Hi, I´ve a little problem:
Coming from 2.1 O2 UK, I´ve tried to update via 1.1.1 to 1.2
Update 1.1.1: still the DELL logo. After few tries, I´ve restored a 1.6 nandroid with the same effect. Dosn´t work.
Fastboot ok, must copying the updates via cardreader.
Howto get a clean froyo to my phone?
prerequisites for 1.1.1 update? Clockwork 2.5.0.1 installed.
Thanks!
edit: partial solved:
the recovery.img via clockwork from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774531 and the 8105 ROM from http://android.modaco.com/content/d...2-1-downloads-how-tos-rom-superboot-recovery/ made a clean 2.1

Hi everyone,
I currently have the htc official 1.5 ROM but did use nandroid a while back to try out another ROM, but reverted back to 1.5.
I have recived the OTA update message but when i click install it reboots loading nandroid, i then have to select reboot phone (from the nandroid menu), it reboots then no update.
I have tried this many times.
Thanks for your time.

You could just move the back-up off the phone and into the PC...
How would i go about completly removing nandroid as i no longer need it?
Thanks,
The probable reason you cannot install the htc offical ota update is because you have custom recovery/bootloader.
If you want to install the ota, you need to revert back to the stock recovery.
2 ways to do this.
Either flash a RUU
or
If you made a backup of your recovery, (When you flashed a custom recovery using flashrec, you should have made a backup and it can be found in your sd card as recovery-backup.img) use flashrec and type in the path to recovery-backup.img.
Do note that if you install 2.1 official from htc, you will not be able to root until someone finds a way to root it.
Custom ROM =
I don't have a solution but this is why I stayed away from custom ROMs.
I apologize in advance if I have missed a solution to my problem in the forums.
My phone was rooted prior to using Kies Mini to update my Vibrant.
After I updated my phone using Kies Mini I noticed that I could not use Titanium Backup. I then booted the phone into recovery mode and selected reinstall packages. The update.zip was placed in the root directory. I received an error message that stated the file could not be used because it was not signed.
I did some research & found that I needed to install /use 3e recovery update. After installing 3e recovery update, reinstall packages completed without any error messages. I then tried to run Titanium BackUp & BusyBox Installer and received a message that stated the program could not be run because the phone was not rooted.

just odin back to stock 2.1 and then root from 2.1 as its easier to root with 2.1 then 2.2. Use the update package to root, reinstall packages twice then recovery will turn from blue to green. The eclair guide to root

I prefer this method also. If you want options, check my noob root guide, signature... Xda app may not show it.
Thanks for the info.....
Thanks for the information. I'll give it a try this weekend hopefully.
Thanks for the help guys
I followed the steps provided & they did get my phone back to 2.1. I then rooted my phone & ran the Kies mini update. This updated my phone to 2.2, but removed root privileges.
I then ran the 3e recovery installer. This allowed me to reinstall the packages using the update.zip. I booted into recovery mode & ran "reinstall packages" two times. I then ran BusyBox installer and Titanium Back Up and other programs. They were all granted root access.
If I had booted into recovery mode one more time at the start I would have noticed the phone had been rooted.
Thanks to movieaddict and s15274n for informing me on how to flash the phone using Odin. This information will come in handy when I decide to flash a custom ROM.
I've been messing around with my x10a and I can't seem to flash any ROMs in xRecovery.
I've been trying to flash Wolfbreak's ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266080) but xRecovery keeps giving me an error saying that it can't update the script or something and that it was changed in Android 1.5.
I searched around and people said to use a lower version of xRecovery, but I installed the recovery through flashtool and it is still not working.
Another problem I've encountered is that data doesn't work anymore for my phone. No clue why.
Here are the steps on what I did.
1. Downloaded Flashtool
2. Rooted and installed xRecovery.
3. Unlocked bootloader
4. Flashed "X10a_3.0.1.G.0.75_AMERICA-US GENERIC 1233-8200.zip " for x10a through Flashtool.
5. Flashed Doom Kernel v06-1113 [medium OVERCLOCK VERSION] through Flashtool
6. Flashed Doom Kernel x10_gb_DooMKernel-v06-1113_wifi modules through xRecovery (worked)
Help is very appreciated! I've installed custom ROM's on my htc, motorola, and tablets but this phone is extremely weird.
Try ref lashing the kernel

Yeah, I tried flashing it with CWM and I've been getting the same error about not able to update script
Edit: Data's working now but it keeps cutting in and out. Phone keeps popping out with a notification saying that download settings didn't save. Any ideas?
The error i'm getting in recovery is : amend scripting(update-script) is no longer supported. amend scripting was deprecated by google in Android 1.5. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockworkmod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Just got brand new Streak 5 from dell.
It came with android 1.6.
I tried updating to 2.2.2 using dell update(website) but failed.
I tried updating straight to 2.3.3 (407 rom)
using different recoverys but failed.
tried original recovery, 350, 360, etc
I even tried installing CM and streakmod but get stock at after update from sd(black screen).
I've been trying and searching for answer for almost 5 hours.
So I'm guessing recovery and pkg file needs to match to update correctly
but can not find match(black screen)
Fastboot works fine on my computer.
Just tried 407 recovery file(region 14) with 407 pkg file and still getting black screen after update from sd

i get the same problem whenever i try to install .pkg. you just download the update.zip file from the below link provided by the manni. install the recovery of update 406 then flash the update.zip you downloaded, it should work.

Hey everyone.
I recently used Odin to flash my phone back to complete stock. After that I flashed it to an ICS rom. But I still have the KA7 modem that's stock.
When I tried to flash the KB5 modem through recovery mode, I get the following error:
"Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the Clockworkmod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Installation aborted."
Also, on a random note: after flashing the ICS rom, I installed Titinaium pro and tried to batch restore my apps. Titanium works through all the apps the says it finished restoring but nothing shows up in the apps drawer.
Thoughts? Any help is appreciated.
here you have a link with ICS flashable modems from scrizz http://www.mediafire.com/?9tjt5it4rjjd6. Choose the one you need and flash.
That worked perfectly! Thank you!
