[Q] Having problems getting all txt msgs, factory reset? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i'm having trouble getting all of my txt msgs. Also, sometimes i get the txt msg but no notification of getting it. I talked to t-mobile and the guy recomended doing a factory reset. This will cause me to lose all user data (apps, photos, videos, ect), correct?
Does anyone think that this will work? A little searching on here showed other people having this problem as well, but most of those posts were from back in sept.

bump, please guys.

Xda mini S randomly sending same message

Sorry if this has already been brought up but I've had a quick look around but couldn't find anything, I would keep looking but it's costing me money!
Every time I send a text, receive a text or receive a call, my phone sends a message (it was a message I sent to my gf a few days ago) no matter who texts or calls me, or who I text that same message gets sent. It usually shows up in my Sent Messages folder. I tried deleting all my messages but it's still happening! I know a soft-reset will fix it but I'm reluctant to do that just yet. Is this a common problem? Is it fixable?
A soft reset will not do anything to your data so there is nothing wrong with trying that, although I doubt it will fix your problem.
A hard Reset will wipe out your data and return the device to original ROM condition (out of the box when new) - this will get rid of your problem, unless there is a hardware fault - worth a try. - Mike
Ah yeah, sorry I meant a hard reset, I've already tried a soft-reset. I guess this isn't a common problem then? I'll give it another day and see if anyone's got any ideas. Otherwise I guess it's a hard reset for me!

Not receiving all text messages?

Anyone having issues receiving text messages? Apparently my messages are being received but im not getting replies... even tried sending messages to myself on Google Voice - I never get them... Only a few messages have actually gotten to me in the last day or so.
Did you just port your number over?

A week ago... just started happening.
Still having issues with this.. been on with verizon 2 days now and they cant figure out whats wrong with my phone. Ive factory reset several times, had them clear my account etc... still doesnt work consistently... What could be causing this?
Same here. Was wondering if it could be related to rooting the device, but I receive the occasional text/pic msg so I know that's not it. I do toggle the 3G/LTE settings quite a bit for battery conservation and I'm wondering if that could be affecting the delivery of text messages.
Any ideas?

Can't send SMS?

It's happened to me twice, stock rom and rooted. The only way I can fix it is by doing a factory reset. Performing one of those and then restoring my backup doesn't fix the problem, but I can factory reset and then manually add my apps and things are fine for a couple days.
I can receive texts and call. I can send pics but that's about it.
Might not help, but have you set up a text plan on AT&T? I had the same problem after activating and was confused as hell. Customer support added the unlimited text/mms plan and now it's working properly. Pretty weird since I never used sms much before and was willing to pay the per use fee like I did before with my captivate.

[Q] Can not recieve SMS, Can send

I'm unable to recieve SMS messages. I can't receive them under any circumstances. I'm currently on shostock2, but I've also tried Aberration and no luck there either.
As said, I can't receive messages, but I can send them. I also am able to use the data connection and make/receive calls.
The things I've tried are:
Delete mms app data
delete all messages
Send myself a message (doesn't receive)
Tried GO SMS app
Made sure auto receive is on in app
Factory Reset ROM
Flash another ROM
Tried the newest Siyah kernel
Also I've contacted ATT and went through the troubleshooting steps they want wanted. I obviously don't know what they were trying on their end, but nothing was working there either. They gave me a resolution date of the 22nd, which is a bit longer than I'd like to wait.
So, any ideas folk? I'd really like to get messaging back!!!
Full wipe + format system + format data.
Don't restore from TiBu.
And try...

Had the same issue earlier. What worked for me was taking out the sim and putting it in a different phone real quick then swap it back in. When I rebooted I had all my messages. Hope this helps

Text Msg Errors

Hi Guru's,
I'm getting frequent Text Msg failure notices, a pop-up saying Text Messenger has stopped, with an "OK" button that must be clicked or the screen stays locked on that pop-up. It was only happening in group texts with rapid texting between multiple people at one time, but now it's happening randomly, even when texting with individuals.
In addition to this error, there are some cases when pictures or attachments will show they're loading (downloading with the spiraling circle), yet the download never comes in and the spiral never stops spinning. I end up deleting that text to make it go away. It never attempts to reload.
In an effort to help with diagnosis, I've closed all apps when texting and I still get these errors. The only two apps open when I'm texting is the stock texting app that came with the phone - with Swift-Key ... and as stated, I'm on Verizon with a phone bought at the Verizon store.
I've done everything I know to do, except a Factory Reset.
Anyone have any helpful answers/solutions?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Gregory
Are you using the Verizon messanger? What is the specifics on that?
Not using Verizon's text app.
Mostly because Verizon keeps secondary copies even after I delete them.
Since I wrote that and having surfed every thread on similar topics, I decided the best course of action was to back up and do a Factory Reset.
It worked, but I've got issues with notification settings that I'm working through.
First-World problems. ;- )
