don't know if this is a double so it can be deleted / moved or whatever.
I just downloaded lcd density from the market and set it to 180 ( 240 being the default ) giving a higher resoluton to the screen. my device appears to be running much much faster its really really fast despite a lot of bulky apps and full sd card. also after running a benchmark I've noticed I'm getting upto 36/37 fps is there any danger of me doing some damage to my phone / display if I keep my screen to this resoluton. it kinda feels like this is it should be running. . . or am I just trippin and its all a placebo can someone else check this

So I was scrolling through my phones statistics when I noticed that the screen refresh rate was at .1hz which got me a little puzzled seeing as it's supposed to be at 60hz. I was wondering what effect this has on my phone exactly and if there was a way to get it back to 60hz. Also I'm using the gb fps uncap if that helps
This is a stupid answer, but if it works fine, I'm sure it's just a glitch, and it's actually 30-60Hz.
You don't notice .1 Hz do you...would be kind of unusable I think...
I just noticed that under heavy use such as decoding mkv the phone can get a bit hot. Especially in the upper part of the display under the samsung logo.
Anyone else experience this?

My SGS2 gets fairly hot when the CPU is busy on the backside right below the Camera, which is pretty much in the same place, just on the backside instead of frontside.
I'd say its normal behavior. I've noticed it is especially bad with applications or games, that use a lot of CPU cycles.
Being as powerful as it is, i wouldn't be surprised if the SGS2 uses up more power when the CPU is active then older phones. Power usage for doing the same amount of work should be lower then older phones. However some applications don't limit their CPU usage, and therefore you may end up using more power (phone getting hotter) then you would on older phones.
Well it is after all one of the thinnest and most powerful smartphones on the market.
Power = Heat
Thin = Little cooling space = Heat
Heat + Heat = Much heat
No way it's overheating though. I think that would be possible if you overclocked it but I'm fairly sure they've tested it for overheating with stock frequencies and voltages. If you read the manual it probably says that you're not supposed to use it for long periods of time in direct sunlight to prevent overheating, just like it says in almost every phone manual. At least iPhone shuts itself down if it gets too hot and I wouldn't be surprised if modern Android phones did that too.
Hi, I'm no expert, but 70°C is quite a lot, isn't it?
And I was only browsing market...

You said it yourself, "Heavy use", the S2 is just a handset after all, not PC with liquid cooling or something.
The CPU produces a lot of heat, it's a powerful CPU, the device is thin, so:
powerful hot CPU + thin choking case + long time heavy use + your warm hands all over the device playing games and surfing the web etc = very hot device.
Try maybe to change the kernel !
Not sure if it's normal but once my phone went up to 53 degrees c while charging. I unplugged it and waited, it went back to charging at 46 degrees c.

I seriously think that the transformer prime has a software fps limiter. Such as Sync to vblank or sync to refresh rate. <-- they are the same thing... because on the prime Every game/benchmark I get exactly 60 fps. This is the normal refresh rate of most monitors/screens. This is also normal for vblank to max out and stabilize at 60 fps. So my question is how do we turn it off. I have seen some settings in build.prop for qualcomm devices but nothing for the tegra 3. Anyone have any ideas on how to un-limit the GPU?
bump. interesting topic, ill stay tuned to see how this turns out.

I would not doubt it if it was limited. There is no sense in going any higher than 60 fps on a 60hz display. Also good for saving battery and performance.

true but if we unlimit it then we can brag about having more fps than the apple ipad 3
Well, it would change any benchmark scores based on the graphics grunt.
It could decrease the gap between Tegra 3 and others, but would be a waste of battery in everyday use.
I don't think we could uncap it tbh, the display drivers are closed source blobs, IIRC.
Anyone used IP-Webcam before? Preferably if you were a SGS1 or 2 user.
Can you try IP-Webcam and give me an idea of the performance you get from it?

Pretty much set a resolution and at a smooth frame rate like 25fps, and see how well it can keep up.
On the SGS1:
Roughly 10fps on 320 x 240
SGS2
About 20fps on 320 x 240
I was wondering if there was a good improvement from using the SGS3?
Just downloaded it, but apparently you need to have a wireless network for it to work. I'll try to get you some statistics when I get back from work.
Anyone else tried it?

Here is the video i tried to take regarding the screen lag.
Its all real time , there is no , afaik any camera lag ( taken with sg3) , its pretty much how it looks . Also i have shown the FPS . You can see when i scroll slowly , the FPS drops to 20 or so making it jerky. if i do it fast , it reaches 50+ but not stable and not very responsive to my touch feedback either.
I have tried Bexus Kernel with OC GPU , still the same . Is there anyway to force the tablet to display at bare minimum of 30FPS ? I planned to read lot of PDF, but this jerkiness is giving me headache.
Can anyone help me ?
what rom are you running? no screen lag for me on a really old cm10 build. pretty much consistent framerate, though it is kinda slow
i think part of the problem here was B&N's choice of using a PowerVR SGX 540 GPU in this tablet. this particular GPU was also used in the entire original Samsung Galaxy S line, and is at this point 5-7 years old. not a particularly great GPU in my book. granted, we're not pushing a really high screen resolution (1024x600) but still, it's a really old GPU.
CM 11 Snapshot M5 i think. Using along with Bexus kernel.
I can lower the resolution if needed , all i want is a stable framerate display , ready to sacrifice some battery too.
I agree the tablet is kind of old , but i just want to use this as some secondary reading tablet. i have no use for it now.
Try turning off "Magnification Gestures". This has caused input lag for me before.
Go to Settings>Accessibility
its off only`
