I currently have flashed the worldwide 2.1 on my x10 because I am tired of waiting for Rogers to update it. I know I have to flash it back in a few months to get new updates as SEUS wont work with the flash I currently have. If I use the backup and restore feature in 2.1 what happens when I go back to 1.6 to get the new update? Do I just not restore it until I reflash to 2.1?
Sorry if this is confusing.

This is rather confusing...
But, if you are using the SE Backup Restore app, then you should be fine in any case,
it works for both 1.6 and 2.1.

Rooted my moms eris and want to update it to the latest ota update not worried about root allthough a rooted oced ota would be nice is there a rom out there like this??
Kinda need it to be stable since its my moms phone so i figure just going to the latest ota would be the best bet.
FYI
i tried to just update via the phone but kept getting settings force close errors...
if you are rooted any rom here is 2.1 or higher, just download a rom and your set, dont worry about ota...
fyi plainjane 2.1 is proably your best bet if your wanting to keep that 2.1 stock feel,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685581
To get to the OTA
Flash the latest PB00IMG.zip leaked version 3 through the bootloader, let the phone boot up as normal sign in to google whatever. When your done you will get the OTA and it will run successfully, I just did it today because I had to unroot and I'm actually leaving now to bring my phone back to Verizon for Trackball problems, again..... You can then reroot if you want and you will be on the new latest radio etc...
T2Noob released a Stock rom with Root and the ability to Overclock with the Newest OTA about a month back, check it out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=718092
I wild even try the cyborg evolution rom since its based off the latest 2.1 ruu.
Just take a look at the ROMs that are available and see what they are bad on.

Hello everyone I'm new here at XDA.
Last monday I bought my Xperia x10 and I came here and learned a little bit about
hackig etc.
At the moment I know how to Install root, busybox, xRecovery, JIT and Dualtouch to my 2.1 phone. Learned these things today.
I found a friendy guide on this forum that shows how to install 2.2 from Froyo.
Friendy Guide
I would really like to install it, but I have no idead how to make my phone back to 2.1 If I install 2.2 Froyo Beta2.
To revert back to 2.1 just update it with SEUS (sonyericsson official update software). I have done it
true. all you need is an official update with seus
Thank you guys
Just 1 question before updating, I installed xRecovery on 2.1 now, if update to 2.2 Froyo
xRecovery is still there?
Oh and is there a root already for 2.2 Froyo?

Make a backup with Xrecovery, so you can get back to where you were easily.
There was a post in How To 2.2 that had a bunch of steps to follow after install, it has been stable for me for days after that. Only a minor problem with Wi-Fi.

Yeah thats what it does but eventually it will boot
Thanks guys, I'll use now this How to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908791
edit; keeps crashing and rebooting after unlocking the screen. -.-
I have no problem with using the flashtool, downloading the sin file, etc. But the step that says DO NOT let it boot and immediately go into xrecovery is what worries me. I love trying all the new ROMs, but am still always go back to a custom 2.1 because of the cam/videocam, plus no stereo bluetooth dropouts.
My question is, after I do this to update the baseband and flash 2.2 Beta 4 via xrecovery. Can I go back to my old custom 2.1 with older baseband via xrecovery and then switch back and forth via xrecovery afterward? I just don't feel like flashing the entire firmware, rooting, adding JIT v2, then removing all of the SE apps AGAIN for like the 10th time.
u can install any rom on .435 firmware..
u cant install beta 4 on any lower firmware(.24,etc)..
so update to .435 and stay..
happy flashing

Im not entirely sure thats true because it seemed that those with the newer baseband seemed to be having issues with other roms prior to z's beta 4... can someone confirm?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
its mentioned clearly in z's post about using the latest base band. as for Steve's recommendation of not letting it boot, i guess i must have missed it when i upgraded the base band while on 2.1 customised, but the only worst thing that happened was i didn't got any signal on my phone, everything else worked fine, it didn't mattered coz i was to install free x10 v4. and its a fine job done by z. the ROM is great. add green glow theme on it, and nothing's like it.
about xrecovery backup able to change your base band back with restore, i haven't tried it myself, i guess xrecovery devs will be the best guys to check if you're not sure.

well apparently I got a notification for a update on my phone :/
build number I have at the moment: 2.0.2.A.0.24 (the first dual-touch kernel i believe?)
Baseband: 2.0.49...
could this update be the actual global generic .435 update?
I havent tried to update yet, as im using the Eternity 2.1 and it's not for the current build number :/
could it really have been that slow for me to get the .435 update around to me? xD
it's a bit strange, as I didn't think it was possible when you flash to a different build, to recieve the updates anymore? Or is this a update for Japan as i think that where the Dual-Touch kernal came from?
and another question...
is it safe to run this update or is SE gonna brick my phone with this? xD
Obviously since Eternity is nothing more but a very-very-very customized 2.1 ROM which relies on Stock Firmware it's only logical to me that it will notify you for new updates!
Of course if you update you will go back to Sony-crap UI and applications and stuff so don't do it!

mr_element.

No problem
Or you could just flash to 2.1 .435 and root it from flashtool 2.6. The new ROM is actually better and smoother, but it your choice
Yesterday i Got the same message.....Update available
Build No : 2.0.2.A.0.24
But after updating there is no change in build no...
It is same as before....Only thing is it re flashed...
.435 is the newest FW to my knowledge and Eternity is still running on the old firmware .24
The update is probably for the upgraded FW or just a random push for an update to some bug, who knows lol. I do know that jst about any time you update through SE you unroot your phone and more then likely will reinstall SE's ****ty UI.
I flashed the .435 FW and run Blue Sparks V5 wich is built on the .435 FW and it works great.
found a few semi-related threads in other forums but i want x10 users advice.
im in canada on rogers network and i updated my phone to one of wolfbreaks first gingerbreads. works well but i want the rogers specific firmware and they have apparently released it.
SO .. i have flashed 2.1.71 and the new kernel which i think will screw me up if i try to just plug in pc companion or seus, so, i want to restore my backup from 2.1 (i kept a stock optimized one just in case i ever f**d my phone up) ... will restoring this backup put my baseband and kernel back? or do i have to flash them seperatly?
what should i do?

Firstly using the new baseband and kernel would not screw you over when you are using SEUS to downgrade.
And I would recommend you to just stay on Wolf's rom, stock(untweaked) roms would give you performance that is nowhere near customised roms.
