Hi guys, I'm Riccardo and I'm from Italy
People here are getting crazy for this problem, when you start a call or when you listen an mp3 there is a rustle (I hope it's correct word) in background.
Maybe it's a software problem...
Any ideas?
PS: Sorry for my english
try an hard reset,I think the combination is :
poweron+Volume down+home key
If that doesn't solve, maybe it is better to take it to the warranty

we tried but nothing, however it's not my problem, everyone buying this phone find the rustle?
maybe a problem only for italian lg?
Same for me, the phone is quite noisy, even when listening to a file with silence! I hope we'll get a fix. Annoying...
A didn't notice anything that you described here.
(Vodafone custom, V10a, Central Europe)
In Italy many people complain about a rustling sound when a call is made (and not when you answer a call). The same noise is present when listening to mp3 or use youtube and you can notice it clearing the audio.
That rustling sound you can notice it more using a headset.
You can also delete it temporarily, while outgoing calls, going to change the sound volume in the settings (even after adjusting the alarm volume, the rustling sound disappears!).
I think it's a software problem in the firmware of LG and if other countries do not have this problem, this is a firmware issue dedicated to Italy.
LG has announced an update to resolve the rustle and automatic unmount of sd card. The firmware update will be released in December!

Browsing the LG update tool I found a firmware labeled "Europe Open" for the LGP500, version v10c.
It would be interesting to see if non-Italian owners who don't notice the hissing have a more recent version than v10a.
Yes, same problem here, background noise when you start a call or when you listen any sound.
About the SD Card, until now, working fine
hissing sound
The same is the case on my phone, bought it in Czech Republic, Vodafone V10A. As soon as speaker becomes active, the played sound is accompanied by a hissing noise, clearly audible in the beginning and at the end of playback. No difference using headphones (supplied or high-quality) or in-built speaker. More Optimus-owners with the same problem?
Same problem here.
Same problem here, i'm from Macedonia T-mobile v10a
Same problem here. Chile (southamerica) Claro company, V10a
Have somebody same problem with last FW update (Froyo 2.2.1, fw ~ V10n)?
I'm stuck with v10b, where to find v10n?
is this fixed in that version?
You can try find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479
About noise issue, I'm waiting for somebody who knows that.
Nothing is change in 2.2.1 V10n, same hiss noise like V10a.

Thanks, focus, for that information, just got the possibility to upgrade to V10N here in Czech Republic, but I guess Ill wait it out till I figure out if I got the courage to flash to one of the neat custom ROMs in this forum. Having said that, does anyone of you reading this, managed to fix the soundproblem having flashed with Prime or Megatron??
best regards,

I've noticed that whenever O1 plays a sound, or when i'm calling someone theres a little very little but audible noise on the speaker, like hiss... Is this normal??
I have a stock Froyo rom, unrooted, everything stock.....
thnx in advance..
there is already a topic on this.
I also have LG Optimus One P500 phone and it also makes the anoying background hiss noise all the time. I searched 2 days for a solution but I don't think there is any. Even with headphones the buzzing noise is still there so is not the speaker.
I hope this is only a software problem not hardware and can be easily fixed, ASAP!
If you find a fix please don't forget to share with us.
I think that's just stereo crosstalk.

It's a known bug on earlier system versions...
Just update the firmware to latest version.
Bye
Same problem with speaker noise, but it is big noise, not little.
It is audible when calling someone, playing music, games, even dtmf of phone number keys.
There is last (I think) official firmware 2.2.1 on my P500.
Is there any way to fix this problem without updating FW to unofficial 2.3.*?
I've tried to find solution with google, but no results.
Looks like it is problem with amplifier. Is there any way to control it?
(Sorry for bad English)
Hey guys,
I'm having the same problem with my LG Phoenix (No idea where else to post this, and since the Phoenix is a variant of the Optimus One..). I've looked all over the internet for a solution and found nothing, it's driving me nuts.
Supposedly the v10c update fixes it but I already am on v10c.
I'm seriously hoping someone out there has found a fix for this issue, as it stands the hissing noise is almost as loud as the music I'm playing
It's a LG Phoenix P505R from Rogers Canada.
I think it will go away with the sound fix applied by Lekhwani.
I appreciate the help, but is there any way to fix this without custom ROMs? As far as I know the P505R doesn't have any custom ROMS for it.
follow these steps: (DANGEROUS! do not try this if you aren't strong enough)
1. put on your headset and listen to some music. (something like big beat is recommend.)
2. let someone call you. the music will be interrupted automatically. pick up your phone with headset line controller.
3. finish the call with line controller. keep your headset on. don't do anything and wait for a few seconds. something big will come up and surprise you.
it reeeeeeeeaally hurts me badly several times, i will not listen music with it any more.....
i just want to know does everyone suffer from this, or i'm the only lucky one? I've searched the forum, can't see anything about it.
BTW, nokia music doesn't work on 12070 firmware, it says: sorry. nokia music doesn't work with older versions of your phone software. what can i do? i've reset the phone.

The volume bugs are well known on 12070 firmware.
I've been keeping my phone on silent when using headphones ever since the latest firmware, and I unplug the headphones when answering a call.
http://wmpoweruser.com/vodafone-aus...-800-12070-update-roll-out-due-to-volume-bug/
" Vodafone Australia has halted the rollout of the 12070 update for the Nokia Lumia 800, the so-called “battery fix” update for the Lumia. The roll-out started 2 days ago, but it seems a volume bug has cropped up which can cause “volume of music playback (to) behave erratically leading to the volume exceeding allowable levels on the device.”
The carrier has now halted the update until further notice and suggest users roll back their software using Zune to the backup before the update, or attend a Vodafone store for the same.
The update has been rolling out worldwide for more than 2 weeks now. Have anyone else with 12070 had the same issue? Let us know below."
Find it really strange that Nokia didn't see this bugg.. And that all carriers that got the update and did there own testing before sending it to there costumers didn't find it. Have been some weeks now and still no fix for this..
Start to feel that my decision to buy a WP wasn't good.. To many end roads and limit for the user. WP is even more restricted then IOS.

Yup I also did this after learning about it the hard way....
I don't have this bug. 12070 Orange PL and up-to-date Nokia Music.
I just got the 12072 from Vodafone AU where this is apparently fixed - but I don't have headphones with me to try it out. Any way to reproduce this without headphones?

Hi...
I got a xperia z2 prototye. model 6503.
Everything is working fine, except the call quality. i can hear and understand very well, but the other person has echoes, and very bad sound..
When I use a heatset, there is no problem. and it is almost good, when I put the phone on the table, with speaker on. The problem is worst, when I hold the phone on my ear..
Is it a hard- or software related problem?
I´m now on 17.1.A.2.55
THX
Since others have not complained about this issue, it looks like a hardware issue. Maybe your microphone is faulty?
Take it to Sony and get it checked.
I did some voice recording, and it is brilliant.
Try turning off the noise cancellation feature during calls, and see if there's a difference.
Well it's a prototype so who knows...

I first became concerned when I recorded an outgoing message for the phone's default answering machine...As a test I download a voice recording app that let me turn off noise suppression/cancellation.
It brought it from unusable to usable, still not good. But I think your suggestion is a good one, I just don't see why a software tweak improves on something that seems more like a hardware problem. I say that because I can't find a single thing on the web aside from these two posts stating any concerns about it.
This is killing me...turning off noise cancellation only improves the quality in that particular app. Turning it off in the Call settings didn't change anything. I can't record an acceptable answering machine greeting no matter what I do.
EDIT- I also have unlocked my bootloader and thusly lost my DRM Keys... OP has a prototype Z2, perhaps something there?
Same problem here, and mine is not a proto
my nephew and my gf got Z2 too, and same problem...
we hear wel, they can't hear us clearly
Considering that the quality of sound that comes out of the speakers when we hear music, it sure is software problem! In Xperia Z was the same thing in its release!
non proto:
when I'm on earpiece, the caller will always be breaking up. I'll have to disconnect and return the call before everything's crispy again. though there are times they'll complain of not hearing me properly. turning off the "background noise" option seems to help but they'll tell me it's noisy as fuuu.
lol hoping for a software fix I guess.

i have had a problem with people being able to hear me clearly ! if i let the phone even drift slightly away from my mouth people say they cant hear me or im breaking up ! ! i had a GS2 before this phone and never had a problem like this . this to me is a hell of a major flaw ... if you struggle to use a mobile phone as what it is designed to do .. then it aint worth a s**t ! i have to keep the phone pressed up against the side of my face all the time im using it ... i cant just wedge it under my chin like i used to do with the old phone. maybe if i root and install a custom ROM it would help this issue ???

First time I've seen my problem described to the letter. It's especially bad when I hold the phone with my chin and no hands. I turned off noise cancelation under phone settings and people stopped complaining however a few people complained of an echo... Lose, lose. Btw, I'm rooted with a custom ROM and nothing has changed.

There should be a speaker voice enhancement option in the call settings menu, not sure whether you've tried this or not but might be worth a shot

Maybe people should report this to Sony as I don't get any complaints from the receiving end so far. My only complaint is the sound quality of the voice in the earpiece is not rich. The voice lacks low frequency.

On my handset I constantly have hissing noises during a call and voice breaking up intermittently, but not when I'm on speaker or headphones then it's all crystal clear.
Mine is 14W16 and I've already had it replaced but the problem is still there (replacement device also 14W16).
Does anyone else experience this?
I've already disabled/enabled microphone noise suppression and speaker voice enhancement, but to no effect.
EDIT: My third device (also 14W16) still has this problem, maybe a faulty batch or is it probably a software problem?
EDIT2: Seems to be a software related problem. I have flashed the new 17.1.1.A.0.402 rom and it's almost perfect now.
It seems like a recurring problem...
Hi Guys,
Here's my post on Xperia Care (3 threads dealing with this specific issue):
"I've had the exact same issues since my very first call. I am pretty sure it is a hardware issue and not software or use-related (my phone has never been in contact with water, the issue started in an "out-of-the-box" context and ALL the people I've had over the phone guessed that I changed for a new one just because they could not hear me as clearly as with my former HTC HD2 which I'm starting to deeply regret for this basic use of calling for a phone!).
Searching over the web and through this forum, you can find many people complaining about this problem and saying that a standard exchange did not solve it: would it be a batch problem?? For info, mine is a simlock-free purple model bought in Germany.
Another thing, using noise cancellation is even worse according to my callees so I guess I'll never use this feature, then... All details provided by you guys are described by my friends when I have them on the phone: hissing, hearing me in the distance (muffled sound), hearing their voice in echo (bad Z2 speaker=>mic interaction), vibration (resonance/vibration due to the phone design itself??), hearing like intermittent wind gusts and very very bad sound when I hold the phone between my cheek and shoulder...
As if this would not be bad enough, now the camera application does not record sound anymore when filming (it used to be OK before updating to newer version through PC Companion). Instead of proper sound you hear constant hissing. After a lot of tests I've realised that it now uses the noise cancellation mic instead of the primary one. When running a mic test through Xperia diagnostics menu you can hear back that hissing and no sound at all. Doing the same test through the *#*#7378423#*#* menu gives a different result since I can hear the recording perfectly well (because it is using primary microphone)."
After rebooting my phone, the secondary mic is now working. This leaves me very puzzled now: would it be a software issue in he end??
I'm phoning French Xperia Car hotline tomorrow, keep you posted.
Cheers

Any update on this? I just got this phone for my fiancé and it seems that she's having the same issue. I can't hear well.
Must have something to do with positioning the mic and how far it is from the mouth. More than a design problem than a hardware one methinks.

Hi SooSpecial,
Xperia Care had no explanation about this; they advised me to file a standard exchange procedure with the seller, which I did.
I'm now waiting for my new device, hoping I won't have the same problem anymore.
If not, I would ask for a refund and go for a G3 instead. That would be a pity because I really like the Z2.
I'd advise you to have your girlfriend's handset changed asap, otherwise you would have to go for a repair procedure w/ Sony, which may take approx. 1 month, leaving you without any replacement smartphone if it was a simlock-free one...
FYI, this problem has also been reported on Xperia Care Forum in 3 threads on Frandroid (french forum) and on some customer reviews on Amazon (as far as I know).
Good luck with that

How are you finding the sound quality on Viber on the Z2?
I find it to be very quiet & I can barely hear the person I'm talking to & they can barely hear me, emailed Viber support but they weren't much use even though I pointed out that Viber on old Galaxy S3 was nice & loud in both voice & notifications sounds but on the Z2 it is way too quiet, tried Line & the sound is good on that but the app is bloated & the smileys are crap lol.

OK, guys, just did software repair. Nothing changed. Don't go for it and don't waste your time.
Well I emailed Viber support about the 4th-5th Sept & only got a reply from them yesterday about a month & a half later asking me to install a debug version that will wipe my message history, they suggest to email message history but AFAIK there is no way to restore it.
Pretty pathetic support if you ask me.
at least it's good they replied you.. They didn't reply me till now and it has been more than a month.. now am thinking to buy bluetooth headset just to get rid of this annoying problem but then even with bluetooth headset you can't answer viber calls directly like normal calls.. i read on other threads someone from viber support team said they don't yet support bluetooth headset.. as if viber not everyone use it and majority use normal calls. it's really ridiculous

Hello,
i have a the problem that my main speaker is sometimes very low. When i start playing music it's the normal volume for about 0,5 seconds but then it's really low. The problem is really often, not always, and even a restart of the phone doesn't work. I have already reset my phone but it still doesn't work.
Does anyone have the same problem or maybe a solution?
Best regards

i had it. its a hardware problem they will fix only if it will stop for good and not random... (thats why Z5c is my last sony)

It would be very helpful to know on which firmware you are, because it could also be software related.
Sounds to me like the low volume bug which is a known issue for nougat stock rom.

Does that mean the problem is only for the upper speaker?
Or do you have the problem on both.

That's partially the same one.
However not exactly. You got two speakers on your device which are hardware related identically. For playing music and video both are used to get stereo sound. For voice calls only one is used normally unless you change it by editing some system files.
So when you play music and get that problem, are both speakers low or just one?

So i don't believe in a hardward issue. Seems to be the common low volume bug some devices have with nougat.
For more infos read the 3 nougat threads in general section about the .372 , .376 and the .378 firmware.
The strange thing is that you say you had it before with marshmallow. Not sure if that problem had existed before. That would make this even more shamefull for sony. Do you know which MM version had you installed before.
However you can try a clean flash of latest nougat. If it's still there, please try to make a clean install of latest MM rom 5.11
If that solves your problem you will have to wait for a new fixed nougat firmware from sony
