[Q] Install FreeX10 Froyo 2.2 ROM and Back to 2.1 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone I'm new here at XDA.
Last monday I bought my Xperia x10 and I came here and learned a little bit about
hackig etc.
At the moment I know how to Install root, busybox, xRecovery, JIT and Dualtouch to my 2.1 phone. Learned these things today.
I found a friendy guide on this forum that shows how to install 2.2 from Froyo.
Friendy Guide
I would really like to install it, but I have no idead how to make my phone back to 2.1 If I install 2.2 Froyo Beta2.

To revert back to 2.1 just update it with SEUS (sonyericsson official update software). I have done it

true. all you need is an official update with seus

Thank you guys
Just 1 question before updating, I installed xRecovery on 2.1 now, if update to 2.2 Froyo
xRecovery is still there?
Oh and is there a root already for 2.2 Froyo?

Make a backup with Xrecovery, so you can get back to where you were easily.
There was a post in How To 2.2 that had a bunch of steps to follow after install, it has been stable for me for days after that. Only a minor problem with Wi-Fi.

1.6 vs 2.1 backup

I currently have flashed the worldwide 2.1 on my x10 because I am tired of waiting for Rogers to update it. I know I have to flash it back in a few months to get new updates as SEUS wont work with the flash I currently have. If I use the backup and restore feature in 2.1 what happens when I go back to 1.6 to get the new update? Do I just not restore it until I reflash to 2.1?
Sorry if this is confusing.

This is rather confusing...
But, if you are using the SE Backup Restore app, then you should be fine in any case,
it works for both 1.6 and 2.1.

[Q] Steve.Adams baseband update

I have no problem with using the flashtool, downloading the sin file, etc. But the step that says DO NOT let it boot and immediately go into xrecovery is what worries me. I love trying all the new ROMs, but am still always go back to a custom 2.1 because of the cam/videocam, plus no stereo bluetooth dropouts.
My question is, after I do this to update the baseband and flash 2.2 Beta 4 via xrecovery. Can I go back to my old custom 2.1 with older baseband via xrecovery and then switch back and forth via xrecovery afterward? I just don't feel like flashing the entire firmware, rooting, adding JIT v2, then removing all of the SE apps AGAIN for like the 10th time.
u can install any rom on .435 firmware..
u cant install beta 4 on any lower firmware(.24,etc)..
so update to .435 and stay..
happy flashing

Im not entirely sure thats true because it seemed that those with the newer baseband seemed to be having issues with other roms prior to z's beta 4... can someone confirm?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
its mentioned clearly in z's post about using the latest base band. as for Steve's recommendation of not letting it boot, i guess i must have missed it when i upgraded the base band while on 2.1 customised, but the only worst thing that happened was i didn't got any signal on my phone, everything else worked fine, it didn't mattered coz i was to install free x10 v4. and its a fine job done by z. the ROM is great. add green glow theme on it, and nothing's like it.
about xrecovery backup able to change your base band back with restore, i haven't tried it myself, i guess xrecovery devs will be the best guys to check if you're not sure.

[Q] Infinite loop with TripNRaver rom (can't post on dev forum)

Hi, and to begin with sorry I can't post in dev section, no enough messages yet...
So my X10 failed since I tried another rom. Ok, so I went back to X10 2.1 official, then I rooted, installed busbox, xRecovery...
Well, let's try a new rom. I chose the TripNRaver Arc rom 2.3 gingerbread. Then I flashed the .49 baseband as asked in his topic, however I have infinite loop reboot. But it boots to PIN number asked, I see the phone find the network, so I think baseband is not the problem... But I'm not pro.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Sorry, my English is not perfect since I'm french.
Thank you

It should crash a few times.
But if it continues to do that you may have the same problem i have.
My x10i won't run that rom at all.
Can you try bb 52?
Try to crash system server a few times. If that's not working you should reflash stock firmware with flashtool, reroot, xrec and so on. Then reflash bb49 and reinstall the Rom. Good Luck

as a very beginner in android I´m not sure that my answer is really what you are asking,
first I updated my original Froyo to Olleh stock rom via streakmode, as the thread in this forum,....after I updated to DSC 2.0 directly over Olleh gingerbread, without passing by DSC 1.0
It worked great, compared to stock rom wich is a potato,.... but now I´ve losed my paradise :crying::crying::crying::crying:
anyway thanks a lot to nop, I will reinstall 2.0, is a very very very good ROM:laugh::laugh::laugh:
josinho00, you entered recovery when you was flashing update.
Which recovery was that?

I´ll try the new patch this afternoon
yesterday nigth I reflashed v 2.0 and after 2.0.1, it became to normal .... wifi was all rigtht and DSC apps also were allright.
but "battery counter" did not work properly (it was full charged and showed just 1%) and some apps like "ES file explorer" did not work with root privilegies, I reflashed superuser zip, and after every thing including battery counter were fixed"""
You should always flash updates on full charge, that'll get rid of 1% problem.

Yes.
I've tried to update DSC 1.7 to 2.0 than 2.2, everything is ok.
After flashing updDSCv2.2-PDroid.zip, system hangs on boot animation.
Using nandroid back to 2.2(no PDroid), system is no problem.
How to fix it? Thanks!
Have you flashed PDroid for 2.0 first?
I understand that's not clear, but you should flash 2.0, then 2.0's Pdroid, then 2.2 with PDroid.

Problem solved. Thank you, n0p !
Steps for DSC 2.2 with PDroid
1) Flash DSCv2.0-rel.zip
2) Flash PDroid-v1.31-DSCv2.0.zip
3) Flash updDSCv2.2-PDroid.zip
4) Wipe cache partition, dalvik, fix permissions
5) Reboot
continuing to reboot...
Recently, my phone has been restarted many times. Trying to solve it by reflashing DSC 2.3, but it remains. I flashed the baseband back to 407, it works!
Now it works like a charm but loudly...

You don't really need a good computer to flash back to stock, just a USB cable. The easiest way is to flash back to stock JFD 2.1 with Odin and then root your phone with update.zip B, reboot to recovery and reinstall packages twice then flash the ROM (twice also if going to JB 4.2). Here is a link for both flashing to stock and rooting with update.zip B http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 . If you decide to stay on 2.2 you will have to use the modified 3e recovery zip, I have never done this so can't really explain how to do it, here is the link though http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423.

Try update.zip A from the first link I provided, it should root your phone. Then you can use the 3e method. I've never had to do this myself so sorry I don't have a straight answer for you.

Yes I rooted my phone with Update.zip B, it doesn't actually root but it gives you CWM and you can flash a custom ROM, they all come pre rooted. You should really flash back to stock if possible, it's very easy from stock 2.1. I'll do some research and see what I can come up with but stock 2.2 has a bunch of issues with rooting and installing CWM, this is why everyone recommends flashing to stock 2.1 (JFD)
Edit - it appears superoneclick 2.3.1 works for some people on stock Froyo (2.2). Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146645 If you get it rooted on stock 2.2 you will still have to do the 3e recovery step FYI

hey sorry for the late reply I just used samsungs skies to upgrade mine to froyo just put your phone in kies mode then plug it in run the updater and it should work fine and I got the root to work thanks for the help only problem I got now is making it boot into clockworks recovery so I can flash my room im still working on that ill post back when I can get it to work
Thanks for the reply. Sad news. I used Kies Mini to update and everything went fine until the reboot. well it didnt reboot, my phone is officially bricked. I bought a JIG to see if it would help wake it in Download but it does not. I have read that you can open the phone and do some soldering to get the phone back but it seems like too much for this phone. If you have any suggestions that would be fantastic.. Thanks again for your reply.
