X10 mini, 1.6backup failes to read in 2.1 - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My girlfriend updated her X10 mini pro from 1.6 to 2.1 yesterday, probably without reading warnings about your files being deleted (I don't know the phone or the procedure), resulting in a crying girlfriend
About 2 weeks ago, for a minor update, I installed the S.E. backupsoftware (from m.sonyericsson.com/) on the phone and made a backup.
When I try to put this backup back using the backupsoftware in 2.1 it starts with contacts, but at 40% I get an error "FOUT" (Error in dutch). All contacts seem to be on the phone, but the rest of the data isn't.
What can I do? Should I put the phone back to 1.6, read the backup, then update to 2.1 and first use the backup-functionality I believe is in the "PC Companion" software? I guess the 1.6 backup isn't fully compatible with the 2.1 backup..
How do I downgrade to 1.6? I have no experience with Android, only with (HTC) WinMo

Help!

Well I heard that android 2.2 was available with froydvillian ect, so i decided to update to that, i followed the steps of installing villainrom first which was successful.
I then went onto installing froydvillain 1.5 the same way but was unsuccessful on many times (just got stuck on the hero screen).
I then decided that I'd just stick with the orange firmware so used the update on the PC get android 1.5 on.
I then was going to update the 2.1 but could get the usb to work, and it wouldn't mount to the pc. I then downloaded the update through mobile web and it installed.
Now my problems are that i cant download from android market.. "Download unsuccessful", aswell as not bieng able to sign into facebook ect.. I am signed into google. I have factory rest the phone to no luck, and cannot reinstall the firmware from the pc as im getting the usb error.
Help please?
New error, my phone says its got 50% bettery, the update on the pc says its got less than 30%.
I believe it has nothing to do with the ROMs. Me, as well as 3 or 4 of my other friends have the same problems today with the Market, some of them use the stock and others, including me, custom ROMs. I guess Google's doing some maintenance or something... I don't know why Facebook doesn't work, though.
its google issue
i have the same problem, but its good to know that its a google problem...i was a little panik rightnow cos i just flashed a new rom =)

[Q] X10 Serious Problem

Hi!I‘m a Chinese user of X10.I've got a serious problem of my X10.
weeks ago,i updated my phone to 2.1(Update Service).
i don't know why my X10 started to give no response occasionally.
Any button would not be useful ,i need to pick off my battery and operated system again
(sometimes Android would say my SD Card is broken but after i reboot again that would be OK)!
so anyone who has the same problem?
should i dowdate to 1.6 ?
or should i try to install 2.1 ROM again?
Thanks!
Just Reflash.
Yeah... Just reflash using SEUS. Don't use PCCompanion to update it.
but how to reflash
should i change my CDA again and use SEUS?
Thx
No need to change, just dowload seus & go for reinstall. If these doesn't work than grab a global generic firmware & flash your phone using flash 2.1 X10i.

[Q] Should I Upgrade to 2.1?

Hello,
I had just bought a stock 2.1 X10, and turned out it was restarting 7-10 times a day. So, I returned it for another set, this one is 1.6. I have searched on the forums and found a lot of these "restart" issues are related to 2.1 upgrade, I don't really want to live with my phone restarting in between calls and while I am making videos, it gets very annoying.
Any suggestions?
flash 2.1, if you have restart problems, revert back to 1.6
As in upgrade from the PC Companion? I'm a little newbie to phone terms, all the rooting and flashing that is
But I think I read somewhere it is not downgrade-able?
Yeah - upgrade to 2.1 I've not had any problems with it at all.... and there is a method to go back to 1.6 - you'll need to just do a search for it (it's either in the Dev section, or the General section)..
Don't install an auto task killer... that causes most of the end user problems I've seen.
i would just root and flash a generic 2.1 x10 rom. reason is, with rooting, you have more control over the rom and items (theming, removing bloatware, etc) making the device a better user experience.
honestly, i got my phone last week, this was the thread i followed the day i got it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825201
now, even though i have previous android custom rom experience, the x10 is different in many ways compared to other devices, so this was a realm of unknown to me as well. but that thread was straight forward and easy to follow. just make sure you download the correct firmware (x10i vs x10a).
again, gaining root gives you way more control over the device, making it all around better. my stock generic rom hit around 450 in quadrant. after removing bloatware and not used services, 650, after jit and a little more streamlining, i'm getting around 750 in quadrant.

2.1 Update caused WiFi problem, Restore?

I recently updated my X10 Mini Pro to 2.1(O2 UK) and since my WiFi connects to my router and works initially, but after a few mins it will stop downloading data although the WiFi is still connected so in theory it should still work. My wife has the exact same phone, but still running 1.6 and she does not have any WiFi problems, in fact it is much faster than mine when it is working. I have seen this problem posted up here and other forums, but as yet no solutions. What does the update alter to stop the WiFi working properly?
I have tried root, WiFi apps, factory reset(still on 2.1) etc, but it is still the same.
Could I create a backup of my wifes phone(root & xrecovery) then copy this to mine and restore it? Would this return my phone to 1.6 software?
My other option is to flash the generic UK software. Is this reversible? Also does the UK firmware still come loaded with the Nordic keyboard layout?
I'm pretty new to playing with android, but so far I've had a play with adb and root programs so I'm willing to give anything a go.
Any help is much appreciated as I've already spent a bundle using my 3g
FW Version 2.1 Update 1
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Build No. 2.0.A.0.504
Well I flashed it using the UK FW, but it's still causing the same problems. Does this sound like a software issue or a phone issue? It worked fine on 1.6 FW.
My other option is to flash it to 2.0.2.A.0.24 and see if the issue remains, but if it is a phone issue I want to be able to return it.
Could I take a backup from another phone(wifes) and restore this to mine?
I had the same problem with 1.6, then i disappeared upgrading to 2.1, 504, and came back with the 0.24 update.. it sucks :/

[Q] p500 gingerbread for india, V10C

anyone have any idea when india will be getting the gingerbread update for the p500? i just updated the latest firmware to android 2.2.1 or V10C through the LGMobile Support Tool (which really pissed me off as it kept on hanging and i had to start all over again).
weird thing is i had to re-download the same update of 126 mb loads of times and i was surprised it wasnt the gingerbread after all. it did get stuck midway at 37% while installing and i had to restart my phone by taking the battery out, but when the phone started, it said the latest firmware was installed, which is a very freaky way developed by LG to install updates. was wondering if ive done anything wrong??
also, is V10C really as bad as some forums say?
w.r.t backup - do i need to backup the apps even if they are saved on the memory card? as the support tool says, it needs to by done via astro, as it only backups contacts, photos and videos. any way to save the messages and settings?
