyone else run into this issue any thoughts?
I was going to try and see if I move the files to my extra SD card and see if this works but as I cannot select an action I am lost.
I have looked at the recovery (factory recovery option but as I mentioned I can not get to the Download mode.
Thanks in advance

Try "adb reboot download".
You do know that flashing an i9000 froyo ROM makes your phone brick if you try to come back to a stock ROM, right? I see that you're looking at JP2, which might be early enough to avoid that, but I thought I should mention it. In the dev section, Eugene posted a non-bricking version.
thanks I will try this and let you know if it works

I am having the same problem. The OK key is not OK cause does not work. Nothing in the world can make the device enter in download mode. And, of course, the adb can not work because the device is not recognized by windows.
I had the same issue, if you boot your phone w/ usb plugged in, you can go into adb shell, however, that's as far as I can get, is there any chance I can fix my vibrant by exploit the unrooted shell?
I had a similar issue and fixed it.

Moving to Q&A
got it working now got an Os splash screen but it works this is how i did it
HOW TO RESTORE YOUR STREAK BACK TO FACTORY CONDITION:
Option 1.
1. Download the stock recovery ROM HERE (http://hotfile.com/dl/61659279/506ac...stock.img.html) and the stock official Dell ROM HERE (http://hotfile.com/dl/61663686/7d7e5...99_21.pkg.html).
2. Rename the stock official Dell ROM 'Update.pkg' and put it in the root directory on your SD card.
3. Boot Streak in fast boot mode (hold camera button when turning on), press 'Fast boot Mode' button, wait 10 seconds then connect to your PC (must have Dell PC suite installed).
4. Open a command prompt, navigate to the folder where your 'fast boot-windows.exe' is stored.
5. Type 'fastboot-windows.exe -i 0x413c flash recovery c:\recovery.stock.img' . Make sure the .img file is in c:\ directory. The program will now update the recovery image on your Streak.
6. Once the phone reads 'Recovery Done', remove the battery and insert it again.
7. Boot Streak in Recovery mode (hold down vol up and vol down when turning on) and select option 2.
5. Wait till it installs and it'll boot into Android....DONE!
Option 2
Place update.pkg on SD card root folder
Power up streak whilst holding both volume buttons
Select option 2 - "software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD card" by pressing camera button
Press camera button again Job done
i think later tonight i'll try to upgrade to 2.2 wish me luck and thanks for all your help EDRILL
i spend a whole night now to get android work on my hd2. had the same error message...
now i know why it didn't work and the solution was dead easy i had to beat myself...
sd card has to be FAT not FAT32
after formatting the card this way, everything works fine ^^
Are you sure it has to be FAT? I have heard there are restrictions on this format that would make it impracticle to use on a 16gb microsd.
Also how you format to fat? my computer only has 2 options to format: Fat32 and exfat.
FAT can only allocate up to 2 gigabytes of storage so there is something dodgy about that explanation.
ok i think ive come to a conclusion that if i want to flash a regular rom like 351 i need to flash a amss file and a dsp1 file...before i flash the recovery and update....can someone conferm this???
also if thats the case is this something that should be done with 1.9
im having problems with both and my phone is now a paper weight please help me noone is helping me with any problems here!!
You're likely not getting answers because the information is in your instruction manual and on the forums. But, this should help you anyway.
To install 351, or for that matter, ANY official Dell ROM...
1. Download the 351 update package from here. Place said package on the root of the MicroSD card and rename to "update.pkg".
2. Shut down the phone.
3. Place the phone into recovery mode by holding both the volume up and volume down buttons at the same time while holding down the power button. Let go of the power button when the Dell logo appears.
4. If done properly, you should see a menu in white letters on a black background. This is recovery mode. In the menu that should appear there should be an option to flash an update package. Select this option using the volume up and down buttons to highlight your choice and the camera button to select. The Streak should automatically find the update package you put on the MicroSD in step 1 and install it. After that, it's a matter of patience and waiting for the process to finish.
If your recovery image is screwed up, search for multirecoveryflasher on the forums. From there you should be able to install a recovery image easily enough.

yes i am....
Ok, did you flash one of the stock recovery images, or one of the two that were modded (Streakmod and Clockworkmod)? I would restore one of the default images, whichever one was last on your phone, then do the update.
The fact you can get into fastboot means the phone isn't bricked, so that's good news.

i've flashed 351 recovery and i kept gettin the boot loop....then i flashed the 345 and same thing....then i flashed streakmod and flashed 1.9 and i get the same lock ups when i boot and boot loops.....
also
when my phone is in data mode and i try and reboot it that causes alot of problems with loading idk why but that might help
Download the update.pkg and the recovery again. They may have been corrupted. Then pull all the data off your external SD Card and do a full format (FAT32) on it. Once the format is complete load the update.pkg to the phone and try again.
I hope this is in the right section, don't know as I am new to XDA.
But I have a real issue. Here goes.
I recently updated my Xperia S to ICS. And I thought I want to root it.
So I went ahead and started, but when I should have placed a zip file on my internal memory, I extracted the files there instead.
So no, on CWM, when I am supposed to install from .zip file, I can't, since I do not have .zip file there.
I have tried almost all of the options on CWM on the phone, nothing works and I just get back to the start.
So my question is, how do I get out of the loop?
Is there any way I can access my phones files? So I maybe can put the SuperSU .zip file in the directory?
I can boot the phone in fastboot mode, but then it doesn't show on the computer.
Or maybe I can just reverse everything? An easy way, because I am not the best when it comes to this. I have found some solutions, but they ALL require that you put files on your SD card. Only problem is that my phone doesn't have SD card, only internal memory. ANd I can't access that right now.
Please help
Download Flashtools from http://androxyde.github.com/
Download a stock ftf rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599303
Put the downloaded rom in the flashtool/firmwares/ folder, then go to flashtool/drivers/ folder and run Flashtool-drivers.exe, when that has finished restart your computer.
Turn phone off, now press and hold the volume down button and connect the phone to your computer with the usb cable, when you get a green led you can let go, you are now in flash mode.
Start up flashtool, or flashtool64 if your on an x64 system, click the thunderbolt icon in the top left corner, select flashmode and click ok, in the left hand window select the rom you downloaded and then click ok in the bottom right corner.

Is your Bootloader unlocked?
Hello, I'm having the same problem too, but I wonder how do I "turn off" the device, since I keep pressing the top button to do this and it reboots and goes into CWM mode? Will I have to remove the battery?
Good news. Luckily I managed turn off the device. In the CWM main menu, keep the cursor positioned over the option that resets the device. Hold down the power button and immediately after, press the volume up and hold. Wait until the device vibrates 3 times. Now ready you run the procedure to connect in download mode and reinstall your firmware.
You guys must have used cmd to flash nozomi-recovery.img?
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, exactly. I used recovery-nozomi.img with CWM version 5.5.0.4 ... but I made a mistake in not installing SuperSU.

That's why I hate nozomi - recovery.img!
Nothing to worry... Happened to me too.
Use flashtool to reflash entire ftf(if you have ulbl) else use SEUS to repair (if you have lbl, I hate pcc!).
If lbl.... Then ulbl.
Use cmd to flash a custom kernel(don't use doom kernel its for gb).
Finished....
Thank... If helpful

hmm
Had a similar problem.. FIxed it with a lot of reading but now dnt remeber anymore :/
I'm having this problem too...
Almost everything is ready for flashing now, except the phone is not really turning off, even after 3 vibrates when holding down power and volume up... It turns off, but coming back in flash process!
That's how far I can go: It turns off, I hold down volume down, connect it to PC, have a green light. Flashtool see the phone, I push Flash button,Program gives "Device connected in flash mode" message, then "Selected Xperia s (LT26i)_WORLD_6,1,A,2,50_IT.flf" message, "Preparing files for flashing" message and "Device disconnected" message, because this stupid Recovery back on my screen again...
If I just can find the way to turn off my phone, so it's not come back to live when connected to PC...

SOLVED!
I manage to fix it!
Just wait for Flashtool to give error message (with phone picture and USB cable in it) and ask to reconnect device. Unplug device, press power button and volume up button until vibrate 3 times. Push volume down and plug usb cable, to get green light. Flashtool continue process from where it was broken.
Error message popped up not from first try, so hopefully this will be helpful to somebody...
