Hello,
I have a strange Issue with my phone Xperia X10. When I use the Internet through the Carrier (3G) for several minutes, and the battery is less then ~80% the phone simply turns off unexpectedly for no reason. If I then try to turn on the phone it will immediately shut down again so quickly I dont even have time to unlock it.
I can use the phone fine, Including connecting to the Internet through WIFI, and I will not have the issue. I can also use the 3G Internet fine until I get to about 80% battery, then the phone will turn off. If I disable the Internet connection through the carrier before I get to 80% I can continue using the phone without problems and even browse the Internet through WIFI. If I connect to the 3G Internet with my battery on less the 80% the phone will Immediately shut down.
If I connect to 3G while the phone is charging I have no issues (The phone doesn't turn off).
Sometimes the battery can be lower and I will still have no issues. So far it seems the lowest possible value for the battery without having issues is 50%, but it is rare. Usually it turns off at around 80%.
I tried doing a full reset and reinstall through the SE PC companion, but it didn't help. I also tried installing a custom ROM and chose Wolfs TW Gingerbread but it didn't help and I still have the exact same issue.
I tried changing the "Preferred network mode" in the "Mobile Network Settings" (I have 3 options: "DSM/WCDMA preferred" / "WCDMA only" / "GSM only"), but that also didnt help.
I mainly need the phone to browse the Internet in places without WIFI, so I'm very disappointed with the Issue. If anyone has any suggestions it could help a lot.
Thank you.
I’ve recently upgraded from an S2 to an S3 and have a slight issue. When I’m out the house and connected via a data connection (O2 giffgaff) all is great however when I get back home or to a saved wifi spot my phone will not automatically connect to it whilst the screen is off. I have to litterally wake the screen from sleep/lock mode to the home screen where I can see the data connection still on then soon after it will switch to WiFi with the connected confrimation message.
Surley I shouldnt have to wake my phone when coming in range to a saved WiFi point in order for it to connect to it, my S2 never had such issue and automatically connected to saved points. Earlier I went down to the shop and used the data connection whilst there, come back to work and hadn’t woke my phone for about half hour, turned it on and it started connecting to the wireless. The connection still works when the phone is in sleep/lock screen as I still recieve emails etc so it's not cutting of data connections completely when sleeping so I'm a bit puzzled by this, I haven't tested this vice versa WiFi to data but I'm sure there must be a simple setting somewhere.
Any help greatly appreciated.
I noticed this earlier on, I was out all day, returned home and wifi wouldn't auto connect, I had to disable and re enable wifi

It's strange I can't quite work it out, I tested it the other way round and it seemed to automatically connect to mobile data when there was no saved WiFi in range so it only seems to be an issue with auto connecting to WiFi.
I'm going to try a few more tests.

You could try deleting the saved network and adding it again. It has happened to me before and that has fixed the problem.

I jus got my brand new NEO V.. It's still unrooted..!
I activated the gprs pack on my carrier i.e Airtel(I live in India)..
But on the 2nd day itself I started experiencing gprs problem..
Even though my gprs is turned on, the "E" signs with those up-down arrows are still appearing, but I can't access the internet after sometime..
The gprs works for sometime but then it stops working as if it gets tired..(Lol!!).. then I've to restart the phone, again turn on gprs, it works for sometime & then freezes..!!!!
All my APNs are correctly set..
Whats the problem and whats the solution for it..??
All help is appreciated..
Can you test your SIM card in another phone? If the same SIM card have problems in a different phoje then th probpem os related to your provider. Then instead of rebooting the phone just swith to airplane mode and then turn off airplane mode, this way the phone will register again. I had similar issue some time ago with a Nokia phone, problem was solved after switching provider.
If you have a very old SIM card it will be a good idea requesting a new one.

Have u tried to simply disable and enable the "Data Enabled" setting on "Settings ---> Wireless & Networks ---> Mobile Networks" ?
This will make your phone to disconnect and reconnect to the GPRS network.
Some network operators could disconnect GPRS connections if there is no network activity during some time. So, check if the network disconnections are after some inactivity periods of time.
Yeah it should be operator problem I know airtel very well...:banghead:
"Switching to AIRPLANE mode" did work..
But still it works for sometime only..! the problem starts again..
I've to keep switching to airplane mode every now n then..!
Is there some other to permanently solve this problem..??:fingers-crossed:

The reason why airplane mode works is because it turns off the GSM radius and other stuff, switching the airplane mode on/off have the same effect as doing a reboot of the device. When you turn airplane mode Off the phone will register in the GSM network again,
It's your carrier's fault

Do u know how much speed the download/upload speed
If it s slow and there is background download then it will make more slow
Hi,
You probably already noticed that by your self..
When you're downloading something over 3G, and you turn the WIFI on during the process, there is no problem because it authenticates and connects the WIFI network and meanwhile keeps the 3G still alive.. it only shuts it off when the WIFI is completely connected and therefore the download is not hanging off..
Unfortunately it was not programmed backward.
When you are on WIFI and turning off the WIFI to move to 3G, or perhaps when you were at home and now walking away the range and so it automatically disconnects it, so it leaves the WIFI first and few seconds later it trigger the 3G and connect it..
During those few seconds you lose the connection and if you were on downloading process it hangs off..
So I was thinking, why not force the 3G on, connects, and only then, hang off the WIFI..
Any app that can do that? or any developer that might wanna pick up the glove?
I'm sure it will help few others but me..
Thanks ahead!
Im new to the M4 from a note 3
I used to use an app called green power to turn off wifi and data when my screen was off and it would turn back on when my screen came on
This saved battery and data usage
I could see the wifi and data getting enabled when my screen would turn on
On the M4 under Power management-stamina mode it says data and wifi will be disabled when screen is off
From what I found it says
It achieves this by blocking data traffic a minute after the handset is placed on standby. Whilst doing this the phone automatically logs your IP address, meaning you are instantly connected once the phone is powered on again.
Is it normal I still see the wifi and data icons as soon as the screen is on with no delay?I figured wifi would be turned completely off as well as data when screen is on so it may take a sec r 2 fr th wifi to reconnect thus I would see nothing then H as 3G would kick in or LTE then Wifi would kick in
Wifi icon is always showing as well as data icon
Can anyone confirm what occurs with their phone with this option on? Is wifi/3G icons still on?
Just want to know if this is normal behavior or if my data is still getting used
