[Q] memory jumps to 64 Mb (dualsim) - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ahh ok, already on spl 3.03, my mistake then.

I installed the newest ROM upgrade from HTC and now the ROM shows 64 MB for the working area and the phone keeps giving the eroor that the workspace is too full. After installing the latest Artemis v42 it was solved and back to 100 something Mb. After some locks, reboots, hard resets etc I installed v42 again and now this version has the same problem only 64 Mb workspace.
I have a european HD2 with Vodafone. And I am using a dualsim adapter with a KPN sim included as well.
The SiMore software from the adapter might be the problem.
Kan anybody help me

you have hspl still installed. 3.14 roms must have spl 3.03 or you will have trouble.
the hspl/3.14/memory issue is well documented in dozens of threads.

Thnx. is there a simple guide what to do from here. been searching finding a lot but which one. I'm the amateur I know.

if there is a stock 3.14 for your phone....
run hspl2, choose 1.66.0000
flash the 3.14 rom. usb is fine.
if you have a branded and there is no stock 3.14, thenyou need a goldcard.
if you aren't bothered for 3.14 and want to play with the non 3.14 cooked roms, just flash one. hspl is already installed.look in the rom development thread, at the top there are only 2 or three stickies, one is a list of the loads of threads that should be sticky but aren't cos they'd take up the whole front page.
a good evenings reading material.

Bootloader says: SPL-3.03.0000 XE

Ok but now what? Can anybody help me?

There is no HSPL version present yet who is compatible with SPL 3.03
We need to wait sir
Ow Ps, do you have a Branded UK Orange device?
no its unbranded
Any updates on hspl for this yet
if its unbranded just flash a stock 1.66 to downgrade the spl then hspl as before.
Hi. I am on 3.14, i would need to downgrade too...
would this file i found online be good? :
RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 ΒΆ
7U_2.06.51.07_Ship
Its 1.66.404.1 but not 1.66.0000.. is this a problem?
I need to find a stock rom on NLD (dutch) to downgrade before putting my HSPL... Why is it so hard to find an original file from factory, say 1.42 in everylanguage?
And what is the difference by downgrading to 1.42 or 1.66?
Thank you kind sirs
1.66.404.1 is rom version,,, 1.66.0000 is the spl version.
yes that rom should be fine assuming you have an unbranded hd2. doesn't matter which you downgrade to, they both will allow hspl.
its not at all difficult to find them.
look for "leo official roms" thread, in rom development section, and in there, first post first link takes you to most of the roms.
Samsamuel, thx a lot for that positive answer HD2 is indeed unbranded.
makes me feel better, been in despair with my dutch HD2...
So its finally clearer to me, 0000 is SPL and XXX is rom version
But to Downgrade, a non SPL version is ok then?
But to install HSPL, i need an SPL version?
And one last thing, can i install all of this stuff without booting from SDmini?
Those were the old procedures, no?
Thx!
all stock roms come with a version of spl, but it doesn't say which spl in the filename.
1.43 and 1.48 roms come with spl 1.42.0000
1.66 and 1.72 roms have spl 1.66.0000
3.14 comes with spl 3.03.0000 and hspl doesn't work with it.
the numbers you see in the filename are rom (1.66.404.1) and radio (2.06.51.07) versions, not spl.
when you look in bootloader at spl, it will always end either .0000 or .hspl where 0000 is stock.
it doesn't matter which spl you have, so long as it isn't spl 3.03 then hspl will work and allow you to flash roms andradios.
Thx! Even clearer now
Unfortunately, i am currently on 3.14.. i tried installing a lower version ROM (1.66, the link i put earlier) but it didnt work..
How can i downgrade to those versions who enable me to use HSPL? Once u have a higher rom, it detects lower and u cant downgrade?
Is the only method to flash with SDcard?

Then that isn't your stock rom. (Although you didnt say why it didnt work, , ) if its teh right rom it will work
I think i managed to install my English pack allright!
I installed the earliest official pack from HTC, rom 1.48
Then installed HSPL3, then my official HTC WWE 3.14 rom!
Confirmed, it works!!!
Again, Thank you for your time and your explanations of roms!
See you around on the forums, mate!
dont smile too soon, if you flashed a 3.14 rom whilst spl is installed then you will have memory and stability issues.
Go to
settings menu all settings system memory, what does it show for free program memory? around 50meg? should be about 140.
Couldnt really find "memory settings" but what if ound was this:
Total storage: 176 mb
Used storage 56
Free storage 119 mb
TOtal programm 208 MB
Used program 163 mb
free programm 45 mb
NO SD CARD (must buy one tomorrow lol)
So, as u said, its around 40 mb.. What should have i done better?
Also, what is the difference in the SPL?
I mean, from factory settings, i upgraded to 3.14.
With HSPL, i upgraded to 3.14
What difference does it make, isnt it the same? Doesnt 3.03 spl install itself?
Anyways, will be glad to hear your comments on my new problem then haha
not through usb flash. If hspl is installed it remains installed.
3.14 roms must have spl 3.03.0000
Before the 3.14 roms it didnt matter, all roms worked on any version spl, but the 3.14 roms dont.
You should have removed hspl first, (so that your spl ends .0000) then flashed the 3.14 rom, , this allows it to upgrade spl to 3.03.0000
Hhm, i really dont wanna brick my HD2 with all those stability issues.. is there a risk if i leave it like that?
Anyways, i'll restart the instalations then. I checked on bootloader, currently this is what i have: SPL-2.08 HSPL 8G XE
How should i proceed? Should i flash from SD card a 3.14 directly WWE? I have nothing yet on my HD2, (using 3.14 WWE official rom from HTC website) so i dont really care about flashing, reinstalling, hard resets
Just give me advice on how to proceed to have the perfect installation
Is a flash from SD card obligatory? But that would get rid of HSPL, no? and if i get rid of HSPL, my HD2 is going to go back to its original language (DUTCH), right? I want to avoid putting my HD2 in that language...
Say, if i SDFLASH the latest rom WWE (even though my HD2 previously to HSPL only accepted NLD (hence dutch) roms), will it work?
Sorry for taking up so much of ur time, but ur comments are so helpful
connect to usb, put the phone in bootloader.
then
run hspl2
choose 1.66.0000
when phone reboots, quickly hold voldown to reenter bootloader
run the 3.14.exe
Thx for the quick reply.
Why would i use HSPL 2 now, i was using the HSPL 3 before? Isnt it the latest most stable one tu use?
Can i still run HSPL3 and choose 1.66? (i think not actually i only had choice of 2.08)..
So can i run HSPL3 and then re run with HSPL2??? It wont have compatibility issues?
And how to install the exe while in bootloader? Is it a flash from SD Card?
What will happen if i leave my 3.14 in the 2.08 SPL? only stability issues? No risk of bricking, or long term affecting negatively the phone?
So many questions.. hope u can answer all of them..
Also, one last big question: Now that HSPL is installed, isnt it easier to simply, when i recieve my SD card, to flash a WWE official rom 3.14? wouldnt that do the trick? Or i need to go through HSPL2 for sure?
Thx again!
the .exe's are just installers, the spl/hspl inside is the same. So, the 2.08.hspl in hspl3, the actual code that gets flashed to your bootloader, is IDENTICAL to 2.08.hspl in hspl2.
But, hspl3 only has 2.08.0000 and 2.08.hspl as options, but since spl 2.08 isn't stock for your phone, if you ever needed to get back to stock, you can do that with hspl2, but not hspl3, so since the one version of spl/hspl that they both contain (2.08) is teh same, and hspl2 has extra options for a non tmous user, why use hspl3? there is no reason.
Oh, and whilst we're at it, hspl2 detects which spl you currently have and offers you the opposite (so if it finds 1.42.0000 it sets the dropdown to 1.42.hspl)
HSPL3 doesnt do this, it always offers you 2.08.0000 until you manually change it, and many a newb has just clicked OK and thinks they have installed hspl, when in fact they haven't.
Lol, i be one of the many noobs.. But in my bootloader, it says i have installed HSPL, so.. i guess its installed!
Will follow your recommendations, but just one last thing
How to remove this current HSPL3 then and restart the steps with HSPL2? You said that
"But, hspl3 only has 2.08.0000 and 2.08.hspl as options, but since spl 2.08 isn't stock for your phone, if you ever needed to get back to stock, you can do that with hspl2, but not hspl3, so since the one version of spl/hspl that they both contain (2.08) is teh same, and hspl2 has extra options for a non tmous user, why use hspl3? there is no reason"
I used HSPL3 because i read on forums thats its better to use the latest HSPL as the previous versions usually are out of date.. seems i was mistaken then... Also, i used HSPL3 because it was compatible with any 1.XX rom, and i could only downgrade as low as 1.48. Would HSPL2 be able to be installed on 1.48 official rom? I thought highest HSPL2 could work on was 1.42?
So you say that now that i have installed HSPL3, i cannot go back to stock? Im sure there would be a way, but what should i do then?
Should i just flash some stock rom from SD card, hoping it takes HSPL3 away, and restart procedure with HSPL2?
Or with USB sync i can restart the procedure, by just openiong HSPL2 without touching any rom?

[Q] hspl new 3.14 rom install questions

Hi, since this afternoon I have been trying to roll back my spl version to put the new rom in.
I download my o2 rom and couldn't install it so I used hspl2 to bring it back to 1.4.
I was able to put the o2 rom on then.
Since then I have tried various SPL's to get 3.14 installed to no avail.
I have just put spl back to 2.08.hspl and 3.14 installed right away.
From following the spaghetti junction of other threads, it says it shoul'dt run n this config and you have to roll back the HSPL version (in fact no hspl).
Have I got problems for myself (and yes have the 50mb limitation (is this real or just display)).
P.S. anyone know where hspl3 is, tried searching but almost every thread has a mention of hspl in it so nearly all threads returned lol
sir HSPL 3.03 Don't exist.
For using Stock ROM 3.14 correctly without limitation of 50MB of program memory, you need to remove HSPL. (use the HSPL2_RUN.exe)
But like you mention to have a branded device you need to use the goldcard technique for install the standard stock ROM 3.14
Take a look on this thread for more explanations:

[Q] Help with flashing from stock ROM 3.14 'back' to ROM 1.66

Hi Guys,
Need your advice please! Want to be absolutely sure before proceeding as do not want to 'brick' my phone!
I had a UK T-Mobile branded HD2. I installed HSPL a few months back (went through the guide on this site - thanks!), just to allow me to install the official stock ROMs from the HTC website.
I was running on the official HTC ROM 1.66 WWE up until the recent release 3.14. I installed this, but i've had some unusual problems. For instance, the Opera browser randomly closing when before it would run in the background. The same goes with email and other programs like Facebook would just randomly close. Sometimes my browser favourites would not be displayed, and also it would not fully load web pages and just sit there. I know they've made some improvements with the background processes and CPU handling, so not sure if this is what I should be expecting. However it is driving me crazy!
Now I just want to 'roll back' to the previous official HTC stock ROM 1.66 as I find this more stable and did not encounter these issues.
My bootloader screen reads as followed:
PB1100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE
CotullaHSPL
In this scenario, can I simply connect my HD2 to my PC/laptop via USB and run the exe file downloaded from the HTC website and flash per their instructions? Or are there some other steps I need to take?
I've done some searching, but have not yet encountered anyone going back the other way. Most people seem to be happy on 3.14, but not me!
Also I know sometimes it will not allow you to roll back if you have a newer version installed.
Thanking you in advance!
J
the reason you had problems is because the 3.14 roms aren't compatible with hspl, or with older spls, only spl 3.x. There is no t-mo 3.14 rom yet, so your only option to get 3.14 would be goldcard.
you still have hspl installed, so just go ahead and flash what you like. USB is fine.

Software Update Failed - uninstalling HSPL

Hi all, I've been running HSPL and Stock ROM 3.14.405.2 on my UK T-Mobile HD2. I needed HSPL as its a generic ROM.
I decided to try a cooked ROM (Artemis), which required the removal of HSPL. I extracted "RUU_signed.nbh" from the 3.14 ROM, renamed it to "leoimg.nbh" and stuck it on my SD Card, before resetting and pressing the down volume. It rebooted, asked if i wanted to continue with the installation, and then reset halfway through.
I'm now getting "Upgrade ROM code error. Please Try Again" and sometimes a grey screen with red numbers "00028002" at the top.
I've tried installing a standard 3.14 ROM again, and a 1.66 ROM, but both say they are unable to communicate to the phone.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated please - I'm gonna have to crack out my Nokia N70 back up soon!!
What haoppened is that when you ran the 3.14 update from sd card, because HSPl was installed it allowed it to start flashing even though its not for your phone. (As hspl should indeed do).
Problem is that step 1 of the update process is to replace the spl(hspl) and instal spl 3.03.0000. The phone then reboots into the new 3.03.0000 bootloader and flashing continues. Except it doesn't, because hspl is no longer there, so your phone rejects the 3.14 rom and you get rom update error and are left with spl 3.03.0000 and no way to apply a 3.14 rom.
Had you tried to flash that rom without hspl, it would have simply failed and done nothing.
The 1.66 rom didnt work because it is an unbranded rom, and you have a branded phone.
You need a t mo uk rom, and you dont need to use sd card, you can flash over usb from bootloader and it will downgrade spl from 3.03.0000 and hspl2 will again work.
Only way, the ONLY way, you can get a 3.14 rom onto your branded hd2 is goldcard. running it as you did with hspl causes instability and only 200 and odd meg ram, with only 50 meg free.
if you would read the install instructions on the first post of the Artemis ROM;
1) you didn't need this thread.
2) you saw the step by step guide on how to do it (available in 3 language!!)

Thanks for the response - I thought something along those lines had happened, so I've gotten TMobile 1.72 from the HTC site.
Ive extraced RUU_signed and renamed it to leoimg, and stuck it on the SD Card. My problem is now, when i boot with the volume held down, It just says "Upgrade ROM code error. Please Try Again" still. It doesnt seem to boot from the SD. Am i missing something or is it totally ballsed?
EDIT: After formatting a different card and trying again, it's working. Wiping now....
As for this goldcard stuff, i assume there's plenty of threads to do that?

Ahhhhhh, that'd explain why performance with 3.14 has been totally rubbish. I had no idea hspl had an overhead like that. Goldcard it is then......if i ever get it working
its not hspl with the overhead, its an incompatibility between the rom and the spl. If you put 3.14 rom on there and then remove hspl leaving say 1.66.0000, you still get the same issues.
As for goldcard, theres a goldcard request thread in rom dev section, post a cid there and ill make a batch of images up later this evening.

No way to recover all my RAM

Hello everybody,
Here is my problem:
My Hd2 had a Rom 1.44, I do not know where it came from, I bought it second-hand (my oerator is sfr). I decided to install the Rom 3.14 coming from HTC (Tx a false serial number and i has a hspl 2.08)
Everything goes well exept my memory(programs) decrease abominably (as everybody knows but as an idiot I had not inquired before).
I believed that by installing hspl3.03 that would be back to normal again! it didn't. (I even reinstalled the ROM3.14 and also tried with the spl 3.03)
I installed back the hspl 2.08 and reinstalled an old version (RUU_Leo_HTC_FRA_1.66.406.1_Radio_Signed _15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship) The problem was the same.
I try via task29 with as radio Rom 2.15.50.14. And flash with the Rom above, always similar: total report: 208,97, used: 132.21, free: 76,76.
I do not know any more what to do! Please Help !
Tx to read me, have a nice end of we.
(sorry for my english, i am french)
McAlister
enter bootloader
run hspl4
choose 3.03.hspl from teh dropdown
when phone reboots quickly enter bootloader again
run your 3.14 .exe rom install over usb.
report back.
Tx to help me,
I did it,i didn't use the exe but it used customruu and the 3.14.nbh
It's ok no ?
Even the probleme is here again total progams memory is 208.81 mo !
I also tried with the 1.42 spl and the 1.66 rom, the probleme was there too !
i also tried to install the 3.14 rom with the 1.66.000 spl, the probleme was there too !
i have no more idea !

well yea, it would be, it will always be there whenever the rom is 3.14 and the spl is NOT 3.03.xxxx
I mean i have first installed the 1.66.000 spl and then i install the 3.14 rom (nbh via customruu) like i read here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-826915.html
so you have 3.14 running now, and what does it say in bootloader? (please dont just guess, go and have an actual look)
Hey McAlister, make sure that when. you flashed the 3.14 ROM that it is flashing this radio too. Radio version 2.15.50.14

As I understand, Stock ROM version 3.14 includes Radio 2.15.xx.xxx
Unless you flash the Custom ROM which would not include the Radio, then you have to flash radio separately
Cheers
Samsamuel --> I can't have a look now because i have installed the 1.66 rom but i remember, because i did care of it, that when i have installed the spl 3.03 before installing the rom it was the spl 3.03 after, and when i tried with the hspl 3.03 (before) it was the hslp 3.03 after too.
T-Macgnolia --> Yes the radio have changed for the 2.15.50.14 each time i tried with the exe, and, in fact, when i have used the ruucustom.exe the radio was 2.15.50.14 yet.
I am now with the 1.66 rom and with hspl 2.08 but my total memory is again 208 mo.
Tx a lot for your help.
Sure you don't have a pre release model??? Some of those come with less ram,,
That's not impossible, do you know how i can see that ?
Not sure, some have decals on the back, HT97 comes to mind,, Google it. What's top line in bootloader?
Download HSPL4 and install HSPL 2.08.
Download the last radio and update it!
The first line in bootloader is : PB81100 SS-BC
No Decals writing in the back but look at this link, the memory spec : http://www.slashgear.com/htc-touch-hd2-full-spec-list-revealed-0558921/
it's the same for me when i look in (in french) informations materielles. My brother have an Hd2 too, its total memory isn't 320 mo but 448 mo.
I am like nicolog71 here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-639818.html
ok, you arent mistaking total hardware ram and total available program ram, are you?
The hardware on a regular hd2 has 448meg ram, of which the graphics hardware takes 128meg, leaving teh system with 320meg ram, of which usually a good 120 meg or more is taken by the system running, cookies and suchlike, leaving about 200 usually for you to use. It can really easily be that you get much less than 200 meg ram free.
This all gets more confusing if you have gotten used to running cooked roms with the 576 enabled, because THEN the hardware info page shows 576MB and the system moemory app shows 448 total. You will not get this on any stock roms. Only on tweaked cooked roms, and since you have flashed back to stock roms, you will currently see hardware 448, total 320.
Perhaps your brother has a cooked rom installed?
You need to look at the hardware info page, which should show 448MB Ram, and compare that to the windows system memory page which will show 320 or so total RAM with xxMB used /XX free.
So my hd2 is a pre released hd2, you were right !
Do you know if there is a way to unlock the rest of the memory ?
Thank for all, you really help me and now i can understand my problem !
no clue, sorry, , have a read thru some of the threads started by xmoo, he knows a ton about test roms and models.
ok, tx again, i will try to buy another Hd2 or waiting for the next big screen htc phone.
