So many problems since updating.....wish i didnt bother. - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

So I'm really fed up with my xperia mini right now, had no problems at all with internet and gps before the update, since updating i cant get either of them working......also my SatNav program has disappeared from my menu since even though when i plug the phone in to my laptop i can see the SatNav software in there.....
anyone got any solutions?
thanks

Is your phone branded or unbranded?
Is your GPS and SatNav problems with app's you installed or built-in app's with the update?
Are your internet settings downloadable from your service provider or do you need to manually set them up?

Phone is unbranded. The GPS was already on the phone, the Satnav i installed. You manually set up the internet. I have put all the correct codes in but it just wont connect anymore. Didnt have any problems before the update.
I've done some reading and it seems im not the only one who cant get internet and gps since the update.

Try the official RomfFor your region/carrier - it sometimes helps.

That's a statement, not a question!
If you need some help, more information is going to be needed. I presume from your statement that you are unable to download any applications from the Market over WiFi?
If that's the case:
1. Does it work over the cellular network?
2. What precisely happens over WiFi?
Regards,
Dave
I noticed this same issue today as well. Over the cellular network or wifi, i can't download or update apps. When I check on the status of the app after trying to download it, it just says it's downloading with no end in sight. I can use the browser, check email, update weather, etc... but, the market is 'useless'. I'm running a stock hero.
it works over wifi but takes ages to start, sometimes it starts inmidiatly and sometime it takes a while. i'm not sure where the problem is. but maybe this will be fixed with the new market.
Try starting Google Talk to see if this causes the downloads to start - I've heard of numerous cases where this has "cured" the problem, presumably because some of the GTalk components are common to the Market. It may help, it may not, but it is worth a try.
Regards,
Dave
I know this isn't an option for some, but I just decided to flash the modaco 2.2 rom and market is working fine. I did notice my LEDs were not working today so that kind of pushed me to flash the rom again. I kept the original radio (updating the radio to the latest a couple weeks ago meant I couldn't use my data connection :S) and it's working fine.

[Q] Vibrant: No longer able to pull location via cell towers

Hey, all...
My Vibrant was working fine after the latest firmware update (GPS gets multiple satellite locks in moments), but now it refuses to update my location via cell towers unless I reboot. It still updates my location over wi-fi and GPS with no problems. I tried doing a factory reset to see if one of my apps was causing the issue, but no dice. I'm just running the stock firmware on a US Vibrant with no mods/ hacks. If you need more info, I can certainly do my best to provide it. Be gentle... This is my first post
Ideas?

unable to scan for networks

wtf?? I flashed to 2.1 global generic today, and everything has been fine, then suddenly all my market downloads started hanging on "starting download" (for free downloads) or "authorizing purchase" (for something I bought, before noticing the problem).
So I done some looking around for solutions and one of the solutions on devices that have had this in the past was to enable wifi, try downloading from the market, disable wifi, should be fine.
But when I tried enabling wifi it failed, and come up with a message "unable to scan for networks". the wifi setting then defaulted back to dissabled, automatically. wtf, i know there are wifi networks around, im in my room, on my PC, USING my wifi network which my phone was connected to previously.
Im stumped and need help
oh also worth noting, wifi has worked since updating to 2.1, and i have barely touched the device, done nothing major anyway (i.e. all I have done is stuff like adding widgets to desktop, nothing root based) since it was working.
Exactly the same for me mate. It initially worked, but now just displays the same message as you get.
Rebooted, removed battery, nothing has helped.
Happened to me too, after updating to 2.1.
I did a factory reset, that seemed to have solved the issue.
But it is really weird and hope it doesn't happen again.
yeah.... in the end after a lot of looking around I just recided to use SEUS to "repair" (reset) it, and so far that has worked a treat, plus the market is a lot more responsive now,
but it's quite a serious issue on google's part, as it's not just X10s that are getting this. Anyhoo, just out of curiosity if you've received this message, what version of the 2.1 firmware are you running, nordic, global, etc?

I also found that restoring WiFi access points from 1.6 using Titanium can give you this exact problem, so be careful people!
*sent from my X10i
I fixed mine by removing stored wifi settings. I assume titanium backup did it.
"Unable to scan networks"
I too have the same issue, idk when it exactly stopped working but I do know that I flashed it earlier that day with the 2.1.1 f/w. I am not sure but could the config. file be edited or the extension for it be renamed to fix the issue?
I ran across this post, and found the fix posted on this page. I had to change the wpa_supplicant.conf file extension to .bak

I had the same problem. I installed the software from the sony erikcon website to my computer, and then followed the process for updating the phone software. That did not work, since I had the latest software already. So then, I tried to REPAIR my phone software, and after that was done, my phone was functional again, and the wifi works without any problems.
Requirements:
* A PC connected to the Internet (preferably broadband)
* USB phone-to-PC connection. Please see the accessories compatibility list for your phone.
1.Run the software on the computer after it is installed.
2. Follow the procedure for UPDATE or REPAIR (if you already have the latest version).

[Q] Why is Google Talk constantly losing connection on mobile data?

Just bought my SGS2 yesterday and flashed it to KI8 and rooted it with CF-Root. Didn't actually test it before flashing but for some reason Google Talk keeps losing connection and signs in very often. Has this got something to do with the modem version losing data connection or is it happening because of some power-save setting?
Today I flashed KI4 and Google Talk has dropped offline a couple of times already. Is my device flawed?
Any suggestions on different modem versions and/or firmwares to try out? Maybe a separate GTalk client?
Has anyone had issues like this? I tried to search the forum but most topics cover connection problems via WiFi and not mobile data.
That happens to me when I don't have a strong connection. I say it's probably a carrier issue.
Then it must be a local issue. My friend has the same phone and same operator, but lives about 150km away from me and his GTalk stays connected.
Is there a way to monitor and/or log the data connection with some software?
I have also run into this problem since rooting. I can't even find google talk on my phone to disable it.

For me it didn't matter if the phone was rooted or not. Wierdest thing is that even if my buddies see me offline, I receive messages immediately when they send one.
Quick update: I found out a way to make signal bars turn green when connected to Google services. Now I can sometimes see that the bars are gray when turning the screen on. So it's clear that my phone disconnects from Google in longer standby.

[Q]Problems - 7720 Stuck - WiFi - HTC Youtube removed - Unbranded UK

Hey guys after finally getting my insurance payout for my first Titan I can gladly report im back with another Titan from play.com. There are a few issues though.
UPDATE : Stuck on stock 7720 that came with the phone. It was a sim free unbranded phone. Zune refuses to find an update and says im upto date. Well I was on 81xx on my old unbranded UK phone so I know this is wrong. Any thoughts?
WiFi : my WiFi is absolutely terrible. Connection is fine, strength is great. But browsing pages, metrotube, an IE use just fails either completely or after 1 page. Also noticed IE will load 1 YouTube video then when I click play on the next nothing happens. Its as if the cache is full maybe? This is with DATA CONNECTION OFF. I only use data when WiFi is playing up.
HTC Youtube app : as most people know the app is removed from the marketplace. I knew this when I had my first titan. But as I had that pre installed every update I ran never removed it. Are there any cabs for it around / xaps? Will I need to be dev / interop unlocked?
Cheers Terry

I had a problem with Wifi abit like that, which went away when I flashed to a custom from but obviously YMMV
And for htc youtube app you would need to be unlocked to side load, best bet is to flash a custom rom then you can side load xaps to your hearts content. Unless you have a Microsoft developer account This will also put you on 8773.98 or similar.

Thanks for the confirmation
I have managed to get 8773.98 using the Disable internet while checking for updates technique to force the update.
One question, Is it better to do a factory reset of my phone after doing such alot of updates to my phone? Or will functionability be fine without i have heard mixed responses on this.
Haven't check the WiFi on this update yet but im still getting 'connection error' on facebook whether im on Wifi or Data, this annoyed me back when i updated my previous titan and i see it hasn't been fixed.
Now, I have been looking to 'unlock' my titan anyway. I have read if im on 8773 i can't use HSPL anymore is this true? Is there any other 'unlock' method that isn't budget blowing. Not really keen on unlocking my phone just for the HTC Youtube app. As i only want this because of Aesthetics

1. You can do a factory reset if you want, but that will lose everything (as in SMS and game saves). Its your choice.
2. The WiFi/3G problem is an OS problem, nothing we can do about it except only turn on one connection at a time.
3. You can't use HSPL because 8773 comes with a 4.6 bootloader update which has higher security. If you want an alternative youtube app, metrotube is the way to go.
I was in the same boat as you, but I chose not to tinker with it if its working. The WiFi 3G isnt affecting me at all, it uses WiFi when I'm at home, I don't turn it off but I do go out everyday and it handles connections just fine. I have gone to 8773 but it was laggy on my Titan (like avatar animation is sluggish while moving, and doing a factory reset causes the capacitive buttons unresponsive) so I'm back to 8107.
If you want to go further you can install custom ROM, but the thing that I'm afraid about if future updates (I know, WP8's out of the closet but that doesn't mean we're not getting anymore future updates). The only caveat is you have to make sure the next update works with the custom ROM, else it'll either brick or broken.
