I deleted this by accident using Titanium Back Up. Is there a way I can replace it other than going back to recovery?
Thanks
If you still need it in a few hours, ill put a mirror up from my dropbox when I get home from work.
Fear the beard...
thank you. I can wait patiently
Ok see if this helps. I just pulled the apk from my phone using root exlporer. Its coming from obsidion v4. If it doesnt work I do have that exact file backed up at home.

This is a problem for all froyo roms. Its either hit ir miss when downloading apps. Unfortunately there is no fix for this.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
after you accept permissions, immediately click back on the app and see if that starts the download.
Also, clear the market data
Ill try that. Thanks.

Tried both. Negative on both. Oh well ill give it another shot tomorrow.

AHH, It worked for me recently
Uninstall Market update maybe? Might work.
my market hasnt updated yet. I saw your post on the new market and looked for the uninstall button and its not there. Ill keep trying I guess. Thanks for the help.
You could try Fix Permissions in CWR....
Reboot....
Try the new Market by replacing Vending.apk...
I think replacing the vending apk might be a bit out of my skill set. Ill try the fix permission tho.

All you need to do is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869245
download this using your phone.... open it with astro/file manager and click to install it
voila, the new market.
I tried fixing permissions and presto!! All is good in market land!! Thanks alot for your help. It is sincerely appreciated.
If I download the new market will it replace the current one?
not really... it makes it update.
Personally, I HATE the new market.
I might hold off on updating then.

I've been having this problem as well...
ROM Manager doesn't seem to work on fixing permissions either with Froyo, any workaround to this? I've just been trying to start download a few times until it works. Luckily I came across this thread, I was about to odin to JFD and reflash Nero.
Wow. Market has been driving me crazy for a while now. Fixed permissions and cleared market data and now things download like they're supposed to. Thanks for the tips.

I installed the new market app on my rooted nook color, it would work for a second then would crash me back to my home screen. I had a backup but I somehow deleted it while messing with two different Vending.apk (the original one and the new one). Am I screwed? Or is there a way to fix it and get the market working again.
Thanks all
"broke" your market is out of money? what?
before you install any new program save your old be renaming it by adding. .bak to the original file. So when you have the problem you haveing now you can just save yourself.
maybe some kind sole will post or PM the original for you. I hate the hard lessons learned but now you know.

If you go into 'Manage Applications' does it give you the option to uninstall updates? If so, give that a shot. I can post up the APK's (original and new) tomorrow afternoon if you still need them.

Thanks for the info Kenn! So if we don't want to wait for the worldwide release, is it okay to just use one of the downloads you provided? Will it just install over my current market, or will I run into some problems?
Keeping us Atrix users up to date and informed. kennethpenn is the man!
Thanks a lot, I'm going to download now

its not your signal, it wont even download for me over verizon mifi. the download just sits there with "downloading..." nogo.
I got my Evernote download to finish after several tries, and even downloaded a couple games. I'm not sure, but someone who hasn't updated yet should test their market right now. Could there just be an overload due to a bunch of people rushing to try the new market?

Just some clarification - I couldn't use the Sideloading Wonder Machine to install this as it is already installed on my phone, so to get it to install, just push it to the phone or put it on the SD Card (internal or external), and use a file explorer to install it. It will ask if you want to install over the existing app, and obviously you want to.
Works like a charm! And by charm, I mean slow as crap right now, but that's cool, it's not even supposed to be out yet.... Thanks Kenn!
so im unlocked rooted an the rest stock.... my question is this.. id like to remove the sprint id software. i have sdx stock app remover root explorer an adb... ne help would be much appreciated. thankss

Uninstall sprint id with it.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA Premium App
Only problem is the name of it isnt sprint id....
Sent from my PhonyDroid
I downloaded bloat freezer and I froze it. Isn't that the same thing?
Go into titanium back up, then go to back up and restore. Scroll down and you'll find sprint id 1.?.?.? Press it and you can freeze or uninstall it.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA Premium App
Freezing it saves the app to restore later if need be. Uninstalling it removes it permanently.

Sprint ID is w_intaller.apk (or close to that anyway) in the system/app folder. If you remove it prior to triggering any downloads it's pretty straight forward to delete it. You will need to be rooted as you said you were. It's at the very bottom of the list.
Hope this helps.
you guys r quick lol u beat me to it. I did find out it is named sprint id. i had the thought stuck in my head of what sdx stock app remover was displaying for apps an i didnt find sprint id. For future reference an i take no credit for this... it is in fact named exactly as the app itself, sprint id. i used titanium an backed it up an uninstalled it an all is well. thanks for the prompt help guys. i hit the thanks button for ya both
No problem, glad you got it worked out.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA Premium App
is it safe to freeze 'sprint installer'?
Should be fine to freeze it. If it acts funny or effects the phone functioning you can always unfreeze it.

If you Root Explorer the apk is actually named w_installer.apk (or close to that, I pulled it out right away and don't remember the exact spelling). Titanium actually gives you actually name of the app not the name of the actual apk itself.
Also keep in mind that Sprint ID is tied into the stock launcher. Usability may be affected.
Does anyone have the apk backed up? I really need to put Sprint ID back in my phone before I sell it. Tried to flash a different sbf with rsd to get it back but it wouldnt work
I'll see how far I can get just using my Photon.
UPDATE: Here's a download link! http://db.tt/PJDYuhDo

If you do a factory reset first, then flash 154_5 it should put it back.
Here is a modified stock AT&T Contacts.apk file without the permanent Yellow Pages contact at the top. The is for rooted users only.
Replace the Contacts.apk in /system/app using Root Explorer. Change it's permissions to RW-R--R--. Reboot!
WARNING: Do not use this for any custom ROMs, only for use on a stock AT&T ROM! Also, remember to make backups...
Funny, I never even noticed the YP thingy on the top of my contacts till now. How lame. When I clicked on it, I got a force close. I must have already frozen whatever that button links to...
Thanks, maybe that apk can be swapped out for the stock one in our custom rom(s)...

Awesome work!! This is verified working.
Niceeeee. Like to see dev work like this. Great work. This should maybe be in the themes and apps section though. Not a criticism.
How obnoxious of them to stick that YP in the contacts ?
Thanks, I tried posting in dev but it said not enough posts . I remove the yp app and mine force closed also when clicking the contact. It's crazy how much bloat ware came on this thing. I'd like to see a stock Samsung contacts.apk to see what else they hacked up
So just did this and now Contacts is missing from my app drawer and it wont launch from my launcher tray......... and I cant make calls the phone shortcut is gone.....

I've rebooted multiple times. I tried again same deal not sure what the issue is. I'm on TPC's v2 ROM not sure if that would cause any issue.

I have it, PM me you email addy I'll mail it over to you. I would upload it but I'm at work right now.
I haven't tested this on any of the custom ROMs, only the stock AT&T ROM. I'm not sure what they did with their Contacts.apk file. If you upload the one from your ROM, I can see if I can make the same mods that I did to the AT&T one.
Didn't work for me either, and also copied it over stock apk and don't have a backup. Using TPC V2 ROM. Any one have stock Contacts.apk for that rom?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
Using Go Contacts EX from the market for now. It's a little much, but works for good as a replacement for stock.
Looked over in the dev section- will probably be flashing a new ROM soon anyway
