Hello everyone, how are you?
I'm new to this Board and pretty much new to Android too. I got myself a shiny new HTC Hero about 1 Month ago and this Phone is perfectly what i'm looking for. I love it to the Bits, but have one huge Problem, which i wasn't able to solve yet:
My Phone, even now after the Update is extremely lagging and behaving weird. First i noticed after some Time using it, that my Hero started to change Screens from itself, always running to the Screen on the far right Side. Now it becomes worse every day. Its most notable when i'm going out of the Standby Mode. It takes about 5 Seconds until it reacts to any Inputs. It takes like another 5 Seconds until it works in kinda normal Speed. And since 2 Days or so, i constantly see the Error "TouchFLO" not reacting. Force it to close or wait.. This appears more constant everyday now and made the Hero really difficult to use.
I have been on Symbian a long long Time and i'm very satisfied that i finally took the Jump to Android, but this annoys the Hell out of me.
So if anyone has a Hint on how to solve this Problem, i would greatly appreciate it!

I had this problem and found it was something like dust stuck under the trackball making it move. I pushed and spun the trackball a few times and that seemed to solve it for me.
i dont think the Trackball is the Problem. It seems more like a software issue, as those TouchFLO Software Issues keep appearing and appearing and make the Phone more and more not usable

MichelSF, I too faced the same problem from time to time. I am not sure of what you mean when you say that the TouchFLO software keeps on appearing from time to time. In my case the screens would move over to the right automagically and all I used to do was move the trackball a bit and it would stop. I can still see that occasionally but it is fixed when i move the trackball. I would therefore concur with nicelad_uk that the trackball gets stuck and that causes this behaviour.
BTW, you said something about the update, what did you update it to? I updated mine to the modaco 2.2 rom and its been all fine ever since. I do occasionally see a stutter on certain menus but am happy with it. If it helps you any bit, you could install the android sdk and use the 'adb logcat -v time' command to view the debug messages that the phone churns out. You would also need to install htcsync and so on and that would indicate what the phone's doing while being unresponsive.

i get an error pop-up that TouchFLO is not reacting.I can then either wait or force it to close. If i force it to close, the whole Start Screen is rebooting, but not the Phone. So i can access the Menu and Notification Bar, but it takes a bit until the Start Screen appears again - i hope you Guys get what i mean by that! A good Friend said this could be a Memory Leak, or being caused by Widgets that doesnt work well. I have now disabled most of the Widgets i have (Music Player, Mails, Messages, Weather), now just using the Clock and a Contact Bar. Strangely, the Phone works really well now again ..
...Man, this is confusing and annoying!

phew .. to be honest, i dont know really to what exactly we updated it. My Buddy updated it to the latest Version.. i'm such a newb on android, sorry
You need to ask your buddy if he wiped before he updated the ROM.

Only one thing bothers me with my new Mozart.
The phone does not respond directly with my fingers if it is in locked mode.
I mean, if the phone is locked and someone calls, and i see it on the screen it has to be 2 seconds for the phone to respond to my fingers.
And if it is locked and i slide the screen to unlock it, if the next second i press an icon, the app doesnt start. I have to press it a couple of times. The system has 1 or 2 seconds delay from the moment that is unlocked, to respond immediately to the user.
After these seconds, when the device is unlocked, it responds directly to my fingers, as expected.
My rom is: RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.04_5.52.09.16_22.33 a.50_RELEASE
Is it a problem of the operating system or the device itself?

Same problem with me, i have little freeze in locked mode.
HTC 7 Mozart Orange France.
I hope this will be resolved in the update that is coming at the end of the month...
Well, i can't confirm this one on my T-Mobile Germany Mozart.
It responds at once directly after sliding to unlock and after sliding and entering key too.
I have this same problem but it is not consistent. Sometimes it responds right away and others it takes ages.
I think it may have something to do with which apps are tombstoned but I am not certain.
I have the same problem, it is not consistant though. Sometimes its fine and somtimes I cant even answer the call at all because it does not respond to my fingers when pressing answer.

i've had a similar experience as well. i try to scroll up the 'lock' screen to answer the call but it doesn't go up high enough for me to tap the "answer" button. i eventually miss the call.
ive had that happen a few time myself, but ive learnt how to not miss these calls you just have to press the power buttong to turn it off and then on again and it seems to work like nothing ever happened
Same problem. T-Mobile Germany verison of the HTC 7 Mozart. The fun thing is:
Sometimes when entering my lock code it only doesn't respond to the "4". I once even deleted the next number again, and after that the "4" still didn't work. I had to hit it like 2-4 times... :/
Press Power botton to turn off and turn on again
I also got that problem... can't swipe or unlock screen sometimes..
Mostly occur when recive call..
Only way to turn off and turn on screen for work again...
No Problem at all!!!!!!!! Everythings fine........Maybe you are unlucky!!!!!Bad series or some things like that. Good phone me say....

Hard Reset
Try to Hard Reset the Phone. My Problem has gone after switching Roms. Now i have the exactly Rom which was shipped with the Phone and the Responsiveness Problem was gone. Anyhow, it takes some Seconds for the Phone to allow me to enter my PIN Code.
Maybe this is related to the problem?

I had same problem and searched on the web: lots of people say that is a hardware problem, but I don't think.
If, like me, you have the touchscreen perfect after the unlock, try to change rom (like others said).
In my experience, after changed rom with another official one, everything is smooth and perfectly responsiveness!!

I don't know about the one was installed when I bought the Mozart... Now I have the TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50U.
Found on this forum!
The one was originally installed should be German too (I bought the phone there...), maybe the previous one.
This one is smooth, fast and with long battery life...
(a pity it doesn't have italian language.. )
well, my 7 Mozart (Telstra) is going back to HTC... the right side of the screen is unresponsive when trying to unlock the device or touch buttons, such as dismissing a reminder. i'm also seeing phantom screen presses;, e,g, it starts opening different applications, goes back to home, etc. i suspect my issue is hardware related. looks like i'll be without it for 6-8 weeks...

Well... I think that's a different problem form mine, beocuse I only had the issue of the lockscreen (right, left, center part of the screen), but once unlocked, it was never unresponsive neither imprecise...

I have a very unusual problem that i just googled and have not come across. I woke up this morning and found that my display wasn't turning on, as if the phone was off. I had encountered this problem before and a battery pull worked fine. Im on MR2 btw... but this issue is different, my diplay is completely dead, D-E-D, dead... after the battery pull i held the power button to start up again but all i got was the vibration on start up, no lcd screen response.
i know the issue is the lcd screen and i can replace it myself, if it had just been that. i have the total protection plan set up and can replace it, but my only issue is that the TB is rooted. upon fixing it they will realize it once the CM7 animation comes up. i need advice on how to handle this situation.
i cant bootload neither, display is completely off... i can hear sound going on so i know its on. Help please!
i had CM7 rc1.2, mr2 radio, clocked up to 1.6.. i was on bamf for a while but switched to cm7 2 days ago.
You cant boot into recovery mode? Try booting into hboot see if the screen works. If it doesnt just take it to VZW and when they fix it be like "What the heck! You guys rooted my phone?!"

Have you tried running a RUU (ROM update utility) to return your phone to stock? Download one of the .exe RUU's (not the zip) to your computer from this page http://dougpiston.com/ThunderBolt/RUU/ and run it from your computer with your phone plugged in and turned on. With any luck it will return your phone to stock.
i cannot multi quote for $hit, anyways no i cannot get into bootloader because my display wouldn't boot up... but out of sheer luck i finally got it to work!!! and heres what i found! the screen has water damage! then i remembered this morning before getting my phone i tipped over a cup of tea my son left there. im lucky the phone even boots up! i guess facing the phone downwards saved my phone but not the screen... ill hit up VWM and see what they have to say.

nevermind i got it, the process seems similar to updating touchpro2, half way through updating.. thanks man! although i got my phone working im going to be bothered with the watered down screen. i can simply open it up and clean it but that'll waste my total protection plan i have with VWM =P

Glad you were able to get the RUU to work. I didn't specify one RUU because I figured you would use any one of them just to get your phone to stock, then you can take it to Verizon or mail it to asurion for replacement.

You're welcome. When you get the new phone don't hesitate to put CM 7 back on after you're rooted. I feel its they most flexible and up to date ROM you can put on an Android phone.

will come in tomorrow, i have 15 days to mail my damaged one or its 300 ;P. CM has always been my fav. its super fast. my favorite part is how fast booting up can be, unlike bamf sense 3.0. only problem i had with cm7 was that when it rings it rings once.. and when i get a voicemail notification it goes ape $hit.
other than that its still my fav.

I had the same problem with the phone only ringing once, I changed the ringtone from Digital Phone to Bell Phone and that solved my problem. I read that certain ringtones don't work properly with CM7 and there is fix in the next update.
Hi first of all sorry about my English.
Ok my phone has an at&t froyo i just install superuser, slide loading, the weptop hack and the sim unlocked.
I'm using spb 3d launcher and every time i do a restart it seems that the spb it's working on his on, if a let it awake charging some times it's go to some shortcut like if i press it but i didn't (that didn't bother me too much ).
but two days ago one part of the top of the touch screen stop working i can't select the shortcuts on the top of the screen. and yersterday the phone got possessed and start opening thinks randomly. i just uninstall spb and it seems to stop with the gibberish. but today it's the same i can't use phone because i just simple touch the screen and it start again with the gibberish movements.
i'm going to do a restore and i if that fix the gibberish but the part of the screen that doesn't respond is what i worry the most. I'm from Tijuana, Mexico i buy the atrix on craiglist from some guy in san diego, ca. he said that the phone was warranty until feb 2012.
Please help any one
I reset my phone and still the same parts of the screen does not respond and the screen start shaking and doing thing uncontrol.

Sounds like a hardware problem.

I am having the same issue, this was on CM7 only flashed yesterday and then I tried to restore my backup rom and this has the same issue??
Hope someone can sort out the problem.
It sounds like a hardware problem in which you should;
A) buy a whole new screen and install it (they will give you the tools to take it apart)
B) Send it back to Motorola if you haven't voided your warranty by unlocking the phone
or
C) this is a long shot as I do think it is hardware related, you should try this fix just to be sure that it is a hardware problem. Mind you this will do nothing more than refresh the .pds file that affects the touchscreen. Touchscreen fix!

I have taken my phone in for repair(Not a official MOTO repairer) and I just got a phone call, he believes it is a software issue? I am not convinced, because I have tried 4 different roms? He said he is going to format/wipe phone. I told him I have installed roms to replace software and I thought that this would wipe/replace software problem?
Anyway I guess, I will found out if it sorts out the random screen movement and widget press?

I got the phone back yesterday, all working ok.
I quickly broke it again by trying to install a stock rom and then root it, but it introduced the same random screen/widget issues(I tried wipe/format, but no good?). I then install 2 custom rom, CM7 and Aura and I still had problems, then I install HomeBase and problem has been sorted. Have no idea why it fixed the issue just happy it is fixed. Just to have refrain from installing other roms......for now anyway

I spoke to soon, last night it started the random screen judder and random widget pressing.....
I am not sure what is going on....I've had the phone for about 12 days now(second hand from eBay) and for the first 4-5 days the phone was fine. I then installed CM7 and for about 12-24 hours the phone was ok. Then the random screen/widget issues happened. Did many, many wipe's/formats of various roms and all these issue occurred more or less straight away.
Then I installed HomeBase and for about 6-8 hours, all was ok until lastnight. I guess it is either new motherboard time or new phone time....

I have a Galaxy S2 i9100 - Samsung XWLP7 [ROM] and would like to ask if anybody has the same problems.
Sometimes when I want to unlock my screen it responds to my touch on the screen but when I'm dragging it loses my touch and just picks it up as another touch on the screen.
But at most times when I try to unlock again it responds well, and when it is unlocked, I have no problems with the touchscreen or whatsoever.

I'm getting the same issue with the touch screen as well sometimes no response, been flashing a few roms over the weeks and its still a little glitchy maybe faulty screen will keep trying for a few days and see if i can get it sent back under warranty via stock rom, currently using dexter rom huge improvements throughout the phone great rom still got a touch issue though

I hope it's not a hardware issue! But I'm fairly sure it's not because after unlocking it works fine!
It looks like it's not sensitive enough.
Just watch your fingers when you unlock it, and dont let go to early, try to make it a straight line from begening to end, that should solve your problem, dont forget the most important thing, say thanks
Did you guys try to use any 3rd party locker apps???
