[Q] HTC anyway to add more rows columns? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Is there anyway to add more rows preferably or row and colums to shortcuts in all tabs in htc sense without having to instal CHT or max sense or spb mobile shell etc?
Please help

Why not install CHT? The only thing that need to change is the shortcuts... I'd go for 1.7.1

default sense bar can also be used in cht...the additional cht softkey bar can be disabled...you need to know the power of cht..and only when you try it will you know,
anyways its your phone...so search for vovichek's cab, but some people have had problems on the new 3.14 rom

I want to try it, but want to keep origional htc sense bar look and feel just want more shorcuts within tabs, do i also need to instal cht editor to achieve this?
How do i keep sense as i know it as stock, i use chainfires turbo 3d it rocks just dont want to mess up my tabs, home screens and sense.
vovichek's cab has major issues when installed thats why i was wondering if this could be done without installing anything.
How would i achieve my goal using CHT then?

1. Install Cookie Home Tab (Either the new 2.0 or the previous 1.8 series).
Done. Sense bar you say? It's there. If you get a rom or build of CHT that doesn't have it enabled by default, then it's a piece of cake and go to step 2.
2. Install CHTEditor. Re-enable the slider bar.
Then if you're still not happy (you should be at this point but still):
3. Tweak CHT. You can get 4 icons, 5 icons, different sizes of icons, etc. You can do a lot with this powerful piece of software. Trust me.

Time for a CHT upgrade

I've been away for a while and just come back to this forum. I have CHT 1.7.1 running on vodafone 1.66 which does everything I want but the phone does slow down and lock-up occasionally (..now, in fact)
I know that it depends on what else you have installed but think it was all there before CHT with no problems. Would a CHT upgrade help in this area?
Thanks...

i think you might have been using the cht lock screen...... disable it and see...anyways, 1.8 and 1.8.5 were robust..with 2.0, its awesome- especially also with chtscheduler

Your right very powerful software tried it removed cookies slider tab thanks for telling me how, only problem now is when i connect to pc via cable there are no options pop up any more previously it gave me choices 1-sync 2- mass storage and 3- internet sharing how do i get this back?

go to settings/other/usb to pc/uncheck the box

How about posting some screens for various applications?
right away sir
Thanks for posting the screens.
I guess it's a personal thing, but I prefer to view the device in 128dpi, with wktask, with a 3D glassy top and bottom bar, with both date and time on the taskbar of every screen, just to list some of the main things I would tailor.
Hey, whatever appeal to you, enjoy your device
U can always customize the view and 128dpi can be installed
i'm confused with your screenshots.
are simply qvga, non?

I love changing the color of my theme every now and then. One of the quickest ways of to use tweaks2k2. It gives you the 3d glassy look. Depending on my mood, I like to switch between blue, green, black, etc. Be very careful though when you use tweak2k2. Don't let it trigger any soft reset(always use stylus into the hole method) or else you may be stuck on primary splash and you'll be forced to hard reset.
thanx for the info and warning. i do too. currently running 192dpi, snapvue, and snavue tsk on my rom. will probably go back to setup u see in dual screenies when i get realvga cooked back into rom im currently running.
Does this rom contain the latest Opera? That's the only reason I see to upgrade to this. Font size looks like it does when you change the screen settings to a smaller font on the 'screen' menu. I assume you can change the pink theme with the windows standard.
some clarrification
the opera version is build 8.65(2627)
the rom is overall very fast
the text resolution is vga like and we can get rid of the cuteiii pink colour.
the ap3 dual rom is superior in many aspects but this rom is good for all those who want a clean rom without any addons.
hey powell can u please post a lite addition of your touch dual rom it would be great
perhaps I also forgot to mention that this rom solves the micro drive issue in ameo.
Powell can u please give add ons seperately.
Leoni,
Why not try out this Opera and see if you like it better?

Ok, ive begun testing this ROM Eaglesteve and here are my observations thus far:
Opera is identical to the others, although a nice resolution mod has been done with the url bar, making it smaller and neater than the versions seen in other ROMS. there is no immediate reference to 'opera' within the application in that it is referred to as 'web n walk' in the start menu, and the homepage is www.t-mobilefavourites.co.uk. for those wishing to use t-mobile's tv service this functionality is now restored for wm6.
on the whole i feel that the download and render time with this version of Opera is the slowest i've seen. there is no flash support and this is NOT the latest Opera build (or anywhere near). this indicates that HTC have a limited deal with Opera which does not include the more recent version - no free upgrade then.
I found both browsers to be unusually slow, even after various tweaks.
T-mobile have removed Windows Live from this ROM.
They have included (the completely pointless) F-Secure Antivirus, which annoyingly pops up an installation window upon every soft reset.
The 'H'SDPA icon is not enables by default for some unknown reason. this is surely a step backwards from the old T-Mobile ROM.
t-mobile sounds are preset by default. they are horrendous.
some of the 'band' settings have been removed in line with what's available in western europe.
dialpad is a modified pink|grey, as is the comms screen.
there is a t-mobile home plugin similar to htc's, but with 'web n walk' last dialled, file explorer and SIM manager.
this ROM seems more sluggish than touch dual overall, and is missing a great deal of decent features that id gotten used to with Touch.
will try a hard reset with no installed t-mobile CABs and report back
Thanks for the quick feedback.
You mentioned that the address bar is smaller. This is interesting. Could you post a screen shot on that?

sorry eaglesteve i dont have the screenshot utility that comes with touch, otherwise id send you a screenshot.
update though: this ROM is an absolute dog. it's slooooow, web pages dont load up very fast and for the first time in ages im getting the "this page cannot be found" dialogue in p.i.e. on random occasions. ive also had opera randomly shut down on me twice.
can someone else try this ROM and tell me im not mistaken? the only apps ive installed are wktask, fingertouch and htc home
so far i can't believe t-mobile have unleashed a pile of crap like this on the public. its bad enough that they make their handsets look so rubbish.
one last set of points to t-mobile:
we DONT need antivirus. really.
we DONT need to be asked if we're sure we want to go online/sure we want to close the browser.
we dont like pink today screens and phones with pink bits on them
we DO want you to employ Pawel and the team to develop decent ROMs in future.
Is this ROM the standard WM6 ROM provided by T Mobile to work on the Ameo? The quality is very different from those provided by Dopod.
Just switched back to the Touch Dual ROM.
I encourage anyone Interested in it to avoid this ROM at all costs except for warranty purposes. Glitchy, slow, overbranded, RUBBISH.

lol nice.
to the poster asking about vanilla: i could remove everything except pk programs 3.0(task manager+regedit and screenshot app) and leave in tsk, welcomhead, and all the reg edits i have done BUT the available space on the device with or without dual will remain the same.
its not worth it.
use file explorer and go into windows/start menu/programs and removed whatever u dont use. it will clean up the program's folder and u can go ahead and do same with system folder.
it will look clean that way and if u decide u want to use a app that i cooked in you just add shorcut back in. also for battery/qwerty menu just go ahead and remove the shortcuts for those from windows/startup and those are gone.
switch to a different tsk like says windows mobile default and u look vanilla. for say the control panel apps just ignore or remove from windows folder.
Ur rom looks vanilla and it will have same space as a vanilla rom. also u can go ahead after the black tsk is displayed and soft reset device to not install extended rom stuff and reduce apps installed.
@leoni
T Mobile has put its customisations, so if u check opera, the proxy is enabled.
If u remove the proxy all work well.
Results are better, when one flashes only OS.nb converted to NBH and use, so u do not have any T Mobile Crap installed

This is a copy and paste from my blog on thoughts on this rom and 6.5.
http://www.blakemitchellweb.com/blog/?p=31
I use an HTC Touch Pro and recently installed a custom rom running Windows Mobile 6.5. This particular rom was made by Jakdillard and posted at XDA devs. I am not sure about too much of the information as to what parts are used from 6.5 and 6.1. First off I will say that I installed and let customization run first. This had TF3D install and I wanted to get more of a feel for sliding panels. When I disabled TF3D and reenabled Titanium (Thiis the name for sliding panels) it never launched. I thought that there may have been a problem so I did a clear storage. Installation went on again and I did a soft reset during customization. Upon doing this it started back like I had done a clear storage again. This time I let customization run again, did the disable of TF3D and reenabling of Titanium and once again nothing happened but after doing a soft reset titanium was up.
So the performance is pretty wretched. It lags a lot but it is usable. I was able to perform a phone call, get on the internet using the new version of IE, set up google sync in activesync and synced my calendar and contacts, installed and set up funambol for push email, installed amaze gps and was able to get a lock, use wifi, and browsed through pretty much everything. I installed Diamond Tweak and enable some of the tweaks that improve performance but did not see any improvement. When I had IE open my memory was at 85% and it dropped to 37% when I closed it so it is a bit of a memory hog.The new menus are pretty nice and do improve the finger friendliness of the ROM.I like the transparent softkeys and start bar visually, and I like the new honeycomb start menu, although I think it could have been more visually stimulating. Also, We are able to edit the icons that we use on the start bar like we could before and it does not do anything to mess up the new transparent start bar. I installed this cab by tsowen from ppcgeeks and it looks good.
Sliding panels seems pretty nice but there is also a but of a let down. Many people will prefer TF3D or one of the other plethora of shells that can be used on the today screen. Like many of the others shells and today plugins you can't use any other today plugins with this one. I like the look of the sliding panels but the let down comes from the lack of customization straight out of the box. If I could change it I would have sliding panels have each individual setting able to be disabled (i.e. I do not use text messaging because I use email. I would do away with the SMS panel.) Also it is missing some features that are getting integrated into other options. If sliding panels had the ability for developers to develop plugins to cover some of the other areas it would be phenomenal. It is missing some things like weather, rss, im, facebook, and stocks.
I am going to keep running this ROM for another day at least to get a little more familiar. Hopefully I will get a chance to make some screenshots, install second today and see how they play together.

no Problem you can find more updates for this over and www.ppcgeeks.com that is where I generally post
Yeah, I post there more often than here, but had not noticed that it was there until seeing it here and going there to look for it. I thought it was strange that it was here and not there and once I got there I realized you had it in that thread but it did not say 6.5 in the first post (or I overlooked it.) Anyway, I will keep a close eye on that thread.
This a good rom pretty pretty sexy lol ummm i understand its extreme beta an its good i hope yall guys keep doing it up an making it right...yall guys should work for microsoft an htc lol
I have been using Da_g's 6.5 beta 8 for almost a week now and LOVE it. I made the modification to the cpr files to make Titanium a little smoother and more responsive. But the only issues I am left with is when switching from portrait to landscape my phone messes up the image on my homescreen. It clips it and warps it a little. I can fix it by disabling and re enabling titanium or a soft reset.
It always comes back though - does this rom do that?
Also when using RSS hub sometimes the device hangs for up to a minute. On this 6.5. I did not have this on NATF's 4.3 before.
Any help would be appreciated!

Very Happy with it.
Except for memory and slight performance tweaking this build has been working great for me on my sprint touch pro.
Thanks to jakdillard and others who developed this.

very nice 50% transparency by sharkie405 here
Great Thanks !

Is there a cab that makes the top curtain transparent?
Thanks in advance
here are the manila files, put them in your windows folder. back up the originals first.
I was able to get the bottom curtain transparent by using Sharkie405's Transparent CHT Softkey cab. I tried the manila file from the Transparent curtains zip file but it had no effect. See attached screen shot. I am trying to get the top black bar transparent. Thanks for the assistance.
that's the taskbar not the curtain, its not possible to make it transparent however cht 2.0 has the option to skin it to match your wallpaper....

btw. what is the best method to clear the start menu text. I've try a couple that just crash my phone. (very anoying)

im pretty sure you can skin the taskbar on 6.5.x....
I haven't heard anybody complaining about that yet, and. it would cause some serious complaints lol...
the start menu text in the top left??
its contained in a .dll file which requires a lot of messing around to edit and a different approach depending on your rom.
not a very user friendly tweak im afraid......

Hi thanks for the info on the "Start Text". Guess I'll just keep looking and crashing till I get it.
As for the other Your probably right about skining it in general I was meaning more from using CHT (From Frequently asked questions section)
Q: Why can't I skin my taskbar and softkeybar?
A: This feature is only available on WM6.5
Not trying to show of or anything, Just that bit stuck in memory.
Not Forgetful all the time, just when the wife or the boss is asking difficult questions.

I cant remember which .dll it is but this link..... might come in handy if you decide to go down the route of messing around with the taskbar.......
I dont know what they mean by that Q in the CHT thread, I think that includes 6.5.x because Ive seen screenshots in the today screen thread from ppl on 6.5.x with skinned taskbars very confusing...... lol
to skin the taskbar (aka make it look transparent) is doable.
but it depends on your theme (the one you have checked off in your systems part of your phone.)
you will find the image at:
hkcu\ software\ microsoft\today\taskbar\taskbarthemeimage
it is 36px high.
simply cut off the top 36px of your desired bg pic and change the registry.
haven't found an easier way.
hope this makes sens.

[Q] Homescreen Modifications via Registry (no CHT))

Hi everyone,
I'd like to do the following two things: 1st, remove the quicklinks on the (stock) homescreen on my HD2. To be more precise, those three I see by default when looking at the homescreen. The 3x3 block I get by scrolling down can stay.
2nd, I'd like to expand the appointments the calendar shows (which is the main reason for removing the quick links).
I know this can be perfectly done with CHT, since I used it all the time before. But CHT was also the reason for every single hardreset I've done, so I decided to stay as close to stock as possible (hence the Energy Standard ROM) and look into android in the upcoming weeks.
Is it possible to realize my request via 'simple' registry tweaks - or any other means but installing a full homescreen mod?
i don't know of any registry tweaks to do this....never really even seen it discussed.
have you tried energy's older roms with cht 1.8.5? i am using it and it is rock solid.
Ironically, most of the crashes on my HD2 occurred while using CHT 1.8.0 and 1.8.5 (manual installation on stock rom and an energy rom with cht included, respectively). I didn't use version 1.7.x for too long, but at least I had no problems with it back then.
I guess this really is one hell of a question I got here.
Alternatively, is there a way to change the icons of the quicklinks to some with a higher resolution? That'd at least make it visually more attractive.

download JWMD icon changer.......
then you can use any icons you want......
Id seriously look into CHT if I was you....
Even though 2.0 is still in beta its been rock solid for me (and most people)......
ive heard it runs really well installed on the energy reference series.....
Thanks for your quick reply. I guess that'll do for now.
As I already said, CHT is out of the question for me. It is an awesome tool, no second thought here. But you said it yourself: its rock solid "for most people".
I'll stay with my current energy rom and the standard interface and mess around with some android builds for now. This way I always have a stable WinMo installation I can fall back to in case a Android build does not suite my taste.
Anyway, thanks for your help and your concern

[Q] Rom Theme Question Energy

Hey Guys/Gals
Im still getting into the whole fuss and fun of playing aorund with my ROM on my HD2 and recently upgraded to the newest version (Nov10->Feb11) and am not sure how to actually get some of the settings/display back to how it previously was (getting used to it and all )
I installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5044378&postcount=2 on my HD2 and noticed the image on the far left (Lock screen) is how i remember it but for the life of my i cant seem to get it back to how it looked...
I have the left right scoll option but just cant seem to find the setting to push/change to get it back to how it once was
I know its a basic question and option but i liked the options of having all the call/sms history with the swipe down then password layout.
I noticed that there have been Scene updates over the 2010/2011 change and im starting to think its been changed over with them... Does anyone know of an history section mabey with the last/pre scene release?
Currently i have installed
Energy.Leo.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Feb.01.7z
Did you try and/or check all the options of CHT?
For the lockscreen, you have several options which you´ll find in CHTE.
If you´re not familiar with the great CHT solution and its editor, please check out the introduction in the original thread. All this is cooked into the ROM you´re using.
I was having a play around with it but before i flashed i was able to use the pin number option and still have the slide down to unlock...

This image shows the diffrences which are between the image and my phone with the rom...
THe more i look at it the more i think i wont be able to bring the settings back i think
The editor has 3 options and the one whihc looks the closest if the HD mini but still does not allow for pincodes so i read...
the lockscreen you are showing is the android lockscreen that is part of the rom. it is not the CHT lockscreen (though CHT has an android option as well.)
fyi, energy rom has 2 lockscreens - windows and android (part of all roms, whether CHT is present or not).
to use this make sure CHT lockscreen is disabled. then go to settings > other > change lockscreen. it will prompt you that it will soft reset and give you a message about what screen it will change to. i believe, as this is not CHT, you can use a pin code without a problem.
also, for future, this type of question would be best in the Energy rom thread - really people there would help you quite quickly.
cheers.

CHT is disabled and there is no "Other" option in the settings panel
I dont think it allowed me to post in there when i first tried but it seems to let me now :S
go to settings on the manila slider (not via the start menu).
then go to Other (miscellaneous). you will see change lock screen.
this is standard on energy roms (i have the same rom as you.)
and i forgot about the new user rules and posting; apologies.
Options i have is
AGPS Settings
Car Kit Mode
Start Menu Layout Switch
Format SD CArd
Device Info
Wide Device
Get Carrier Time
SMS Threading
Keylock Settings {Only allows me to set passwords and nothing else}
Uploader
Location Setting
Autodata COnfig
No lock screen settings
hmm. in the FAQ of the rom i see:
Q: How can I Revert back to Original WM LockScreen instead of the Android one?
A1: Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Switch Lockscreens.
does this work (it will switch between the 2)?
Fixed it !!! Needed 28244
Ok well i fixed it... (watched a youtube vid where they mentioned the bottom bottons showing onbly in 6.5.x not the std 6.5 and that lead me to the description stating the 6.5.x)
Seems the rom u have installed is 28244 were i had 21916...
Installed 28244 and it looks just like it did before lock screen and all eve the buttons on the bottom
So ill know now for future now which one to install
Its a shame its midnight now and i have to resetup my phone
All is well now..
Also i see our Lock Screen options now, using 28244
ya know, i saw that but thought his 6.5 roms had that option (never had used them though.) glad it is working.
and for next flash, look into xda_uc (i use xda_uc_net)...with CHTS...saves time and you are up and running in 20 minutes or so.
cheers.
