Hey all.. is it normal for Google Maps on my stock Wildfire to be stuck on version 4.1
I read this morning that 4.7 has been released...

...and was wondering if it was easy/possible to upgrade. Searching the market for "google maps" doesn't seem to get me anywhere.
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks!

Hi,
There is a new version of google maps in the Market Place, yet the my downloads is not asking me to update it.
When I look at the version on my Orange HTC Hero it says Version 3.1.1 (#3174) gmm-htc.
Is this a HTC specific version? Should I upgrade it? What's different in the -htc version?
Thanks
Kevin
the new version in the market is 3.1.2
google decided to release it as an update in the market instead of as an OTA update.
the HTC comes with the version that was available when they developed the ROM. nothing more than that.
download the update already.....
Does the compass in the Hero work with Google Maps (aka iPhone 3GS) ?
Yes it does, but only in the streetview mode
How ?
I have the lastest maps installed and I see no option to use the compass.
i was wondering that too. also, is there any way to actually see the aerial views from the maps, or do you have to load google via the web browser?
Hit menu and then Map mode to select Satellite.
Hi all..
I am looking for Brut maps apps for my wildfire..care to help?
Typing in brut maps or brut google maps or brut would have given you this as the first link.

Is it seriously that hard to search?
Or should i tell you to use this?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=brut+google+maps, oh snap the first link goes to the official xda thread where brut maps is!
And no it has not been updated to the latest version soz.
waiting for them to update my burt to 5.0.. they didnt update for a long time
The play store says it's incompatible with my Xperia Neo running ICS, even though I have version 6.4 installed.
Editing a post half a year old
I'll also add Google Maps 5.0. Why? On my humble phone running Jelly Bean, the latest Maps version has horrible performance. The Gingerbread 5.0 version works fine on ICS and higher and is much smoother without missing too much features.
Here's another tip:
This website hosts many apk download links of free(!) apps, also for older versions. Very convenient.

Hi,
i am running CM9 0819 on my P7500 and since the last google maps update, maps forces a restart of my tablet after approx. 30 secs.
anybody else realised this problem??
Many CM9 users are experiencing this same issue, your best bet is to uninstall updates via settings/apps, of you can't do that uninstall the new version and Google Google maps apk, you should be able to find an earlier version, that's what I had to do.

You will find a lot of reference to this problem in the Developers forum.
Greetings and salutations!
I have a question which I cannot find the answer to through searching, sadly enough.
I was wondering if it is possible at all to stop Google Play from syncing/registering which apps are installed on your phone and showing them on the web version of Google Play? Turning off auto-sync does not seem to help.
