Hi,
I just tried to see if my phone is locked by entering the service menu using *#*#4636#*#* (i tried the menu back back... method to no avail) but i dont have the simlock menu item in there, i only have phone info (which doesnt help), batt info, batt history and usage stats. Am at a bit of a loss as to what this means, i only want to check the network lock . Any ideas?
Cheers
Chris
Edit: by the way im using a rooted 2.1 x10i
Trying another simcard would be the easiest way, and change the menu button for the home button to get the service menu.
Thanks but i havent got one, is there no other way?
doh, seems its just me being a bit thick (again), its been a long day
i have managed to find my simlock info, its:
Network 5
Network subset 5
Service Provider 5
Corporate 5
Sim 0
Could someone iterpret this for me please?
cheers
chris
It's unlocked.
Great, thanks for your help

Hi there, I am wondering if it is possible for the XDA to work in Australia. I have the upgraded rom from Xda devellopers and have removed the sim lock, but it dosen't seem to pick up the Aus networks.
Any help would be great
What for device are you using? PW10A or PW10B?
Maybe it's a problem with the GSM-networks. PW10A is for 900/1800MHz and PW10B for 900/1900
Have you tried to search manual for any available services?
Stefan
How do I find out the PW10a or b info.... The other version info is as follows
ROM Version; 3.17.03 ENG
Radio Version; 4.21.00
Protocol Version ; 32s54
Sorry, found it....PW10A1
I am guessing no one has any help or info about this. what a wasted purchase.
The XDA/XDA II/XDA III (IIs) do work in Australia.
Where is your XDA from, country? What network are you trying to connect too down here?
I have been told it is from the UK. I purchased it 3rd hand so I can only go by what the previous owner has told me.
In the auto config screen, I get the options for 02 network from UK, Ireland, De and a few others.
I am wanting to connect it to an Optus network preferrably, but any would do.
I have tried Optus (plan and prepaid) and telstra plan, but no signal shows up.
Just clarifying, you have tried Optus and Telstra phone services or data services?
You verified the SIM's worked in another phone?
The sims are able to be swapped into various phones, I have a panasonic gd50, a nokia 7250 and a motorola v600, and an ericson (can't remember what model) and they all work in each other.
The sims are set up as phone service, ie: normal mobile usage, I have even tried an optus prepaid in it.
I am only wanting to use it for the phone service, gprs and net usage is not of interest as yet.
Howdy, I have the same model and it works fine on Telstra. I originally had problems with SIM lock and GID lock, but after upgrading to 2003 from lumpistefans kitchen I've had no problems with it! Good reception and minimal drop out. It's not a waste of money. The ROM i used was the O2 one and did not use the auto config, it finds it for itself and aknowledges the telstra network fine. If you go to an Optus shop they should be able to help, they also have pretty good phone help and should be able to talk you through the settings,
Good luck!
Peace,
Robert
Thanks Ryap. I am thinking that it should automatically find the network tho......is this not the case
I know on XDA II and PDA2K you can select the network or set it to Automatic. Might want to check this setting.
SETTINGS > PERSONAL TAB > PHONE > NETWORK TAB

I think you are confusing the autoconfig of the device with the network setup for the phone.
You can cancel the autoconfig that appears at the end of a hard reset. This just gives you some quick settings for the GPRS and MMS networks - you can add these later after talking to Optus.
Once the SIM is in, you need to make sure the phone is on by switching OFF flight mode. This kicks the phone in. Then if Optus is not picked up as your default network you just go into Settings>Phone>Network and then use the Find Network button and then the Set Networks button. After that you can check the Automatic Network selection button to make the settings stay.

Hi all, thanks for the support so far,
As of now, I can't get any network at all....still.
when i insert the sim and enable the phone it says serching, but thats about it.
I have no idea where to find the flight mode, and when I click on the phone in the settings screen, nothing happens.
I don't get any carrier name or logo come up and appear.
Cheers
Michael
On XDA II (don't have XDA) when the phone senses a service it puts four vetical bars next to the speaker/volume icon at the top of the screen. If you tap the bars it should bring up a pop-up, this is where there should be a line (link) to click on that says "Turn off flight mode". I am not sure if this is part of the original XDA though.
When you clicked on the PHONE icon under SETTINGS it didn't do anything?
At the top bar, next to the speeker, I have a tree type logo and when i tap it it says searching. When i open the phone and then click options, it freezes for about 5 maybe 7 mins and then the settings screen opens, from there it freezes and i can't select anything
Hi all.
I am greatful for you help and support up till now.
I have managed to fixmy problem.
When putting the xda devellopers rom on the pda, ther eis an option calledGSM Band in the programs list.
Well turns out it was set to 900, so i changed it to 900/1800 and rebooted the xda.
WELL HEY PRESTO, IT FOUND THE OPTUS NETWORK
So all is good and all works.
As I mentioned before I am greatful for all the support and thankyou to all who racked their brains over this.
Hi to everyone,
it happened something strange to me since I first switched on my SmartFlip:
while being in my country and using a local operator SIM, as soon as I switched on my phone, the ROAMING icon appeared and I was not able to let it go (it is present even while using GPRS connection as a G and a filled triangle).
Yesterday I had to move to another city (our Capital City, ROME) and when I switched it on again after the flight, the roaming icon was gone, even during GPRS connection.
I thought I somehow solved my problem, but after switching it on again after the flight back, it appeared again and is still present.
I've contacted my operator, but they say it has to be something within the phone (and I believe them as I've used that SIM with many other HTC phones with no problem at all).
A friend of mine which has the SmartFlip too but a different operator (TIM), has no problem at all.
Does anyone reports the same problem, or ever faced such a behaviour ?
Thank you for your help.
Ciao
ROAMING: SOLUTION FOUND (but not solved !!!)
Hi to everyone,
I don't know yet WHY this happens to me (and not to other people, for instance...), but...
Well, I reported my phone always getting to "ROAMING" while it was not.
I've found that IF I place in the phone one of my two SIMs (I have two with the same phone number, provided by my phone operator VODAFONE ITALY, which gives this as a service) and the SIM is PIN LOCKED, then, after unlocking it, the phone reports being in ROAMING.
If I just remove the PIN LOCK from the SIM, then the ROAMING ICON is not appearing anymore.
I have to switch the phone off and on again to see the results, but till now (more than 10 tries), I haven't failed one.
I've asked some friends of mine with other operator's SIMs to try the same, but they do not report the same behaviour.
Is there anyone else reporting this ? And with which operator ?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards.
I found this nice little registry tweak to remove the roaming icon (triangle) on HowardForums.
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableRoamingIndicator
Set 1 to disable the triangle
Set 0 to enable the triangle
I now have a square E or G icon instead
same problem
hi mix,
i have the same problem. this behaviour happens only with sims of vodafone (128), with old ones (64) no.
this happen also with qtek 8310 with the same sim vodafone 128
Hi Bostik,
I've finally found (some time ago anyway...) that this is due to the fact there is the PIN code activated on phone startup...
If you remove PIN code lock on phone startup, then the ROMAING triangle disappears...
I believe this is a O.S. fault, not within the phone itself...
Should be checked with other machines with WM5 PHONE on (but may differ due to OS different builds...).
I decided to risk removing my PIN code... (I can recognise my phone being lost within minutes usually and I can then block SIM and phone very quickly).
It's annoying, but this is our life... ;-)
Happy new year.
This occurs when swithing from 900 to 1800 networks of the same operateor, its a bug

Thanks Mate!!!!
Been driving T-Mobile crazy about this Roaming Icon and its gone. Worked for my T-Mobile SDAII aka HTC Tornado and following this simple instruction( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1717878&postcount=3 ) now I don't get the Roaming Warning and Outlook works fine. )

I tried applying this trick to my Kaiser. My provider (Telfort) got bought by another (KPN) so now all Telfort users "roam" on the KPN network. Anybody know any other tricks I could try to get rid of the roaming triangle icon? Thanks so much!!
steep learning curve, android!
Bought a 2nd hand hero (tmobile). Unlocked it with http://www.unlock-now.com and put my O2 sim card in... and nothing.
Flashed it with various different ROMs but each time I get no service; when I go to \mobile network settings\network settings\search networks I can see O2-UK but when I select it I get "your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" (although it works in my Touch 3G).
BUGGER! have looked everywhere, but for the life of me I can't find a fix for this.
Would really appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks. Merry Christmas!
I did the same thing but i couldn't get access to the internet and i had to enter the APN settings manually (go into mobile network settings and then APN) so give that a try. and do you receive any bars (can you make calls/texts)?
hmm to do mine what i did was get the code from the unlock site,
put in a sim card that wasnt t-mobile turned it on and entered the code when the option appeared. it just worked tbh.
Hello Everyone,
I have seen that an unlocked Streak should work on Bell in Canada. My current phone is an HTC Touch (CDMA) and I have acquired a Bell SIM card for my Streak. After inserting it into the phone (Twice - once in store and once at home through online site) it finds Bell under Networks, but fails to connect stating the following:
Unable to connect to the network at this time. Please try again later.
Here are the details of the Unlocked UMTS Streak I have originally from Dell.com:
1 225-0059 Streak UMTS Base
1 318-0145 Carbon,Streak
1 317-1902 16GB SD Memory Card
1 331-0805 Black Barcode label,16GB,UMTS,No SIM, Online,Unlocked,Streak
1 331-0789 Dell Streak Documentation & Manual, Unlocked
1 926-0563 Advanced Exchange Limited Warranty Initial Year
...
Please let me know what I need to change/do to get this activated. I really want to have this up and running and eventually add a HSPA/3G data plan.
Is it any settings that need to change or do I have the wrong hardware? Let me know if further information/clarification is required.
Additionally, from my understanding, the first SIM that was activated in-store(and correspondingly deactivated) was wasted since I had to switch back to my HTC Touch to have a working phone. Is this a valid assumption?
Thanks and I really hope someone can save me. I did not purchase this solely for usage as a tablet. Lastly, in store when the representative tried my serial/IMEI it stated that the phone should in fact work.
Thanks,
Jazz
It should work but maybe try this:
In the dialer type *#*#307#*#* to Enable engineering apps in launcher
Then go to EMList in you app list. In EMList choose network settings, try and see if all of your networks are enabled. See if that works, then maybe check your APN settings as well as make sure the phone is set to WCDMA only. Rogers and Bell share a lot of the same frequencies. Obviously the unlock on your phone is good because it wouldn't let you use a SIM otherwise.
The MyTouch didn't have a CDMA version, just a WCDMA version I think so the frequencies should be fine. Maybe try doing a factory reset might help too.
Hello,
Thanks for rapid response
I tried the dialer thing provided and it says ensure correct Passport is on the SD card. Not sure how to proceed there?
EMlist does not come up, however, SIM Toolkit looks new?
APN settings are blank and I set the Streak to WCDMA only.
I was not sure what you meant by MyTouch. My previous model was an HTC Touch.
I think if there are no more options, I may factory reset?
Please let me know and thanks for your help!
Hello
After performing a simple reset (on/off) the device works and is now stating that it is on the Bell network. Thanks again for all of your help! I am very excited about this.
Great! So yours is working. I just bought my Dell Streak last night, I have the exact same problem you had, except, rebooting the phone has not worked. I've even purchased an unlock code, and unlocked my phone again, still doesnt work! What do I do, please, someone help me.. -.-
Hi!
I got an Atrix a week ago and i just unlocked it (I'm dutch and using the phone in the Netherlands). Everything worked exept for the 3G/HSDPA connection. I tried multiple APNs, but nothing helped.
I opened the info menu with *#*#4636#*#* and saw there was an unknown data error. Then I looked at the menu items and selected 'select radio band'. This only showed USA band and I accidentally tapped it. Now my phone can't find any network provider anymore.
I already did a factory reset, but did didn't solve the problem. How can I solve this?
Thanks!
hi
i've also made similir thing. no i am not able use phone. have you found any solution?
and also there is another thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992635
just go into the network selection screen on settings (under wireless...). i keep hitting "usa bands" every time to actually get a 3g connection when my phone refuses to get it by itself since the signal is weaker than 2g.
there's also a "turn radio off" on the info screen that may help you.
Same problem ... any solution ?
------------
update: flshing back solve the problem
This is a super old forum, but I thought I'd explain how to fix this just in case someone needs it. Go to dialer and type in *#*#INFO#*#* then go to phone information and hit the menu button. Then go to select radio band and choose the right one.
EDIT. I guess I didn't read the first post correctly. Didn't realize USA was the only option for him.
