You can root with one click lag fix but don't apply anything else from oclf just root with it it's the first box you'll see when you open the app Flash it up but make sure you don't have a lag fix running or you'll brick your phone
Constantly Drinking

And most roms have instructions posted in the op follow the instructions and you'll be fine
Constantly Drinking

OCLF off of Marketplace
Select Root phone, follow instructions.
Install Rom Manager (Again Marketplace) open Rom manager, select the first option at the top "Flash clockwork recovery" this will allow you to make backups of your Rom in case of soft bricks, or bad installs.
give OCLF superuser access(will popup automatically when you select root)
I recommend using the Lagfix V2 option, select A size between 1-2GB (1024-2048MB)
I have done this with the JI6 OTA and both min and my Gf's phones.
I also recommend IF you plan on installing roms you have samsung drivers AND Odin installed on your PC with Ready access when you attempt any modification
under the development section of the forum is a post the has the Stock jfd and JI6 roms for our phones book mark it
if you plan on flashing froyo, i recommend Obsidian V3, or Onyx R3.1 (personal preference)

oh yes and if your a newbie at all of this please please please for the love of all that is sacred, do not play with Voodoo, or installing Custom kernels
Read read Read. then play with those
Rom installs are really solid and easy to do without any for knowledge
there should be an installation bible somewhere i'll find it and post link

Obsidian uses Samsung Touchwiz as standard Launcher
Onyx uses Launcher Pro and has Touchwiz Removed from phone, other then that the roms are fairly similar in quality and stability
I have a paid version of Launcher pro so I prefer Onyx myself. if you like the default samsung launcher then go Obsidian.
screenshots are a slightly modified Onyx R3.1 to my liking. but you get a decent idea on what it looks like. standard dark theme. Black, with a brush metal look. on most menu's including the dialer standard.
oh yes and you flash these through Clockwork recovery, install on internal SD card, open Rom Manager and select "install Rom from SD Card"
i also Recommend you install titanium backup Free version from market.
open it allow superuser access
select "problems" on first boot to force install Busy box.
press menu button --> Batch --- > scroll down to Backup all user Apps + data
after that flash prefered ROM

Download Super User and Titanium from the market. Try to freeze some of your bloatware. If it let's you, you are rooted.
when i open superuser should i expect to see apps in the app tab? superuser opens but i see no apps in the app tab.

You won't see any till they request permission.
Dead give away to if you're rooted is that when you flashed the second PG05IMG.zip the top of the screen would have said "s-off".
This will tell you if you have root or not:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&feature=search_result
Also, if you download apps like Titanium Backup, it requires root to function properly, so you'd know then too.
Some of the programs that you would want is kernel manager and clockwork manager. Read through dev. Forum and decide which kernel and rom u want to be running. If ur rooted why stay pn stock.

If you power on your phone while holding the volume down button, you will load into the bootloader. At the top it should say "MECHA XD ENG S-OFF" at the top. You are rooted.
As the others said, install ClockworkMod and TitaniumBackup.
TitaniumBackup will allow you to freeze (Or uninstall) bloatware that was put on your phone. I usually just freeze the apps because uninstalling can sometimes cause issues. Look at the app in titanium and tap on it, which will bring up a menu. Hit "Freeze" and it will stop the program, remove it from your app drawer and not load it in the future. TB also allows you to backup your apps (And sync them to your dropbox if you have one).
Clockwork mod is what you use to flash ROMs. ROMs are customized UI's for your phone that can add or take away a number of features. I personally use Das Bamf 1.6, which is amazing. A ROM that retains the "Sense" UI will still look a lot like the native HTC screen, keeping many of the features. A "Desensed" screen removes HTC's UI, causing it to be the more native Andoid phone OS (Think Nexus 1).
ROMs can also add features such as over/underclocking the processor, different animations (Startup, etc) and adding modes like "Hibernate."
To install a ROM, first backup your current ROM.
Open ClockworkMod>Scroll down and hit "Backup Current Rom">Enter backup name (Usually the date, but you can name it whatever)
It will ask you if its ok to restart into CWM recovery. Hit yes. The phone will restart and Clockwork will back up your settings. After that you can restart the phone and it will start up your phone like normal again.
Now that you have a back up (In case you hate the rom you install or something goes wrong) you can install a ROM! To do that we go back to ClockworkMod.
Hit the button labeled "Download ROM." This will bring up a number of ROMs that have been linked into CWM. For this example I will use das BAMF. Hit das BAMF and you will see many different versions. If you hit one of them, it will download the ROM and CWM will flash it. CWM will ask you if you want to clear all data. Adrynalyne says you do not need to, and I have not needed to, but if you have problems, reflash and wipe all data first with the options.
Kind of a quick an dirty. There are much better guides here on the forums for doing all of this. Search the forums. Read carefully.
thanks for the info. with your help i am indeed rooted.
a stickey regarding this would be helpful and appreciated. included would be whether or not a rooted thunderbolt could possibly be "bricked" with any verizon/htc updates. are there issues with manufacture updates of rooted phones?
Congrats on being rooted! I rooted my Thunderbolt within 2 hours of buying it! A little observation I have made is that my Thunderbolt loses 3G more often after updating the Radio. I have tried everything to remedy this situation, ie all different assortments and variations posted here on XDA.

[ROOT][BN1.2-FROYO] MiniRooterV2 for Stock Froyo 1.2 + Stock/OC Kernel

CREDITS TO GabrialDestruir,et al (MN 4.5.6) & Dalingrin (OC kernel)
* All warnings implied and applies.. your Nookie might turn into a Cookie... so use at your own risk!
* I'm NOT a DEV nor is this something special, so get over it
This CWR flashable kernel is ONLY for STOCK Barnes and Noble's Froyo 1.2 update. MiniRooter V2 is based upon GabrialDestruir's MN 4.5.6 & Dalingrin OC kernel for stock Froyo 1.2 release 5/13.
Why should I jump on this bandwagon??
MiniRooter will make you 35% happier... j/k it might make you sadder. Ok, maybe not, but it will save you some headaches. It was made for my own selfish use, but I decided it was time to share.
It is NOT for people who wants FULL Android tablet functionality! Go install CM7, Nookie Froyo, or use the ManualRooter.
The purpose of Mini Rooter is to allow stock BN 1.2 users access to SU, overclock, install third party apps (sideload), and install apps from Amazon app market. It is intended to mainly add and NOT modify any essential NOOK files, thus keeping the BN Nook experience as functional as possible for its intended purpose. However, you can really make it bi-polar and install other stuff too if you want. For a GREAT & free exchange email client w/calendar, find MoxierMail from the Amazon appstore. It is awesome.
The main reason for not modding file systems and installing the google market is to avoid problems I ran into with the MN 4.5.6 install, ie. touch page flips of children's book, BN store not working on purchases, instore access, and other headaches.
NO install issues with Angry Birds from the Amazon app store. When installing, choose "Package Installer"
Essentially, this mod is for newbies and/or tree-hugging hippies and minimalists with a lust for power and a thirst for frozen lemonade. mmm.. frozen lemonade.
What it does?
* Installs SU & busybox (rooting)
* Replaces stock kernel with Dalingrin's OC Kernel (up to 1.2ghz!!)
* Installs these apps:
adbwireless
Amazon Appstore
Button Savior
Calculator
SetCPU - you should donate (its also on the android market)
TouchRecalibrate
Zeam
Nook Color Tools - change settings, install 3rd party apps
Rom Manager - CWR & backups
Youtube - for learning how to dougie
Pick a Flavor:
MiniRooterV2-BN1.2-OC
MiniRooterV2-BN1.2-OC-dualboot
*Added 5/17
Flash these files after the previous if your girlfriend/sister/wife keeps nagging you this Nook Color is too fast, and you want to put an end to that.
Stock Kernel - BN 1.2 - Froyo
Stock Kernel - BN 1.2 - Froyo - Dual Boot
* These should work for other practical applications as well, so feel free to snag them just in case.
Devs - please let me know if you wish me to remove any/all of your work that have been included in this release. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, which inspires me to learn and contribute to this community.
Mods - if this is not acceptable, please move it/delete/or throw a fit.

Unfortunately, I am having 2 issues. One is getting apps from the Amazon App store to install. 1. Go into Nook Color Utils - uncheck and then recheck "Allow Non-Market Apps"
2. Button Savior needs Super User permission, so make sure you press "Allow" when the pirate greets you.. in some cases it will not work since the stock BN codes has set the 'n' button to be "back" in fullscreen apps. In cases where there's a "back" button on the taskbar, that will also take priority from button savior.
Great work! Exactly what I was looking for. Only a few questions:
Do side-loaded apps appear in the APPS menu or do I have to use Zeam to access them?
Is it possible to replace Dalingrin's kernel with stock afterward?
Thanks

Use Zeam for sideloaded apps to show, download AppHome if you want to use the 'n' button to default to Zeam and still return to stock Home.
Just flash a stock kernel over it if you don't want to OC... or just not do anything to setCPU.
Btw: GOOOO THUNNDDERRR!!! Wooohoo... Durantula!!!
Something told me to look at XDA one more time before getting back to work. This is awesome, thanks.
Question
Sorry if this is a noob question, but how do I boot from this? I just got a replacement Nook Color that came pre-loaded with 1.2 and I can't seem to nooter it for the life of me!! I've downloaded this and copied it to an SD card, but it doesn't boot. I can't get it to boot from a Clockwork Recovery SD card either. Any help would be appreciated!!
More than happy to be corrected, but isn't SetCPU a paid app?

First of all, you have to be able to get into Clockword Recovery. If you can boot into CWR from and SD card, all you have to do is choose "install from zip", choose the file from the OP, yes, and flash it. That should do the trick. It's not a "bootable" file by any means. If you still have problems, keep reading and try different methods. It's hard to give you advice since I don't know your level of knowledge.

Glad to hear that.. Dual booting is kind of hairy, so make sure you do a lot of reading and do a nandroid backup before plunging in.
I have the stock BN 1.2 minirooted on the dual boot of the emmc. Primary partition has been back and forth between cm7 and nookie froyo.

How about using [ADV][DEV][CWM]Copy Nook Stock to SDcard Image[5/9] thread to move your image to SDcard.
Keep whatever we want in emmc, and boot this from the SDcard.
I currently have phiremod v6.2 in emmc, with Dal's beta 3.1 32 kernel on verygreens SDcard. Going to try installing [UPDATE ZIP] Stock 1.2 update.zip flashable from CWM, your ROM, and then using rack's [ADV][DEV][CWM]Copy Nook Stock to SDcard Image[5/9] thread to move your image to SDcard to move it to another SDcard.
From CWM will do nandroid backup before and will restore after I complete the above procedure. When I boot phiremod v6.2 from emmc, I have a 16GB data/video/music SDcard in my nookcolor.

For the record, a fix for the kids books was posted last week (it's in the OP for MN) and the other things still work with MN 4.5.6 for most people (I have two with none of those issues). Nice work though!

If I wanted couple of the gapps, say gmail and google voice could I just use my side loaded Titanium Backup to restore them from my CM7 data disk that contains them?
In MN what gapps are they using? Could I add them here later if I wanted to? I guess that defeats the purpose of this ROM.
Is there an alternative to gmail that anyone would recommend? I use google voice in CM7 for texting, how about an alternative for google voice?

I don't have my NC with me (at work right now) to verify the S/N, but I was able to root my previous NC (very seasoned with rooting many other android devices) with no problems. I'm beginning to think that I may have a "faulty" one, but I don't know how I can get it swapped again within the warranty. I did notice ONE dead pixel, but I doubt they'll swap it out for that! This thing is virtually useless to me without being able to root it!!!

You could try installing gapps and google voice and see if it works. It might not without modifying system files, and that's something this release tries to avoid. You don't need an alternative to gmail since the included BN email app is a multi-email client (gmail, yahoo, etc) but doesn't include exchange (Moxier Mail is a great alternative).

That's nice.. I only had to format/reinstall 23523434x to find out after MN, the BN store doesn't even load, give me these weird errors and check barnesandnoble.com blah blah. I then became a hippy and did it my way. And sometimes, less is more... even in version numbers of apps (which doesn't add anything to the functionality except a new version number).
@ Zephyr757 - hope you didn't get a lemon. I thought you just copied the zip file to the uSD and tried to boot that.

Pre-Installation Instructions
Make sure your HTC Evo View 4G is S-off and has a recovery installed, the best way to do that is to follow this guide by Globatron. You also need to have an SD Card in your view in order to be able to flash things through Clockwork Mod.
Installation Instructions
The betas of this ROM will wipe data, so I recommend backing up important information in MyBackup Root and Titanium Backup. The Full Releases (RLS 1, RLS 2, etc.) and Release Candidates (RC1, Etc.) will not wipe data, but if you're coming from stock or just want to make sure your devices is clean, do a factory reset from within clockworkmod recovery between steps 3 and 4 of the guide below.
Copy the Rom .zip file to the base of your SD Card, not the internal storage of your View
Boot into your tablet's bootloader by holding volume down & power while unit is powered off
select recovery by using the volume arrows and hit power to select
you should now be looking at a black screen with blue text, if not make sure you followed the S-off guide. using the volume keys to navigate and power button to select, select install zip from sd card using power
select choose zip from sdcard
select the clevernamehere .zip file on your sdcard
navigate down to the option that says 'Yes - Install clevernamehere*.zip' where * is the name of the version of the rom (eg. beta1)
Rom will now install and run it's course. The script will be more verbose then it is now by the final version
select the +++++Go Back+++++ option
now select reboot system now and the view will reboot. this will take a while, just like it did when you took it out of the box.
Rom is now installed and working! let me know if you find any bugs or have feature requests.
Removing all user data before installing a new rom (Factory Data Reset)
Boot into your tablet's bootloader by holding volume down & power while unit is powered off
select recovery by using the volume arrows and hit power to select
you should now be looking at a black screen with blue text, if not make sure you followed the S-off guide. using the volume keys to navigate and power button to select, select wipe data/factory reset.
navigate down to the option that says 'Yes -- delete all user data' and select it. This will wipe ALL of your data and the data will be unrecoverable after this unless you have backed it up using Titanium Backup and Mybackup Root.
device will now wipe itself and take you back to the main clockworkmod menu. continue on from step 4 of the above guide to flash the rom if you already have the .zip on your device.
Uninstallation Instructions (going back to stock)
Download the shipped rom RUU from here. This was posted by Football on the Flyer Shipped ROMs list here
with your tablet powered on, plugged into your computer via USB, run the RUU. It will take over after you confirm you want to 'update' and format you back to almost completely stock (I was still s-off but I had lost root of course)
go ahead and update your tablet back to the latest OTA (the first OTA) using software update on your tablet.
now go to this thread by attn1 about getting clockworkmod back as well as root. don't forget the view is named the express and DO NOT download anything from this link that has flyer in the name
you are now ready to flash another rom or reflash mine
im giving this a try ill report back....
Thanks! Let me know what you think. I have a few ideas for speed improvements and I will for sure have a more descriptive flashing script

so far so good
a few questions though
Can you turn 4g service on automatically
is this going to be a sense or senseless rom or both?
any plans on removing the default sprint crap bundled with the phone?

Removing sense is always a large undertaking. I'll tackle that at a later time, so sense for now. Beta 2 is going to remove as much as possible and put it into a zip for the few users who might actually want it. I'll look into having 4g autostart as an option. Thanks for the name suggestion.

Beta 2 is now uploaded. I have been working on theming and it is quite a bit harder on sense based roms than it is on touchwiz. I'll also upload the removed apks as a zip file tomorrow.
Since there are currently only 2 roms specific to the View I thought I would give yours a try as well as the XPRS rom. I really dig that boot screen. So far everything seems to be smooth without any issues. I am running it with the ADW Ex launcher and all of my primary apps work well including netflix..

Aye c-dude any chance of a change log for those of us wondering? Thanks for the ROM. We need more View chefs and your contribution is DEFINETLY appreciated!!!
Why the hate for stock?
Do you have a completely stock updated rooted ver? What base are you using?
Edit: This was not meant to as disrespect to you. Thanks for all the hard work. The talented devs are the only reason we have this community today.
ContraDude thanks for all the hard work on this rom as its really the only rom we have on the view that is currently being worked on, once they have the kernel source released I know some devs who are willing to make some kernels for our tab. However, one request that I have which you may be able to figure out, as I could not, is how to get the android market to install apps it says arent compatible. I originally thought that changing the fingerprint would fix the issue however I have changed the fingerprint to several different devices and currently have the fingerprint showing the tab as an EVO 3d to the android market. Unfortunately this still doesnt get apps like facebook, go sms, or other apps to show up. I have attached a screenshot that shows my tab showing up as an evo3d. Also I believe that it may have something to do with other lines in the build.prop that show that the device is not a phone, not sure where those are. However I did completely take out an reference of the model number, product, and brand to mirror those from the build.prop of my evo 3d, so I changed more than just the fingerprint and it still doesn't work.

No one is willing to do their own dirty work anymore. What happened to if you don't want it uninstall it now that you have root. Do you have a completely stock rooted updated ver? I cannot find a 2.3.4 stock rooted rom for my wife's view.I saw you removed teeter which my kids love, kept in blockbuster, polaris, and telenav(no good without premium gps fee) which I don't use. I cannot take any Ota's without causing problems so I am still 2.3.3. But every rom maker out there is all about remove this and remove that. I for one have no problem removing stuff I don't use, and on the other hand do use some of the bloat apps everyone is so "remove happy" over. Sorry for the rant but it used to be the user removed what they didn't want. I thought that is what root was for. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for being a sterling example of everything that's wrong with XDA. You complain that people don't do their own work, then complain when you have to do your own work?
If you wanted a rooted stock rom, why are your looking at custom rom's? Run the s-off tool then flash the zip that gives you root. At that point you have a rooted stock rom.

Thanks for being an example of the majority of XDA users, quick to flame and not help. Yes the rant could have been left out but that was my opinion on removing apps. No one can say what the next guy will or will not use, just pointing out somewhere it was agreed that stock apps were bad. I learned with the 3d that some bloat apps are system and will not install correctly with the normal installation of apk's(reader being one of them). I can put these back into system myself as I have done it many times already. No disrespect was aimed at anybody but it seems you are ready to fire back at a moments notice.

Custom roms can still be custom without removing stuff. It's the added tweaks that make them custom. And I am currently Stock rooted.

[Q] tar/md5 file for [ROM][ED05] PowerWashed ED05 ROM and Debloated Touchwiz ED05 ROM

Hi! I've been using the search feature and How Tos, but my problem is that I just received a warranty replacement Fascinate for my speaker going out, prior to yesterday I was rolling happily along with CommRom UKB, but now with ED05 already on my phone I'm not sure I want to back track... I want to try ccampos784's [ROM][ED05] PowerWashed ED05 ROM and Debloated Touchwiz ED05 ROM, and I have the zip, I understand how to flash that, but don't I need an odin file? And to get CWM or something? Should I use the ones I have from before (cwm-recovery-ALL-3-30-FIX.tar)? and since the Odin file for ED05 is stock, not rooted wouldn't that just be a circle and put me where I am with Stock ED05. My main reason for rooting is Debinging, so... can anyone help me out here please? I think I am just confusing myself more the more I try to research....
download the powerwash ed05.zip and push to your sd
odin cwmall.tar
three finger boot into recovery
wipe data
install zip from sd
Should work fine installing over your current ed05 build...atleast it did for me.
*edit
btw the powerwash ed05 rom is already rooted/debloated/debigned/deodexed/zipaligned/go launcher...etc
Thanks!!!
So Simple and what I've done a bunch of times, I was just making it way more complicated than it needed to be, thanks for the clear "Just do this" Basically. Now I'm embarrassed that I had to ask...
I've rooted and installed roms on other phones before, but this one has me really confused. Currently I've rooted using the ubuntu guide, installed cwm-3-30fix, "modified stock firmware" found in some guide out there that said it was needed to install "latest cwm recovery" which was red 3.xx, curently still on the 2.5cwm 3-30fixall recovery. So should I go back to stock ED04? Update to ED05? Place point me in the direction to install cm7 or other rom. And from what I've read I also need to worry about the modems now? I also tried installing the rom managers recovery, then learned from another thread it doesn't work with the fascinate.

Sorry firmware is 2.2.1 according to my phone. Baseband ed04
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Your question cannot be directly answered, but Ill try my best...
-flash the version of cwm that the rom you are trying to install calls for.
-I use cwm 2.5.1.x for all stock rom's and the older froyo roms
-Some newer roms require cwm3
-All mtd roms such as miui, cm7, VGB require cwm4
Read the vanilla gingerbread thread in the development section and that should bring you up to speed. I recommend to odin the verizon official ed05 package in the development section. One reason being you do not need to flash a modified kernal to get cwm to stick. Also the powerwash ed05 package is debinged/ debloated/deodexed/ zip aligned/ rooted. Its a nice functional rom with some tsm enhancements.
Thank you for giving me a place to start! is there info on the modems/radios in the vanilla thread?

There is an app in the market that allows you to make odin backups. Its called odin maker. Haven't tried it yet though. This might be useful at some point in your endeavors.

Nice! ill have to play around with that...
Thanks Droidstyle! Now I'm on ED05 powerwash. Nice speed compared to stock. I'm very happy now.
Glad to hear you guys are happy with the ROM! Just as a reminder, the PowerWash ROM has been updated since yesterday up to beta v4 and resolves some issues. Check the main thread for more details.
Is anyone else having problems with app storage on the powerwash ROM?
I originally loaded the ROM and after restoring my backups from Titanium the phone became an unusable due to constant crashes of just about everything imaginable. Tried wiping it and restoring a few apps at a time - worked fine until I rebooted at which point all my prefs were gone and the same crashes started before I could even unlock the screen.
So, I decided maybe it was a problem with my backups and decided I'd start clean. I did a full wipe and discovered that I can't install more than about 4 apps before I start getting insufficient space errors. When I go to settings->phone storage, I still have 1.42GB free under internal phone storage.
I've now done the following procedure twice top-to-bottom, and end up with the same results:
- ODIN ED05 OTA ROM & .pit file.
- Boot into ED05
- Setup Google Account
- Load Market -> Install Maps, all 3 Angry Birds variants, Beautiful Widgets, Pocket Cloud (just a few big apps to prove there is no problem with my hardware and that it works under stock).
- Reboot & ODIN CWM.
- Flash PowerWash beta4, wipe davlik, data, cache, battery stats. Confirm voodoo is off.
- Boot into PWb4.
- Setup Google Account
- Load Market -> Install BW, PocketCloud, Maps, Angry Birds. After this, all additional app installs fail due to insufficient space.
A df from the command line shows 1.4GB free on /data and none of the other partitions are 100% full, so I don't think this is a voodoo-partition-with-a-non-voodoo-kernel problem.
As I said, I've done this whole thing twice. Apps install fine on Stock, fail on PowerWash. Nobody else seems to be complaining, so this must be an obvious thing I'm missing, but I'm not sure what. Any help?
OK, this may not be directly ROM related, but I'm not sure how to work around it. From what I can tell, every time I load the market, it must be background updating from 3.0.26 to 3.0.27. If I go into applications, wipe the data and uninstall the update, I can then go into the market and install one additional app. When I try to install another, I'm told there is no space, but if I go to the Applications control panel, I'll see that I've been upgraded to 3.0.27 again. If I uninstall the update and repeat the process, I can get yet another app, but the process keeps repeating itself.
Is there a way to either lock the 3.0.26 market version or to flash back to the old market?

Want to try this out for me? It flashes back the old market that came with ED05 stock. Flash in CWM, then once you boot up go into settings>applications> Market and clear data and cache on it to clear up any issues.

There's another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16324333) with another person having the same issue. Seems to be related to the latest market.
I had just finished doing about what you are recommending when you posted.
For reference for anyone else - Once I started searching beyond just the fascinate forums, I've found that 3.0.27 causes problems for a lot of people on other platforms (mostly apps over 30MB will fail, but others at random as well), and there doesn't seem to be a way to block the update from 3.0.26. You have to roll back to the 2.x version (which I did), and that seems to fix the problem.
I'd suggest leaving the 2.x version in the future version of the ROM and making the 3.0 market an addon if people want to experiment with it after google hammers out the bugs.
(Alternatively, people have had luck making a temporary /cache partition inside an ext4 img file, but that seems complicated and hacky to include in a ROM).
Thanks!

Actually, this might be fixed soon, since a voodoo kernel is in the making and it uses Ext4 partitions. Can't give you an ETA (and it's not my kernel), but check the couple last posts in the main ROM thread for details.

clarification on installing Omega Rom

Hi Guys
I have decided my first Rom will be Omega.. hoping I an keep it for ages as I dont relish jumping from ROM to ROM.
I have read lots of posts about Omega and the official thread but I still cant seem to find a complete step by step installation guide.
is the newest version v28? it says on the thread (Indies thread)
Please read the following before flashing v28:
1. Make sure to make and keep in a safe place an efs backup, in case you need to restore it.
Uderstood
2. If you want to flash theme or kernel, please make sure first they are compatible with Jelly Bean Omega
Understood
3. Please update Omega Files to v1.03 from Play Store More additions to v1.03 will be added soon.
I have to download the Omega Files app BEFORE flashing the ROM?
4. Get New Play Store from here: Play Store v3.9.16 - install via CWM Recovery
Fine but when do I flash this? before or after flashing the ROM
5. Contacts mod with Greek index, download from here and flash it with CWM Recovery.
Dont know what this is about?
Ok clicked the link in the sig to be taken to where the Omege Roms are, there is JB and one for ICS. i assum its the JB one i go for if i want JB
do I flash using Odin or do I boot to recover and install from SD?
currently just running stock rom..all i have done do far is rooted phone installed CWM and Titanium and busybox oh and Rom Manger
GT-I9300
Android 4.0.4
Kernel Version 3.0.15-928452 - user

Hi
Dl the omega .zip file, then flash it via the recovery.
The kitchen app must be updated after the flash. For the playstore, it's the same flash it after.
I don't know about the contacts. Maybe someone else can help you.
Don't worry, it's very simple with this rom, moreover you got AROMA so you will be able to choose some option at the installation.

3. If this is your first Omega install, then simply update the Omega Files App through playstore once your Omega install has been complete.
4. You can flash the playstore at any point before or after. I would suggest after you have installed Omega Rom.
5. If you dont know, prolly dont need it so dont worry about it. Sorry I personally have no clue what it is.
Reboot and flash zip via SD, Very easy to install with the Aroma Installer.
thanks done now with no prolems.. i think
however even though i went for the Bloatware removal installation and i did a factory reset through cwm recovery, then wiped cache then delvik cache, under storage it says i just have 6.5gb remaining even though the list above adds up to nothing really due to bloatware removal. seems the storage for my phone prior to flashing rom is still stored somehow?
Any thoughts on why and how i can fix this?
edit just installed es file explorer and under SD card all my apps are there prior to flashing ROM, although not showing in dock
I just deleted everything manually of the SF card
is Omega v28 supposed to be only have 11GB total space even wIth the bloat ware removed.mine shows 11GB free now thought it would be n more though
I am really looking the ROM though, quite slick.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
11gb sounds about right. It doesn't sound like the factory reset worked 100%.
Sounds like you got it sorted now.
Now enjoy adding themes and mods!

I am indeed
Just flashed Siyah Kernal, 15 toggles (love it), and Blue theme..
I need to just get my head around the Stweaks now so I can sensibly try some overclocking.. saw a guy on youtube who has this overclocking pull down notification with a nifty little schedule that could overclock/underclock depending on the situation. I'd love to know if that is something available through the Omega ROM?
Haven't heard of that app personally. ...
I have undervoted my phone to -50v and very impressed with battery life. Generally get 5+ hrs of screen time and 2 days on 1 charge.
Haven't tried overclocking as it runs smooth as is
Not sure which blue theme but give motomoto blue a go if your not using that 1
Sent from my Jelly Omega SIII using XDA App
Yes its Mottomoto I haev installed. love it.
the overclock app I saw that lets you set profiles is called Android Overclock from Playstore. Its not free though its £1.49. looks like the one i saw though.. havent bought it. i'll see what I can do from the Stweaks first once I figure out how to use it
Once problem and it seems the only problem I see is that the battery life has depleted to 60 % since 7am. thats just a bit of browsing and installing the Siyah Kernal and Mottomoto theme and 15 toggles.
Normally I play resource intensive games on a 40 minute commute, plus calls, internet and streaming to spotify and on stock I would have close to 80% by the 9am.. and maybe 75% by now. so seems to be depleting rather fast. All connections off, sync off and auto brightness set to minimum..
any thoughts?.. I am using the Siyah Kernel from the Omege Kitchen.
