[Q] Root?? IDK?

I am brand new so I apologize for just jumping in here. My problem is I have tried many root methods and have yet to get root or close to it.
Thunderbolt
My firmware is 1.03.0000
radio is 1.15.00.0128w3
any help would be much appreciated!!
If you use the method in jcase's thread, you simply copy+paste commands into the adb window

Sounds like you used the 3 click method. If that's how you want to do it I think you need to start at step 2.
You should do it through adb though since it sounds like you're a rooting rookie. It'll help in the long run.

JCase's method is a sticky in the development section btw.

Rooting Xperia Neo V

Hi guys I just got my Neo V today, just left x8
I tried rooting my Neo V, using DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su
but when i run it, it says everything is completed but then, there is no superuser!
I dont want to install recovery on my phone now, so i dont wanna try the recovery method.
Do you guys know any other easy way to root or can i use superoneclick? has anybody tried it?
EDIT: I GOT .62 FIRMWARE SO IT MEANS I CANT ROOT IT RIGHT OR CAN I?
Plz answer. thanks.
plz plz any1?
you dont actually "see" superuser in the application drawer. it is there and will kick in when needed. try some applciation that requires superuser permissions and you will see (proxydroid for example).

Depends which build of Android is on your phone - some can be directly rooted using Doomlord's method, others demand that you flash a rootable kernel, root it and then reflash the latest kernel.
If your build is not directly rootable you'll need to install flashtools (and any other stuff required to make flashtools work), download a rootable kernel and download the kernel for the build you are currently using.
If you're handy with command line stuff you can do all of this using the android debugging bridge (ADB) instead of flashtools.
For safety's sake you should probably have a copy of your latest build in the ftf format - so you can go back to stock at any time.
Similarly, when I rooted there was a PC program called SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) - might be called SUS now that they've dropped Ericsson I guess. Anyway if you have soft bricked your phone SUS or SUES, can revert it to a stock build for you really easily if you feel a bit overwhelmed by any of the above.
If you're not too fussed about your warranty AND you're allowed to unlock your bootloader - just do that instead - makes changing roms a lot less of a hassle AND it allows you to install custom kernels.
It's all very straightforward - just do your research (google "root xperia ray build number" and you'll get thorough instructions. If you get stuck at a specific point, that's the time to start asking questions.

Is there a way to do this without installing a kernel that allows system write? Googling just shows results of people using ElementalX kernel, but I'd really rather not
edit: this is the way to do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230341
